She said feel free to call her @ 800-962-8873 ext. 5361. She also said they have made a new dim with calcium d-glucarate and some other good stuff so make sure you ask her about that too. With regards to Palm Oil, this was posted on another thread just below this one called "tocotrienols"
About ten years ago, tocotrienols from palm oil was first identified as a potentially novel anti-cancer component. They possess the ability to reduce cancer cell proliferation and cause cell death through stimulating the killing of cancer cells selectively by programmed cell death (apoptosis), while leaving normal cells unaffected [Kline & Sanders, J Nutr 131:161S-163S (2001); McIntyre et al, Exp Biol Med, 224:292:301 (2000)].
However, tocopherols or alpha-tocopherol (the form of vitamin E used in most commercial preparations) has little or no protective effect against cancer cells. Interestingly, tocotrienols [as pure forms or as components in palm tocotrienol complex ( Palm Tocotrienol Rich Fraction / TRF) are very effective against both estrogen receptor-positive (estrogen responsive) and estrogen receptor-negative (estrogen nonrepsonsive) human breast cancer cells [Guthrie et al, J Nutr 127:544S-548S (1997); Nesaretnam et al, Lipids 22:461-469 (1998); Nesaretnam et al, Int J Food Sci Nutr 51:S95-S103 (2000); Yu et al, Nutr Cancer, 33:26-32 (1999)].
Since then, scientists have carried out detailed pharmacological studies on the anti-proliferative and apoptotic effects of tocotrienols on breast cancer cells and have generated a significant number of scientific papers published in reputed journals [e.g. Mizushina et al, Biochem Biophys Res Commun 339:949-955 (2005); Nesaretnam et al, Ann N Y Acad Sci 1031:143-157 (2004); Takahashi & Loo, Biochem Pharmacol 67:315-324 (2004)].
When reviewing all the published results, it is evident that palm TRF, and not the alpha-tocopherol, confers a protective effect against breast cancer. Besides in-vitro studies, similar positive results were obtained in animal studies (in vivo) [McIntyre et al, Exp Biol Med 224:292:301 (2000)]. These findings were further supported by mechanistic studies on the anti-proliferative and apoptotic properties of tocotrienols/TRF on breast cancer cells [Nakagawa et al, Biofactors 21:5-10 (2004); Shah et al, Exp Biol Med 229:745-755 (2004); Sylvester et al, Asia Pac J Clin Nutr 14:366-373 (2005); Takahashi & Loo, Biochem Pharmacol 67:315-324(2004)].The strong inhibitory effect (anti-angiogenesis) of Palm TRF on breast cancer cell growth and proliferation could explain why they inhibit tumorigenesis [Mizushina et al, Biochem Biophys Res Commun 339:949-955 (2005); Nakagawa et al, Biofactors 21:5-10 (2004)]. In other words, Palm TRF could be used as a safe dietary means to prevent a cancer from becoming metastitic. [Please note that it is the palm oil tocotrienol complex, and not rice bran tocotrienols, that have primarily demonstrated these anticancer effects]
In another study, it is encouraging to know that tocotrienols possess similar cell inhibitory properties as tamoxifen (a commercial anti-breast cancer drug). Furthermore, tocotrienols in combination
with tamoxifen were found to possess more inhibitory effect than either compound alone in estrogen-responsive and -nonresponsive breast cancer cells [Guthrie et al, J Nutr 127:544S-548S (1997); Nesaretnam et al, Int J Food Sci Nutr 51:S95-S103 (2000)]. The authors pointed out that the synergism between tamoxifen and palm tocotrienol complex may allow for the use of lower doses of tamoxifen, and reduce its risk of adverse side effects. Tocotrienols could be a good means as complement to the chemotherapy of breast cancer.
The dosage of tocotrienols for general health and disease prevention is recommended to be 50 mg per day and may increase to 100 mg per day if necessary. However, for best result on treatment, the dosage is suggested to be around 200 mg per day for therapeutic. As with any illness / disease, it is best for your customer to also consult her doctor for approval / supervision (since she is a breast cancer patient).
Re : Stage-One Breast Cancer Clinical Trial in Malaysia
This study with stage-one breast cancer patients was conducted in collaboration between Carotech (http://www.carotech.net/) and the Malaysia Palm Oil Board with various hospitals in Malaysia. It was a 5-year study and the patients were given Carotech's Tocomin SupraBioâ natural full spectrum palm tocotrienol complex soft gel capsules. The initial results showed interesting and positive results - in term of survival rate, recurrence rate and the up-regulating of a few other major immune biomarkers - that overall led to the increase in survival and recurrence rate.
Re : Where to Purchase ?
Tocomin SupraBio soft gel capsules can be purchased from the following :-
i) VITACOST's TOCOMIN SUPRABIO - http://www.vitacost.com/NSI-Tocomin-SupraBio-Palm-Tocotrienol-Complex. You can purchase this product from the website (Tel : 1 800 381 0759).

