Christine47  just spoke with my daughter, and was telling her I needed help when she gets home for July 4th to post some pics.  She thinks i am soooo lame!

So true on all the unwanted hair coming back with a vengeance, just in time for summer.

My brother-in-law wear a short spikey hairdo and we are having a competition to see who hair grows faster. ha ha I bet he wins!  I tell him his may get longer but mine is fuller.

Hope those have been on here awhile don't mind a few questions from someone who's just now finding energy to care about getting my hair back.

I finished my neoadjuvant chemo last Friday (June 3).  To my surprise, I've had some peach fuzz growing on my head, I really thought a person remained bald throughout chemo with zero hair growth till it was done.

The peach fuzz reminds me of the downy feathers of a baby bird.  Yes, that's what it looks like.  Short, soft, wispy and white.

What products are recommended to aid in helping my hair grow in quicker?  I've heard some of you mention the brand Nioxin.  Should I buy both shampoo and conditioner? I believe I saw this for sale at JC Penney salons, or can I find it at a local drug store? Are there other name brands that any of you use?

Also, my onc said it was okay to try Rogaine, I know some of you use the generic form of it, my onc says, hey, it can't hurt to try it. I know some of you have had various results but I'm game to give it a go.

It's almost hard to believe I can even concern myself about my hair, that I've come this far.  I'm not overly impatient, it's just nice to be able to concentrate on something other than chemo SE's and look forward to the hair growth.

I think I have enough hair to go topless, but am waiting till my kids are out of school at the end of June.  Will go topless around town then and am on vacation so will decide about work then.

My issue is several people have said how I look younger in my wig and its given me self-confidence issues!  I don't know if its because the wig is straight (my normal hair and chemo hair is curly), has bangs and/or is slightly lighter color.

TheDivineMrsM I've used women's Minoxidil for years generic Walgreens brand. It goes on sale all the time. I actually like it better than Rogaine. It does work for me but it can take 3-6 months to see anything. When my hair line started to receded a bit it took 3 months for some of the hair to start growing. I also take Biotin.

I take biotin and i use nioxin 3 part system that i get at beauty brands which i think works. I skipped and month and then restarted and the growth did seem to slow a little. But my hair always grew fast, i used to hilite my hair blonde and the roots would come in like crazy.

I actually got excited in walmart tuesday.

    why you ask?

i had to buy shaving cream for the first time in 6 months!!

and when i got home, i excitedly showed my husband!!! lol!!!!!!

my hair is really taking off, not ready yet to bare it to the whole wide world, or at my job (home depot) but i'm getting close to being comfortable without a hat.

i started back to work yesterday...interesting... i have been getting wonderfully nice customers.... it's either i am refreshed from not working in 7 months, OR they see me in the hat and know what the hell is going on....... either way.. it's nice not being yelled at all the time by impatient people.

i am still in rads and cannot lift much, today a guy needed a bunch of carpet pad, i looked at him and said, "how bout a deal?, you lift it off the shelf, put it on the ground, and i cut it"

no big deal, he did it with a smile, and i was joking with him the whole time. i am finding out , i am a different person than i was pre-cancer. i don't get all wound up like a rubberband like i used to. just one thing, and person at a time Laughing

Marjie, I myself think your hair looks great and forget if you are going out without any covering or not, but if you aren't, you should.  It looks good.  HDangel, Isn't it amazing the little things we used to take for granted and now they seem like a big deal.  I really do think cancer gives us a whole new outlook.  I worked two days with no head cover and although I am a bit self conscious about my pink scalp my co-workers are telling me I look fine. It's not exactly a comb-over, but sort of is on top. Having it trimmed helped make it look thicker and the  gal who cuts it found it strange that just as I noted, it is the dark stuff that fell out and the white is hanging in there.  I still don't know how much more is going to fall out, but  as of right now it is sort of at a standstill so maybe it is just going to thin this time.  I am going to get a picture this weekend.

I haven't even finished my chemo (one more cycle to go!) and I'm anxiously awaiting ANY sign of hair growth anywhere.  I know, it's way too early.  I am using the Nixion three part system, have taken Biotin for years.  I was thinking, those of you who had this issue before...how long did it take to have those pesky chin hairs show up again?  Not that I want them, but that was one of the first things to go on me, and is that one of the first things to return?

THOSE STUPID CHIN HAIRS WERE THE FIRST TO COME BACK!! Yell

carberry - my pub friends called me a pirate too, they would all yell "MAAARJ".  Made me feel like Norm from Cheers LOL!

Thanks everyone for your compliments - some days I need all the boosts I can get.  I have been going topless since Easter and I think if I took a picture of my hair now, you would be able to see that it seems to be growing naturally into a faux-hawk.  It is getting consistently darker too - less and less grey.  I think I will just leave it be and see what comes of it.  It is a completely different colour from what I had which was a reddish brown that I would highlight with blonde.

marjie, you look great! You do look different in the pic with the glasses, but you've still got the same twinkle in your eyes and that beautiful smile.

I've got to take another pic of myself and post my progression, too. Maybe this weekend...

Fun to see your hair progression marjie.  Your coverage looks great!  And definitely way darker than your initial growth.  Maybe you will escape the need to color it!

hdangelbaby, I am not even close to the amount of hair you had one month agoUndecided.  At least in the last few days I don't need magnification to see my hair.  Your hair is so cute and femine too.  Thanks so much for sharing.
