@illinoislady, you could try periodically clicking on the "Save Draft" button to the left of the "Post Comment" button while writing a post. I know how frustrating it can be typing a long, heartfelt, thoughtful post only to lose it. It has definitely happened to me when I've been on a moderation shift. 😂

Sandy, go for it! Kitty mom, you know your HK heart will melt.

Betrayal, it sounds like you’re turning a corner.

Petite, I’m able to take my walks at noon if I want. Morning are very cool, even down here.

Jackie, you’ll be back on track with that computer fix.

MM - I too couldn’t foster a dog. It would break my heart giving it back.

Chris , it sounds like you’re doing much better. Unfair about the lease not being renewed, but hoping you & Tippy will make out ok.

I’m pulling a blank on the rest of what I read tonight. Good thoughts to all of you.

Yesterday I got out for my walk. Postponed doing my taxes for as long as I could, but then settled in to do it. Realized I didn’t have my 1099-R, couldn’t proceed.

Today in my haste to get out of the house - people were texting me & sending videos, and I didn’t want to stay in answering them all - I got to the garage and realized I couldn’t see, I didn’t have my contact lenses in. Ran back in the house and put them in. Back out I go, got the audio book set, and I take off. I was enjoying the sun, the book and I’m not sure at what point I realized I didn’t put my Invisalign retainer in. Yup, I had no bottom front teeth. Well. All I could do was laugh at myself for hustling out unprepared. I kept going.

Back home I had a lot of calls to make because the 1099-R wasn’t in today’s mail. But I received my Medicare cards in the mail! Official start date 6/1. The 1099-R, I was able to log into my retirement system after setting up registration info, which included 7 security questions! I still need to call my health benefits office to change out of a HMO into a PPO.

I’ll get to the taxes soon enough. I’m only doing a rough draft. I always check standard deduction vs itemizing. Sometimes it’s much more work to itemize, and if it’s close I’ll go with the standard deduction.

That’s enough of my day. Hoping yours went well.

I did my federal tax return using a free service listed on the IRS website. It was as easy as Turbo Tax which has been costing more every year for Basic. The whole process took me about an hour, maybe an hour and a half. We're getting a large refund because I withhold too much for federal taxes. I need to stop withholding so much.

DH is continuing to have jaw or facial pain on the right side. The oral surgeon who extracted his wisdom tooth is very concerned and agrees with dh that the pain may not be related to the wisdom tooth extraction. We're not sure where to go next for diagnosis. The surgeon is going to look into locating a neurologist who specializes in jaw or facial pain of this type. The pain is quite severe and is limiting dh's ability to eat and drink. Even talking can be painful.

Meanwhile I met with the plastic surgeon who did my reconstruction surgery almost 15 years ago. He can replace the implants using the same pockets behind the pectoral muscles but favors creating a new pocket on top of the muscles. It's up to me. It would be an outpatient surgery and he said in a few days I would be going about my daily life but not doing anything strenuous. He uses a pain block that lasts about four days. I had to laugh when he asked, "What about size?" As though I wanted to have larger implants! LOL. I told him I would be having a birthday in March and would be 81. He is almost 75 and is thinking of retiring.

He is married to my bc surgeon and they share an office. They have been making trips to Africa and have photos of animals hanging on all the walls. Their own photos. They are both such likable down to earth people. And highly respected in the medical community.

I have a tee time today to play some solo golf. Probably 9 holes. I haven't played in at least a couple of months because it has been too wet and sometimes too cold. I find I would rather go out and play by myself rather than go to the driving range. My interest has dwindled but we still pay for the club membership and I have golf acquaintances my age and older who still play quite well. I wish I lived near Taco and could play with her!

    Happy Wednesday to all.

Thanks to the moderators. I had forgotten the save draft feature sitting right next to post your comment. Likely as I've never used it before. All the time (thankfully becoming way less frequent over time and use) before the new BC. Org version and I had long ago stopped noticing it was there.

Cindy, I was smiling a bit about your escaping your house only to find you weren't ready quite. I have often done something similar. Happens in my house, and most often if I wake up and can't get comfy back in bed so go out to the living room to my recliner. I see well enough to walk around in the morning but most everything else is a wash-out. By the time I start wondering why my eyes are suddenly so much worse it dawns on me my glasses are still on my bedside table in my bedroom. Just to get the REAL idea, I keep an extra older pair on the bedside table as well. Often, if I take off my glasses and lay them on the bed to pull a shirt over my head I can no longer see the glasses so use the extra pr. at bedside to find my current glasses. Sigh!! Actually funny, but till I learned to keep the older glasses around it was highly annoying.

