Beautiful sunny day here. Windier than I like, but the sun is a huge consolation for me. Nothing special planned.

Sorry to hear about your 'big' adventure getting to your hairdresser's Cindy. It really does seem like we have many, many incidents now that involve people with some kind of mental upsets. These things use to be rare events, but not now.

I can relate to he hair events as well. My hair always looks better right after I've been to the shop. I think in part as I've never been 'good' with hair. It is the main reason I keep keeping perms. I feel as though the casual curls do more to hide my almost total lack of finesse with it the best.

Yay Harley. Glad it all went well.

Likely someone I've missed here. I'm frustrated this morning with getting into BC. Org as well. All was well yesterday and today the link just didn't want to function. I finally kept going till I found something that would so in the end managed to get here. It may be due in part to Microsoft every so often giving me fits over my lifetime membership for their Internet service. Just not sure. Hopefully, with some patience today, tomorrow will have it going all right again.

I hope you all have a wonderful day.

Cindy, glad you got to your hair appointment safely! It is a crazy world. When I go to this forum, I go into breastcancer.org then click on active topics. If I am not signed in, I do it then, sometimes I forget to log off. Anyway, in the top right it will have a magnifying glass, bell, letter. It will tell me how many new comments to the topics I frequent. Honestly, I forget now how I set that up. Good luck!

Talk about crazy world. Not sure anyone heard this but it went to national news. Last week a 33 yr old man shot his father, who worked for the federal gov't as an engineer. Then he proceeded to decapitate him, went on his computer and posted a graphic and politically charged video, holding his father's head! It got over 5,000 views before they took it down!

Cindy, it must have been "weird hair dresser/ crazy event connection" day yesterday as it turned out that my hairdresser's son is a local police detective and he was sent to pick up this man after he was captured 100 miles away from his home. The murder happened near where I live. The man graduated from the same school district I worked for, but I never knew him because I worked in a different middle school than he attended. My hairdresser's other son knew the man from High School. Apparently he was a very smart kid who got "sucked in to the dark side" when he was in college. I feel so sorry for his mother, who came home to find her husband decapitated! The father was well respected, as was the family! The whole situation is so profoundly sad.

On a MUCH happier note, apparently there is a baby boom at the middle school I used to work at. One of the teachers I worked with had twins a few weeks ago, another had a baby boy and two other teachers are expecting this spring! Nothing is quite so wonderful as a new life entering the world!

Harley, I am SO happy that you got good test result news! I had a very bad experience with a gynecologist years ago. She did a uterine biopsy, then sent me for an ultrasound a few days later, then due to the report, sent me for a hysteroscopy and D&C and as I was coming out of anesthesia, told me "That was a waste of my time!" Needless to say, I never saw her again, I didn't even go back for a follow up visit, even after the office called me and tried to talk me into it! I originally went to her for post-menopausal bleeding, and later it occurred to me that had she sent me to get the US first, then did the biopsy it probably would not have shown anything. The idiot doctor caused scar tissue when she did the biopsy and I think that was what the radiologist saw that he thought was suspicious! Live and learn….sometimes the hard way!

It sure doesn't take long to get behind in reading the posts. I have been working on tax organization, but still waiting on some 1099's. They missed sending some of the pages in my organization packet, so I wrote notes where the pages should have been. I still haven't received my over payment check from IRS for last year. It has been 11 months. Last time I called they said I would have it by 2/28/24. I will believe it when I see it.

Half of my Yoga group were out sick. One of the ill went to the PCP and has type A influenza. It seems they all have the same symptoms. Unfortunately they are also in my grief group and some attend the same church as I. I had my Flu vaccine, so hopefully I will be safe.

MM, I am glad you are COVID negative. I loved the trip down memory lane.

Jackie, I can remember how tired I was from radiation. I had to stay hydrated and eat protein bars.

Betrayal, I am glad to have been able to get back to doing a few things around the house. Hoping the wound will stop draining so much and healing to start.

Cindy, Have safe trip. Sad for your loss.

Taco, good to hear from you.

Puffin, Loved the hummingbird picture. Hope your arm heals quickly.

