Yes, Sunshine......soon you will feel as your avatar name reflects.Just got back from the basement where I actually 'thined' out my hair. Took the old texurising shears and went to town.Yeah, I too felt fat, ugly and just plain sick of it all. There are 'brighter' days ahead, just don't let it drag you down. Getting off of Aromasin has helped a lot, and unfortunately I'll have to go back on and let it beat me up once more.

Hugs and may God be good to you, Artsee

I had another dream last night that I had hair. It was like a "short cut" but I didn't need a wig. I wake up with peach fuzz again. I must be very preoccupied by hair!!! This is my second very vivid dream. I was so happy to have hair, and showing everyone in my dream....

This whole thing would just be a lot easier if you could keep your own hair...

OK  I am sure I saw the answer on here one day, but am afraid to go through all 30+ pages to find it...I have about 1/3 - 1/2 inch of fuzz...anyone use temporary color to make it look like more?

I colored my hair when it was just a little longer, and I had strange results with what used to be my regular color, Colorsilk Medium Auburn. It looked like I had a pumpkin on my head. I eneded up using a warm brown and got my medium auburn results.

    HI everyone,

Just nine weeks out, I am beginning to lose my eyebrows -- for the first time!  How soon will they come back?  Not much of a Xmas present.

My best wishes for a happier New Year to you all.

Jo Anne, I found my eyebrows came back fairly quickly when they fell out after chemo had stopped. There were visibile signs of growing back within two weeks and were fully back within four.

Wow, I wopke up with bedhead this morning! It feels great to have enough hair to say that.

I finished Chemo Nov 4th (last tx) and now have sparse eyebrows, but I just use a pencil to color it (I am very blonde, so a pencil was part of my life anyhow).

No eyelashes is a real shocker though! I have been using eyeliner on top and botton and inside the eye lid line too. This REALLY helps pop the eyes. I am not sure anybody can tell I have no eyelashes uless I tell them and they look really close.

Make up really helps about now!!!!

I finished my chemo on 12/4 and every day my DH checks my head for new growth, LOL.  He swears he can see it coming, but I can't see a thing.  I second the old, fat, ugly feeling - it's amazing what effect the lack of hair has on my psyche.  In the New Year, I'm going to try to get moving more - I'm hoping that will help.

Wishing everyone a better, happy, healthy and blessed New Year!

tbird...you probably won't see any growth until the chemo meds have completely left your body. That can take several weeks. Then, your roots have to get in gear and start up. The first "sprouts" will probably be very fine and light colored and feel like duck down.

    ************

My hair has started to wave and curl, especially in the back. I hadn't taken a look at it back there in a couple of weeks, but when my daughter said it was curling, I had to grab a mirror and see for myself. I'm not sure I like the curl, but it's too short to do anything with it. And it's my own hair, so I'm happy with it simply for that.

My hair was so straight before, that when it was even a 1/3 inch I could tell it was going to curl and no one believed me.  The hair just had that feeling of curling...can't explain it, but it was not straight feeling, although others it was straight. I could feel the turning of it at the scalp I guess. The back is still really curly, but it's getting longer now and starting to relax more!

artsee......do you think I need to go with semi-permanent hair color or can I go ahead and lighten it?  I'm 19 weeks out of chemo????  Even thought I don't like the color I don't want to do any damage to what I have.

Well...I did it.  I ditched the wig and came to work with my very short, punky-looking hair.  I had my last chemo on June 5, and now have about 1.5 - 2 inches of hair.  It's longer and a little curlier in the back, shorter and straighter on top, and still kind of thin/fine near the temples.  I tried to spike it on top and I'm doing the best I can with gel and mousse, but I'm really not very good at this.  My co-workers (the few who are in the office this holiday week) have been very kind, saying it looks nice.  Still, I'm not very comfortable with my hair this short.  However it is my own hair and I'm very happy to have it.  Laughing

SQK, you are 5 months ahead of me, so I will have to wait until MAY!!! ahhhhck!!!

Would you show us a picture??? Update your avitar! I would love to see your short doo.

I am in the south east, and baby, as soon as it gets warm, I will want to ditch this wig. I would love to see your hair cut!

Ladies, when you color this newly grown hair, does it hold up? It looks so baby fine, I was thinking of experimenting with semi-permanent. Mine is still looking "transluscent"...

It will probably come out a bit lighter than expected. Check my posts a few pages back about my first coloring. I had to go several shades darker to get my usual medium auburn. I used a dark warm brown semi-permanent and I look like my usual redhead. After it's gotten a little longer, I may go to a permanent. Right now, it's still too short to court disaster, so I'm playing it safe.

And it's GROWING!  I've had to color it every two weeks because the gray roots start showing on this very short hair.

Oh Nancy, THat's part of the reason I am thinking about semi-permanent - to see the growth! Funny to think that "light roots" (or roots of any different color) are a WELCOME thing! It would be excellent to have visible proof that it is growing.

I may do it! What color though! Gosh, the sky is the limit!!! I could go BLUE or something bizarro! he he he. (that feels good in a naughty sort of way!) LOL LOL

Springtime,  after watching and waiting for weeks, I took a mirror today and looked at the back of my head and THERE IS SOME COLOR COMING IN.  Still colorless (translucent) on top and sides, but there is a hint of color in the back.  What a great feeling, it's finally starting to happen.

Happy new year to all of you.  I hope for good health for all in 2009.

Last night I realized that my hair looks exactly like Buddy the Elf.  You know, Will Ferrell in that Elf movie?  That's me. Undecided

    But it's hair so I shouldn't complain....I'm almost 8 months post-chemo btw.

Happy New Year to all!  I am soooo happy to say goodbye to 2008, the suckiest year ever for me. May the new year bring better health and rapid hair growth to all!
