I had lunch with two women friends today and then had my chest x-ray, EKG, and lab work done at an Outpatient Center. I was at the Center less than an hour. I will schedule the surgery as soon as possible to get it done and recover.

DH had his appointment with the pain specialist today and is scheduled for a procedure tomorrow morning. He will be sedated to get an injection in the jaw area. He also got two prescriptions. We're both hopeful that he will get relief. I have to go with him in the morning to drive home.

The rest of the day I need to do some vacuuming and mopping. It's just as well that the gym is closed tomorrow to install new equipment.

Betrayal, sounds like you're doing much better. Good for you.

Sorry for all of the discomfort you're experiencing with the edema and the wound healing, @betrayal. Hope the compression stockings feel more manageable as the days go by, and that the stubborn wound area begins to resolve soon.

MM, oh flowers blooming are the best. I think I’ll miss my NY flowers bloom. It happens with the early warm weather.

Puffin, glad your medication showed up on time and was safe too.

    Jackie, your weather sounds lovely.

Betrayal, you’re a trooper with this wound vac! Hoping Regan made out well at the vet.

Carole, fingers crossed that your DH’s procedure works, and provides him with relief.

Today we attended our first spring training baseball game. Beautiful weather, great seats - not in full sun the whole time. It ended tied 3-3, and was a pitchers game- we were out so early no sheriffs were set up to get us out of the parking lot - across a 3 lane highway.

Guests arrived while we were at the game. We all ended up at a neighbors back lanai eating pizza and wings. Best compliment from out guests was we’ve thought of everything. Hoping they get a good nights rest.

We were back at my house when I saw a little blip on my phone screen from Ticketmaster. It said something about a change to a concert ticket. I’ve got quite a few tickets booked out thru the summer so had to look at my “Apple Wallet” to find out which one.

Turns out it was the Adele concert in Las Vegas- that me & a gf were attending on 3/15… that we have airfare for - meeting in Chicago (from NY & FL) flying out to Vegas, with hotel reservations at the Flamingo. THAT concert has been “postponed” for Adele to rest her voice. It was upsetting, I felt shocked, and PO too. Just such a letdown.

Last night I almost booked tickets to the Vegas Neon Museum and to the Sphere. Thankfully I didn’t because I’d be cancelling them too!

Tickets - I will be giving my gf her money back; I paid for them both when they were ordered. Airfare - it’s South West so I’m assuming if no refund, I’ll at least get a credit to my account. Hotel, gf booked it when she booked her airfare and she’ll need to cancel it. It’s just taken the wind out of my sails

I have to laugh at myself - if you recall I had told my dentist that I needed the bridge in before I left for the Adele concert. HA! Jokes on me. I even booked a hair appointment to make sure my hair looked great for Vegas.

My gf is going to return the $130 pants and $79 blouse she purchased for the concert. I told her the sequin dress I bought for the concert can’t go back. I’ll wear it to my partners bday celebration this Friday. That’s it for sharing my misery. (and I truly know it isn’t misery, just dampened my spirits)

Who knows, they may reschedule Adele for a time that will work out for me. Or I’ll be able to sell the tickets and make a killing. One can hope.

Have a great Wednesday! Tuesday blew me away.

The little troubles and worries of life, so many of which we meet, may be as stumbling blocks in our way, or we may make them stepping-stones to a noble character and to Heaven.  Troubles are often the tools by which God fashions us for better things.

Well Cindy, the Adele concert is a total bummer. It would be nice to get another time that might work since Adele is a great performer. I'd be just as bummed out. I do hope you can recover the loss one way or the other.

We are going to be having much cooler weather today. It is about 28 degrees right now. Dh says the snow fall was cancelled. Whew, I had no idea the forecast called for it. Good to hear. Despite it happening at other times the very strong sun out makes me feel it really won't even think of snowing.

