MB- By the time you read this, you will likely be past day 5 and onto 6. Keep plugging Baby- just crossing that 3 day mark is HUGE! I think of myself where you are and the first feeling I get is nervous about the sheer difficulty of this early period. I feel for you but want to encourage you to keep going in any way I can! You can do this! We all can! Just as we have gotten through this bc diagnosis thusfar. OK, so we had no choice but to get through it. But I am convinced the same is true for butts. We have/had cancer for God sakes...there is no choice there either. Wierd though that when free will enters the picture the battle becomes that much more difficult. When people tell me how strong I am to get through all this cancer business, I find it rather odd because I did only what I had to do! We need to remember that giving up smokes is truly what will make us as brave as everyone thinks! You are a true warrior now and I am going to do everything in my power to follow your example! Just congratulations for the strength you have had to get you this far. I pray I can follow your example.

I know HALT very well!  It has worked in the past and it can again. Come Monday, I may read this entry all day long!

    Happy Saturday everyone!

Morning! Another terrible night sleeping with the flashes. Maybe it's the Chantix or maybe it's because I can't open the window and let it snow on my face, lol. Thanks for all these good post as I am getting ready to get my mindset ready for the battle.

Cleo, come join us with a quit date, meanwhile I guess you are going to ration out those cigs. I know it's hard and I feel for you! Keep posting your thoughts, you will find your way.

MB, I know that HALT too and it does help. 6 days is awesome, now let's make it to 7. Keep posting, it will help with reaching out with your feelings. Whatever happens in your day and the victories you have is also great for us too. We are right behind you!

REKoz, love what you wrote! I have often thought about free will since quitting my last time, it was a humbling moment in my life. We need to think positive and give extra support because it does take courage to let go something you depend on. We will do it together!

Have to run, will reach out to the rest of you later, but you are in my thoughts.

Hi Ladies, started hiking this morning to get in shape for quitting and getting back into the active life style. Feeling pretty good, going to work on BCBF today and do some painting. Will post some logos today and start on the site this week. I am also going to open up a DBA and put some money into the account to get it going, such as money for t-shirts, etc. Thing is, I am not into pink shirts so we should have a variety of colors. What other colors you like?

    Best,
    Janet

We scanned all the paperwork from the Tobacco Cessation class onto a disk and I will mail it out as soon as I can get to post office :)

Hi Ladies, I have drawn some rough sketches of logos, very rough! Let me know which one you like and then I start drawing variations of it, and then last I take it into Illustrator and refine it. Keep in mind that we are starting with one color only just to make sure it will print okay on a t-shirt no matter our budget. So another wards, if it looks good in black and white, wait till we add colors. If none are the right fit, just give me an idea and I can keep going.

    Little explanation.

    1. More vague with the BCBF, flows and smoky
    2. 3 dimensional with the crossing out the cig and the smoke will resemble women
    3.  Similar to number #2 but the BCBF is intertwined as we work through the quit smoking process and BC
    4. I don't know
    5. variation
    6. Modern font with smoky women
    7. more simple

    rough 1

    rough 2

I wonder how many really likes pink, maybe order just a few and we will find out.

Thanks for the disk o2bhealthy, will start on it this week.

Next I will draw the laydown logo to be used for any charities. Except ours may say over the lay down logo, "Lay down for boobies," etc.

    Have a smokers cough, Ughhhh!

    Hugs,
    Janet

Hello ladies, MIchelle and I had a chance to escape our house for a few hours for our weekly Sunday Worship services.  I think she overdid it a wee bit as she was showing a little swelling under her arm pits, with obvious discomfort.  She is napping now.

I wish all the ladies here luck in quitting smoking.  Michelle has shown awesome strength and even though I know deep inside she wants to smoke, she has not shown it outwardly.

for the next three days we are meeting with her breast and plastic surgeon for followups and her Oncologist for treatment planning.  I am optomistic that her surgeons will indicate very positive results so far.  Pain management is my main concern at this point so she does not need to deal with discomfort.

Pantufus and Family - we are praying for a quick and healthy recovery.

Everybody else, may your day be blessed and know we are thinking about you.

Well, I just lost another friend to cancer.  This SUCKS.  He was diagnosed with lung cancer in December and passed away last night.  I am praying that God will bless his soul and that this will finally give me the strength to quit.  So ladies are you with me?  Who else is up for the 5th?  I am buying enough packs today (they go up in price another dollar on Wednesday...state tax) to get me through the 4th of July and when they are gone, they are gone.  LET'S DO THIS, LET'S STOP THE INSANITY!!!

Fifish, I am so sorry to hear about your friend. I wish I could be there to give you a big hug. I will try even harder to be strong for you on the 5th. Together we will do it!  And we will help others to quit too. I think Jules is with us too. We should write down our journey for our website profile to help inspire others to quit as we will not be the only ones who struggled for months. Cancer is serious and I hope the ladies who have given up will come back and try again. I am sending you much love and positive thoughts for courage to put this beast behind us and to heal your heart. I am here for you!

Ladies, I will try to get this site up more quickly to help aid us. Funny how you all pick a different logo and that always happens. Couple more votes and I will move forward.

    Time for cyber hugs!

