Sierra, very interesting sites, the duck one has all the information you could need about each species. And the other site is really interesting. I loved what he said about laughter being the glue that helps us keep our sanity. Isn't that the truth. LOL
I too love the old rustic barns. Love the picture, it looks to peaceful. I never got to slide down a bannister but it looked like fun.
This has been an extrememly busy day for me starting with son off to airport at 5 am something and me off to mammagram at 6:30, then to in-laws, then to aunts, and DH took me out to eat at my fav. mexican resturant. Busy, good, fun, useful, happy day. Everyone have a wonderful day.

Greetings All On The Mountain.
Soft gentle winds brushing our cheeks as we wander up the trails looking for lupine.
It's a glorious sunny warm gentle breezy day here in the land of northern CA.
I started "The Shack"
Don't want to put it down.
I'll let you know.
I bought a card today.
For my dearest friend who lives in a tree house in Marin.
Her garden is like foliage heaven.
It begets everyone who enters * reflections.
I can't wait to send it to her and smile the happy it allows me to send her
little remembrances of a wonderful friendship even tho' we see one another as often
as possible.
Cards are little mailing post~its of affirmation and a warm "I'm thinking of You" to the recipient.
Back to "The Shack"
Just wanted to stop in and say Hello.
Now back out on the deck with my Izze clementine and open the pages.
Peace.
Sahalie

You know it is really funny, I bought a card for a friend to put in the mail tomorrow. I love getting cards, people don't do it often anymore with internet and cell phones so a card is special. We also have a woman that just moved to Pauls Valley and started at our church and she had moved from a tree house. I found that so fascinating. Just can't imagine how it all works with water and bathroom. also finished the shack last week and it is a fantastic read that will leave you wondering a whole lot about what if and is is possible's. Enjoy. hugs and peace to you.

Uh Oh SPAR. Picture side wangled. Can you repost it? I bet it's a beauty.
You know. . . .about cards. I stopped sending E-cards along time ago.
Sending a card for what ever reason is so much more fun.
Even the old cards our parents got for like 10 cents a hundred years ago are now coming back.
Only now * $3.99 and up.
We could make these. Better take this over to the crafts thread.

Hi all
speaking of succulents..this is taller than I
0 -
That is one angry and LARGE scary cactus.
Too bad it's not in color. I prefer the more softer gentler type.
Here are more gentle softer succulents found in the mountains.

I have never seen anything like the ones you are posting Lisa, are they in California?
That could be me and you sitting there visiting and I want bacon, eggs, and fried potatoes, please and thank you. with sun tea with sugar. Oh I am so bad. I can see my arteries filling up as we speak.
I just finished a necklace that is very special to me because the center black stone is one of the rocks me and my older grandson polished in his polishing kit which takes 2 weeks and then glued the top thing on it and tonight I made the perfect chain to put on it. Taking it to the craft thread.
Sahalie talking about those cards. I have some of those little flower crocheted that my mom did years ago and some really old from the 50's and 60's clip on earrings and pins and stuff like that, that my mom gives me. I'll have to take a picture of some of them to show you. hugs nite nite

Goodmorning mountain, It is a cool, cloudy, rainy day here but am going out to lunch with friends so it will be a good day. I wouldn't mind having one of those starfish plants but don't know if they would grow here.
I love the rain and especially foggy morning if I can stay in until it lifts, its like walking through a very find mist and so eery.
this one cracks me up
Hey, there goes my friend, Sahalie walking in the rain

Hey, Sahalie and Sierra, wanna dance in the rain?

SPAR. The pictures are wonderful. You always find the best ones.
That is ME walking in the rain. One funny story. Last fall while on our little island out in
the middle of the south pacific it was a scorching humid day as usual which for some
reason doesn't bother me too much while there but that day we were hiking and I was
a puddle of sweat.
I decided to get back to our bungalow and jump into the translucent waters of magic.
So.
On the way back as I'm panting and dripping with sweat from the long hike and humidity
Over come a few clouds and swoosh down comes a massive down pour from the heavens
above.
I'm talking hard and heavy. I loved it. Put my hot face toward the sky as I walked
back to the bungalow and let that cool huge rain of comforting drops fall all over me.
As I walked out to our bungalow my shirt and shorts were drenched.
The people under cover smiled at me as I skipped merrily out to the bungalow sending
me there with their smiles.
Ripped off the clothes, put on the swim suit with the speed of light and jumped into
the south pacific.
The rain lasted all of 10 minutes maybe. What a day. Loved every minute.
That was the only day we had rain. We always go in the fall during the low season
and always luck out with great weather.
The trade winds at night can get pretty fierce but they lull us to sleep.
I want to be there right now.
So that picture of the woman in the rain * That's me waving. Yep.