I have a few errands to run around town. Dh always wants me to go and drive. I don't think his truck is all that comfortable for him sometimes but he would never tell me that. For a number of yrs. I've had trouble getting in the truck. Just something about how it sets with the 4-wheel drive or something. I have to almost lift my leg in order to clear the door to get into the seat. It is awkward. I avoid the truck whenever I can and now Dh seems to avoid it somewhat as well.

I hope you are all going to have a great day. I may be back a bit later, as I need to go get breakfast started.

Weather today is still quite fickle. It is mid-afternoon and only managed to get to 37 degrees. That does though remove that 'ability' to snow. Got a quote today to have the inside of my car thoroughly cleaned. The man thought $45.00 would be good. We do get some pet hair off our clothing on the seats although it is not much. I just cannot do the windows or the polishing and cleaning inside any more than I'm able to do the outside. Despite the fact that my car is old, it still looks quite good and I still enjoy a pretty clean interior. I have a call in to a second place to get a quote from them as well. So, we will see. I figure I shouldn't need this done more than once every three or four months so the price then becomes less when adjusted for that.

Still waiting on that slow boat from China with my motherboard. Really frustrating, but I've managed some really good, if rather small inroads into things from a list I've had for some time. Hate to admit it, but the longer I have to wait, the more things on that list either come off entirely or are haggled down considerably.

It is nice that Dh is fine with my commandeering his computer a couple of times a day.

Just got one of those kinds of calls. Some cheeky lady who had a burial plan for me. She then asked how old I was. I said pretty old but I was still young enough to know to resist what she had to sell and bye. Other calls I generally answer by saying Hello — to whom do I have the pleasure of hanging up on today. Sometimes I just say, if this is a sales call buzz off right now.

I feel for some of the callers who likely are hard working and in need of an income of some sort, but long ago as well as now I've known perfectly well what I needed and pretty much where to get it. As you know, it is not just a call now and then. This can happen several times during the day as well as some evening hours. I actually feel that these people who do call really do need some sort of work because they likely have had the same experience at least somewhat and realize how their solicitations are going to be met.

Hope you are all fine and having a wonderful day.

Jackie, My DD says it's illegal to call a business, so she just says this is a business and waits for the click as they hang up.

Love the responses to nuisance callers. I do delight from frustrating them on occasion but am also aware that they may need this job. However, if I got one who told me she had a burial plan from me I think I would like to know what details she had in mind and whether or not they met my liking, LOL. Asking how old I am is treading on dangerous ground for someone I never met, just met me or when I feel it is a lead in to an insult.

Once had an Australian woman tell me I was cheeky because when we rejected her plan for us to change seats at a table so she could sit with her pals (they were late arrivals and we did not like the suggested change) so I suggested that there were other tables they could sit at and this did not meet with her approval, thus the "cheeky". I thought she was cheeky when she made the suggestion that benefited her but not us. Pardon me, we should be inconvenienced for you?

Wren, like what your daughter does and may give that a go. I am a business even if it is only being a household engineer now that I am retired.

Rainy and raw even with temperature in the high 50's. Misty just jumped from top of parakeet cage to table and scared me half to death when she skidded. Sheesh! Was straightening up some storage bins I have in eat in area to keep track of items I like to have accessible. I did toss quite a bit into the recycles bin and now have just the necessities in them. I can take my TENS machine back upstairs since I haven't used in months.

Just got the EOB for the supposed "care" I received in the ER when I had the wound drainage begin. The charges are outrageous considering care predominantly was administered by surgeon's PA's and not ER staff. I was given 3 Tylenol and charged $49 for that a 250 mL bag of IV fluids cost $585. The dressing they applied to my abdomen cost over $4200.00 and it only lasted 6 hours! Meanwhile it was nothing more than gauze pads, abdominal pads and tape. True their labor was probably in the cost but this is the second EOB I have received for ER care. True they do not get the posted charges but the adjusted rates from the insurance companies but the total charge for that visit (4 hours most spent in the hallway) was in excess of $8000.00. No wonder people cannot afford medical care if they lack insurance.

