Ok, so write down 5 things to do instead of smoking....let's see.....

    1.--Sugar free lollipops

    2.  Go for a walk (even if it is 100 yards, it will help keep the weight off if I do it 20 times a day :) )

    3.  Kiss my husband...it can't hurt, right?

    4.  Pet and play with my dogs....they are always there and ready for attention

    5.  ....................any suggestions??????????

    Ellie

PS--you go REKoz, I can't wait to join you...pumping myself up every day

Hi Ladies, 5 more days left of smoking. Got more Chantix and the dreams are starting to mellow out. Took an Ativan last night which helps me sleep better so I will definitely put those into use for the quit day. Here are my thinks to do instead of smoke.

    1. Drink water
    2. Chew gum
    3. Hiking or walking
    4. Watch TV
    5. Play computer games
    6. Paint
    7. Cook something with lot's of chopping.
    8. Blow bubbles?
    9. Post here
    10. Meditate

REKoz, hope you made your first day. If not, let's try again today. You can always start all over every hour! Let us know how you are doing. Don't give up!!!!

Jules, write down things to do instead of smoke. It's you bag of tools.

FIfish, chopped yourself up some really nice salsa, keeps you busy and it's not fattening. That helped me one day. I would say gardening but you probably had enough of your yard, lol.

    Good luck all,
    Janet

FlFish...#5...get on here and post =)

    REKoz...How's day #2 going?

O2B...how are you feeling chica =)

Well ladies..today I go to see the specialist.  One thing I haven't shared is that the original lump, it's still there.  It's no longer painful like it was in the beginning, either that or I have gotten used to it, but now there is another one, a little lower, actually in the right breast, this one, just like the first, very painful.  I just noticed it about 3 days ago.  This one, it doesn't move around, but it hurts a lot when I do touch it.  None of my family or friends know of this, because I am tired of no one believing me, especially since the doctors aren't even taking me seriously.  But, today the specialist I am seeing is a female breast cancer specialist, AND a chest specialist.  So, while I am excited to be seeing someone who may hopefully have some answers, I am scared at the same time to get another run around, while I know something is going on inside my body.  And, to be honest ladies, I am not handling it very well...ei LOTS of alcohol, and the whole running back to the ex thing...BUT please, if you know how to handle this, let me know...because I am at a loss for ideas.  Thank you.

    Much Love To All!!!

Thank you...great ideas...post here, cook something (I love to cook anyway), drink water, play texas hold'em on line....that is good stuff.

Butterfly, I understand you fears, but try to stay focused until you see the specialist.  There is no right way to handle these fears, we all just do the best we can.  Please know that we are hear to listen and support you.  I hope the specialist can give you some answers.  Not knowing is the worst.  Be sure to post when you get back from the specialist.

Ok ladies...off to the specialist.  It's been a really shitty day (excuse the language) at work, so I don't know if I will even be coming back to work, but if my computer at home decides NOT to have an attitude problem I will post how the appointment goes tonight.  If not I will let you know first thing tomorrow....IF I even decide to come to work tomorrow....yea it's been one of THOSE days!

Butterfly, hang in there, it will get better.  Hope it will not be cancer!

Alright ladies, I joined a few game request and now I am addicted. It will definitely be one of my tools for quit smoking. You all gotta try it, especially the pirate game. I have sent you invites. 2 more people and I get an awesome island!!! Mafia is fun along with the Vampire game too, I play all 3 at the same time and also work.Try it, you might like it and it may keep your mind off of smokes.

CANCER FREE!!!!!!  The doc found a 3rd lump, but none of them are cancerous, she said the first one actually is from an old fracture, where a piece of bone splintered off, the second lump that I felt was just a normal part of my younger denser tissue, and the third one that she found today (which by the way sent me over the edge bawling in the office) also was just some more denser tissue.  She immediately took me into the back of her building where we did an ultrasound, and she patiently showed me everything about my boobs...from the inside out...literally.  She also explained that with my family history it is very important that I continue to go SOMEWHERE for regular check-up's, which I can tell you now, I will be going to her.

I can say I am overwhelmed with emotion right now.  Relief, beyond words.  I hope it is ok with everyone of you that I continue to stay with this site, particularily this thread, but if not, I fully respect all of your wishes.  And I love all of you, and thank you SOOOOO much for your support!!!!!!!!

