Hi everyone.....I'm at my sister's again.  I've discovered I become a different person here.  The OLD Genia.....before all this happened.  My serenity is here.....and my comfort!!!!   So needless to say....I will be a regular visitor here....lol.  Actually she begged me come back down this weekend.  She said when I went home they both looked at each other and said "I miss her"  HA.....nice to know I'm loved and missed......

I'm going to a new church today that I may start going to on a regular basis.   Since I moved to Ohio 14 years ago....I haven't found a church I really felt comfortable in.  My sister and brother in law know the pastor of this church very well.....and they think I would really love going there.  So I'm gonna give it whirl.   I need to be in church and to be with members of that church and the support they would give me....

May you all have a wonderful day today.....

    Love you all.......hugssssss

I read that the Advair I'm taking for asthma lessens the effectiveness of the heart medication, so I guess I won't take a heart pill today, and wait till I talk to my doctor tomorrow. I did find a generic for Coreg, so I can get either heart med for only $15/month. I just need to find out which one to take... I don't need to be worrying about getting congestive heart failure again...Yell

I am taking my b/f to the airport in 2 hours. Cry

At least I have 3 reports to type to keep my mind busy the rest of the day.

Genia - How far is your sister's? I'm so glad you find comfort there.

Lei - Have a good Sunday!

    Hugs! Kiss

Yes Springie it can be.....I've only been one time......but I did enjoy being there.  I'm sure as I go more and get to know more people it will be even better.

I need church....and I need all of you.....my family......and God's family and most of all God walking beside me.  There are days I'm not so strong......this evening has been one of them.  I've had memories flooding my brain of my parents and I'm not so sure why.  Memories that have made me smile....and memories that have made me cry.  Not because they make me sad....but because I miss them so very much.  I guess being at my sisters has that effect.  It's a good thing.....but a hard thing at the same time.

I'm babbling.....but it feels good to get those feelings out.

    Nite everyone......love you so much

    Hi Girls,

Genia, glad you have found a new church, I am sure it will do you good.

I have just been to get my hair trimmed again, it does get out of control quite fast.  It is soooooo curly now, my dr asked it I had had a perm.  My husband said it wasn't like this before. I actually really like it, just wish there was a bit more of it.

My sister in law has just been to stay for 10 days, she left last night. I always get a twitching eye when she is here, this time was no different, she drives my carzy, she doesn't do anything nasty at all, but she is a very negative person. I even got a sty (red lump thing) on my eye this time. She left last night and today it has gone!

We went to the races yesterday with a group of friends, it was good fun, I had never been before so really enjoyed it. I broke even, didn't lose any money or win. I did pick 4 winners thought, but I only betted a couple of dollars.

I am looking forward to my trip to England at the weekend. I am going to have foot reflexology and a leg massage before I go, as I have been told that on long flights we are at a slightly higher risk of thrombosis whilst on tamox.

Have a great day everyone. Singapore Chris

Chris, we really are twins, I had a hair trim, though my first one, yesterday! also, very curly! There were ringlettes on my "cape"!! It looke more like a hair do rather than a mop at this point, which is good I think. THought you are right, still so short! Can't wait for more bangs at least...

Also, when something bothers me, I also get an eye twitch! Typically, it is something that I am not quite aware of, under the surface. It makes me stop and think, ok, what is eating at me?

Rainy here in Raleigh NC USA all you lovelies. WHO HAS THE SUN???

    Spring...

PS> Safe trip to the UK, Chris! Give my regards to London, one of my fav. cities ....

Spring - We have the sun here - going to be 95 again! yuck! I get prickly heat stinging all over my hands and arms when I get a hot flash now, so I am afraid of going out in the heat today. But I have to go to radiation at noon. #21 for me and Robin today! Laughing

Apparently, the newer beta blockers are ok for people with asthma, but if you are on Advair (which I am), it is less effective. Undecided

I have 7 regular treatments and 6 blasts to go, and I'll be done May 7th...

Sorry I haven't been posting here...I've been pretty busy the last week or so! Took a trip downstate to spend some time with my family, got a massage, and I'm signing a lease on Wednesday for my new apartment and moving in on Friday. I'm feeling fantastic, and am looking forward to finishing rads and taking a break before the scans start.

I'm glad that everyone's looking so good... and I want to thank Lei and Jane for the funny and sweet cards that I find in my mailbox!

    Love to all...

Spring - I have 15 more rads. I'll bet Robin has less. Undecided Robin???

When I asked my cardiologist about the beta blocker and Advair, he said,"Are you breathing ok?" I said yes, "then the medicine is ok to take." ...so obviously, the reverse could have been true.

After all that, I couldn't fill the prescription, unless I wanted to pay $118. The time-release version doesn't come in a generic, so now I have to wait for the doctor to approve the non time-release version.

Between the heart issues and the stinging pain during the hot flashes, I'm on the verge of tears. Cry I called my primary doctor to see if he could help, and he can see me a week from Wednesday. Yell

hugs (I need lots of 'em, please) Kiss

    Hi girls,

Oh Juli, you poor thing, big, big, hugs to you.

Where is the stinging pain when you get the hot flashes? I sometimes get a horrible pricky feeling along my arms and chest, but it doesn't last long.  I hopy your doctor can come up with something to help you. I can't beleive you have to wait so long to be seen. I know you probably don't feel like it, but are you making enough noise?

Glad to hear you girls are nearing he end of rads, what a party we could have, if we got together!

Jane, thanks so much for the lovely easter rabbit card.