Have dinner prepared for tonight and will cook up ground beef needed for Unstuffed cabbage casserole for tomorrow. Sent DH to get a loaf of seeded rye bread to dip in the stuffed pepper sauce.

So my small "to-do" list for today is done and I can decide what I want to watch on TV tonight. It's the "Chicago" night so I may just watch them.

Carole, glad your surgery plans are in motion. Cindyny, now that your house is "new" hope you can enjoy time with your friends. Must feel good to have that crossed off your "to-do" list.

I have had paint samples (paper ones) from Sherwin Williams taped to dining room wall since prior to my surgery and still have no idea what color I want. DH wants to stay with same color but this would be the third time it would be painted that color and I feel the need for a change. I think the drapes are overpowering even though they are a multi-colored print with a gold background. I want to find a wall color that makes them less prominent rather than go to the expense of getting new custom drapes. I do like them, just feel they are somewhat aggressive.

Hope everyone has had a good day.

Hi, Ladies. Just stopping in to catch up. I have labs, Prolia injection and visit with MO for tomorrow. I will do that after Zumba. Tomorrow night I am going to a fundraiser auction. My ebay business donated some jewelry and it will be interesting to see how it goes.

Puffin, I am glad your meds came. Hopes it works quickly.

Jackie, It sounds like some pretty days up there. Almost like Florida weather.

Wrenn: SW only sells quarts as their smallest volume for samples and they are costly so I try to avoid that route. Wish they had 1/2 pint samples like other pain companies.

Minustwo: Here's the recipe. Recommended to cook cabbage for at least 3 minutes to soften prior to adding to casserole. Can also adjust amount of cabbage to taste. It is really good.

MM and Betrayal - so glad you are both doing better.

Our whole house needs updating but I can't get DH to even consider it. Paint is the least of it. Kitchen appliances are on their last legs and window treatment won't close. DH says we"ll do it when we want to sell it. I want to do it when we can enjoy it. No big travel this year so maybe I'll try again in the fall. We also are in total disagreement on what to do with the floors.

Sounds like crazy weather is coming for many of you. Be safe.

Betrayal, how did Reagan make out at the vet appointment? Sounded like a "hot spot," very common in dogs. I hope she got something to help her feel better.

Phone spam calls, simple solution, if you have a land line, either let answering machine pick up or get a phone that announces the caller. We still have a land line, one of these days we will get rid of it, but for now it announces all calls and name and number show up on the screen. We get a lot of "name unavailable" calls. We will pause, listen to who is calling and answer if we know the caller. Our cell phones only ring if it is someone on our list, otherwise it goes to voice mail where it is easily managed.

Cindy, watching spring training baseball games sound like so much fun! I am thankful for sports and can't wait for the return of baseball! Right now my DH and I are gearing up for March Madness! So happy that Caitlin Clark is bringing attention to women's basketball! My DD and family went to a game where she was playing. She is my little GD's hero, along with Taylor Swift, LOL.

Carole, glad to hear you are moving right along resolving you implant issues. When is your surgery? I hope the procedure your DH had worked well, and he is finally free of pain! Enoy your time with your siblings!

I had coffee Tue with my BFF and yesterday, lunch with a friend who also retired the same time I did. I feel recharged, it was so good to catch up with them! I found out that my BFF's little GD and my GD are in the same dance class and in fact have become BFF's! We had no idea! What are the odds?

Today I must get back to going through things we stored upstairs. We live on one floor but still have so much to get rid of upstairs. Then, during the summer, I can go through what we have downstairs. Thankfully we are very picky about any new purchases and only buy what we need. When I replace something now, I get rid of the old.

Sun is shining, cold, but listening to the news, national and world, I feel so thankful to have a less than thrilling, routine day! I am so very thankful to be able to spend the day de-cluttering, getting rid of things we no longer need, at a time when so many have lost everything they owned due to wildfires or war. Everything in perspective!

Wishing all here a wonderful day!