    Much Love To All!

Hi Everybody!  5:00pm EDT Day 2!   AAWWKKK!

So far I have not had a cigarette. Good resolve but MAN OH MAN getting through that nic fit is hard as hell!!  It's like labor (for those of you that know) where you feel it coming on and just SWEAT IT OUT till it goes away.  Had an event at work today so had to go to bed early last night (which was great anyway to avoid lengthening the dt's!) and got home from work early.  It's hard...really hard but I'm fighting through it. Gonna take the dog for a walk. I find that a great way to detox!

Thanks for all your support. Keep it up, it's only the beginning and this can get OLD fast!

    Love ya all-

Wow, I missed a lot in a week.

O2Heathy- so glad your doing better.

Ellen Way to go .   Get to bed and sleep away the urges.

    janzin-  I like #2 too

Count me in for quitting on the 5th, I started back on the Chantix and also got the nictrol( which is not good) but my regular Dr wanted me to us it without anything in the holder.

I think I will just buy lollipops and regular gum.  I am back to lots of fruits especially blueberrys, and strawsberrry's the say it detoxs your system quicker along with lots of water. Couldn't have my appt with the PS on Mon- had to give more blood since chemo was only last week.  So I will find out tomorrow when and what type of surgery they can do to fix my leaky TE.

but mentally I am clearing my body out for the 5th. I llove what someone wrote about our bravery and will and you are so right.  Ladies we are getting thru the worst in our lives. Smoking is not bigger than us we, are just giving it too much power.

To All the Butt Fondlers Ladies Stop the Insanity-  Keep breathing and quit smoking for once and all.

I'll keep checking in on the 5th too and searching for positive thoughts to get us thru this. Thanks Ladies

    p.s What is Halt?

Ellen--way to go!!!!!  You are doing awesome.

Butterfly--that is great news.  I am glad you finally found a doc that took the time to show you and explain what is going on.  Like Janzin said, you should still try and quit even though it is not cancer, with your family history it is still a good idea to call it quits.

I have 3 packs left.  I might leach off my hubby to get through the 4th, but I am all set for the 5th to quit!!  Let's do this.  You are right Mallme, we ARE strong.....wow, if we can get through CANCER we can get through this, right?  Can I get an AMEN?!...heehee....just trying to pump everyone up

    Morning Ladies-

7:53am EDT...Day 3...Whoa..When I've quit in the past, I've always found the 3's the hardest. 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months etc. But, I've gotten through 2 so why not 3? I've definitely had some "O crap, just one" moments, especially on the phone! Had a long chat with my sister last night and found myself walking around in circles just looking for that smoke. Just keep reminding myself that I won't always feel this way. I am soooo looking forward to those of you who will be joining me in this torture next week. Misery loves company!

Well, off to work. Thank you all SO VERY much for your continued support. Will check in later.

Mallme- HALT stands for Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired...those moods that most want to lead you to cling to bad habits!  Theory is when you KNOW you are experiencing any of these, be CAREFUL! Don't seek solace in the unhealthy things for your body. Easier said then done right?

Hi Ladies, we are really moving forward!!! I love that saying, " Stop the insanity." Think I will add it to the website.

REKoz, your are doing awesome. I know how hard it is but the urges will come less frequent and then one day you won't even think about it. So work towards that free day!!

Malleme, thanks for your opinion and so happy you are joining us. We have been talking about this for months, time to move forward! You are so right, smoking is NOT bigger than us!

Fifish, AMEN! Make it stretch!!! Haven't been drinking because I know it will make me weak with my quitting of smokes. Good thing is that energy is getting better and I can't wait to not huff and puff so much on a hike. We should post low cal snacks for our quitting days to keep us busy and healthy munchies. I know you must know some good recipes.

Butterfly, glad you are still kicking butt! Post Post Post!

Cleo, would love to see your happy dance, lol.

Well back to work! Best to all and post incentives, tips, tricks because we are getting close and it will help out REKoz.

    Hugs,

Janz...ahhh the no drinking...CRAP...we need a new thread! hahaha...no I think that will be a major part of all of our success.  I know for me, anyway, as soon as I get that alcohol in me,  I definately have a cigarette so, that's a good point.  I know I like Suduko (sp?) puzzles, so I guess I will go buy another book of those.