Long ago we did out own taxes but at some point they got a bit complicated so we started using tax people to do it. In fact, the first couple of yrs. after we moved from California back here to my childhood home in Illinois we sent them back to the Calif. husband and wife team who did them for us while we were Calif. residents. They finally talked us into finding someone more local.

When our taxes got easier again I considered something like Turbo Tax but right about that time I read something on the Internet about the fact that many people were finding out their taxes done through the Turbo system were wrong. Since I was never able to confirm the story nor find out what it was that made some people turn in taxes with errors and others not, we just went to a local tax service.

Carole, withholding too much is likely a bit better than not enough. Well, you now maybe can do something extra this yr. A couple of little week-end jaunts somewhere or something. I always looked on our refunds (which we use to get every yr. till Reagan got in office) as an extra free little savings acct. It was in fact, money we would not have been able to save so we generally HOPED that any appliances that broke or repairs we might need to make would come around tax time.

Carole, I sure hope your oral surgeon is able to find someone to help your Dh deal with his facial/mouth issues. That sounds not only somewhat un-healthy along with depressing. Not being able to eat the good foods you need terrible and likely your Dh feels some dread for meal times etc. Fingers crossed that someone is found soon and that there is not much of a treatment wait.

I'm giggling too about that implant size. It I think would not bother me to go flat if something happened. In fact, I'd likely be happy not to have to bra shop anymore. As is, where my ICD went in makes some of the bras I have very un-comfortable so I need to go find more.

Like many of you, I would find it hard to foster a dog because most anyone who end ups in my home becomes a rather whole part of us. I think early on my "bonding" material got fully developed. That said, though, hats off to all those marvelous people who do animal foster work. I know like those here who work in food banks and other like places it is such a needed thing to have people who desire to help others be they people or animals. I think all of you who do or have done those things are very special and I envy you a bit for it.

I hope you are all going to have a marvelous day. It is 64 here right now. Un-believable. I fear a bunch of people may end up with colds from the quick changes that are taking place. It may rain by tomorrow which would not be a surprise at all. Just hoping if so we don't turn back to the brrrr. kind of weather.

    Hugs to all.

Jackie, so nice to read a long post from you. It's a lovely day here, too. I enjoyed getting out and playing 9 holes of golf. I had the energy to play longer, but I caught up with groups in front of me and started having to wait despite playing two balls. Now I need to make use of the nettie pot to rinse my sinuses. I could tell the pollen was in the air because I could feel grit in my eyes.

I texted our BIL, the retired physician on dh's side of our extended family, about dh's jaw pain situation. BIL made a suggestion we had not thought about, that a pain specialist might be able to help with a nerve block. Something to keep in mind.

Jackie, I too enjoyed reading your post.

Cindy, thanks for the laugh, but sorry you left your house without being truly ready. You did make a funny memory, that put a smile on our faces because we could all relate!

Carole, woohoo for 9 holes, even though you wanted to do more. I hope the pain doctor can give your DH some relief! Why is it pain seems to happen to the good people? There are some people, namely politicians, I wish would suffer some pain, but alas, they never seem too!

Sandy, wondering if there is any purring in your house yet?

I have my oncology follow-up visit tomorrow. It will take longer to drive there and get to his office than the actual appointment. I think the visit will be a waste of time. That sounds terrible, I know, but I have no complaints, nothing has changed, I have years left taking the AI, he doesn't examine me (not that I need that), so I may ask if I can see him yearly now with the understanding that I will make an appointment if something changes.

While I am thankful not to need mammograms anymore, not having any testing is unsettling too. I understand that there is no testing to do, but some oncologists test blood for cancer markers and no one has done that for me since 2003. I would take comfort knowing those levels are down.

I feel as if there is no "safety net" for me to know if cancer spread. I just have to assume that as long as my normal blood work is good (ordered by my cardiologist) and I feel fine, all IS fine. Since that is the case, I would rather put breast cancer in the back of my mind and only have yearly follow up visits. I think I will request that tomorrow and see what he says.

Carole, oh I hope the pain management people can help your DH.

Jackie, it is nice seeing you back in action.

MM, May the oncology appointment be as boring as you expect.

I got my walk in today, another beautiful day, with my contacts and retainer in!

Never touched the taxes. Made some phone calls to switch out of my HMO and get into a PPO; they shut down at noon on Wednesday for training. I’ll try again tomorrow.

AC maintenance guy here tomorrow, they’re calling me in the morning with the time. House - should be finished with painting tomorrow too. Then I have one day to get all the furniture back out on the lanais, dust & vacuum inside, before guests arrive.

We went to Marco Island for our realtors happy hour. They do this multiple times a year, gathering at a restaurant and put out a spread with drinks. Our goody bag was a nice zippered cooler, with a plush beach towel, large coffee mugs with candy. Anyone looking for their “slice of paradise” in SWFL (Marco, Naples, Estero, Fort Myers) I can highly recommend The Bartos Group. (we purchased in 2015 and are invited to multiple events a year by this family run business; plug done!)