Chris, hope the inserts work well for you.

Carole, one of my friends had a double mastectomy and had to have both implants removed when they started leaking. Her mom died from BC and she had the gene. It was a prophylactic mastectomy. She did not put new ones in. She said at this age, she no longer cares.

    I hope I didn't forget anyone.

So glad to see you here Petite. I sure do hope you will not get the flu. I use to forgo those shots all the time, but rarely miss since my first cancer dx. back in 2007. I haven't missed, as far as I know, any updates on any of the covid shots available either. Getting older does seem to convince you how venerable you can be. It has also helped me slow down after having a couple falls as well.

Just a note here for anyone having any issues getting into BC. Org. I was as well and I found a place to let them know I wasn't having a lot of success signing in. Seems they were in the midst of having to do a repair cycle on something and sure enough in a couple of hrs. sent word to me that they had accomplished the fix and all should be well.

I don't seem to have much trouble here, so I was taken by surprise. Hope you are all over the hump as well.

I was able to get into the site as usual tonight. The list of how many new posts got me in.

My last stitch just came out! My tongue can stop focusing on stitches. The small things that mean so much. It was almost 2 full weeks.

Thats it. Have a great Thursday!

All that we are is the result of what we have thought; it is founded upon our thoughts, it is made up of our thoughts. If one speaks or acts with a pure thought, happiness follows that person, like a shadow that never leaves.    -Gautama Buddha

Oh my, it has gotten cloudy. The good news is that it is almost 60 degrees out. Few have coats on out and if they do, they are light jackets — more to break the wind which is up today. Hate to think about it but likely helping to possibly bring in some rain.

Cindy, I am rejoicing with you. No more feeling around with your tongue for those little pieces of thread. I'm reminded of being alone in the bedroom with a ravenous mosquito overnight. You will have it keeping you awake so matter how tired you might be in hopes of doing away with it.

I'm late today but knew I would be as I had to run to Walmart's for my fresh litter before I could empty and wash the potty boxes and re-fill. A chore I usually prepare for a couple of days in advance, but I've been a bit more tired this week and allowed the lazy person in me to have her way. It's all done now. I also had to stop at two stores to find the bread I buy and have learned to really like. It is made by Nature's Own and is the Butter top. It has 90 mgs of salt in each slice which is 20 mgs. less per slice than what I was using. Also, Dh will eat it w/o complaint. He who has been yrs. now not allowing a piece of white bread to pass through his lips.

I was thinking of making some chili tonight (I still might) but did have some second thoughts due to the outside warmth. If we do get rain, it likely will seem plenty damp enough to enjoy a warm bowl of chili. I also have plans to make some polenta to cool, then in the morning slice it and cook it like a pancake. We eat it with butte and maple syrup on it. No salt to consider as it is quite minimal so as to allow me more than I'd get if I actually went for pancakes. Who can be satisfied with 1 & 1/2 pancakes. I don't generally eat really small amts. of anything although I have managed to be a lot more severe with desserts. I have found that three bites (not too small) give me as much satisfaction as if I'd eaten much more. Works best when I've been able to have my usual sized servings of meat and veggies first.

Hope you are all well, or well on your way.

Just arrived home from Imaging Center where I had the chest MRI. Glad I had ear muffs with all the banging and clanging. What a noisy process! My body wasn't happy lying on my stomach in the necessary position but I relaxed and concentrated on breathing. The 30 minutes passed. I'm now considering the choice of not having new implants if the old ones have to be removed. A lot will depend on what the plastic surgeon tells me when I go for my appointment on the 20th.

While I was at the imaging center, dh was having an appointment with the oral surgeon who will remove his wisdom tooth that has been causing jaw pain. I will have to go with him and drive him home because he will be under anesthetic for the surgery.

Yeah Carole, the MRI is over!!!! Hope for good news! I feel sorry for your DH, I had all my wisdom teeth taken in four different surgeries, ugh, but I was in my late teens and 20's. I would make sure to have some pliable ice packs in the freezer for quick use! If you mix rubbing alcohol with water in a small bag, it gets slushy. I forget the exact amounts.

illinois, glad the cats have fresh litter. Another reason I don't want a cat, although my DGD hasn't stopped her campaign to talk me into getting a kitten! LOL!