SIERRA.
Yes. Strawberry. A nice little shopping center right off the 101 in Marin.
The only place we went to there was a steak house restaurant that was really good.
I don't know the bar you mentioned.
I love Tiburon and we go as much as possible to our favorite little restaurant "Sam's" out at
the end of Tiburon right on the water at the yacht club.
We sit on the deck where the sea gulls fly over head and land with great determination
on tables and forcefully take their choice of delish food off anyone's plate.
Nasty birds but what can you do. It's their flight zone.
We love the fresh crab sandwiches on SF fresh baked breads and bloody mary's with
huge stalks of celery in each glass.
Have you been there?
Sam's at Tiburon.
Sally. Risque Sally Stanford. Oh yeah. The great stories of Sally.
One of the stories is she had little a black book of all the high muckie mucks from
San Francisco that visited her and her devine ladies.
She made a fortune due to the names in that little black book
I went one time to her little restaurant Valhalla in Sausalito.
I don't know if it's still there. I don't think so.
Everything was ala carte' and a baked potato was like 10.00
There is another story of another madam named Juanita who was her nemesis.
Juanita had a restaurant on a house boat in Sausalito for a while till she was closed down.
Then she moved up north here over by Kenwood and opened a prime rib restaurant in an
old chicken coop.
The place was extremely popular.
Juanita would stop by everyones table to chat and put her enormous gigantic breasts
around the mans head.
Chickens and roosters were free to roam the place so needless to say she was shut down.
Much to the disappointment of all the men who brought their wives out to dinner.
Tiburon is where we take our bikes and picnic basket on the ferry over to Angel Island.
Did you ever go to the Buckeye that sits up on the side of the hill on the way to the Waldo tunnel?
It's been refurbished and is our favorite of all. I've seen that place all my life when
driving into the City.
Then one day we stopped. Been going there for very special occasions ever since.
I'd love to hear more memories you have of place.
I bought my most favorite polar fleece pull over at a little shop in Tiburon.
Played soccer there too. One of the fields is right next to the Bay.
Sorry to say I don't know about the Acres of Orchids place.
PEACE & XOXO
Sahalie

Friends are more important than money!

Ah. The Buena Vista. It is still going strong. Wild and wooly on St. Patrick's Day.
Wouldn't it be fun to have a thread on the Beyond Cancer area about fun places and times of
the past. present and memories.
Food for thought.
I love the City. And all the hills the City allows us to climb.
Happy Evening on the Mountain : )

Tuckermans Ravine in April, just heard on the news, rescuers just saved a hiker lost for 4 days on this mountain.

Deb, wow, thank goodness he was found, it looks so barren it would be scary to be lost there.
Sahalie and Sierra, I loved reading about all the places you have been and things you have done. All conversation is always welcome here. Very interesting. You make me want to travel the whole World.
Have never had a fresh crab sandwhich, just crab legs. Does it have the same taste. I love crab legs dipped in melted butter. Not that crazy about the little softshell crabs that they serve whole, too hard to get any meat out of them.
Sahalie, for some reason i picture you walking and skipping in the rain all the time. Soon as I saw that picture you popped up in my mind.
Peace on the mountain.

Well. We have to get you out here Spar.
Sierra can meet us as she would
love going to visit all her favorite places.
Celia has to come cuz she knows Berkeley inside and out and has wonderful stories
of that wonderful hamlet.
Jazz has to come. Anyone and everyone.
We'll storm Sam's deck on the yacht bay
and you won't believe the fresh taste of those fresh crab sandwiches.
They taste out of this world. Seasonal so fresh daily.

wouldn't that be fun, what a wonderful dream, I wonder if we could make it a reality someday.
Those I have seen on boat trips walking on rock ledges that you would swear nothing could stand on. I think they are beautiful in a rugged way.
kind of like these. they are amazing.
This year at Christmas all of my kids and grandkids wants us all to go skiing. I have never been so will be on the baby slopes. It looks like fun but am kind of scared. Does anyone here snow ski?
I may pose for a picture like this then sit around the fire drinking hot chocolate. LOL
