Hope you all had a good day.

    April,

Really great info from the Yale clinic! I think for many that 2 pronged approach works quite well!

As far as smoking in the last couple days while facing all of this stress... perfectly normal... Your take away should be that you see now where your weak point was and put into place now (while you're not in the moment) what you will do differently when you face this same type of situation again...

This quitting thing is a constantly evolving process... And every step of the way you learn something new.. And each new thing you learn about you and smoking and quitting puts you one step closer to putting it all behind you!!

Really cool on the Rads Trial... Will need to do some reading!!

Thinking of you tomorrow Shawntez. How long will you have chemo?

April, Sounds like a good program at Yale. I too found my "binky" (ecig) was very helpful for me. I needed to "smoke" in the early weeks and it was better than a cigarette. Honestly, just quit using it eventually. Haven't in many months.

To everyone I missed, wishing you the best!!

Morning Ladies! Getting myself ready for first chemo. Don't know how long it will take. I should be on chemo for the next 7-8 months. Check in later if I can.

Hope you all who are battling the cigarette demon have a better day today than you did yesterday.

Love, hugs and kisses...Spring is coming, temperature is going up to the 50's this week here in NYSmile.

Good morning ladies. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. I slept all day yesterday, and I just got up and am still sleepy.

Even with Emend, there is still a lingering hint of nausea looming at the base of my throat. It only took 3 hours to get meds and chemo in me. I am in a fog and smoking is the last thing on my mind, smoked last just before going to hospital. My bedroom stinks of cigar. My sense of smell is heightened, I smell everything, but differently than before.

Have a great smoke free day. Love, hugs and kisses

(((Shawntez))) Here is to hoping that the nausea leaves you soon and that you still hate the smell of the cigars! Wink

I had a cig this morning cause I am nervous about this big needle they are going to put the gold seeds in my lumpectomy cavity with this morning. Getting ready to leave in a while for the "seeding" appt.

Argh...so bad that I still had to smoke and use it as a crutch. I hope that when I start the wellburtrin and with the vaping, I can stop the madness!

Have to wait until I pick up the script to start the meds. Also, want to talk to my PCP first and make sure that wellbutrin goes with my other meds. I have no idea!

Have a great smoke free day ladies. Hugs!

I found a way to quit smoking-- chemo. The meds just supress the action not so much the feeling of nausea. I feel like crap, weak and tired. The thought of smoking makes me feel sick to my stomach. Miss you all, going back to bed.

    Hugs and kisses

Thanks Karen, Judi, Beckers, Lisa's, Chris. Please forgive me for leaving out names, I tried.

I have been getting lots of sleep. Haven't smoked since Wednesday and the thought of smoking makes me feel sick. I would not recommend this as a tool to quit smoking, but anyone who could smoke while on chemo must have a teflon stomach.

Love you all, check in later, going back to sleep for a while.

Shawntez--What a sucky way to become smoke-free. I was the opposite. I had quit 3 months prior to my original diagnosis (1987) and relapsed while going through chemo--I would be throwing up (no anti-nausea drugs back then) and have a cigarette going in the ashtray--all the while beating myself up--thinking just how stupid can I be!!

But you are strong and you will get through this and be even stronger than before. It's like when a bone breaks--it's weak at first and needs protection but as it heals, it's stronger where the break was than it was before. Sending warm wishes to you and everyone on this list who are struggling with this horrible disease. VJ

Happy Easter! Just spent two whole days at the smoking capital of the world - the casino! And, yup, I caved and had a few. Still deciding whether to take the wellbutrin. The side effects of that stuff are scarier than cancer! YIKES. I know that I may not get any..oh well. I did run out of juice for my etank at the casino (forgot the refills) and that is what caused the relapse.

    On a happy note, I won lots of $$!!! 900 big ones..yahooo!

(((((Shawntez)))) Sorry sweetie. I pray that you feel better.

Today, I am back on e-cigs and not smoking. It gets easier when I have smoke free days (or one or two cig days) but at the casino I had waaaay more than 2 so today is HARD again. Ugh...working on this. After 40+ years with cigs, this is not gonna be a one day deal I guess. Really working on it though. VJ, your book helps..really!

Congrats April485 on your big win .... I only win a few quarters when I go.  As far as your smoking goes .... very hard place to be when you are on the smoking wagon but really you are back on track.  I think most of us would have done the same .... I know when I go somewhere and the smoke is thick, I crave for one.  Really, sometimes I just crave!  Don't beat yourself up!  Hope you enjoyed them anyways!
