Bosum, don't despair. The shortness of breath will go away. I found after my cancer surgery I was so out of breath. Then after I went on Letrozole I still had it. It took a good while for me not to notice it. Just yesterday I did outdoor boot camp and I was able to keep up. Mind you, I said to the instructor "that if I see my 60th birthday, it will be amazing". Her answer, "I'll look amazing". I was very happy. I found that starting to exercise really decreased any of the side effects of letrozole. Start small and you will see how improved you will be MT, COPD? My biggest fear. God we have all been through so much that enough is enough!

LisaMarie, are you o.k. Haven't heard from you and worried!

Good morning ladies!
Thanks again for all of your lovely wishes for hubby. I appreciate each and every one of them.
And, already he is already doing waaaaaay too much! He has already vacuumed, changed the kitty litter, cleaned the kitchen and if it was not raining like cats and dogs yesterday, I suspect he would have hopped on the tractor and mowed the lawn too! I was furious with him when I got home from work!!
Another great thing is he is eating like a horse! Yesterday, he ate French Toast and Sausage for breakfast (at 6:00am!!) and he had a slice of pizza for lunch with an Ensure Plus (which is 350 calories by itself!) and for dinner, he had a 12oz steak with mushrooms/onions, a huge baked potato dripping with butter and some peas and a salad. Then he had a piece of chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream for a snack at 10PM!! O.M.G.!
Before he went to the hospital, I was begging him to eat a little soup and now...well, let's just say I can't afford to feed him! LOL
Back to work and Bosum, hang in there girl...we all know how you are feeling for sure and the exemestane (Aromasin) causes me to have shortness of breath as well so you are not imagining it.

Judi - oh my word - outdoor boot camp? You are amazing. I went to the pulmonologist before rads since I wanted a base line before any more damage. I sort of ignored her since it's apparently "pre-copd" - WTH!
April - so glad that DH is eating. Now if you could just get him to slow down.
Bosum - too bad we don't live close. We could encourage each other to at least walk (or guilt each other?)
LisaMarie - You're in our thoughts. Hope to hear from you soon. Sending hugs.

April, fabulous news! You are so right, it doesn't rain, it pours. But I'm glad for all that has happened. Maybe you'll have to learn to keep up with dh. Bosum, day 2! I'm so proud of you. We're rooting for you. Don't despair as I think you are going to lick this demon.
MT, I'm really sore today but I'll go back at it tomorrow. It's like jumping back on the horse after you have fallen. No pain, no gain. I bought some new clothes (very comfy) and I love the new size!

Bosum, good luck on your MRI! I agree with you, it can help save a lot of women. Now for the texting conversation, go with your gut instinct. Really, a sex slave. Please be very careful as there are a lot of weirdos out there. And girl, you have so much going for you .... do you need this?

No word from LisaMarie. Hoping we'll hear today.
I'm going North on an overnight today & tomorrow and won't have email access. My BFF's DH died 6 months ago and today would have been their 49th anniversary. And they dated for several years before they got married. A true love match. No way should she spend the day alone. She's picked a restaurant she always wanted to try that he didn't. We're going to watch Wild since my ex-DH gave me the DVD last week when we went to lunch.

Bosum, thank god! I was so worried about you .... I watch a lot of crime shows and my mind is always working. Yes, you are fragile and you need to find "you". When you find that special someone who you would like to spend all your time with, you'll find them. Just remember, who you chose at "20" is not who you would probably choose at "40-50-60". Go slow and enjoy life. MT, what a true friend you are. I'm sure your BFF needs you and is happy that you are going to be there. Tell us how the "Wild" is. Enjoy the restaurant, your movie and most importantly, your friend!

I'm worried about LisaMarie. She doesn't post on any other threads at BCO and her last post was Sunday 5/31. I'm hoping it just a case of not having access to a computer!!!
More about my visit later.

Touche, Bosum! I wholeheartedly agree. MT, I also hope LisaMarie is o.k. I hope she checks in soon!

LisaMarie - hooray, you're doing OK. Of course we believe in you. We were apprehensive about the idiot. You're amazing to be dealing with all of this, and still not smoking. I think you've got it... So glad you have a cousin to bunk with. Sounds like you're handling everything in a very sensible fashion - counseling first, then see how it goes. Hugs.
Bosum - did they say when you'd have MRI results? Waiting is so hard, but we're with you.
April - you probably don't have time to post but I sure hope you are setting aside at least a small portion of every day just for YOU.
Judi - when is your trip to BC for the wedding? (oops - bad initials - I mean British Columbia). I was remembering June or July?
Hey VJ & JB. Beckers & Seaside & other "old timers" - thinking of you.