There are simple antidotes to complacency.  Gratitude is one of them.  Every morning we can take a few moments to appreciate all the goodness in our lives.  Another powerful antidote is taking the time to consciously contact our Higher Power.  God is always available to help us; we simply have to open the door.  Sharing hope with others is perhaps the most powerful of the antidotes because it helps at least two people—ourselves and the listener who hears our story.    -unattributed

It is a good day here as far as being sunny and bright. We do have a wind again. Sure seems like we have had a lot of windy days this yr. So, it is about 46 degrees, but it does sound like we will start getting up a bit higher again. We have iffy weather this time of year so I will not be planning on too much and hope for the best. We do have the service on our phone which shows who the caller is and announces it as well. What happens for us is that often some entity from offices we deal with may be using their own private phones for some reason so we end up taking calls from numbers or names we don't always recognize.

That is when I use whatever line comes to mind at the time. We at one time just automatically used the block caller feature — until we found out that we missed some important appts. due to the above of someone not using the 'business' phone all the time.

I too, hope Regan is fine and it did sound like hot spots which were are pretty standard for some breeds of dogs.

Having lunch or coffee with friends is always fantastic. I'm hoping that the weather gets really much nicer as a couple of my friends have talked about meeting at a restaurant. Lilo and her daughter have been friends of mine for a long time. Lilo was President of our local Humane Society for 30 years. She though now has heart issues as well as needing oxygen all the time. I've always wondered if her COPD is from her heart issues or from having cleaned litter boxes (large, large amt. over time in the animal shelters where she worked so long) and likely inhaled the litter dust on a daily basis.

MM, I'm with you on de-warehousing my house. Sometimes I walk into a room, spot something and can come up with a whole fantasy on why someone else might love to have what I'm no longer wanting. Like the new lg. crock-pot in my kitchen, never used. Why do I have it. I no longer even know. Its whole purpose for me has been in taking up space in my kitchen where something else could be that I actually use. Same for the big air fryer. It has sat in my kitchen even longer. So, I'm looking forward to one of these days getting organized enough to help those items exit the premises. Much of life here revolves around waiting for winters to get over or Spring wind and rain so that we can be comfortable dealing with donations and re-cycles.

Glad for all of you who do enjoy sports on tv. I never got into the habit although from time to time I will watch the St. Louis Cardinals. They are what is considered our local team. I'm not at all a 'regular' though by any stretch.

Well, I have a couple of errands — despite the colder outside. Hope you all have a wonderful day. Healthy quick healing to all. Hi to anyone not posting lately. You are thought about.

There is a rhythm in life, a certain beauty which operates by a variation of lights and shadows, happiness alternating with sorrow, content with discontent, distilling in this process of contrast a sense of satisfaction, of richness that can be captured and pinned down only by those who possess the gift of awareness.

It is chilly here this morning after last night's rain. Was dribbling a bit when I awoke this morning with a little bit of sleet in it. Thankfully, didn't last too long. A bit overcast, but not too dark. I'll likely try that cabbage recipe as well. Sounds like it is relatively easy and those are the 'keeper' type recipes for me. I do need to make an order to Heart Healthy Market to get some of their no salt tomato soup. They also have condensed chicken or mushroom as bases for other dishes. I'm out of all of it.

Nothing special on today and it doesn't seem like (its 'being Friday) that this is the week I'll get my computer back. Sure feels like forever. It was in fact, Feb 8th. when I took it in. If the part finally gets here next week would have it close to a month. Yikes, and I'm still around to gripe about having to go so long. Well, I will sure appreciate it when it does get back.

In the meantime, I'm still, if fairly slowly, getting things done that have been on a list here for some time. It does feel good to see progress happen and things repaired, changed or donated. Some things are just decisions about things that can be finished when the weather is adequate for several days in a row rather than the hit and miss we are seeing right now. All made a bit more possible because my computer decided to blow up. Well, there has to be something good about it.

