Hair Hair Hair - Another question

I have the lightfuzzy facial hair too, finished chemo mid June. Mine has varied, I think it's still figuring out it's growth cycle. I wax it sometimes and sometimes I shave it, same thing I did before chemo. I don't think mine is much worse than before, my make up just looks better without the fuzzies.

oh how depressing, facial hair issues too. Ive had fine, blonde facial hair I think since menopause. It's not obvious until quite close so Ive never done anything to it. I really hope it doesn't get worse post chemo, I'd be reluctant to shave it for fear if making it worse. So I'm interested to know what others have done about it

Hello all,
RE: facial hair - tiny fuzz on cheeks, even under eyes (!).... I had it too... but it has mostly just gone away on its own. My last infusion was July 4th (in Canada so not a holiday). I hadn't noticed it for a long time and had forgotten about it until these posts so just went and peered in the mirror.... a little bit is still on cheeks but it is hardly noticeable.

Lovepugs77- Thanks for all your amazing information. Super helpful. May you continue your fast growth in all the places you wish for, and not in the others. Omg the facial hair ugh!

I took a razor to my face a month ago and there has been no regrowth at all. It really just came off like fluff

To Integragirl... thank you for the compliment - and hoping your hair is continuing on its return to normality! Holding out hope for all!

CanadianGirl, I am 16 weeks since my last infusion and my hair is Eleven from Stranger Things, season 1 .

Jenniferrx- what are those fabulous eyelashes in the 21 week photo??!!!! Are those from latisse?
0 -
Haha no... those are extensions. I used Latisse right after finishing chemo for about 2-3 months and my natural lashes and brows did grow in very well but I decided to treat myself with extensions for a while. I am however using Latisse again so I can "go natural" again. It does work very well.
Thanks all for the tips on facial "fuzz"... I think I'm going to try to exfoliate a few times first. I just can't imagine shaving!! I'm so scared of getting stubble/regrowth on my face... yikes.
@ MamaOz... Your hair looks gorgeous. Your curls are beautiful. I know the feeling of wanting to colour it though... I did the same thing last week and sent a pic to my hair stylist asking her if it was long enough to colour. Thankfully it was! I was on the fence whether to go light or dark, as highlights were not yet an option. I chose light and since I have so much grey, I thought it would look more deliberate with dark(ish) roots growing in on light hair (than salt and a little pepper hair growing in on dark hair!) My roots haven't started to grow out yet but in the next couple of weeks I'll get an idea of how it looks against the light (dyed) hair colour. I'll keep you posted.
@ lovepugs77...Your hair is growing in beautifully and looks really healthy. Best of luck to you! I actually liked taking the pics and although everyone is different, at around the stage you're at now it was growing so fast I could see a difference every couple of days! Would love to see more pics soon if you're up to sharing. Hugs.

I colored mine whether it was long enough or not. It was so much whiter in the front and on the sides, that you could see the white sideburns under my wig, and I couldn’t stand it. Now that it’s colored, I can see the growth rate, and especially in front, it’s a lot slower than before chemo, but it’s growing.

thanks jennifer! I have appt tomorrow! I do like my hair just not on me! Lol. Im thinking the opposite adding touches of dark on top with some gray left in. But we shall see what my hairdresser thinks

@ PauletteK... Hang in there. I know how frustrating it is waiting for your hair to grow in. Despite it's "superficial" aspect, it's got to be one of the hardest tests of my patience in this whole ordeal! Superficial maybe, but certainly a big part of who we are as women!
@ MamaOz I think that will look fabulous on you! I look forward to seeing the result if you feel like sharing.

I ditched the wig today, couldn’t stand it any longer

I’m not sure some of the thinning on the sides isn’t due to my CPAP mask. My hairdresser had mentioned it prior to all of this BC mess

This is a lovely video made by the people here at BreastCancer.org about losing your hair during chemo. I submitted a few pictures and I appear in all stages of hair loss (one of my pictures is of just before my husband shaved my head). Did anyone else submit photos? I think they did a wonderful job!

Yes it’s a good video, I cried so many times losing my hair, now I think about it, I still cry ...... it reminds me so much about this journey... sorry I got emotional!
Jennifer - I am not going to rush it, sure I wish I can see some fuzz also I’m telling myself that I know my chemo was working so well it took out all my hair also!

Opinions ladies, on best hair growth shampoo? My oncologist won’t allow minoxidol, although I need to receive further confirmation on thatthis week. Your experiences are much anticipated and appreciated!!

hello, did anyone's hair grow back in during chemo? I'm on Abrexane and Capecitabine and will be on chemo for the rest of my life. I'm stage 4 metastasized. Is there any hope I'll get my hair back?
0 -
Bhigs, Not all chemo makes hair fall out, ask your doctor if its a side effect of what you are getting. Sending hugs.

To Erwells50... Your hair looks cute, but I completely understand about thinning hair... I was on docetaxel too and my hair, once very thick, is now incredibly sparse, with bald patches on the crown. Docetaxel seems to be very risky for good hair regrowth with a goodly percentage of women who don't get their hair back at all - I believe there are law suits all over the world on this. Where there is really slow hair regrowth, or sparse hair growth, over all - unfortunately - it seems to be when docetaxel was one of the chemo drugs. Also arimidex as well as tamoxifen both can cause thinning of the hair as well.

MommaOz- Your hair looks AMAZING! I can't imagine how emotional and thrilling your first hair coloring must have been. It's beautiful!
Thank you for recommendations. I ordered Revita shampoo, but a month to even ship. Omgosh, must be a great product. Out of stock everywhere.
Did you use antidandruff shampoo Nizoral to start the growth? My hair has started to grow on Taxol pretty well. But can't hurt to hit that as well. I think I can find that in astore pretty easily.
Keep on growing and healing!
With gratitude!