I asked my partner if it was ok to post a picture of him; he said sure. The sun was setting, the chill set in, we left about 6:50 and I grabbed the sunset photo as we headed to the car.

Hope we all have a good Thursday!

What beautiful water and a gorgeous sunset. Being a water person it would be hard to disappoint me. The sunset is a magnificent bonus. Your 'partner's picture is not at all hard to look at either. Your sales company sells in some very upscale areas in those islands. It is great they take care to advertise in such a well-structured way.

Far as I know it stayed dry last night, but we did have a bit of a rain squall this a.m. with some hail for good measure. Though cloudy, we have seen the sun a few times already. It is 61 right now and I say who knows. This time of year we can get anything. Yesterday was in the very low 70's mark, but some years have given us snow and cold air — so fingers crossed that this past now melted snow will have been it for the year. I can fall in a bit of love with a nice snow, but definitely would rather see it come in what I consider the actual wintertime which is mainly December here. We use to have a month of snow and a month of cold air. Sometimes together, but often not. For me then, I'm over ANY desire for snow now. I'm looking for any tiny sign of spring and waiting with baited breath.

Also awaiting word for H & H Computer. I'm hoping but there again it depends so much on the mail delivery. I'm sure Tony would get that part in me for me as soon as possible as he knows I get a major amt. of emails per day.

Fingers crossed MM that you have a good appt. with your oncology appt. Hope it turns out just the way you want it.

The one thing I never gave a lot of thought to was health issues at I aged. In fact, when I broke my arm (I was 73 — soon to reach 74 then) \I really never had much going on. My energy level was always great, and my check-ups were almost always the same which is to say predictably boring. Do we ever know exactly when something begins. It now seems to me that the arm started it all. I feel like it has been one thing after the other and sure hope that this Spring and its renewal will renew me as well. I have what I have and I can live with it, but I'm hoping I don't add anything more. A nice, quite long holding pattern with nothing new coming up is what I'm hoping and praying for.

I hope that for everyone. Older age gives us some good retirement time to do things that were much more difficult during the time everything had to revolve around a job. So, I'm hoping we all get to do as much as we'd like, and not have to spend too much of that time in a Dr's. waiting room. Here's to us.

Hope you are all having a fine day.

I had a great visit with my oncologist yesterday. Somehow, for reasons I do not know, I really am "rocking boring" when it comes to health! In other words, my current health (knock on wood) is better than it has been in years! I had five medical appointments this year and all were great! That hasn't happened form years! Also, my bloodwork is great!

My oncologist is now my very favorite doctor! Why? Other than being a great doctor, he NEVER brings up my weight, let alone, try to push me into taking drugs I don't want or having bariatric surgery! My dentist and glaucoma doctor are also on my "favorites" list as they don't have scales! LOL

I will probably regret bragging about how great I feel, but wow, I feel like I did 10 years ago! Even my energy level has returned!

Carole, I hope your DH has received relief from all the pain!

Betrayal, I think of you often and wish you continued healing!

Jackie, I was aware of health issues as one ages due to my parents. My mother had a lot of issues as far back as I can remember. She had a kidney removed in the 1960's and things spiraled after that. I don't worry about health unless I have a current issue and I am VERY appreciative of not having an issue now!

Cloudy with showers today, but I am excited that my DH and I are getting a call from a dear friend we haven't spoken with in years. She is an AKC judge and we have known her since the late 70's when we started showing dogs. I hope we can attend some dog shows this year. We still enjoy watching the Westminster Dog Show on TV, but it's not the same as walking around at a show. We have some fairly large outdoor shows near us, so hopefully the weather will be great and we can take our lawn chairs and attend some this spring.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

MM, you seem to be in a great state of mind! Good for you. My dh plays golf with a man whose wife trains dogs. We aren't dog people but do occasionally watch the famous dog show on tv.

His pain level has not subsided, affecting him when he eats and drinks and talks. When he moves his right jaw. He has an appointment with a pain specialist on Tuesday. He is off to play golf today but he won't stay for lunch with the guys, as he often did before this jaw pain hit him.

Meanwhile I am self-absorbed in my situation with the ruptured implant and deciding what to do. Remove and replace or remove and don't replace. The second option isn't as simple as it might seem because there would be surplus skin and new scarring. New mental adjustment.

As I said on another forum, I looked up the One Step forum which was my mainstay the first year following my diagnosis and surgery. The few women posting on the forum were my support group. I'm the only one who stayed on bc.org and I would love to reconnect with them and find out how they're getting along. But we knew each other by our avatars, not our real names. We were like friends from different worlds wearing masks.

