My hair, eye brows, lashes, regrowth process seemed to take forever because I longed for it the moment it was gone!!!. Here is a pic of my hair at 15 weeks PFC. Herceptin and perjeta may have played a role slowing my hair growth. I was started taking a biotin loaded HSN hair pill daily that i swear by and my hair really started growing like a weed! And I haven't even hit the 1 year mark PFC yet!! Ill post week 46 pfc below!

My last Taxol chemotherapy treatment was July 24th. My hair started to slowly grow back, around the end of September. Now I have about an inch of growth, except for sparseness on the very top of my head, and a large stubborn bald spot on the back of my head. I read that if you stop using Minoxidil, the hair that it helped grow, would fall out again. Has anyone had any luck in temporarily using Minoxidil, to assist hair regrowth after chemo?

Ladies with hair growth - looking good! Gives us hope for sure. Like Paulette, I can still shed a few tears over my bald head. I just done feel like me without my hair. And if one more person says to me “it’s just hair” I will scream! So great to have somewhere to go where people get it.

One positive is that I get to try some new hair styles - my hair was crazy long forever. Might be fun

imageI've enjoyed, most of the time lol, the growing out. It seems to change every week and I have to figure out how to do it all over again and change products. Sometimes I have to it with a hat!

I've enjoyed the growing out process and stages for the most part. It seems to change every week and I have to figure out again how to style it and what products to use. Sometimes it's a hat! Lol image

Your hair looks fantastic Twills! I know what you mean about the changes. I've never bought so much hair product in my life. Every week, I'm looking for something different to keep up with my latest "style". Currently looking for something to flatten it out a bit... it sticks up and looks so fuzzy!

Despite and TWillis, you hair looks terrific. Thank you for sharing. I too am trying to appreciate my new, short hair. Not much needs to be done with it now, but I have some pomeade ready!

I know what you mean, I'm a stylist so I have tons of products to experiment with but it's still been a challenge. Just this past week I was able to use my mini flat iron so I used a keratin smoothing treatment and flat ironed it in. That really helped hold my style and keep the humidity from curling/fuzzing it. I haven't had to use as many styling products either. I feel like everything is growing really fast except my bang area, it kinda blends ok since I have a cowlick there anyway. It just started growing at the end of July so I'm thankful:)

Oh a mini flat iron... great idea! I'll try that. I've always had long, straight hair so I didn't think of that. It might help tame the new curls and fuzz. Thanks for the tip. :)

trills, love your hair. As a stylist what do you recommend to help growth. Also I read much earlier that some people shave of the first regrowth to help promote their hair growth? What is your opinion?

    Thanks everyone:)

I'm not sure shaving would help actual hair growth, I kept mine. There was no way I was getting rid of any growth when I first starting getting it! Lol

I do believe that keeping my hair shaped has helped the growing process, I just don't get as frustrated with it that way. So if the first growth doesn't looks so good or is stragly then maybe using clippers to take that first growth down could be helpful in that aspect. Mine came in fairly thick so that made the difference for me. I do however keep the back short and tapered up while the top is growing in, no way I could rock a mullet which is what I would have otherwise. I could not believe how much better I felt after I did that, it felt so much more stylish and much more like and intentional style.

I used the Nizerol too, just to keep the follicle free and clear and accepting of new hair. I stopped soon after it started growing. Also used Nioxin Minoxidil after chemo ended and then stopped that after it became aggravating to use anymore, the wetness after I used it made it curl up and messed up my style lol, so maybe used that for 3-4 months or so. I take Biotin when I can remember to take it and thats pretty much it. Now I just use good balanced shampoos and conditioners to keep it healthy as it grows. Sorry to say there is no magic potion out there, although there are plenty of products that people are willingly spending their money on. Happy hair growth everyone!!

despite everything, your hair is spectacular. I think I'll get onto the biotin too. I'm assuming you start after chemos finished.

Twillis, thanks for your advice. When is it ok to start putting colour in your hair? I'm sure mines going to come in grey, Ive only had a splattering of grey up to now

Binniebin- I started biotin right after A/C and while on taxol with MO ok. I sprouted hair three weeks into Taxol. Not sure if it’s the biotin, but I’m keeping on it.

Binniebin, I colored mine about a month after it started growing but hair and scalp felt healthy so I felt comfortable doing it. I've always used a demi color so its low ammonia. The lightener for the blonde didn't touch my scalp so I didn't worry about that either. If my hair had felt super fine or fragile I would have waited longer. My hair did not start growing until about 6 weeks after I completed taxol but I did start biotin during taxol, MO was fine with that. I don't think that biotin can compete with taxol but I tried. L

Ok..so I want to give some encouragement to the ladies in the thick of things still. I am 8 months post last chemo...and just had my last Herceptin yesterday. My hair grows slow...but it is thick and tends to stick up if I don't use heavy duty conditioner. I think it may grow faster now that I'm done Herceptin. My skin is looking better too... steam rooms..drink water and eat well with exercise. Also, a good face cream at night. Started taking biotin after Taxol was finished with multi vits and other vitamins. I just put a photo up on my avatar..post chemo....don't know how to post a photo on here otherwise. Stay strong.

So I had bmx a couple weeks ago and have been pretty consumed with that, not my hair (for once😬). Yesterday, I noticed that I could feel hair where my eyebrows are supposed to be. At bedtime, I wiped off my eyebrow liner and I swear baby eyebrows grew in during the day. I didn’t even notice anything in the am but much progress occurred during the day. I think I alsosee follicles about to come thru on my head. Finally, progress is coming!!

    Love the progress pics, ladies!!

Goooo Flynn! Thanks for posting your photos. That’s very helpful for to know about growth. My husband checks my head a couple a times a week and he kept saying the back of my head is growing so much more than the rest of my head. I was worrying that maybe there was something wrong, now I know that’s how it may go.

Hope you are recovering well from your BMX, I found recovery much easier than I anticipated, wishing you much growth and healing!!

I keep hoping that my hair will grow back in now that I'm on Taxol, but after #3 still not sign of hair. However, my chin hairs and leg hairs are actually starting to grow back in. (Yippee!) Is there a progression that anyone has noted (e.g. leg hairs grew back 4 weeks before head hair).

It's freezing cold here in Ohio and I'd LOVE to get my hair back for the insulation, if not for aesthetic reasons.

Flynn - you are doing great for only 6 weeks since last treatment! I think I can see little hairs on the top of your head too... you will have good hair coverage I think.

Re: me... My sides came in before the top too. Alas, I am 23 weeks PFC and still have a few bare-ish patches on crown, and thin hair on top... but a friend of mine has a neighbour who had breast cancer and she told me that her hair didn't start to fill in until a year after she finished.... so holding onto hope!