Hope you are all fine and looking forward to the weekend. I may even go to Goodwill this weekend. We haven't gone for a couple of Sundays in a row now. Daughter Kate and hubby went last week and came home with a 1000-piece puzzle for us to work. We should be going more often now just to see if and when there are puzzles. Puzzles have gotten amazingly expensive. Many are extremely attractive now or have very un-usual shapes or subjects. Some are even made of wood. Still, after all the years of paying less than $5.00 a puzzle I'm not real happy having to pay more. We were shocked when we attempted to buy our first one from a store . Ollie's has a selection of less expensive ones which we will check out hopefully on one of our tripe to Marion since the only Ollie's we know of is so close to Marion. We have been there a couple times and always enjoy the visit.

Hope you all stay well or heal well and are able to enjoy all your activities whatever they may be.

I have a collection of varied sizes of cast iron frying pans. Some were inherited from my mother and some probably belonged to my grandmother. I use them for baking as well as frying though I do less frying these days. I make pineapple upside down cake in one of the larger ones because it carmelizes the brown sugar the best and keeps the cake moist. It is raining today and if I have the supplies I may just bake a cake. Can't lift the mixer yet so DH will be the gofer.

It is rainy with temps expected to hit the 50's but gray with a light breeze. The only color outside is the green of the evergreens , the lawn and the red headed woodpecker who was just at the bird feeder. Blah day.

Yesterday started unexpectedly at 2:30 AM when the wound vac alarmed and continued to alarm ever 20 minutes. I attempted to troubleshoot but would no sooner fix one issue, than another would develop to the point I know the manual by heart. At 4 AM I had enough and called the VN call line asking for help. Then had trouble answering my cell phone because it would not respond to my finger stroke so I was playing phone tag with the service. Finally got through and the VN showed up around 5 AM. They had to get her out of bed to answer the call. She put a temporary dressing on since my VN would be here for her regular visit in a few hours.

VN spoke to surgeon who wants wound vac on until next Friday when I see her, so I was hooked back up. So far it is behaving. Even being briefly untethered felt so good and I am looking forward to being free soon. It has been in place since 1/26 and I have had wound drainage issues dating back to 1/7, so I hope wound closure is soon because I was hoping to be free by now. I will most likely still have some type of dressing once the wound vac is discontinued since the wound will still need to close on the surface.

I am waffling about having knee surgery in June due to this experience. My knees are still painful, less so since I have not been very mobile but now that I am walking, they chime in, especially on steps. So need to weigh risk/benefit here. Still having edema of lower legs and need to get to the bottom of that as well. On diuretic trial but it is slow going.

Regan did have a "hot spot" and was given some cream for it. She is to wear a shirt to keep her from licking it but of course she manages to get out of each shirt we put on her. So we distract her for a time after application and hope that works. When she starts to lick, we correct her by making a distraction noise.

MM, Taco and petite1 nice to see you. Carole, I hope DH has gotten relief from his jaw pain. I think you and cindyny were going to be entertaining guests so I hope you have an enjoyable visit. Illinoislady, happy shopping at Goodwill. I love a bargain and my largest frying pan came from a discount market place in Myrtle Beach. It is so large the security guard at the door asked what I was going to use it for. I pointed to my DH and said "to keep him in line", he laughed so hard his face turned red. Needless to say I have only used it for cooking.

Hope everyone has a good day. Stay warm, dry and safe.

We returned home yesterday from our three week trip to South America. I woke up in Chile at 6am on Thursday (3am Chicago time) and arrived home at 1:30pm on Friday (Chicago time). After being awake for 36 hours, I slept for 13 hours straight last night. We are working on doing mountains of laundry today. I’ve been reading intermittently but have lost track of everyone’s situation.

Betrayal - glad to hear you are making progress but what an ordeal. I can certainly understand why you are questioning the knee surgery given what you have been through. I know you will evaluate the pros and cons and make the best decision for you.

Jackie - hope you are doing well and hope the new motherboard arrives very soon. I missed you.

Cindy - I’d be furious about the Adele concert cancellation, especially this close to the concert date.

MM - you sound wonderful! I do think the coming of Spring and warmer weather helps improve our outlook.

