Laura what size were you expanded to (420 if remember) ?
And what size implant did they put in?
0 -
Hi Judy!
You are correct... I was expanded to 420.. and he put in a 450cc Mentor, HP, round smooth , silicone gel.
The 550'c are defin. closer to the size of the TE I had...
My TE were like... 13x5.7 at final fill... and the 550cc are like 13.6x5.5...
The 450cc made me a full B... but the skin I have needs a good C like I was in expanders. SOOOOO he thinks that going to 550 it will do just this and take care of the ripples..

I posted my "falling boob" on the picture site...0

Hmmm...my PS overexpands by 100cc I am at 540 now, want a 550cc and as I understand it, he won't do it...wants me to go 640 for a 550 implant...GRRRRRRR.... JUDY

Judy... All these doctors of ours choose different things for us. I just think.. each situation is different. We are all unique. Who would guess that on my 29-30 rib size.. that the 450's would make me a large B. and 550 would make me a C. ?? Sandy Sunshine has 550's and she is a D cup..
Don't worry.. but I would talk to your PS. you have the time. Look at the TE size and the implant size.. it might be just fine. My TE were Allegran and implants.. Mentor.. soooooooooooo...
Check the size... 550 might be the same as your 640 TE...
let us know..

OK ladies, as requested by Deborah our breast whisperer, I have posted my pictures on the picture forum. I never would have imagined taking pictures of my breasts let alone posting them on the internet but you lose all modesty once you get breast cancer.
I got my drains out yesterday - what a heavenly day. I could have actually returned to work today as the pain in my sides has subsided quite a bit, but my FMLA was for 2 weeks, so might as well relax and recover while I can.

I know what you mean Denise... Me either.. but I did too!...
I will go check out your boobies.....LOL.... we all sound sooooooo weird on here huh..LOL

I have been doing a great deal of research over the past couple of days regarding breast implants and rippling. One thing I do realize, is that one of the chief culprits is having a capsular space which is larger than the implant within it. That is what I do believe I have....and this is in response to Laura's challenge to me. I am just fighting the notion of going larger, because this size is really just right for me. I could have the capsular space reduced, but this would be more aggressive than just switching out implants. Don't want to go there. I suppose I TRY fat grafting one more time and if it does not work - THEN I consider an exchange to larger implants. So I need to get an outside consultation I believe. Find someone with an unbiased view towards addressing the ripples. Maybe I should fly to Kansas?

OMG: I love the photos of Jazzy and Karen. What a blessing to see you two meeting for the first time. I just have to laugh though, because I pictured Jazzy as being tall and she is just an elf like me! LOL!!!

My doc put in a 450 and said she will fill it to 550. I haven't had a fill yet . . . I'm only 5 days post op from my mastectomy w/ T/E. My left breast (the one that was removed) was always larger than my right breast. Noticeably so. So I'm hoping the final implant will more match my right breast than my real breast did. Right now my chest hurts and feels tight and it feels like the expander is pushing into my underarm.

Deborah--This implant size conversation is interesting to me. My TE 133MV, were 600 filled to 750, and my implants are Mentor HP 800cc, yet I still have ripples. I know he "released" my pockets, maybe that made them bigger? I can't go bigger implant wise because I don't think there are any out there, and I'm worried that the fat grafting will make things worse. The step off really bothers me, but I feel like I've come through everything so well, that I'll mess things up if I try to have my PS "fix" me. I really appreciate it when you share what you've learned!
Glad you enjoyed the pictures it was a great day, yes Janet is a Tiny TaTa, wonderfully warm and funny, you will all have a blast.
Hugs,
Karen

Deborah.. I live in Missouri... Kansas City..Mo. Come on down...:)
This whole thing has me all ..staggered too.
Karen... with your TE at 750cc..... you were about 16.2 x6.7
Your Implants are 15.5/6.0
Your TE were larger in size than your implants....
OH BOY... Deborah.. hmmmmmmmmmmmm... what do you think on this....

Mantra.. hang in there... we all HATED the stupid TE and they looked just silly on most of us. This time will go by.. and you will have beautiful matching boobs.! Keep us posted!

One last thought by me...
Maybe we need to be looking at size to size, not Cup size.
Once we like what we have with our TE.. we need to find the implant that is the exact size and then go up about another 50 cc.
So this could mean... like in Karens case... she needed not to be as expanded... to get the 800cc. Maybe to preven rippling AND get the size she/we want... she should have been expanded to 550-600... then put the 800 in. these are more in the same...

