Deni, Purple and Viv,  Thank you for letting me know for sure.

I have in my hand a brand called Spectrum.  It says 100% mechanically expeller pressed naturally refined organic coconut oil.  Bottled in a facility that produces peanut oil.  Certified organic by Qai.  Distributed by Spectrum Organic Products, LLC .  A subsidiary of The Hain Celestial Group, Inc. Melville NY 11747  800-343-7833  www.spectrumorganics.com  Product of Columbia or Philippines.

It doesn't seem to have ANY coconut odor to me...does that make it questionable that it IS coconut? or is that okay?  I will ask my husband to see if it smells like coconut to him.  He has a sensitive nose (sometimes that can be a real cross to bear!)

Anyway, I can tell my brain is going because I bought this a while back but can't remember where so I will have trouble finding it again unless I got it in the organic section at Publix.  I must have read something on one of these threads to have bought it in the first place, but can't remember that either. I have been trying so hard to learn everything and now a lot of the research is becoming a jumbled up mess in my head and when I try to remember something, I get FILE NOT FOUND!

Thank you again for helping me out.  I knew I bought this for something!  I also know some use olive oil and I even read once that Sofia Loren used olive oil on her skin when she was young.  I haven't tried olive oil yet because I thought it would be greasier...maybe I will try it too and compare.  If coconut might help me lose some weight...well that's even better!  I'm trying to hunt down all the harbors of estrogen as naturally as I can.

OK... I'm going to need some help here.  I'm doing the best I can... What are the ingredients in the lotions that I should look for?  I'm reading "Breakthrough", will then start Dr. Lee's book, just had 9 vials of blood taken by a CNP who will work with me on supplements, etc.

Deb's sister wrote on the Where is FlaLady thread, that our dear FloridaLady passed away last night.

She wrote the very first response on this thread, and was a frequent contributor.

Her ability to combine the best of traditional medicine with the most promising natural agents meant that she truly used complimentary therapies.  She long outlived her prognosis many times over, and did so with a quality of life not often experienced by those given her very difficult IBC diagnosis.

We have missed her here, and will continue to do so.  We are lessened by the loss of her humor and wisdom.

I offer prayers and condolences for those she leaves behind.

Wow, thats a creepy article - esp the vinyl chloride part. The only way to control what you put in your mouth or on your body is to make it in your kitchen.

..I have to say something that is bothering me about what was stated regarding Avons contributions or lack there of along w/ the statement that it puts toxic chemicals into their products.  Avon is a huge company and has many brands, and just like Lauder, has market driven inexpensive brands (which unfortunately may contain some non-100%-natural ingredients).  Most think Aveda is it's own company when its just a brand under Lauder but Avon does not have th same luxury and gets judged as an entire entity. Note that all of these companies ingredients that are put into cosmetics are approved by the FDA and are GRAS (generally recognize as safe) and in most cases, ingestible.  Really. Now isn't THAT scary?

I would suggest that if everyone is angry at the lack of knowledge that all of these cosmetic companies have for ingredients that are hazardous and/or metabolize into carcinogens, please speak up to the companies because some (obv not all) will respond with better and more natural brands.  ... don't be surprised if the cheap ones are still in their line because ppl are buying them for their smell and could care less of their ingredients as long as they are cheap.

Regarding money being used for awareness.  Perhaps send the same PR document discussed for the march to notify companies that part of their funding should be used for prevention through natural awareness and smarter equipment (like thermography) including everything spoken up here.  Because really, I would guess that most companies have no idea.  I would also guess that big companies that support research, awareness and prevention to cancer driven disease would have a trained medical staff in their back pocket but doubtful that they have an ND on board .  ..but that would be great, wouldn't it?  If its a need, it will eventually become a trend.

I know Im yammering on and on but its because I love this forum and specifically this thread.  Ive gained so much knowledge here but I don't like how companies who actually spend a lot of money, research and devotion toward helping individuals get attacked because they aren't supporting what others specifically see fit.  I don't think its fair.

Please tell Florida Lady's family how much we cared about her. She was kind of the group mom to our online family. She was so big-hearted she even replied to the trolls. We will miss her.

Sending healing thoughts to her sister.

Oh no how sad. I think Florida Lady was here before me as I never had any contact with her or saw any of her postings. It is always sad when a sister is taken by this disease. I offer my sympathies to her family and will send healing thoughts.

I had been wondering about Florida Lady here recently. In her last few posts she said she was in a lot of pain. Yes, so very sad and yes she will be missed greatly. She was such a fighter. She is at peace now.

omg, I am so devastated by our loss of Flalady Deb!  She is such a powerful force of knowledge for us here in bc.org.  I will miss her deeply.

I haven't posted in many days because I've been working on a logo for the Sink the Pink!  I had NO idea that breast cancer awareness month was the brainchild of big pharma.  That really struck a chord with me and it spurred me into action.  Slow action, but action nonetheless.  It's still not finished, but with the passing of Flalady, I'm posting it halfbaked for review.

My photoshop skills are very dusty, and my poor camera is so worn out it's turning things pink like everything else in october.  Anyway, the Mention Prevention so far is supposed to be just black outlined letters on white.  I was debating what colors should be used and what about this ---  what if Mention Prevention was transposed on top of the image of someone's healthy thermography photo?  Aren't they very colorful?