Our trip was amazing. We had great weather and loved the cruise ship. It was a nice mix of ports and sea days. Plenty to do on sea days with talks by excellent lecturers on the history, art and culture of the areas we visited. I’m going to try to attach a picture of the King Penguins we saw in the Falkland Islands.
    Have a great week!

I've been gone a while, but still return like a rubber band. Happy that everyone is getting better and no crises. My ankle/foot is working better, and I am walking now with very little pain. The ortho was right, walking on the outside of my foot should have been taken care of years ago. I tried, but got no response. It was not my knee that was causing the pain so much as my ankle. And that is what tore up my patella. Hopefully it will continue to improve and not need surgery. I have an appointment on the 11th with the podiatrist, and will find out then.

Also have an ENT visit because of my voice, and a sports medicine visit for arthritis in my left thumb.

I am going to be moving— in town. Can't take the social atmosphere here. Intolerable and unjustified, and I get no support from property manager.

Making eyeglass cases for a mission in Peru, as well as working on a major revision of my book. I sold my old trike and am soon going to be busy with putting my new one together. My brother has put together a list of the order in which things should be done. Should be easy???

Harley, did you go to Bluff Cove in the Falklands to see the King Penguins? That was one of our side trips and they had a lovely English tea room where 2 small desserts and a cuppa were offered as part of the fee. We had the lemon drizzle which we had had on a previous trip to the UK and a scone with the local Wild Diddle berry jam. Both were delicious. They had a wonderful gift shop and we had the privilege of meeting the owner of the cove. His told us his purpose in life was "to save the penguins" which is why he had purchased this area. Loved the Falklands and we had a very nice day that warmed up to the point we shed jackets and gloves. Lovely photo of the parents and chicks. Love how they can hide the chicks between their feet and under their belly overhang. Which cruise line did you use?

Chris, good to see you and it looks like you are "moving on up" and away from toxicity.

If I keep my eyes open, I see bugs and snakes and intricate
tiny flowers and cool rocks and nice smiles and beautiful
architecture and gentle kindness.  If I keep my heart young
I notice great places to play, nice sunsets, cool hideouts,
neat ice formations, and strange and unusual birds and animals.
Life is never ordinary.  We can make it seem ordinary
by closing our eyes and hearts to its wonder, but that's not
life's fault.  I prefer to notice the little things and then leave
them be--never trying to take them with me or preserve
them--because that's what life's supposed to be, and
that's what makes me happy and keeps away disappointment.

It is 60 degrees here and pretty out. The sun is not as bright as most days. Likely as we had fog this a.m. with come cloud cover. I'm glad some of the warmth has returned, but I don't count on it in this iffier. pre-Springtime.

Chris, good to see your entry again. Always wondering when a lot of time passes if all is okay. Very happy to hear the foot and ankle are behaving much better now and that pain issues seem to be far less intense for you. As you need to move this could only be a help for you. It is a shame, but count me as well glad that you will get out of the toxicity of un-gracious neighbors. Everyone is a bit different and often there will be things we don't agree on, but making neighbors 'suffer' is not something that should happen. I have a neighbor I don't get along with so to speak — they had a German Shepard that wanted to go after my cats, and we finally had to get the animal warden to insist the dog be kept in their yard, or big fines would accrue. I have no idea what the people really think, but we have been courteous and helped the son when he had some problems and his parents weren't home to help. Just meaning that you can tame a mountain in large part by not un-loading more dirt on top. If we see the people in their cars we wave. We have points of disagreement and we have set boundaries. I see little point in not being agreeable elsewise unless you give me more reason not too.

I too love the penguin picture. Noticed the 'smallest' chick right away. To me they are and always have been adorable and always seemed so loving and adorable to their chicks. Also, being in such large groups at once sharing space with each other. Their 'society' always looks to work out so well. Harley, I'm not surprised by your sleep marathon. I think I'd have done the same. It sounds like a very interesting and enjoyable South American adventure.