Hey, ladies! I'm still pretty shaky, but able to get to the computer, at least. Spent yesterday mostly sleeping. Today I think the really good drugs have worn off......the vicodin and soma are my new best friends....still pretty uncomfortable. I have the drains, plus ice packs which I have to keep on til Friday - I feel like the obominable snowman (sorry - can't spell right now either!)
Anyway.....apparently the surgery went well according to my dh. No nausea - thank goodness! I had asked about the implant cards at my pre-op and they said they'd be mailed to me....so I made a point to ask in the nurse as she was removing my iv what size ps used. Although I was still quite drowsy, I'm pretty sure she said style 20 in 425cc! Va-va-voom-val!
Unveiling will be friday afternoon - hopefully drains will come out, too.
Sorry....too loopy to really read through the last couple days' posts. Hope everyone is doing well. Thanks for all the good wishes - they mean the world to me!

Ok - I have a question for everyone. Are you going with saline or gel implants? Why?
I thought that I wanted the mentor memory gel until I read their information booklet. The FDA recommends that with gel you have an mri every 2 years (first one 3 years after surgery). And the bit about "silent leaks" scared me. So, I'm going to have mentor moderate profile plus 550 saline implants. I was expanded to 580.

I'm packing the Mentor Siltex Style 6200 Medium height contour profile. Model 354-6213. 12.7 cm x 10.8 cm and projection is 7.0 cm. Have no idea what exactly this means but I'm assuming the final result will be a 34 A/B (I hope). Wink: haven't decided but I'm leaning towards saline only because I don't need any more things to worry about in my life.0

Yes I AM an elf. :-)

Val, so glad you "stopped by". Happy healing and get your rest. Can't wait to find out how great you look!

((Val)) I am glad that you did well, I can't wait to see what you think of the final outcome.
((Janet and Karen)) The picture's were AWESOME!!! I could feel the emotion in those hugs and wish I could have been there to see you both. What a great team and I love the name Ta-Ta sisterhood. ((Laura)) you were genius when you came up with that.
((Samiam)) Did you call the PS? I am curious as to what the corner thing is. Hopefully you didn't get the "Mentor Square" Implant. You have to admit a square one would be quite the conversation piece at show and tell! Jan

Deborah - Finally posted my pics. Integra TE ~ bmx 6/15/09. Now that you mention it my PS did say that he was thinking about using a type of TE that he hadn't used for awhile because they had issues but that they had improved it and he was going to use again. Thank goodness they have been okay!! Guess it helps that he has been doing this for 20 years. Just get me through the second week of November please . . . . .
Thank you for all of your help and advice!!
My partner at work had her mammogram last week and they kept her for another one and then an ultrasound. She called and told me she was waiting to see the radiologist and my heart sunk to my stomach. She had to go in for a biopsy on Monday and we won't hear until Thursday. She has been with me every step of the way and we are both praying that she will be fine.
This really stinks. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy (if I had one~gave them up years ago~just not worth the effort).

{{{Val}}} So glad things went well!! Just rest up!!!
Colleen I will say some prayers for your friend. I think we all know that feeling...ugh.

((Jan)) Thanks for following up with me. No, I didn't call the ps. I'm just going to fret about it until my appt on Monday. Best case scenario if I called would be they would have me come in and I just don't have time to make yet another trip out there right now. Enough doctors already, ya know what I mean.
((Karen)) So cool to see those pictures of you & Jazzygem.
((Val)) Rest up. Sending healing prayers.

Karen & Jazzy - the pics are such a treat to see. You both look so very happy.
((Val)) I hope you feel better soon - just remember to take it easy and take all the medication. It isn't all that often we get to take drugs anymore so take advantage of it and rest up.

samiam40,
I totally agree with enough appointments. I have been having a discharge from the areola (had nipple sparing) and tried to get in to my primary care physician. They said I had to see my ps. So I thought I was being very clever and tried to change my primary care physicians! Well, the new one wouldn't schedule me either until I saw my ps. Now I have to go see my ps in the morning and am getting very anxious. Either I am going to look like a hypochondriac or it will go badly. I am just so sorry that I even called.

Dani...trust me...you WON'T BE SORRY THAT YOU CALLED IF THIS IS SOMETHING SERIOUS!!! Good for you for calling!!! Just let us know how it goes!!! HUGS!!

((Samiam)) Keep us posted, I do get the Dr. appt. roulette. I hate it. I am starting up again myself. yearly mammo, onc, PS for fipple, yearly physical and I know they are going to want to to the dreaded colonoscopy. Monday will be here before you know it.
((Dani)) any discharge needs to be addressed, I am glad that you are taking care of it. Please write and let us know what the outcome is.
((Colleen)) I hope that your work partner is OK, please keep us posted if you don't mind sharing. The reawakening of emotions when someone else is going through this is overwhelming. I pray that the biopsy results come in on time and that they are negative. If the results are positive, I know that you can be that support person with a greater understanding of what she will be going through and hold her hand and heart during the months ahead. Hugs, Jan

Hello everyone. Just got back from my vacation and I have 15 pages to read. I hope everyone is doing okay. I will see my ps tomorrow. I will know maybe then if I am done with the expansion. Good luck to all who are having their exchange this month. (((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))). Celine