It's a spring day here which means I will probably be making use of the nettie pot to combat the effects of a world full of pollen.

Wishing everyone a good Friday. Apologies for being so ME focused.

Good morning, ladies. It has warmed up and I had a pleasant walk this morning. I have done all I can do with the taxes until all the 1099's come in. It is even more complicated since last year. Since my DH passed so late in the year there are still 1099's in his name and the the EIN number for the estate, plus the EIN number for the business, before I cancelled it. Next year should be easy.

I need to go to the dump before card board boxes totally take over the garage. I hope to get that completed before the rain comes in this afternoon.

MM, My SIL's insurance stopped covering PT just before she became Medicare eligible. When she did, she got an Advantage plan with SilverSneakers. The SilverSneakers program had a personal trainer at s gym near her. The trainer took an interest in helping her. So far, so good.

Jackie, so good to read your long post.

    Cindy, love the photo's.

    Sandy, any kitties, yet?

    Betrayal, glad you are healing.

Sun is out bright today and it should get up to 60. A bit cooler, but I'm not complaining. I'm still on Dh's computer (Ugg) but surely soon. Tony thought about a week, but we had the holiday in there plus last week-end. Dh would have been okay had I chosen to get a new computer, but I would have needed the parts for my not so old one fixed just to do a transfer — so I opted to wait for the parts. Here's hoping. I could still hear today if the part arrives.

MM, it was so good to read your post. I was actually thrilled for you. I often through the months thought about your struggle with Dr.'s visits that didn't go well for you and the fact that you were just ready to nearly quit them all. I do think harping on someone wt. over time is a bit antagonistic. I doubt whether many, many yrs. ago before affordable gyms and personal trainers and all sorts of "help" were available that much was made of those who were overwt. There was no Internet then and even where I grew the majority of mothers (if I recall) were not always overwt. but often plump and never complained of the medical people they saw making issues of it. Many in my family have been overwt. so it has never much bothered me, and not even too much when I gained way too much myself. I am overwt. as we speak but not too far over.

As well, I've seen a pretty fair number of overweight Doc's male and female. I do think there is better training now than once was the case, but there are in fact (I've known some) not only overweight Doc's but those who smoke too much and tend to drink more than they should as well. If they don't do these things then good for them — taking the medicine to heart they may be recommending for you. That said, mention it, then leave it go. Most people are aware of pros and cons in their life and will do what indicates when THEY not someone else feel the need. So good for you MM. It has obviously given you a happier outlook. We all just want to be treated like adults and while we may need some guidance from time to time, constant lectures are not appreciated.

Carole, I am so hoping your Dh is able to work with the pain specialist this Tues. and they can reach a mutual decision that is highly helpful. I had a friend quite some time ago now who had a neuralgia reaction after having a tooth pulled. The dentist told her she had a dry socket although it is something I never heard of before, nor have I since. She had a huge amt. of trouble with it. She was off work for some time and even when she came back she often had a wrap around her head while outside because the air tended to even make her face hurt. She got highly addicted to aspirin usage and finally ended up in the hosp. in a touchy situation. They were able to get her on her feet, but I never heard how it all resolved. Wish I had of as it might help you.

I don't blame you for being "focused", and thinking about your implants I likely would opt for replacement of both sides, or removal. I would feel some concern about the skin issues if removal only took place — and likely why my inclination would be towards replacement. In either case seems like you would not have to consider having to ever go through it another time. That is a good thing.

I do have from here a name or two with their addresses as well and it is a huge comfort to me. There are a number of ladies I feel quite comfy with and every once in awhile feel I'd like to explore ideas that don't quite fit here. To that end, if any of you feel the same, please feel free to pm me and I will get back with you. This has indeed been a great help when something goes wrong with our website and perhaps we can't even get on it. We have a resource to check if they might be aware of any issue. Thankfully doesn't happen to often though.

Petite, glad you sound well too. That is a pickle to have to wade through another yr. of joint tax issues. Thankfully, though as stated, you will be free of all the hang-ups and problems that come from those who have always maintained a joint situation for tax life. Dh and I always have done joint taxes. It was just better at the end of the tx yr. for us that way. Fortunately, it has now been a few yrs. since we even had to file. On social security we just don't bring in enough. Worked fine till the first yr. when we got the checks from the government. WE never got ours since we were no longer on the tax roles. When time had come and gone and others around us had their checks we went down to H&R Block. A nice lady there had a special form for people like us who didn't pay taxes any longer and she even had a special coupon, so we didn't have to pay much for her to fill out the form. The next check that came was in a time period where our form was still in effect so no problem.

Anyway, happy Friday to all. I hope not only the rest of the day, but everything after has lots of happiness and sunshine attached.

