Terry, your hair is looking good!  Mine came in curly too.  Someone in one of these threads mentioned the 1/2" Conair flat iron that I now use.  If the curls really bug you, it works well.  It worked wonders for me to get a bit of a style while mine was growing out.  I still use the 1/2" on my bangs and now get to use a 1" iron on the rest of my hair.

Hey ladies,  I have a couple of questions.  First of all, what does PFC mean? Is that Post First Chemo? Post Final Chemo? I'm doing a lot of speculating so I thought I would just ask :)

Also, does anyone have experience with hair falling out several weeks after the last treatment?  My mom had three treatments starting August 2nd and ending Sept. 13th and she's still losing her hair.  She hasn't lost any eye lashes or eye brows and she thought she was in the clear for her hair but last night a bunch more came out?  Any ideas?

    Thanks!

    allformymom....good guess..PFC...post final chemo!

I am not sure about the hair loss tho...it would depend on the type of chemo I guess....most of us lost our hair after the second treatment usually. Is your Mom all done chemo now after just 3 treatments? I had a total of 15 chemo treatments (there would have been 16 but the MO cancelled the one because I had blood clots). After my final weekly taxol (there were 12) I started to grow white fuzz. Then it slowly began to grow little by little.

I hope I answered your questions. I am sure others will help as well.

Terry71 your hair looks great...my last chemo was march 20 and I am still on herceptin so i think that slows down hair growth..Mine is getting curly and lots of salt mixed in lol. I have to say i get lots of compliments on my hair. i lost my eyelashes after my hair started to grow back, but they are back now. Honestly I was more upset about my eyelashes than my hair. I used to have long dark hair that i colored all the time, I am thinking of just keeping it short and gray I like the freedom of low maintenance!

jitters and Rockym : thank you very much. I have a few ok more than a few Umm silvers in there now. I was more upset about my hair it was Long, dark brown straight hair down past my butt....  Herceptin does not affect your hair regrowth, I just had my last one Sept 27th, my hair started coming back before my last chemo back in November... Will add a pic of what my hair looked like before.... I look completley different haha....

Terry - you have the same beautiful face with long or short hair!  I had long hair too, and more than a year after PFC, I'm still mourning it.

allformom - Some of us chose F-ing for the F in chemo :)  And, yes, with each chemo mom can lose more and more hair.  That's why many (self included) choose to buzz it short once it starts to shed.  I just couldn't deal with perpetual loss.  Hug your mom for us!

There is Me, Ronda, My oh so pregnant daughter ( Oct 24th due date) and my friend's daughter christina who is a Leukemia survivor....

Terry you had gorgeous long hair.  Do you plan to grow it out again?  Mine was as down to my butt as well.  I'm on the fence about trying to grow it once it comes back.  It took 5 years to get it that long.   I'll be on hormone therapy which I understand can thin the hair.  Short may be my future.

    Hi All,

I know I shouldn't complain but I have been through with chemo since March 2011 and my hair is only 4" long!!  When will it start to pick up pace and reach my chin?

Hope you're all doing OK and sorry to be so petty.

    Take care,

    Nancy

Hi Ann, thank you :-) I dont think I will let it get that long again, I had it cut before I shaved it and really liked that style, Will post a pic of what it looked like before the shave..... and Would like to keep it that length...

Nancy: your not being petty, no need to say sorry.... Some take longer than others to grow back, Mine is about 3 inches long, compared to 25 LOL  but some is better than none, and I will take what I can get haha....

MY doctor told me IF your taking herceptin hair growth is a bit slower and I am finding out it is compared to others on here that are NOT on herceptin but had chemo done around the same time as me. So I believe my doctor. I  take biotin 15,000mcg each day,  Folic Acid 1,600mcg each day and  Nioxin shampoo & condition . All this just even Before Chemo was finished. Oh well I will have to where a winter hat again this winter :(

Terry:  YOur hair looks cute both long and short!

I am 4 months PFC.  Everyone says my hair is really growing (I have had three trims), but it's only about 1 1/2" long. However, it is very thick, and my entire scalp has been covered for two months.  It looks like a short pixe cut.  It seems like it was growing quicly at first, but has slowed down. It may be just my imagination...

Thanks ladies for the advice on the lashes. I had asked my MO to prescribe Latisse and he did but strongly cautioned me that Latisse can cause permanent discoloration of the eyes. Anyone have experience with that?

Terry71, love your curls!  I have always had straight hair and wonder if mine will be curly.

Did not lose the hair on top of my head.  I attribute that to using a gallon ziplock bag of ice tucked under a hat during infusions.  I shaved my head 2 weeks after 1st treatment and lost all but the top.It seems to growing straight and gray.  Back of head is growing in darker.

I now have scalp coverage, but it doesn't seem to really be growing longer!  I would love to have a short pixie! Soon I hope!

Everyone wants to touch my hair, too.....it's so soft. My husband likes to brush it every night when I get home from work.  That's something he never did before.....lol. I'm 13 weeks PFC and have full, thick coverage but I'm not brave enough to go topless yet.  I'm saving that for my birthday next month.

I've had my hair back for over a year now, but all of the sudden I am noticing that it seems thinner.  I took prenatal vitamins to try to jump start my hair growth after chemo and I thought they worked wonders, so I might try those again.  Has anyone else experienced hair thinning after being 1 year+ PFC?  I'm only 39, so I'd like to find a product or supplement to combat this issue.