If anyone wants to have a great laugh, google Saturday Night Live, George Washington skit. It is NOT a political skit, it is about weights and measures. It is my go to clip whenever I feel depressed as I can't help but laugh at it! I will try to attach the link but if it doesn't work, just google it. It is an older clip.

Saw surgeon today for follow-up on wound vac and will have it for at least 2 more weeks. She changed dressing so it will be interesting to see if it lasts as long as the one applied by Visiting nurse. This has to last until Monday so my fingers are crossed that I have no alarms. The office nurse found an area of irritated skin on my side and put a special dressing on it. Hard for me to see incision without use of a mirror but will be glad when it is healed. So it looks like it might be March before I am free of any dressings. This has been grueling experience to say the least.

Sun is out, it is going to the 50's and I have daffodils, hyacinths and crocuses peeking through the soil. Spring can't come soon enough for me.

I am going to try to do some light housekeeping in the primary bedroom which hasn't been touched since before my surgery in December. It needs to be straightened up because DH just dumps stuff in there rather than putting it away and it needs dusting. Can't use vacuum yet so he will have to do that. I'll allow myself 30 minutes and see how much I can accomplish. I don't want to overdo it and I am still limited as far as weight lifting <5 lb. I feel good but do tire easily and PT is pleased with my progress on balance and movement.

Puffin, loved the hummingbird picture. I have one who returns every year around Mother's Day and is quite selfish about letting any other hummingbirds at the feeder. The feeder is large enough to feed multiples but they fight over it. Reminds me of Star Wars battle scenes when they buzz each other. Hope your arm heals soon.

Petite1, good to see you. When I overpaid the IRS the check they sent had interest applied so I hope you get some, too.

Carole, glad MRI is over and hope you get the info you need about future actions.

Cindyny, glad sutures are out and you are healing.

Harley, glad your results were favorable and the procedure is over.

Hope anyone I have missed realizes there is so much here to comment on it is hard to remember it all, so I wish you all well.

Have a good weekend and if you have the opportunity to get outdoors to enjoy the higher temps, please do so. I will miss them for now.

The MRI report indicated no disease but a ruptured right implant. Now I have to get more information on whether removal is a must for health reasons.

DH had the wisdom tooth that was causing jaw pain removed yesterday and is doing well.

So we're all set for a peaceful weekend. We like the 49ers and the Chiefs so may the best team win. We both find all the hoopla over Taylor Swift funny and ridiculous.

Sandy has been missing. I hope she's ok and also her son and dh.

    mavericksmom Member Posts: 1,275

Sorry to hear about your ruptured implant. If your implant is silicone, I think it will need to be taken out. If saline, it shouldn't be a big deal if it is left in. My implant, since it was only put in last year, so it should out live me, unless I get in an accident where I have impact on my fake breast. My other breast is from DIEP and I am still mad that I couldn't have both breasts removed in 2019 because my breast surgeon lied to me!

I feel sorry for your husband! Sending healing vibes to both of you!

I also agree that the Super Bowl hoopla over Taylor Swift is ridiculous.

I do want the 49ers to win, but I am rooting for the Chiefs because all the teams I rooted for lately have lost. LOL Seriously, I don't care who wins! It's my DH's birthday tomorrow, so I just hope it is a good game and a safe one! I am not fond of the half-time shows, but I admit, I do love listening to Usher!

Jackie, cats are a lot of work. Take your time on chores.

Carole, glad you made it through the MRI. I’m unsure what protocol is for a ruptured implant. I wish you luck. Your DH having a tooth extracted, I can relate!

MM - I’m glad you have a “go to” when you’re feeling depressed.

Betrayal, you’ve had more than your share of troubles with this surgery. Fingers crossed you make it to Monday with the latest dressing.

It’s been a strange few days. The partners SIL passing was the beginning. Then I read obits back in NY local paper and saw a cousin died. She was 69, type 1 diabetic from her teen years. We both worked for NYS and ran into each other at conferences and such. We’d always chat and catch up. Being in FL I wouldn’t have made it back, there is no service but a memorial mass per her wishes, on Monday.