I have a great need for good news and it is still very elusive. I saw the surgeon today and will require wound vacuum for another 2 weeks or until nurse decides drainage is nil. Says wound is healing well but mentioned that I needed to contact PCP about leg edema. I wasn't able to wear normal shoes though I did manage to get a pair of sneakers on. I also am wearing regular compression stockings.

So reached out to PCP and she will order another 10-14 day Lasix and potassium twice a day trial. Seeing a cardiologist is in my future and that wasn't something I expected. She is concerned about the changes noted on my echocardiogram done while I was hospitalized. I am concerned that 3rd spacing and profound anemia took its toll on my heart and of course, no one wants to address that with me. I was so short of breath on New Year's Eve and that's when I had the dodo for a nurse who kept telling me my pulse ox results were normal and dismissed my respiratory distress. My hemoglobin was so low then that I had additional transfusions. While hemoglobin has risen, I am still in anemic range. So I am teary today and frustrated with my slow progress. I had surgery on 12/28, had my emergent episode on 12/29 and am still in recovery from that.

MM, glad your visit went so well and it is so nice to have a physician that you can relate to and trust.

Petite1, doing the taxes on my mother's estate was so challenging and made me want to drink especially having to file with the IRS a year after her death. You have been so stalwart through this process and I am happy that this will be the last year for extra IRS work for you.

Carole, sorry that your DH's jaw pain still persists. If he is resorting to heat or cold please remind him to stick to no more that 20 minutes on for either, to prevent rebound pain, which is even worse.

Cindyny: loved the photo's. I so miss being able to be out and about though we do not have your FL weather which I am envying.

Illinoislady, hope computer is back to you soon. My laptop is aging and while it keeps asking me if I want to switch to windows 11, I decline. Not willing to learn new changes quite yet.

DD and DSIL are coming over to help me get house cleaning under control. I am not able to do any heavy work quite yet and DH, bless his soul, is not detail oriented. He will clean what I tell him to do but that's becoming a full-time job if you get my drift. Dust doesn't register on his radar not do puffs of cat hair. DSIL likes to clean so I will just give him the tools and let him loose. My upright vacuum's rug beater is working intermittently so not sure if it is on its way out or a quick fix. Makes vacuuming a rug hard work.

Puffin, hope arm issue has resolved by now. Looking forward to more bird pictures and thanks for identifying the one posted by someone else. Beautiful and not native to here so I enjoy seeing what exists elsewhere.

Snow finally starting to melt due to rain last night. Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Betrayal, I am so sorry to hear your news. I can well imagine after two months and still having to be hard at work addressing items that for any other time would have been closer to a near completion, is mentally and physically exhausting.

I also feel concern about the heart issues. I was anemic for several months after my open-heart surgery and remain to this day with a low ejection fraction. At the time my mitral valve/heart surgeon felt I might end up fairly close to normal afterwards with a valve that operated as it should. Not so. For the first few months I kept gasping for breath and my PCP (sometimes where are heart Dr's when you need them) finally did the testing and got me on iron pills — which I think I took just about all that yr. to get caught up. My ejection is slightly improved but still too low for some medications and of course, surgery.

I hope and pray these things get ample attention for you as soon as possible. You got a slight boost from getting a would vac, but it is definitely time for you to feel upward movements toward sturdy wellness again. Some positive inspiration would be great medicine for you and I'm certainly going to pray that it comes soon.

In the meantime am glad your getting help with your housework. I know what you mean about men missing some of the finer and sometimes not so finer details. Hopefully that too will give you a bit of a boost not having to notice tufted fur or litter box granules on the floor etc.

You are in my thoughts very much since I recently had some of your issues myself so I can still easily recall feeling a bit hopeless and quite frustrated since I had a long recovery time that like you was at the onset un-expected. Many high hopes for healing and lots of supplications on your behalf. Hugs.

Betrayal: The arm issue has not resolved. Tuesday 2 doses of my Skyrizi are scheduled to be delivered by Fed Ex and Fri I go to the doctor to get my first injection, the second dose will be 28 days later and that dose I'll be injecting myself. I've been told not to expect much change for about 4 months after I start the injections.

Oh, it is so pretty out with a nice bright sun. It is afternoon though and only 38 degrees which is a lot cooler than it has been. That is how this time of year often occurs though so just have to wait for something better.

Puffin, sorry that your arm issues haven't changed much. I was surprised to hear it may take four months to see any result from your injections. Being somewhat of an impatient person over some things I'd be thinking it was not going to work. I hope you won't have to wait that long, but if it pans out to take care of the issue the wait will have been worth it.

Nothing much going on here for now. A very quiet Sat. I did check on my computer part and it is on the slow boat from China. Could come any time between now and March 6th. I was flabbergasted. In that length of time I'll have nearly forgotten how to use a computer. I do though trust Tony so I' doubtful that anyone else could do anything sooner.