Just to let everyone know, I have kicked a major addiction to a very serious drug, well two actually, and the way I did it was not only re-habs, but I literally had to change my thought process.  Even to this day, when I think of using instead of the old thought process (which would always lead me to getting high) I have a new one...it's called "playing out the whole tape" in the rooms, but anyway, for me, I allow myself to remember the good times, the fun times, but then I play the tape all the way and  remember all the gritty horrible things.  And when I say horrible, I literally mean living hell, BUT...anyway, still, to this day, and very recently, even that "tape" wasn't enough, and all I could do was ball-up on my bed and literally just HOLD ON.

So...where am I going with this?  Well, I think we should all come up with our own tape...that way we can play the tape out on here for each other.  Oh...and real quick, before I get too many responses, yes I still drink, and I know I take my prescription pills, I also attend AA and NA and my groups know of my drinking and my pills...they tell me, keep coming back.  For now, I am not doing what I used to be doing which, like I said I can only describe as living hell at 16...

Ok....so here's to part of the ending of my "butt-tape" hahahaha

*being out of smokes, stuck in traffic, just off work, and two cars in front of me someone is holding their cig out the window...taunting me!
*catching my eyelashes on fire trying to light a smoke off of a gas stove (mascarra is highly flamable...and we all know how much 14 year olds wear!...go ahead and laugh...because it is pretty funny now)
*counting out change and getting a pack of smokes instead of food

Cleo...I second Janz and I say you post the happy dance! lol!

    REKoz...U CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Much Love To All

Butterfly, will hit you up tomorrow on the tape.

Jules, best price for Chantix is Costco for I think $114.

Also heard there are free patches when you call 1-800-QUITNOW

Let's get some yummy quit smoking receipes up!

Yippee, I am so excited that we are all on board for this!  Jules, I got my Chantix (last year) at Wal-mart and it cost $120....fyi.  Unfortunately, I can not take that drug, which stinks.  My oncologist said that Chantix helps with the side effects of Tamox....who knew?  I wish it had worked for me.  AND, the patches gave me a headache.  I wish I could share the hundreds of dollars of "aides" that I bought that didn't work for me, they are all in my bathroom vanity.  So, I am doing cold turkey....nothing else.

I must be excited about quitting because I had a dream last night that I was buying nicotine gum....my sub-conscience is prepping me.........(of course I also dreamed that I was ice skating on thin ice with my ex boyfriend....wtf???....but that is a whole OTHER story....lol).......

Off for my walk, more later.  Have a great morning ladies!

Hi ladies, thought I post before my hike. So happy to see so many on board, we will give each other strength.

    Here is my tape.
*Rushing out of the airport to smoke between flights
    *Yellow teeth
*Start to fidget around people and lose concentration on conversation because I want to smoke
    *Wake up coughing
    *Digging for butts

Jules, you can cold turkey it!!!! Join my pirate game, it will keep you occupied.

FIfish, we could make an artwork of you quit smoking aids, lol. Glad you are walking, getting is shape for quitting would be helpful.

REKoz, you are still doing well???? Have to check in and let us know how you are doing. Stay strong for yourself and everyone, including your 2 new boobs.

    Hi Ladies.

I am still hanging in there, but am thinking about stopping the chantix- I have been on it for 3+weeks and am having the weirdest side effects.....laryngitis for these last 2 weeks and incredible back aches and pains-particulary at night.  Not having any weird dreams, but only dozing for 1-2 hours then waking up with intense backaches/charlie horses.....think i might drop to one pill a day then wean off......what really sucks is I can't even call their support hotline because I can't talk.  Am trying to avoid a doctors visit for it, but it has been over 2 weeks....resting the voice isn't happening-husband and sons aren't cooperating.

    xxoo to each of you

Congrats Candie on your 76 days, that is so awesome. You just keep plugging away. The urges will pass, keep on doing the great work. Thanks for your input!

MB, I think Chantix was making me ache too but walking and stretching help took care of that. Not sure about the voice though. I have a new friend who has had laryngitis for over a month now, maybe you two have some kind of bug. Please let us know how it goes!!

    Hugs to all,
    Janet