Then a gf text that her dad was hospitalized and has been moved to hospice. He fell and hit his head; he’s on blood thinners. He had brain bleeds, taken off thinners, then worried about stroke. She said from the fall he also went blind. Quite agitated but calm with his daughter’s voice. Just a horrible way to go. He is a retired city firefighter. I hope he passes peacefully.

Sandy - I too am hoping you’re ok, and just busy with life.

Super Bowl party tomorrow at 5:30. Live bands playing at a seafood festival we’re headed to before the SB party. I’m hoping to enjoy both but feel kind of off from the events I mentioned above.

Weather was 80 today, but overcast & windy, so didn’t feel too hot. Tomorrow supposed to be 80+. By Tuesday back down to 74, more to my liking.

Petite, I hope you’re safe from predicted upcoming storms.

I'm seeing no comments since Sat. Is everyone alright?

Mods, this is very unusual for this group. Is there a computer problem again?

Cindy, I too am feeling like everyone I know is struggling and I seem to be trying to take it all on. My BFF says to "just breathe." I'm thinking maybe I need to go back to my 12 step meeting to be reminded to "accept the things I cannot change."

We were rooting for the 49ers but enjoyed the game. For the second year, our hostess had us play "Super Bowl Bingo" which she found on line. Fun for all ages and even for those who really aren't into football.

Cindy, condolences on the passing of your cousin. Years ago, I found out a cousin of mine passed away at a hospital not far from my home. I didn't even know she was ill. That is not the way we want to find out about loved one's passing! Also, very sorry to read about your gf's father, may he pass on peacefully.

    Sandy, you are missed!

Minustwo, great to hear from you even if it was just to say you lurk but have no BCO issues!

    Jackie, you too are missed!

taco, I had some issues logging on yesterday, but none today. I did report to the mods that there was spam on the site, which they cleaned up. Maybe things were lost then? I also think sometimes our lives just get busy or events happen that cause us either to not want to log on or prevent us from logging on. I hope you are doing well!

Snowing here, schools are closed, but the best kind of snow, assuming one does not have anywhere to go today. It is a wet snow, beautiful to look at, and with temperatures expected to rise throughout the day, shouldn't hang around very long. I have an eye specialist appointment tomorrow, but not until the afternoon so I am not worried about getting there.

Wishing all in healing mode a good recovery!

I'm not having any problems logging on but I don't always feel like" talking." I assume others feel the same way. It's like being in a group and listening to the conversation while not being inclined to join in.

Today is Mardi Gras day and the parades will be telecast on the New Orleans tv stations all day. DH was watching the History channel when I got up this morning. There's a parade in a nearby town today but today is just Tuesday to us. We've "done" Mardi Gras many times in the past and I have a collection of distinctive beads.

Happy Tuesday or Happy Mardi Gras to all.

Tried unsuccessfully to log in yesterday and finally sent email to help@bco.org Noted few had opted to post when access was finally available.

Disagree with MM about snow because it started shortly after 6 am and was just supposed to be a dusting. It is still snowing heavily and all the trees have snow encrusted branches. It it a heavy, wet snow and the type that kills those trying to shovel driveways, etc. Yes, they predicted it will reach the low 40's and should melt but considering how wrong they have been so far, I would think that is wishful thinking at this point.

VN says wound is slowly shrinking but undermining persists but it too is shrinking. This is now week 7 postop and if all had gone well, I would be being discharged by surgeon. I am doing more around the house each day but still have weight restriction so no mopping, vacuuming, etc. DH does the vacuuming.

Seeing deer in the woods. There are 5 and weight of snow is pulling some tall bushes, they like to eat during the winter, within nibble range. It makes a picture perfect scene. I think we are house bound for now. Not that I go out other than to surgeon appointments.

