Sydsym, I just found out I have Castro oil in the house so I put some yesterday hope it helps my hair grow. My hair grows slow anyway so I just need to be patient.

imageLadies, 3 weeks and a half post taxol and A/C. Should I be shampooing more or less? I’m trying to figure it out and with what? You guys are looking amazing. I’m not ready to face that camera!

Beautiful. If I pass you in the grocery aisle, I would not know you had been on a cancer journey!

4 weeks PFC, last night I saw the teeniest tiniest eyelashes. Oh joy! Happy New Year.

Also, weirdly, there are 2 longer & stiff white lashes growing over one eye. No wonder I've felt like there was something in that eye for weeks. Any one else have this happen?

Good afternoon! Looks like I missed a few pictures- you ladies all look wonderful!

My hair continues to come along. I'm wondering if any of you, who are a little further along, dealt with hair coming in very gray? My eyebrows came back brown but my hair is growing in gray. I'm 47 with young kids and I'm just not ready to go gray yet. I'm wondering when I could start coloring it and if I should go with a lighter color? I'm worried about very light roots and my previous dark brown hair color. I'm not the best at maintenance. A couple of my friends are coming Friday to give me their opinions but curious what you guys think?

    Have a great day!

hi Ladies, I had my last chemo infusion on 12/4 so am 4 weeks PFC. I have just a little hair growth so am looking at taking Biotin (B7). I have found so many different posts and blogs about people taking it and am really hoping it stimulates some growth for me.

My big question for those of you who took it or are taking it is HOW MUCH did/do you take?? I see several different brands with dosage varying from 100 mcg to 10,000 mcg, which is a huge difference. I'd really appreciate any success stories on dosage. Thanks in advance!!

scaligirl - I've been taking Nature's Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails for a couple years now. It has 2500mcg biotin along with 15mg Vit C and 15IU Vit E. I included it on the list of meds/supplements I was taking at the start of treatment & wasn't told I couldn't take it, so I've continued taking it daily. I've had 3 of my 4 AC chemos (#4 is this Friday) and have seen no change in my nails. I don't know if nail changes are an issue on AC or if I should be more concerned about it when I start Taxol in a few weeks. Three weeks after my first chemo when my scalp became quite tender & sore and I was spending more time in the shower trying to get all the hair untangled off my hands than washing the rest of me, I chopped off all my hair & shaved my head. A week later I had to shave again because the stubble was annoying. Since then it still insists on growing, so I figure who am I to fight it if it wants to grow! Especially since I've read of others who started actually seeing regrowth while on Taxol. So I figure I just have a bit of a head start, and I credit it to the biotin.

Scaligirl, I'm taking 10,000 mcg of biotin once per day. I also put Lashboost by Rodan and Fields on my brows and lashes once per day. I started after chemo. My hair is coming in great as are my eyebrows (in fact they are fuller now than before chemo). My hair is very gray as well and wondered about when to color.

I was taking 5000 mcg but I just started a new bottle and it's 10,000 mcg. Not sure I can actually absorb that much but I got it anyway. Hair has been coming in great, started growing 6 weeks after chemo ended

Flynn ... I was gray before but not the white that came first round. Then the next growth was silver.

Now I am black and silver.

I waited until the third growth before I colored. Understand I only lost about 40% of my hair and I kept it buzzed.

I do a reverse frosting. I purchase a Nice and Easy Soft Black. My DH pulls it thru a cap and I put the soft clack color on for about 8 minutes. I color QUICKLY these days!

    Best wishes,

    Coach Vicky

Thanks for your input Coach Vicky! I do wonder if my color will change again, as well. I guess time will tell.

Sorry, I don’t have any input on the biotin. I had planned to use it but my hair started coming in pretty fast shortly after surgery and I haven’t had a chance to look for it.

Flynn, we are the same age and I am also shocked by all my grey. I am keeping it in a pixie for now while the top grows out. I tell myself that it's a young, hip, look. 😀 Gigantic earrings and a couple go-to BRIGHT lipsticks help.

T-Sue, you’re right, my friends are telling me silver hair is super in style. I have fair skin so apparently that blends well. I still have to think about this but I guess I should embrace my new look! I didnt play around with cool wigs but maybe this is my chance to have some fun!!

Hi everyone. I had my 4th and last Taxotere/Cytoxan treatment on Wednesday. I’ve read through this thread for ideas to promote hair growth. I will be taking an AI. See my onc in 4 weeks to discuss.. I had extremely thick hair before treatment. I lost about 1/2 2+ weeks after first treatment and buzzed it. I still have most of my lashes and brows. Underarm and legs have already started growing a little. I lost my dark hair, but still have lots of gray stubble on top. The slower growth stories with Taxotere scare me. I think I’ll try Biotin. I’ve been using Alra shampoo, Nioxen conditioner and Witch Hazel with Aloe plus Jojoba oil to treat my chemo dry scalp

1 week after treatment vs. 46 weeks after treatment.

I also have pictures of every week in between if needed. At about 32 weeks after chemo, I started using a more organically "made to order" hair growth pill than the one I was originally using once i found out most store brands sit on the shelf for about 1 to 3 years before consumed :-( ....possibly not a big deal, but I'm trying to be more intentional about staying in remission...

The hair growth results have been amazing. I'll keep you posted

MamaOz- love your hair. It has grown back lovely. I am about the same stage of post chemo as you, but I have less hair growth, but its not too far off. You look super great!

OrangeDaisy- I was on taxotere and all the commercials about hair not growing back scared me. My hair is growing fine, I think it is a little bit slower than some of the others on here, but it is growing. Also, I am still getting Herceptin, that may make a difference. Your hair will grow.

DespiteEverything- Amazing hair growth and you are beautiful.