I have just been for an appointment with a lymphadema specialist as a precaution. She was excellent.  She is making me a sleeve and advises me to wear it when flying.  My surgeon and oncol said it wasn't necessary, but as she is rushing it for me ready for the weekend, I will wear it. There is a hand glove and an arm one. She suggested doing the exercises everyday. I had heard so much about what to do and what not to do, I just wanted the whole story from the horses mouth. I feel in contol now and will know what to do if I am away and have any swelling in my arm.

Take Care girls. Singapore Chris x

Chris - The stinging during my hot flashes goes from my hands up to my elbows. But when my entire body is exposed to heat, like today's 98 degree weather, the stinging is all over my legs too. I don't know if this is related to having a prickly heat rash during my last 2 1/2 weeks of pregnancy, 26 years ago, or from the neuropathy, or radiation.

I've been having hot flashes since September so why did this stinging thing start last week? Did my hot flashes get hotter? The new heart meds?

What kind of specialist would have the answers?

Juli, I think a skin specialist is the answer, ask your onco who he would recommend.

I used to have prickly heat as a child and sometimes as an adult, if I get hot and sweaty for too long I get it. Staying cool is the only answer, do you have aircon? The fact that your stinging only started recently means it will probably go away just as fast. It is probably an intolerence to all the drugs you have to take. I am sure there is another drug you can take, it's never ending isn't it. Call the dr and tell them you can't wait until next Wednesday. I am sending you calming soothing vibes aimed especially at your hands up to your elbows and your legs.Kiss Hope you are managing to sleep.

    Take Care, Singapore Chris x

    Hey Juli,

Have you started back on Herceptin yet?  Your symptoms seems similar to mine.  I have shooting pain on my hands going up to my elbows and also in my feet.  Weird, as the neuropathy had started to get better.  I've also been getting many more hot flashes than before, and it is definitely affecting my quality of life. I also find it interesting that symptoms you had when you were pregnant have come back.  When I was delivering my son, I would get extreme temperature shifts (hot flashes??).  As soon as I got my epidural, it stopped. So where I was inclined to think the temp shifts were just hormonal, as soon as I got my epidural (which wouldn't have affected my hormones), the shifts subsided. I think the way my body reacts to pain, is with temperature shifts or hot flashes.  I'm wondering if the trauma associated with rads is causing my body to have these temperature shifts?  Outwardly, I show no signs of any issues with rads, but I can feel the tightness and know that somewhere inside, they are doing their damage - which is a good thing.  I think I may try some mild pain relievers and see how that affects the hot flashes. I'll let you know if I see any improvement. I'm also have a lot of nausea and stomach pain.  After today's rad, I'll be 1/2 through!! Yeah!!

Colleen - I was told when I was pregnant that the only thing that would get rid of the prickly heat was to deliver the baby! But I don't know if that was a hormonal thing or an internal body temp thing. Anyone know?

I can't re-start Herceptin. My ejection fraction is back down to 35, which means I am in danger of congestive heart failure again. Hopefully we'll get the heart meds staightened out soon!

Can't wait till Thursday... it will be 20 degrees cooler here! Laughing

oh Julie, !!! It sounds like neuropathy "stuff".  THursday and 20 degrees cooler c'mon for Julie!!!

Today I go to get a bone scan to see if I can get my bones on Zometa to prevent bone mets. The ONC ordered it when I asked about Zometa... apparently, she can't write a script for MET prevention, that would be "off label" but could if my bones need it. I think they will, I've had 2 scans in the last 4-5 years, and my GP wanted me on Fosomax, so I am hopeful!!!

hey ladies- have been lurking for a while and holding to the phrase if you can't say something nice don't say nuttin at all....Things have been SOOOO crazy here. Boss lady is away at a conference and will be getting a big award tonight and they wanted us all to write letters for her....YUK...took a long time to write it but did congratulate her without compromising myself or lying about other stuff.  After she called us today ranting from long distane we laughed and said we were going to call the committee and ask for our letter back!! LOL...

Still having mood swings from the tamox...the server at work died today, daughter was working the store the night they got robbed..(she's fine) and daughter herself is a WHOLE long story herself.  I so wish she would decide to grow a BRAIN!!!! But i am doing okay and have been keeping up with you ladies.

Genia- hang in there. HUGS to you.

Hope eveyone is enjoying the weather. (JULI- sorry it's so hot!!!)

Just know that while i am not posting cause i don't want to be a whiner i am keeping up with all of you and think of you all often.

Also please pray from a dear friend of ours and her daughter (14) that was just dx'd with a bone tumor. They will do more scans later this week to determine what type of chemo/treatments they will have to do.

We have all been through so much this past year..I pray that soon all of us are posting happy thoughts and can say we are pain free and loving life.....I PRAY that day will come SOON

Juli, I had bone DENSITY scans done to see if I was trending towards osteoperosis (sp?) you know, old lady bones disease. This is way different than a real BONE scan.

I had one done yesterday again. If my bones are trending low, maybe I can get on those Zometa infusions (you've seen those comercials, for "Reclast" etc? Meg the "on the go" woman?) it's the same stuff as Boneva or Fosomax, but in infusion form, and apparently, it has been shown to prevent bone mets. It does soemthing to the bone tissue so it won't accept the cancer, or the cancer can't attach. Something like this.

I want it! Leave no stone unturned! My motto.

    Yoga tonight.

Lisa, you are Betty's right? (I swear I think I have the names hooked up to the code names, and then I start messing it up again!) Work sounds like a chore. Hang in there. I just keep focusing on the pay check during phases like that!!! lol