LisaMarie, I'm so glad you are o.k. I'm also glad you made the decision to get out when you did. Who knows what would have happened but you are a very strong lady. Just remember, a leopard doesn't change it's spots. You can do this but make sure what you do is good for you and nobody else. Very proud of you not going back to smoking or having a drink. You are so smart that you realized that this won't change anything. Koodos to you as you deserve it and so much more. MT, you didn't make an error when you typed in BC. Most Canadians type it this way. Leave June 16th for the wedding which happens on July 4th. Return home on July 7th. MT google Bear Mountain, B.C. and you'll see what a beautiful spot this is. Just flipping hope there are no bears, cougars, any other wildlife on that mountain!

MT, I forgot to ask and remembered when I turned the computer off. How was your night with your BFF? Is she coping o.k.? Hope you both enjoyed your visit with one another - always a great BFF!

Judi - Absolutely gorgeous. Can I hop in your suitcase? Are you a golfer? I kept clicking & got off into the Canadian Rockies, and trail rides, and whitewater rafting, and... One of my dreams is to go back to Banff & Louise. I went w/my family when Canadian Pacific was still running from Vancouver around 1961. Dream trip. I had to laugh when I saw the current temperature is 19 degrees - then I realized that's Celsius, which would be around 70 in the US.

MT, I knew you would love this resort. It is ideal for us .... pampered and everything in one place. Yes, I try to golf but not here as this is a challenging course. When I was out there years ago (when I was still smoking) my dh played and said it was a beautiful course. Can't afford the train trip but would love to do it. Yes, I remember being out there and smoking to my heart's content. My niece had a house on bear mountain. God those were the days!

LisaMarie - fantastic that you're not smoking & drinking. And wonderful that you're still able to go to work. Is the lady you take care of sympathetic? Or not someone you can talk to? Neat that you take her different places. I've never been to an East coast casino, but probably not much different than Vegas? When I had someone taking care of my Mother, I found there's a whole network of friends and one person tells another about your abilities, and so on. My Mother's doctor even started recommending the lady who took care of Mom.
BTW - how's your Mother doing? I've been thinking of her lately.

LisaMarie .... HANG IN THERE! It can only go up from here but it sounds like you are scrambling up the ladder. Koodous to you for not smoking/drinking. Love the gambling .... good that you are working and can take some pleasure in your work!

Minus thanks for asking my mom is doing better .. I often wonder if she is lying as i cannot see her and she is so far away ... but she says she is going to bingo again so I am guessing that's a good sign... well it is Sunday and have a 3 year old birthday party to attend... Hope everyone has a beautiful day ... xoxoxoxo

LisaMarie, fabulous news about your mom! Enjoy the birthday party!

Bosum - did you get the MRI results? Hoping everything was OK.
0 -
LisaMarie - I agree. If you Mom's going to bingo she's doing better.

Bosum - fingers crossed for good results.
Yes, I remember smoking at work. I can't even count the number of cigarettes that burned down in the ashtray as I was dealing w/something else. So of course I'd light another one.
When i was in high school I was a "goody-goody". The first summer I came home from college I was so excited I could go to the movie theater & sit in the balcony & smoke and no one could see me!!!
Just for today I won't romanticize those memories - oh yes, and I won't smoke.

Right with you girls! Bosum, I too worked for the Health Department and smoked in the office. It was even worse, I worked in the office of the Medical Officer of Health. In the 80's we smoked and most of us smokers were in one end. Non-smokers claimed the smoked travelled through the electrical outlets. We all laughed at them. But today, it is a proven fact. Bosum, good luck on your results. MT, I always worried about smoking in the theatre ... the theatre we went to had a sloped floor and always worried if I butted the smoked out right. Worried that some poor woman's purse would catch fire.

The theater was a special place for me since my parents didn't approve of smoking & it was too dark to identify me. I never smoked in front of them but after my Mother's stroke I did smoke outside in their yard. Dad lived to 96. Imagine me smoking behind a bush at age 60+. There's your laugh for the day. Oh the things we do.
0 -
Wow what a fun laugh thanks everyone ...
Bosom I sure hope that your results are good ..Jobs are hard to find these days being a non smoker or not ,,
I sure do remember the days that we could smoke anywhere .. resturants , movies, work , and even school . in HS we had a place called the pit . It was where we had to go to smoke and a teacher would be there and all to watch over us ... wow have the times changed . I am grateful that I am not smoking today
I do remember sneaking minus ... lol we were in my cousins bedroom adn I thought my mom was coming in .. and I thoght I butted it out and threw it behind a radiator and it was smoking .. geeze did I get my butt whooped ...
anyway Have a great day ladies ..
well evening now for me

LisaMarie, loved your post. Reminded me when I first got caught. My older siblings all smoked in the house and I thought I would try it. My older sister always left really long butts so one night I thought "here goes, I'll smoke it in the bathroom and then have a shower". So I hid the butt in my knitted slipper and asked my dad if he had to use the bathroom before I showered. He said he did and used it. I then went in and went to get the smoke and it was gone. I did find it eventually and smoked it. When I came out, my dad asked me if it was worth it. I'll never know how he knew I was going to do this! Only stopped me for a while!