I hope you all have a beautiful day and a happy, healthy week-end.

Compassion is the basis of all truthful relationship:  it means being present with love—for ourselves and for all life, including animals, fish, birds, and trees.  Compassion is bringing our deepest truth into our actions, no matter how much the world seems to resist, because that is ultimately what we have to give this world and one another.    -Ram Dass

Well, this is turning out better for me than when I fist sat down at Dh's computer. First, he changed out the keyboard from the Lenovo that came with his new computer to a Microsoft keyboard. As much as I've loved the Lenovo (actually an IBM product) computer I believe their keyboard just sucks. It has the @ key over by the ENTER key and nothing I did (even the fix given) would make it work as an @. I would just get the two ? hyphen marks that are there. Dh said he was not able to get it to work either. Then the capital key on the left was extremely awkward. Don't know who thought the design and placement was so good but after yrs. of using these things in other places on every keyboard I've ever used — I just wasn't happy.

Then I was able just now to delete over 7400 emails that had built up. I so thrilled about that. It was quite a task but went much faster than I thought. I did have to go into Spectrum mail which I don't use actually because I've never like any of our carrier's programs. I use a free Outlook program that Tony puts into my computer for me. It seems much more efficient. Also, I can delete large portions, by week or even month off the Outlook program. So, a good day going on here. Now onto my snack of crackers (only one side salted) and Swiss chess which is only 35 mgs. of salt for each slice. Hoping you are all well and having a good day.

It is gorgeous today with a shining sun and temp. of 64. I was worried about what we would have since rain seemed to rear up again, but we didn't get that much and for now it doesn't seem to have inspired much in the way od more inclement weather patterns.

I have been a bit lazy today since doing so much on the computer yesterday. Having had to delete so much I really thought about the number of entries I have programed to come in that I don't use ALL that much. Since I'm not use to Dh's machine (that is in fact a lot easier with the new keyboard) I'm not going to bother here, but when my computer is back I do believe that I'll be ending a number of subscriptions. Not the quotes, but some other items which I know do little for me on a daily basis. It will be a nice gift to myself.

I am hoping you are all well and having a beauty of a day wherever you are as well. If you have healing to do I hope that too is going well or that you are able to feel that it soon will be the case.

    See you all soon.

I read everything either last night if early morning and remember pretty much nothing.

Our house is finished up with the painting. Some touch up stuff around the door but that’s it. All lanai furniture and stuff on walls are back up - out of my house!

Guests didn’t show up. Turned out they were in an accident over by Miami. All are ok. It sounds like a truck towing a trailer, trailer got loose, truck kept going, but ADT van hit the trailer; they hit the van. they should be here tomorrow.

We got out to a local brewery event with food trucks and bands. It was beautiful out, but we ended up in the sun which was hot. I didn’t drink any beer, stuck with cold water provided by the venue.

My niece and her daughter were at my NY house for a few hours on Saturday. Just checking on everything, watering plants, and enjoying sitting in the sun of my bay window with the radiator cranked up. Today my camera goes off with motion, cars passing by - the camera is focused on my side gate, we’re on the corner lot. I listen to the recording and I hear a beep. Initial thought was it’s our answering machine. But in further review, it’s a smoke detector as the battery is dying indicator. The new ones don’t get batteries replaced, you turn it off and throw it away. It will just keep on indicating the battery is dying until the next visit. And even then, my niece had shoulder surgery, and may not be able to get it down. Oh well!

I’m hoping everyone’s health issues are on the upswing. And you had a decent weekend. Pinky promise I’ll take notes next time I read the posts.

Your Florida house must look really nice, Cindy. All freshly painted.

My pre-op appointment at the office of my PCP is this afternoon. I've been dusting and cleaning this morning in preparation for having three of my six siblings here at my house for noon dinner on Saturday. We so seldom have any company and the dusting and cleaning are definitely in order. Plus my younger brother who lives in OK will be staying with us for several days.

The Saturday dinner was supposed to include all six of us but two can't come. Life interfered.

I should get busy and finish up some chores. Hope everyone is having a good Monday.

Another gorgeous day here. Despite the fact it's quite windy, it is a tantalizing 74 degrees outside. As usual I have lots of catch-up work to do including paying bills which I'm almost through now. I so hope we can go w/o too much strange (snow or really cold) or negative weathers now till we are fully in Spring. I do note we are having our better temps. this month more at the end of the month which does put us that much closer to the springtime.