From "Sick of Pink" (on p.3)
http://www.boston.com/bostonglobe/magazine/articles/2009/10/04/sick_of_pink/?page=1
....Such misuse and hoop-jumping infuriates Jeanne Sather, a Seattle woman battling metastatic breast cancer and known throughout the cancer community for her fight against the pink ribbon and Breast Cancer Awareness Month. She will send a "Boycott October" button to anyone who asks. Her blog,
assertivepatient.com (The Assertive Cancer Patient - Living with Cancer, and an Attitude).
features what she considers the most egregious, tasteless examples of pink-ribbon products -- including Jingle Jugs, plastic breasts mounted taxidermy-style on wood that move and play music; sales of a "breast cancer awareness" edition of the Jugs resulted in a $50,000 donation to Komen.
"For those of us with breast cancer, it's like getting hit in the face," says Sather. "The companies are making money off my disease -- even if they're giving an amount to charity, they're making so much more in profit."

We have a great made-for-TV controversy here. Why doesn't somebody pitch the Sink the Pink Rebellion to the talk shows? (That would be one way to get that balloon boy story off the TV.)
Is anybody on the Natural Girls group media savvy?
Remember we had a news producer on this thread from Los Angeles? She gave us a link to her station. We could have Tony Isaacs, the author if the investigative article, Breast Cancer Deception Month, and Fairy in LA? Vivre in Chicago?
Ideas?

Well I am going to be in Oprah's neighborhood in a couple of weeks with my students. Should I dress them all up in Tshirts and hang out in front? LOL
I am thinking about doing my Wellness Weekend in Feb. It will take a while to get it going. I know it is cold in Feb. but it sure would get a lot of attention then. I have a card of a local reporter, so I have a start of a connection. There are so many walks when it is warm out. But this one would get so much more attention if brave women were braving the elements get out their message. Also, we have the whole Valentine theme to tie in.
Do something for someone you love. Help them to learn how to prevent cancer.
Since my site is called preventcanswers, it is about preventing ALL cancer since many of the causes go back to the same problems with our environment, stress, inbalances, etc. Besides not much attention is given, and not much support exists for people with other kinds of cancers. They do not have the kind of forum like this where they can learn from each other.
Last winter, I joined hundreds of others in the first national tea party in Chicago. Remember when that guy had his rant at the Chicago Board of Trade? It all started there, ironically right in Obama's home town. It was Feb. It was cold. It got little press, but the movement grew. I know in my heart that this movement will take off like wildfire. I know that once we get the word out that women need to be aware of the junk in their "beauty" products, learn how to understand their crazy hormones, learn about the need for essential minerals such as iodine and magnesium, etc, etc. the rates of breast cancer, and all cancers will plummet. As I said, the Komen thing started with just a couple of sisters. Ours is starting with a lot more. Plus, I will try my darndest not to make it a big money making machine for the "cure" but to go for treatments and prevention. I would love to see young women get scholarships to study hormone therapy. I do not want women to have to pay to walk. Especially survivors. It will not be about raising money. It will be about educating people. Especially DOCTORS!
Yeah, I know, I am a big dreamer. It has always been what keeps me going.

Apologies, Springtime, I made an oops about whose slogan that was....
you certainly struck a cord with those of us here- what a great brainstorm.
This could go down in history as the great pink revolt.
Capitalism - great movie. We found it especially ironic to be seeing it with the free movie tickets my dh's greedy employer gave out in lieu of raises this year..(as meanwhile they are raking in record profits...) Jesus had the best lines in the film, IMO.

Vivre, Prevent "canswers" is very clever!

Anom and everyone! I have talked a few times on the phone to the news producer that posted on these threads, I have her email and phone number, I am going to give it a whirl! Plus, I have been on a few TV shows for weddings here in CA, so have a few connections, I also wrote to Glamour magazine last month, berating them a tad, over their "ways to prevent breast cancer" article, and they actually wrote back!
I will keep you all posted!!

I am using a natural antiviral supplement called Gene-Eden. I started using it during my chemo to increase my white cell count, which were very low. It was so successful that my white cell count returned to normal levels during the chemo treatment! I still use it today.