Betrayal, good to hear you finally got help with your wound vac alarm. Does sound like you are getting close to getting to give up the vac. It will be delicious freedom. June isn't all that far away so I can see feeling timid about the idea of more surgical interventions. I certainly would be as well. Especially with the edema issue still un-resolved. Hopefully, you will be able to distinguish with more clarity as you get healed and hopefully free of all the current problems.

I do hope everyone is having a lovely Saturday.

Taco, my dad sounds like your husband. He never wanted to update until something broke, use it up kind of attitude. My dad was born in 1916 so he was depression frugal, not over board but I know things should have been improved for his QOL.

Betrayal, the wound vac nightmare continues. I can’t blame you for enjoying the short time it was off.

Chris, it sounds like things are improving for you. The move might do you & Tippy well.

Jackie, my older car could use a good detailing. Smart to check around.

We still have guests, I think they might leave tomorrow. They’re easy guests but arrived 3 days later than planned and obviously staying longer too. I’m keying from bed, because once I’m up conversation takes over and I can’t get caught up with email, the forum, or anything else. Last night they gathered at a neighbors and we stayed home. I got to read multiple days of newspapers, do all the puzzles in them; watched my soap opera on DVR plus a few other shows. I felt good to be alone. Haha!

Plus we’ve been at spring training games; the play “Tina” - spectacular; had partners bday celebration dinner; went to an authors reading event at the library.

At the library event I saw Jeffrey Deaver speak, who if you’ve read any of his books (Lincoln Rhyme series; new show Tracker is based on his Colter Shaw series), the books aren’t humerus. But in person he was very funny. Great interaction and had us all laughing. I bought his 16th in the Rhyme series and had it autographed.

It’s been a busy week! Weather has warmed up. Some drizzle today. I’m getting up and dressed. My lazy Sunday is done. Enjoy the day!

    ps- loved the penguin pic!

We saw Tina in London and finding it was a fluke. We were going to shop in Covent Garden and walked past the theater. I had seen her live in a concert in Philly and always loved her music. On a whim we walked in to the box office and were able to get really good seats for that evening at very reasonable rates when compared to NYC charges. It was a wonderful show and the woman who played her had long legs just like Tina.

We have lucked out several times in London just finding plays by walking past the theater such as when we found The Starry Messenger with Matthew Broderick, and Bradley Cooper in Elephant Man as we walked around London. For the latter, we had just seen Phantom and saw the marquee across the street. We walked in and found we could get two returned tickets at a discount on the very last night of the show. He was superb and used no prosthetics.

On those occasions where we planned ahead, we were able to secure tickets for Jesus Christ Super Star, Warhorse, Les Miserables, and my all time favorite, Phantom of the Opera which I had seen 4 times stateside in Philly. Some of their theaters are in the round so there is not a bad seat to be had. Given that their theaters are in older buildings, the only negatives I have encountered are no air conditioning and very small ladies rooms with very long lines.

Sorry to hear you had a cancellation for Adele. That's another show I would love to see but not at the price for current tickets. Hope you can attend the rescheduled show in the future. Love her voice and songs.

We must work on our souls, enlarging and expanding them.  We do so by experiencing all of life-- the beauty and the joy as well as the grief and pain.  Soul work requires paying attention to life, to the laughter and the sorrow, the enlightening and the frightening, the inspiring and the silly.

Betrayal - we went to Volunteer Point in the Falklands. The highlight was the King Penguins, but there were also Gentoo and Magellanic penguins. It was a 2.5 hour drive each way from Stanley with most of it off road. Not a comfortable ride but definitely worth it. It was fascinating to watch the penguins. The English tea room at Bluff Cove sounds lovely - we had a not very good boxed lunch of a sandwich and chicken flavored potato chips.

Chris - nice to see you posting. A change of scenery sounds like a good idea for you and Tippy. Wishing you the best.

Cindy - you know how to have fun! Enjoy your guests and your peace and quiet when they depart.

It’s a sunny day in the 60’s here. Perhaps Spring is on the way?