Cindy, I usually forget to take notes as well. Even more so since I'm still waiting on getting my own computer back. Thank goodness, Dh changed the keyboard on his computer. He was annoyed and highly irritated just as I was about the Lenovo board. I really have no idea why the changes I saw on it were made. They did not in my view make anything better at all. At any rate, I can type w/o having to 'peek' now and stop when trying to achieve certain key results. Even asking "how to" didn't solve it. I used the method given and it did nothing.

Sorry to hear about your guests and their accident. Glad no one seemed the worst for it. I do think people don't always check to make sure they have the right size and weight trailer hitch. I have no idea but guess hitches could become worn over time. We have never used any save for once or twice. I just know that they have to be adjusted for size and strength for what will be on the trailer.

Your Saturday sounds like it will be enjoyable Carole. Sorry not all can come, but spending time with family is almost always a pleasant experience. Having spent so much time trying to recover from health issues I've sure accumulated my share of dust. I keep some Endust around as it often works well in not spreading the deeper dust from one place to another. My furniture is not anything special but also a lot of people with antique or very fine pieces use Endust. It provides some moisture to help keep the dust on your cloth while removing from the furniture but doesn't leave 'oil' on or polish which is not desirable much on really good or old pieces.

We would love to put fresh paint in some of our rooms, but there is a long list of things that need done and I think wall washing for now is going to have to suffice. Back i n 2003 when we originally painted we used a color named Madonna white. It had a bit of cream color to it so not a white, white. Fine at the time, but after all these yrs. and so many decorating trends later it is boring as well as outdated.

We have a new smoke/carbon monoxide detector — laying in the kitchen. Dh rushes to replace things but falls down a bit at that point. I think I'll have to get my SIL in the spirit this week-end.

I hope it is a beautiful day for all of you just like we are having here and if possible you will continue on with that kind. I am sure hoping for more.

Jackie, I've been doing the same thing lately, unsubscribing from emails that come from stores that I've ordered one thing which put me on their mailing list - and they send emails almost every day.

Yesterday was 61 degrees, broke a record high since 1896. This morning it was 10 degrees and we were having a blizzard. My Skyrizi doses were due to be shipped by plane from Chicago last night so I was relieved when I checked the tracking # that the package was in Fargo being sorted and at 8:30 was out for delivery between 8:40 and 10:30. We have a fireplace in the lobby so I turned it on and sat and listened to a podcast on my phone while I waited and watched the front entry. I knew the package needed my signature and I didn't want to risk the carrier saying he'd tried to contact me and I didn't answer. It came at 10:15, and the temperature control card showed it had stayed within the safe temp range and was safe to use. So the 2 syringes are in my frig, and Friday I have an appointment to get my first shot.

Carole, I hope your appointment with your breast surgeon yesterday went well! Nice that your siblings are visiting!

Cindy, your house sounds nice, fresh paint always makes a place look great! I used to like painting but since my shoulders have been replaced, I can't reach to paint anymore, so we will need to call professionals to paint inside! I would like to paint the downstairs a light mint green, (Livingroom, dining room, kitchen), with white trim, moldings.

illinois, glad you are getting your computer issues solved. I hear you on the smoke detector, my DH is the same! Nice that your weather is good! It is warm here, going up to 60. My daffodils, tulips and other spring plants are up and forming blooms! Spring will be here soon………so will daylight savings time, ugh!

Today I am meeting a friend and former co-worker for coffee after she finishes work. She is like a sister to me and I can't wait to see her again! Tomorrow I am having lunch with another former co-worker who retired two weeks before I did. I am so glad to be back to a normal life where I can meet up with friends and get out and about!

Sandy, any purring in your house yet? I hope your diet is going well. I give you credit, I couldn't afford weight loss drugs.

I have been losing weight, but my goal is 4-5 pounds a month. So far I have lost about 5 pounds. It is a slow go, but as long as it is steady, I am happy. I should have significant weight loss by the time I have to see any of my doctors again. I will still refuse to get on the scale for any of the "fat shaming" doctors, my BS, PCP and PS. Have no intention on seeing my PS again, hope I don't need to see my PCP again for at least a year or so!

Betrayal, hope things are continuing to go well for you. Someday, all of this will just be a memory.

A few weeks ago we had high winds and a lot of trash from neighbors up the hill blew into our yard. Yesterday I gathered it all up and put it out for the trash pickup today. Good ridden!!!! Our next door neighbors up the hill must have a ton of money to burn or are in debt up to their eyeballs. Not sure which. They buy things, expensive items, and the next thing we know they are trashing them and buying new replacements. They even had an above ground pool, it lasted a year, it broke, and they just went out and bought a new one.

I think maybe we will get a dog/puppy after our trip to see our son and family. Not sure exactly when we will do that. I want to build up our savings and get the "junk" out of our house before I get a pup.

Shout out to Taco, Reader, Petite, Puffin, and anyone else I missed!

    Have a great day!