Fairy, great news! I'm so glad you are used to messaging the media.
The public must know that not only does BCAM promote business interests that are not healthy for women, but BCAM promotes a "disinformation campaign."
Many factual errors are promoted such as the benefits of regular mammograms.
BCAM does more harm than good. It doesn't help to promote "awareness" of breast cancer if they shine the light on procededures that have been proven not to benefit survival from breast cancer-- and may make it worse. Even the National Breast Cancer Coalition questions whether routine screening mammography is beneficial.
As long as GE is making mammo machines they have to make money whether they hurt women or not.

Patty, I so can't believe the flippin newspaper was PINK!! what are people thinking!! PINK ghosts!!!!???? are people serious!! I am honestly mortified! Its like a joke now, its ridiculous! when I was dx'd last year on Sept 22nd, when Oct hit, of course all the pink crap started, I remember being in Target and all of the appliances were pink, toasters, coffee machines, spatulas, you name it, right then I knew we were in trouble.........

Flat Tuesday - that is great! You know all of this pink crap is like preconditioning for people who are yet to get breast cancer. If and when their unfortunate time comes, they will be so conditioned to follow the pink that the pharma companies will have them right in their hands. Not so subliminal advertising.

I really didn't know there was this much pinking. It's almost a conspiracy. Pink ghosts and toilet paper?
Somebody once told me the media is always looking for new "angles" on the October pinking of America. Sink Pink is a real angle!

I met a chef today from the culinary school in Chicago. He is willing to do some cooking classes for us and make breakfast for the morning of our walk. His parents both died of cancer so he is gung ho to help us. Flat Tuesday in Chicago Here we come! The best news is that since we will be wearing coats, no one will understand what we are talking about. Maybe we will have to do scarves or headbands instead of Tshirts. Next week I will start working out hotel deals. Since it is off season, we should get some great rates.

Heck, vivre I thought you would put all of us up at your house . Then at least we could show each other our scars. Do you live right in Chicago????

On another note, thanks to all who responded with suggestions about my sister-in-law who didn't plan to have surgery for her ILC. A week later, she has decided (after consulting with a number of friends who are nurses) to have the surgery. She is also still taking Arimedex. She'll do dietary and use other alternative methods after the surgery, not including going to Mexico, which turned out to be very expensive and required a person to be with her full-time there, and then to support her in making juices and other foods when she came back. We are relieved and hope for the best in her treatment.

Northstar, glad you are relieved about your sister-in-laws situation. Sometimes one needs to look at every aspect of the picture before they can make a decision they feel comfortable with. It sounds like this is what she did. I wish her the best in her recovery and will send lots of positive thoughts to her. Keep us updated on her progress!

Great story, Meg. I choked up reading it. It's hard to be critical of pink when a company or an individual's heart is in the right place. Like the NFL in pink shoes and other gear. DH and I had different immediate reactions to that one, but obviously their hearts (or their wives' hearts) are in the right place. I'm just happy to see an undercurrent of intellligent criticism this year for those who latch onto awareness as a marketing tool.
And, Northstar -- so glad your SIL decided to listen to everyone's counsel on the surgery. Be sure to let us know when it is, so that we can pray for her and her surgeon. Have you introduced her to BCO yet?
Hope everyone's having a relaxing weekend. Deanna

Hi Everyone,
I know there is an old thread about this....but it has not been updated since 2008.
I need to buy a juicer....any suggestions. One book I bought suggested the Champion one. I want one that's easy to use and will keep most of the pulp. I also read something about oxygenation.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, Deanna,
She is going to have the surgery the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, so that she has a few days to recover and won't have to take more than 2 days off (she just started a new job). I do appreciate your prayers and thoughts for her. And yes, after I told her about BCO last week, she told me she had been on it "a lot" and I'm sure it had an effect on her decision. I told her about the discussion boards, too, but not sure if she's tried that yet.

About all this pink. I have also been thinking that maybe for my own peace of mind I need an attitude of coexist along with where my heart is - PREVENTION. The people who are sincere - as you said Ivory... it is hard.
There is a lot of eduction that needs to go on, and it will take time. Sometimes it all just makes me feel so tired!!!!
0 -
IvoryMeg, These pink promoting individuals mean well. That's what is so frustrating. I saw a man buying breast cancer awareness stamps in the post office. I kept my mouth shut
Like Spring said, there is so much education to do, it is tiring. But spreading the word on Facebook or other internet avenues is a way of getting our message to go viral. It will happen. We are building the Sink Pink Awareness campaign.
There is a "breast cancer industrial complex" exploiting the generosity and compassion of an uninformed population. If we expose it, people will catch on. It's not impossible, it's only a challenge.
