i'm seeing progress in re filling in but still a long ways from ditching the wig! i'm amazed at all of the different directions the hair is growing! obvioulsy never noticed that before when i had hair! and i am wondering about a trim but i too am afraid to lose even one bit!!!

as to color-a few years back i stopped coloring and highlighting to see hwo it would progress toward gray--now i am not sure! i guess i'll have to wait til there is more volume and length to make that call!at 58 i am proud of whatever gray i have and wish it looked like CAYH's!!!

It's funny, Lumpy - I get so many compliments on my hair from complete strangers now.

Those that know me, gush about it too, but then in the same breath say "...but I could NEVER do that!!!"  Which pretty much negates the compliment.

I'm going to give it until Xmas before I decide if'n I'm going to start colouring again -

I'd REALLY like to not have to, but I REALLY don't want it to make me feel older, either..
am sure you can all relate to that!

KCB - no estrogen blockers here & I also got the facial fuzz which wasn't there before chemo.

I just gingerly used my hubby's electric shaver & it's not come back at all...yay!

Did you cut off white fluff or evened out and styled it?

AEM, You look great! Love the color and style on you.  Have you ever worn your hair short before?

SpecialK, My hair was the same exact color as yours when it came in.  My fuzz started showing in April.  Mothers day I colored my hair.  I am 21 weeks and have cut the sides and back 3 times, my top is growing so slow.

I can't get pictures to post for some reason??  I've tried to publish my photos to an on line site, still won't work!!

Love seeing all the beautiful pictures.

sandlake - my top grew in last and is the thinnest - don't worry, it should fill in.  Unfortunately, the front is what we are mostly looking at when we look straight at ourselves in the mirror!

Thanks guys - I was so happy to get some highlites in there - I had used a temp color which took care of the white fuz thankfully I got rid of that on the first cut. Then my hair was just "sharpie" black..lol. This time my hairdresser had to strip the color first before getting the highlites in there - seems like this cut really put it in good condition and thickened it up. I just want the bangs and the back to come in a bit more - then I'll keep it like that

This is my first post.  I finished my chemo Aug 27.  I was on Adriamycin/Cytoxan/Taxotere.  I do not think my hair has grown at all...anywhere.  I will be 63 next week and my hair was mostly white.  I used to have "premature white hair" because it started changing color when I was in my late  20s.  At my age it is no longer premature.  I have never colored it.  At this point I just want to see some hair growth.  I do not care what color. It can be dark and curly. I just want it to start growing.   My wig is very good and many people think that it is my hair just styled differently when they first see me.   I hate the wig, it is hot and itchy and when people hug me I am afraid it will shift around.

I have read many posts on here and they have given me hope, but I am getting frustrated.  I guess I better start looking for some warmer hats because I am thinking I will not be getting hair for Christmas.

TN - hang in there you are only about 5 weeks pfc. The first 4 weeks chemo is still doing its thing. So right now you probably only have a weeks worth of growth - watch how fast it will take off in the next few weeks !!!

TNNURSE........I finished my chemo on July 16th. I had nothing until I arrived at the beach on August 23 (5 weeks PFC). The first day I woke up, I noticed some growth. It was light, but there. By the time I left 10 days later, I had significant growth. Everyday I had more and more.  I'm now about 10 weeks PFC and I have full coverage of thick hair. It started out light but is now very dark with some gray in it. I hope to go "topless" by the end of the month.  Hang in there......it will just start to happen suddenly!

AEM47, thanks for your encouraging words.  I did not think I would be so anxious about my hair.  But it turns out that I  am.  I thought that I wanted my tastebuds most and am happy to taste food again, but now I want to look like myself.

rn4babies, I am hoping for similar results.  Many animals grow thicker hair as winter approaches, maybe we will, too.  I am encouraged by your results.

TNN hang in there it seems really slow at first and next thing you know it's all back. SOme people's hair grows back faster than others so be patient. I just started to see sprouts at about 4 weeks but I kept looking cause I wasn't sure I was really seeing hair grow. I finally documented it all with pics and then I could really see the progress. I suggest you try that even if you are the only one to ever see them. Here is my little time line of my hair growth I hope this is encouraging.

Carrol2, wow, you look great. This is encouraging.  It is better than just looking at yourself in a mirror.  Unlike many on here, I will be content with my white hair to return.  I think I would be happy with any color hair.  Thanks for your help

TNNurse...I am 68 and am 9 months PFC and have a full head of gray hair....was easy for me to decide not to colour it anymore..had to quit at some time and at least with chemo, it decides for you and you will never have the "grow out roots". I am quite content with the new colour even tho I had to buy new glasses with frames that complement my new colour. Hang in there Wink

    AEM

What a great cut and colour!  Gosh I can't wait until Herceptin is done in January so I can catch up somewhat LOL!  I do have full coverage and have pretty much ditched the wig for hats.  I have yet to have a trim but I think I might in the next couple of weeks to tidy up the nape.

    TNNurse

Like Schiatzi said hang in there.  It does feel like it takes forever to grow but it will grow. I'm almost 6 months PFC and it's still not quite a good Judy Dench yet, almost though.

I had a funny thought while looking at the hair growth- eye brows- yes! Unibrow not so much. As I was plucking the unibrow hairs I wondered, ( perish the thought of plucking a good eyebrow hair) but,... Since eyebrows and lashes fall out a few more times over the next year due to all being synchronized by the chemo- what if I randomly plucked an eyebrow here and there over the next few months? Could I create a randomization quicker and not go through a year of falling out and coming back??

Just a question- not sure re results.

I find myself on here less and less...a good sign.  I got my first official cut and color the other day with some highlights.  What a difference it made in my appearance and how I feel about my uber-short hair!  AEM - you look fabulous!  That dark hair really makes your beautiful eyes pop...a terrific look for you!

nkb - not everyone has the multiple losses of lashes and brows.  I never lost all the brows, lost most lashes, but when they grew back in they stayed and did not fall out again.

kelloggs - yay for cut, color and highlights!  Makes one feel pretty darn normal!
