I want to trade my side lymphedema for broken nails. Or maybe I don't. I think a change would be good.
LOL!!!! As if we could choose! Oh, right. I would choose that Cancer didn't exist!!!
This Friday I am getting a French pedicure and a massage for my birthday! I wonder what the massage person is going to think when they see my body full o' scars from all my reconstruction?Oh well. Hopefully, they will count their lucky stars!!!

I admire you pedicure women my feet are so ugly i wouldn't dream of letting anyone near them!!! Course if i did they would give up quick..some ugly can't be prettied up LOL
I don't go off of this threa very often. In the back of my mind i keep waiting for the other shoe to drop especially with this port removal coming up...Worst fear is that something comes up before then

I am hoping to get a manicure/pedicure tomorrow or Friday. I have a gift certificate that a friend gave me shortly after my dx, but didn't have a chance to use. Luckily, it doesn't have an expiry date, so I hope they honor it!

I have a manicure/pedicure scheduled for Friday after work, too. There's no way I'd want anybody to see my nasty feet on a cruise ship! I still have fingernail problems as well so I've had tips put on and I get them filled every 3 weeks.

Spring-So sorry to hear about your side lymphedema. Have you had it for a while? Are you seeing a lymphedema therapist? I hope it resolves soon. You've been through enough.

Li, yes I see specialists. Its a chronic condition. It never really goes away, but it can be worse sometimes than others, so i am learning how to prevent it. I exercise a lot, and when your heart rate goes up, it causes your lymph system to pump, whatever!!!!

Juli- I have an appointment for my yearly gyno appt AND an appt with the surgeon on the 10th of June. Surgeons receptionist says she thinks he does his port removals in day surgery BUT they are not well known for correct information...we'll see
We painted our den this past weekend and it I LOVE the color..kinda caramel- or coffee with cream LOL
Its been cold here the past few days- southerners call it blackberry winter...BRRR
Hard to believe but pre-k graduation is May 12th and our shools will get out soon after..hard to believe another school yr is almost over
Hubby and I are going out of town this weekend...relay for life is next weekend...and i think we are going to make it to the beach in late june or early july. Looking forward to that. I havent been to the beach (in summer) since 08 right before i had my biopsy and dx.

I packed anti-diarrhea medication if we need it. I didn't pack condoms though, so the cabana boys are out of luck. Come to think of it, so is my husband most days now....lol. Just kidding...I am a (mostly) happily married woman. I'll just look.
On Friday evening, the sponsors of the cruise are supposed to discuss next year's 5th annual cruise. If I can, I'd like to reserve a suite ahead of time. I don't mind putting down a deposit on it, but I don't know if they let you do that if you don't have the names of everybody who will be in the room.

I've been a grouch today at my husband. I'm nervous and he keeps talking to me about flying and how I shouldn't put so much in my carry on.....and actually I don't even NEED a carry on and I'm at my poundage on my suitcase and blah blah blah. So I finally told him to just hush about it cause he was makin me mad. lol
I wish it was Sunday and we were boarding the ship.....cause this flying thing is about to make me have a nervous breakdown........lolol

I am off the England for a good friends 50th today, so Spring have a wonderful birthday, anohter year older, yay!!!! Every year is a blessing.

Spring, glad you had a lovely birthday. How is the lymphadema? What improvment does the binding make? Is it comfortable to wear? Do you know what brings it on? Heavy exercise etc? Sorry to fire so many questions at you, but I am concerned for you, as it is something that can affect us all at any time.
I am assuming that our little group will be quieter with our excited girls on the cruise now. I hope they find time to log in and let us know how fantastic is was to meet up.
Is there anyone out there, that used to be active on this board, but now only reads? Please let me know how you are, as I often wonder how everyone is

Spring- So glad you had a great Birthday-
So many of us are nearing our "anniversaries" - we have the relay for life this weekend- then pre-k graduation, weddings,,doctors appointments....THEN comes the end of June and we get a vacation...Lord help me make it through MAY!! LOL

Chris, Lymphedema. Well - it gets worse, for me, with lots of exercise. When the heart rate goes up, the lymphatic system reacts - this is normal, however, apparently, my left arm pit can't handle the amount that comes and then I get poofy on the side of my chest. Also the skin there is ultra hyper sensitive, from surgery or rads, or BOTH, that it does not like being poofed up.
The binding keeps the lymph fluid from coming out when my heart rate goes up, then, there is just less of it to deal with. It seems fine day to day. My arm is not really effected too much, but I also wear a sleeve prophetically. I sleep with a "swell spot" on the area - this is like a pad that is supposed to encourage drainage of the lymph. It is not that comfortable! I am getting used to all this. Apparently air planes and hot tubs can also bring it on, so we're to wear a sleeve to be on the safe side. I'd get one if I was you since you fly so much!
Lisa, yes, my 2 year is coming up July 10th. I am still so glad to be alive and kickin'! Every Bday is sweet, and these anniversaries are too....

Anyone hear from the cruisers? Can't wait to hear how it was.
I am also coming up on my 2 year anniversary....June 10. Just had my annual MRI. Hopefully it's fine. I agree Beverly, glad to have these anniversaries.
I've got a crazy month coming up...3 of my 4 kids graduating. One from grad. school, one from college and one from high school. The best news is that the grad. school grad and the college grad both landed jobs this week. Woohoo!!! Life is good!!!

Relay for Life was Friday night. Had a good time. Started off really hot and cooled off nicely by the end of the evening. I hope lots of money was raised.

HEYYYYY!!! I'm sure I'm the only one that is able to post right now, since Juli is resting I'm sure because she had such a late flight and Jane is at Sunday School and Church. I just got home from my Mom in laws. We stayed there last night....it's halfway home so we didn't have to drive the whole distance.
ANYWAY.....I HADDDDDD A BLASSSSSSST!!! It was so wonderful meeting Jane and Juli. They are the sweetest ladies. Exactly as they are on here. I cried lots of tears throughout the week. There were lots of hugs too. I felt as if I had known them forever. Like they were my family. There were also tons of giggles late at night when we were laying in our beds. Also tons of laughs throughout the week. It was a wonderful experience that I will never ever forget. I got to see things I'm sure I would have never got to see had I not taken the trip. And we met other survivors as well. We made several friends while we were onboard the ship.
Just thought I would give you a little update and check in with the rest of you so you would know we had gotten home ok. I heard from Jane, but haven't heard from Juli yet.

Genia, thanks for the Cruise low down!!! It sounds like a transformational trip. I can just imagine you all giggling in your beds at night. Wish we were all there!! But glad you had a wonderful time... And the Air Port and plane flights were okay for you, yes??

Happy Belated Mother's Day!
I didn't get home till 2:30 am, bed by 4 am, slept in till 10:30 am, went to the park for a Mother's Day picnic, then typed the rest of the day. My boss is making up for my week off, so I don't know when I will get to putting pics on FB, but I changed my profile pic to one taken on "elegant dinner dining" night.
All I can say is what a fabulous time I had with Jane & Genia!!! They are amazing and I miss them already! We called ourselves "The 3 Breast- cateers"!
Next year's cruise is to the Eastern Caribbean from May 14th to May 21st. Start saving now!