Having an issue with feet and calf swelling and not responding to low dose diuretics. I try to keep them elevated but then it means I am not moving around. By the end of the day they hurt and I cannot wear shoes. I made a telemedicine appointment with PCP because I am reluctant to go to an office, other than surgeon's. with my wound vac system in tow. I imagine I could have hidden the equipment in a large tote but the real problem is that the incision is so low, it is difficult to get clothing on and having to deal with the drainage tubing coming out the top of my waist band. Forget getting underwear on, that is a definite negative. Appointment is Thursday at 5 PM. So I hope I get answers. I did order some larger sized compression stockings and they will be delivered soon.

Birds have been scrounging on patio looking for bird seed so DH will throw some out to them because he won't be able to get to feeder today. Funny how they remember where seed was from just a few weeks ago.

Overcast but a beautiful backdrop for this winter wonderland.

Cindyny, sorry about the recent family deaths you have had. May their memories be a blessing.

Hope everyone else with issues, can get a quick resolution. Wish everyone a wonderful day.

I’m off to the dentist for a different tooth problem. Saturday an upper molar felt like I bit down hard on a cherry pit or similar, but I hadn’t bit a thing. Now it hurts to tap on it, or by accident if hit it with the toothbrush. I see $$$$ dancing in my eyes! Wish me luck. 🍀

Betrayal, I hear you on weather forecasters, but apparently at least in my neck of the woods, they were spot on this time as all roads are clear as are my car, driveway and sidewalks. Yards are still covered in snow. Once the sun came out and things warmed up quickly on and the snow on hard surfaces was gone. Worst will be tomorrow morning before the temperature rises as all the puddles/left over snow, will be ice. Thankfully I don't need to go anywhere until afternoon. I am sorry you are still having issues, the swelling is concerning! Glad at least the wounds are shrinking!

Cindy, I am so sorry you have yet another dental issue! Sometimes it does feel as if it is one thing after another! You can't seem to catch a break! I hope the dentist can help and the cost is not high to fix!

Phew! Dentist x-rayed, nothing there - no sign of infection or abscess. What he thinks happened was wearing the retainer, however thin it is, puts a layer of material on the bottom teeth so things aren’t lining up as usual with the top teeth. I think the one back molar is the only thing touching, and taking the brunt of everything. I was extremely relieved.

By the time I arrived home I had expended do much nervous energy I didn’t get much else done.

We did take the car to the car wash. We visited grandsons in Fort Lauderdale yesterday, and drove back through Alligator Alley at night. There were more dead bugs on my car than I’ve ever seen. What a mess!

MM, our upstate NY home was in line for up to 8” of snow. But fortunately for them, it missed them. No snow.

Betratal, you’ve been out through the wringer with this. I’m hoping your leg swelling goes away soon.

Carole, let the good times roll! I can say it in French, but I’d have to look up the spelling to write it.

Taco, I know I have to remind myself that I have no control over things. My gf dad’s obit isn’t in the newspaper yet. I’ve sent notes, and I’ll send her an orange basket from our local citrus store.

Cooler today and I should have walked but going to the dentist took over my head. Should be cool tomorrow too.

Here’s something to laugh at. I buy Valentine’s Day doughnuts from Krispy Kreme for neighborhood kids. I put each one in a separate little KK bag and that’s my sweets for them. Well I’m getting a new faucet installed tomorrow, want to walk too, so figured I’d run there after dinner and buy the doughnuts. We got there and there were 3 Valentine’s Day doughnuts left. Wasted trip. I’ll go as soon as I’m up and functioning tomorrow. No good deed goes unpunished.

I may private message Sandy, she’s been MIA too long.

I ordered my Skyrizi syringes yesterday for my first 2 doses. They'll come in a temperature controlled box from Fed Ex that I'll need to sign for. There will be a card inside, if it's white the syringe is safe to use, if it's pink it means the temperature parameters have been exceeded and I need to reorder. The second dose is given 28 days after the first. I'm going on another cruise in March so had to adjust my injection times so they'll fall before and after the cruise. The psoriasis on my arm is looking better, but that's from the steroid injection I got. My first Skyrizi injection will be March 1.

Thanks for sending them PM's Cindy. I have tried to contact Jackie via email but no response, so I am very worried. I last got an email from her on Feb. 7th. I think that was the last day she posted on here as well. That is one of the downsides of making friends on BCO even knowing personal email. If a user has no one to inform group on BCO of happenings, like hospitalizations, or worse, the community is left wondering, sad and never knowing what happened. That is why when I need to take a break, I write that on the board.