O my. It is another beauty of a day here. We had to run a couple of errands and it was 72 degrees on my car temp. gauge. It is quite accurate. We had windows open as we drove. Just amazing. It really is nice to get a magnificent preview of Spring in February. I love it. In the house here since sitting still can still seem a mite cool, I wear a light sweatshirt. Rain is likely coming and that would not at all be a surprise with the warm temps. and windy days we are having.

Puffin, good to hear your medication arrived and the temps. were maintained. I'm sure you are anxious to begin the process, even if slow, of getting this medical issue handled. Interesting that at least three or more of us have ended up with health interventions (needed) that slowed to a crawl when the healing was to begin. This last issue for me while slow was not near in the category of Betrayal's, nor what sounds like it could be awhile for you as well Puffin. I think my worst thing was not being better overall from the now sort of long-ago open-heart gig. I feel like this lung nodule cancer was tougher from that alone. We are all going to do fine, and I do agree —- the travails will diminish and be a memory, but the sting for now is un-pleasant.

We had neighbors who were somewhat careless with their trash. The city provides us all with big blue very ,very heavy plastic cans with lids. They have trucks with arms that pick up the cans and empty them. People gave us a couple of extra cans (we got lucky) but you can for a small fee purchase extra. Our neighbors didn't want that — so they continuously over-loaded the barrels. Trash blew down our Lane and many other places. In fact, the neighbors put so much in the cans that it actually split the super-duper tough plastic. Not easy to do so we got even more of other people's trash. I really liked the people but that was a huge annoyance. It is difficult enough at times to keep our two acres clean and free of tree limbs and other things that end up on the ground — so getting trash on the drive-way to deal with became a huge irritation.

So, MM, we are not only listening for purring from one house, we are going to start listening for little yips from yours. I think that is exciting. We are not as yet ready, but maybe after we really get into real Spring and if I can get a bit more of the tossing out and truckloads to share with Goodwill I will find the time to go on a real search. I got the first load of books to MaryAnn's and hoping to have a second ready soon.

I hope all have a good day and are feeling well. If not, I'm beseeching the Universe for all the helpers there on your behalf. Happy dreams of Spring.

Been lurking lately. Puffin, glad you finally received your Skyrizi and can start the regimen soon. Hopefully you will get the results you want.

Gray day here with expectation of rain. Temp was in the 60's so unseasonal this early. Buds are forming on the Japanese maple outside the bay window and I look forward to when they start to unfurl to reveal wisps of red leaves. Can see top tips of daffodils and hyacinths, too. Hope they don't come out before Easter. Last year they came out early and were gone quite quickly.

DH just took Regan to vet. She has a spot on her side that she keeps licking and it is almost hairless, bright pink and today there is a red spot the size of a pencil eraser at the one edge. DD says she is able to scratch that spot with her back paw though I haven't seen that. I just catch her licking it.

I decided today I was going to do some light housework like dusting and running the Swiffer dry mop. I got the foyer, dining room and family rooms dusted and the foyer dry mopped. I did the eat in area as well with the dry mop. DH went to grocery store and picked up some grocery items for future meals. I am still restricted with lifting so I have to watch what I am doing.

Dressing put on in surgeon's office caused wound vac to sound like a popcorn maker for the entire weekend. It was really loud and my VN even commented on it. When she puts dressing on it is well sealed and makes an occasional noise but barely perceptible. She will be back tomorrow for dressing change. Wound is decreasing in size but still have one area that has undermining which is a concern. Wound has to heal from the inside out to prevent issues and it is this tunnel which is delaying healing.

So for dinner tonight we are having a meatloaf which I have been craving for weeks but lacked the energy to make it. DH doesn't cook other than scrambled eggs so that's been a dietary issue. Too many takeout meals or frozen entrees. Will have scalloped potatoes and green beans as sides. Made 3 stuffed peppers since peppers DS purchased at Costco went bad quickly. I had to toss 2 other peppers because they had rotted. Disappointed that Costco would even have them available and not the quality they usually provide. So stuffed peppers are in oven and they will be tomorrow night's dinner. I got a head of cabbage and will make Unstuffed cabbage (rolls) casserole (tastes like stuffed cabbage rolls). Never learned to make them and they look labor intensive. MIL made them and hers were very good. It's a 2 pan recipe and I like those.

Back on Lasix trial for lower leg edema. So far results have been equivocal so not sure what is happening. I have been able to wear regular compression stockings but they get too tight by evening. This is day 4 of 14 days. Really tired now but dinner is in oven and I can sit until it is ready. DH can handle heating up green beans.

Hope everyone has a good day, that their medical issues resolve (Carol hope DH's jaw is less sore), and that we can continue to support one another. Shout out to Chris who has been MIA as well.