Thanks for the cyber hug Janzin.  I feel so confused.  We all knew this was coming, his cancer had spread from his lungs to his liver to his bones and to his brain....all within 2 months.  He and his family are all back up in Vermont (they would spend summers down here in Naples) so I can't even be with them.  Thanks for the support.  I don't know what to do with myself today, so I have decided to clean.  Isn't that odd?  My friend dies and I feel the urge to clean the house.

I will be posting hourly starting on the 5th when we quit for the support.  Ok Jules and Janzin...we can do this.

Much love, and thanks for the support.

    Good Morning everyone...

Flfish, very sorry to hear about your friend! Sending you hugs!

    I like #2 and #5 =) Janz

O2B, take care of yourself!!!!  Very proud of you!

Well...the date went really well...just not so sure about everything.  Then I definately went back to the ex last night...another comfort "crutch" whenever I'm nervous or scared.

So, now I'm really a wreck! Ha!  Men, Doctors appt tomorrow, '7-8-9'..sheesh!

Oh well...one day at a time right now =)

    Much Love To All!

Ellie ((hugs)). So sorry you have lost a friend :( Cleaning does not sound odd at all. I clean as a nesting kind of thing and sometimes it helps with my feelings.

Janet I want to thank you for all your work on BCBF. I like #2 now that I have given them a second look.

I am missing my regular smokes. These little cigars are nasty, and they must not put as many addictive chemicals in them, since I am having that familiar irritability like withdrawal. Wed I can get my regular brand. I would like to join you on July 5th. I too would like to ck in every hour (or whenever I think I can't fight the crave).

Yippee!  We have another joiner for the 5th....the great American Breast Cancer Butt Fondler Smoke Out...heehee....So cleomoon, you like #2 too?  I like the lady in it, it looks cool.

Janzin, which one do you like?

Butterfly, hang in there.  Let us know how the appointment at the doc goes tomorrow.  Be careful running back to the ex for comfort, that can be a hard habit to break.

Thanks again ladies for all the support.  My mood is beginning to lift....and it helps that the house it now so clean!!

Oh Ellie- I am so sorry to hear about your friend. I totally get the emotions behind your first post and "stopping the insanity!" I'm right there with you my friend as I stare at my Dad's oxygen tanks and wonder what his chest looks like inside with just one lung. You may or may not recall that he had surgery 7 weeks ago today. Look back on my posts and see how frustrated I was with myself because the evidence to quit has been so right in my face!!  May your friend rest in peace.

Sooooooooooooooo....I have been up over 3 1/2 hours and have not had a smoke! Remember....today is my quit day? I'll be damned if I am not going to give this all I have at this point. A month from tomorrow is my surgery but ONLY if I do this...and I WILL.  And I feel better knowing that next week, I will have a few of you on board with me! YAY...can't wait!

Ellie, I like your idea of posting every hour in the beginning.  I am at work so we'll see how often I can get on here. It's slow in the summer so I should have the time.  I WILL post whenever I think I might cave and ask a friend for a butt!
    Best to all-

    Ellen

Fifish, staying busy is a great way until the mind can catch up with your heart. I still process things a little at a time as sometimes all of it is too large for me. Hourly sounds perfect, you are so smart! I like 1, 2, and 7.

Butterfly, I won't tell you my wreck stories, I bet I have you beat!!! One day at a time for sure.

Cleo, thanks for you input. I hope you will join us on the 5th. Strength in numbers???

REKOz, so proud of you!!!!!!! I know the stopping of insanity too well. My mom also has lung cancer and she still smokes. Sad that she feels she doesn't have much to live for and does not want to give them up. Think NEW BOOBS!!! You can do it!! Check in soon.

Will with everyone on #2, think I will start developing that one more.

    To quitting!!!!!

Way to go REKoz!  You can do this!  I wish I could start today, but I know that I have 3-4 packs left in the refrigerator so that would drive me crazy.  I just called my dh and told him NO MORE.  Now I am getting pumped up to quit!

Wow, Ellen and Janet both have parents with lung cancer, that is rough.  How are they doing with the treatments?  I lost my dear mother to breast cancer.  We need to use these experiences to help us quit for good.

    Love you guys!

I'mmm bacccck!  12:15pm EDT and STILL no smoke. Thought I'd pop in and say the mentally ignorant part of me along with the physically addicted part of me would very much want one at this moment. So, I shall close my eyes and take deep breaths until the moment passes.

Ellie, my Dad is having no further follow up treatment. They took out his right lung entirely and at 81, he is not a candidate for chemo. They did get it all in surgery which is good. By the time he could get it again, there's a strong possiblity something else may take him.  Poor him, and my poor Mom. It's so hard and no one lives close enough to pop in daily. I am about an hour away without traffic on the Long Island Expressway (that's an oxymoron!!).

OK urge gone for now....back to work!

    Love you gals!

REKoz, so sorry to hear about your dad, sounds pretty scary. We will all have to offer prayers or positvie thoughts. But you are doing great. Did you write donw 5 things to do instead of smoke? That helped me quit a bit. And your working too, let us know if you bitch slap someone, lol.

Jules, awesome that DH is going to quit with you!!!

Fifish, my mother told me it hasn't spread. I don't think she is being honest with me.

    Hang in there!!!