Spring, you're a genius to come up such a great slogan.  And as much as I love the Sink the Pink, perhaps we could revise it to be Rethink the Pink.  I groan every time I see pink merchandise now.  Enough with the pink!   Meanwhile, we're losing heroes like FlaLady to this horrid disease here in the middle of October and every other day too.  I'd like to think we could think of the pink as a big wave we can ride rather than something to dismantle.  Like others have said, lots of good intentions are also associated with the pink.

    idea for mention prevention's logo

Althea-I am devastated by losing FlaLady too. She was so special and the reason we are even here. Before she kept fighting for us to be "allowed" to talk about alternatives, we were constantly harrassed. But she never backed down, even when they got so incredibly nasty to her. She was our heroine and mentor. I will miss her so much.

     God bless you dearest sister.

I am kind of liking rethink the Pink.

I **LOVE** "Rethink the pink!!!! It is a PERFECT sentiment...

Did you see on National News last night, the head of the Nat'l Cancer Society put into question the screening usefulness of both Mammograms and PSA tests? It is starting. Let's ride this wave! Vivre, this would be a good "jumping" point...

Althea, I like the Mention Prevention graphic, and how it suggests that a person is in there exercising. (or I am seeing something that is not there). Got me wondering if we should have a graphic symbol for each "category" of prevention. Exercise, low body fat, no pesticides, etc. Do we even have a list of what all the "prevention" categories are?

Spring, I saw that on fox news. I was so excited when I heard they were going to talk about screening. After we (dh) watched it we both said "it didn't give any answers as far as what to do". But, you are right it is getting the ball rolling!!!!!! I love the "Rethink the pink" also.

I need some help on finding margarine that does not have soy. I have looked high and I have looked low and cannot find it anywhere. I'm so tired of standing in the cold looking at the ingredients in all the margarine's. I have found Earth Balance but it has soy in it. Finding food with no soy has become a real job!!!! Thanks for any ideas.Laughing

Spring-all the ways that we can prevent cancer are going to be the purpose of my site. If I could just get the darn techy part going!  I have all kinds of info ready to go and pros ready to blog, but I cannot get the techinical part of a website. I am just not saavy with this stuff. But I am obsessed with spreading the word. I just got off the phone with a friend who's father just died of lung cancer. She knows what I went through and is now willing to take me seriously about all the things I have been telling her to do now, while she is still healthy. This is what we all need to do, teach our friends how to be proactive. We can start a movement, by pooling our talents and sharing our experiences that can really save others from going through all this crap.

I love the Rethink the Pink, and Mention Prevention and we can incorporate them into our mission. I guess I just have to have faith that the right person is going to finally come to my rescue and get this site up and running so we can all join forces and start the drive to stay alive!

BTW-my bud, LauraGTO is a graphic designer. Althea, do you want to brainstorm with her? She has a Tshirt machine and can make us Tshirts too. She is a whiz at those graphics programs and is going to some great stuff for our site, but like me, is not a techie. And we can put them on 100% natural fabric.

And the first thing I am going to do is to dedicate my site to dear Deb, AKA, Fla Lady. For me, she started it all. Her passion to help others was profound. I hope we can all continue her legacy.

    Together.

     We can make a difference.

Patty, earthbalance makes one w/o soy.  Whole Foods Carries it.  I haven't had it yet.

Expeller-pressed natural oil blend (palm fruit, canola, safflower and olive), water, contains less than 2% salt, sunflower lecithin, pea protein, natural flavor (derived from corn: no msg, no alcohol, no gluten), lactic acid (non-dairy source), naturally extracted annatto for color.

Love the slogan. Vivre, I am clueless when it comes to techy stuff :(

Doesn't "Rethink the Pink" sound very similar to "Think Before You Pink"?

The "Think Before You Pink" site is already  up and running - maybe you could save yourself some work by linking to it -    http://thinkbeforeyoupink.org/?page_id=13

Patty, you might want to try Ghee. It is clarified butter.

    http://www.purityfarms.com/

Here is some nutrition info I found about it: "Ghee is in fact a form of clarified butter. If you've eaten lobster or crab before, you may be more familiar with the term "drawn butter", which is essentially the same thing, although often many people will simply melt some butter and call it drawn butter. The process of clarifying butter is a bit more complex. The butter is melted and simmered (this process is also called "rendered") in a pot or large saucepan until three layers form: a foamy, watery layer, which is skimmed off, a solid butter layer, and a milk solids layer. The separated butter is the clarified butter, a liquid mass of rich, golden butterfat.

Chefs often use clarified butter because it will not burn during frying (this is known as a high smoking point), and possesses a more buttery flavor. The longer the melted butter cooks, the more intense the resulting flavor of the clarified butter will be.

Ghee lacks hydrogenated oils and is a popular choice for health-conscious cooks as well. Additionally, since all the milk proteins have been removed during the clarifying process, ghee gains further nutritional value because it's lactose free, making it a safer alternative for those who are lactose intolerant."

It tastes really good and better for cholestorel levels than butter or margarine.

    Good work, Althea.

I like Rethink the Pink too. It has a questioning tone, challenging the whole pink "awareness" idea.

"Think before you pink" doesn't offer a new gung-ho prevention strategy. It just wants to make us more educated about what pink crap we buy.

And yes, spring, we do need to outline what we mean by "take action for prevention."

On the margarine-I do not use it at all anymore. Use real, organic butter. It is safe. All margarines are hydrogenated oils, which are not healthy in any form.

I have written a Rethink the Pink message for all my email contacts. If anyone wants to use it, pm me an email and I will send it to you. I do not want to post it here.