It is hard to think either Sandy or Jackie would simply stop communicating without good reason. Both are strong women who would not ignore a whole group simply because they were offended by something someone said. It has to be something serious, and like you, I am very worried about them!

Sun is shining but it will be tough for that alone to make me feel "mentally" great today. Between our MIA group members, the shooting in KC, and the fact that Russia now wants to have atomic weapons in space, life is very serious and concerning. Worse yet, little we can do about any of it. My best hope is that we hear from Sandy and Jackie soon!

For all who are healing, continued thoughts of you!

Puffin, glad to hear about your shots and that your issues are going to be under control! Also, nice that you will soon be on another trip! You live life to the very fullest and that makes me smile! Can't wait to see pictures!

Wishing all here a good day!

I'm also concerned about Jackie and Sandy. Hope both of them are ok and will post soon.

DH continues to have jaw pain following the wisdom tooth extraction. He saw the surgeon yesterday and got a prescription for antibiotic but no explanation. DH's eye ailment which I assume is conjunctivitis seems to be getting better with the use of prescription eye drops. He had to cancel the appointment with the eye doctor because it conflicted with the oral surgeon appointment. When he's suffering, it's impossible for me to feel good.

    Wishing everyone a peaceful Thursday.

Nothing back from either Jackie or Sandy. Not comforting.

Carole, re your DH tooth pain. When they pulled 1 tooth last year, I was in quite a bit of pain. Antibiotic taken plus it was packed with some antibiotic material, but only took Advil. This last time with 3 pulled they gave me scripts for an 800 mg ibuprofen and OxyContin. Only needed the Oxy for a period of 1 day, but definitely needed it to get ahead of the pain. Fingers crossed his pain goes away.

I got a walk in but later in the day. Just as I was at the door to leave my neighbor called. He installed our new hands feee kitchen faucet but it moves, can’t get it tight enough not to move. Anyway I didn’t get out to walk until noon.

I installed a new shower head too. At one point it sprayed all over me. Good thing I can laugh at myself. It’s a hand held piece that fits inside another part; you switch for one or the other, or both. I thought it was in one position but nope!

We also used a very powerful glue to reattach the front lanai door sweep. Neighbor handyman friend had it, and had to drill into it to reach soft glue. Well I don’t have a lot of hand strength. So while sitting on the sidewalk I couldn’t get much out. So I stood on it. A crack at back let out a tiny amount onto the sidewalk. And you know how it ends - I sat in it. Asked my partner if he saw any on me. Nope. But of course it was wet and later I could see it dried. I’ve tried nail polish remover, WD-40, laundry detergent and finally washed it. It’s now in the freezer - by it, I mean a new pair of Under Armour capri workout pants. BUT the door sweep is glued on there nicely! I ordered a new pair pants.

Valentine’s day was a work day. HAHA Per my request we ordered a pizza, where I could cut it up and eat at home without the retainer in. And then we were out for some Culver’s frozen custard. A good day.

I’m way behind again. I’ve been reading posts, but did not take notes. Like many of you, I’m very concerned about Jackie’s and Sandy’s absence from this forum. I hope we hear from them soon.

Carole - I’m sorry to hear about your DH’s dental issues. It’s amazing how a problem in our mouth can make us feel miserable all over.

Cindy - I admire your handy woman skills. Sorry to hear you ruined a pair of pants but at least you weren’t stuck to the ground. 😀

Puffin - I hope the psoriasis continues to improve. Enjoy your March cruise.

Betrayal - glad to hear you are making progress as I know this has been quite the unexpected ordeal.

We are on our South American adventure and loving it. Watched the Super Bowl Sunday night in Spanish while in Buenos Aires. Lovely food and art tour yesterday in Uruguay. Today we are cruising along the coast of Argentina and while I was on the elliptical there was a pod of dolphins jumping just outside the window - certainly not a sight I would see in Illinois.

I’m thinking of each of you and hope you are doing well.
