SHERRYC:  I am sorry the Tamox put you into early menopause-chemo  did the same thing for me.  I have a high rate of heart disease on both sides, too, so I would avoid taking any testosterone.  I hear the side effects are awful.  I hope everything works out for you and you can gain some balance.

Thank you girls for your input. I am more excited about seeing my naturopath on Wednesday than I am about seeing my onc on Monday. Perhaps that is because the naturopath is of my own choosing and represents my taking control of my treatment. I am very, very frightened still, but after making the decision to take control, I actually feel more hopeful. Is that denial? I think not as I have continually beat the odds in my life both personally and career wise. I do find the stats for survival with lung mets frightening, but I remind myself that stats can be interpreted in many ways and at the end of the day, people DO survive this! I would love to know more about how those people did it! My husband "knows" I can do this and says he will kill me if I don't! Once again thank you, and to Fighter.....I promise I will not let the doom Sayers get me down!

AnniN:  Has anyone told you about the book: Anti Cancer a New Way of Life?  I highly recommend this to help you through your treatment and to help give you the best possible outcome.  It was written by a dr. who beat the odds twice with brain cancer.  Hugs!

Was watching Dr Oz the other day and he talked about umckaloabo being great to fight of the flu.

Umckaloabo is incredibly effective in relieving cold symptoms and a new study shows that Umckaloabo helps the flu. Umckaloabo therapy has been used around the world for some time now. Take Umckaloabo 30 MG 3 times daily

Did a little search on the internet and seems to be good stuff.  Might get some the next time I head to the health food store just to have on hand.   Has anyone else heard or used this before?

Hi ladies.  Pink October is upon us once again.  All of us here know how much our diet and lifestyle DOES matter.  I'd be honored if my fellow natural girls participate in spreading this message.  I created a design last year that's available at http://www.cafepress.com/rethinkthepink

    Rethink the Pink!

edit:  tried to post an image link.  Three different locations and not one of them worked.  :(

Definitely check out vivre's Think beyond the Pink weekend coming up soon.  Also, I think a lot of people are shocked to know that less than 1% of research dollars are funnelled toward metstatic disease.  Or, that pink October is NOT the brainchild of the Susan Komen Foundation, but rather big pharma --- Novartis if I recall correctly (definitely need a fact check on that one).

Haven't had time to check in much lately, but sure was good timing today.

Hi Fairy! You will represent us so beautifully. I sure wish the Think Beyond the Pink would take off here. I was on the phone today with the Chicago Tribune complaining about how they continue to glorify the pink movement, but do not listen to the other side and won't print my press releases for Think Beyond the Pink. We have some amazing people coming to speak but it is pulling teeth to get  the media to take it seriously. Meanwhile I was livid that they were all gushing about all the money they are raising for the cure! My charity is going to our community to help young adults with autism, another group that has been lied to. My sister in law is fighting with her school district because her son cannot attend prom because of his autism. This is so appalling. Why are we sending money to some company to tell promote awareness. We are all pretty well aware that breast cancer exists. DAMN IT! Keep the $$$ local. Give it to our kids.

Hal Huggins is coming to my TBTP event and he will be talking about the links to breast cancer, autism and toxic teeth. Stephanie Buist of the iodine group will be speaking about Iodine for Health. Two dear doctor friends will be talking about thermography. Women's lives will be saved by listening to these speakers. But they continue to be brainwashed into believing that they can walk for a cure.

Sorry for the rant, but it has been a maddening day. The weather is so beautiful. The sky is blue, I rode my bike through the golden fields of our forest preserves today and then I look around at all those garish pink ribbons and I just see red!

Enough is enough! THINK BEYOND THE PINK!  Breast cancer is preventable. Put some money into teaching younger women how. Give free thermographs. Pay to help us get all these damn mercury out of our mouths that is making us toxic. It is costing me thousands and I am only half way there. What about all the women who cannot pay to remove this poison at all. Why not pay for that!

    Okay, off my soap box.

Bet you are sorry you asked.

Fairy-  Good for you to get the word out!  Komen's commissioning a perfume full of toxic, banned chemicals is a demonstration of the pink movement insanity.

Pinkwashing has reached a new low this year with "Promise Me," a perfume commissioned by the giant of the breast cancer movement, Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Promise Me contains chemicals not listed in the ingredients that: (a) are regulated as toxic and hazardous, (b) have not been adequately eval... Folks, I am not all natural but I thought I should ask you about your thoughts on my treatment - I have just had my first AC chemo and it didn't seem too bad initially. I am on 3 tablets of spirulina and 4 vials of phycocyanin powder (which is an extract from spirulina and is the anti-oxidant of spirulina) daily. In addition to this dosage, I also take nutritional suppliments from my naturopath in IV form. These are mostly vitamins and minerals. I also take two scoops of Perfect Food supplements daily. My chemo seemed to be going well till I got a fever in the 3rd week. It was due to some infection I got because my blood counts dropped to 600 cells/ccmm which scared my onco. He admitted me for a day in the hospital and brought my counts to 2400 after which I was discharged. Would any of you be able to let me know your thoughts. Thanks in advance.

Hi ladies, got some bad news tonight.  My brother has prostate cancer.  So bummed.

curlym, you sound a lot  more natural than you give yourself credit for.  When I went through chemo, I was a person who never wanted to be a pill taker, and than included supplements.  I didn't take any supplements at all til later, and now I have so many I would need multiple pill organizers just to hold them all.  I have no idea what is typical in India, but the first thing that comes to mind is vitamin c.  Intravenous vitamin C treatments is what I would suggest you read about.

I wasn't a candidate for BRCA testing, even though my mom and her mom both had bc.  He's planning to go to Sloan Kettering.  I hope it'll be a good choice.  They say they have integrative medicine there, but I worry that it's more of a conveyor belt.

althea:  So sorry to hear about your brother.

I just watched this documentary and it sure gave me pause:  http://www.forksoverknives.com/

It talks alot about Dr. Campbell's work and others who are anti meat and dairy.  Anyone else see this?  I would love to get some feedback.

It must be very popular right now...I ordered from my Netflix and was supposed to get it this week, but another movie was substituted as it wasn't available.  I have a friend who completely put her auto immune disease (MG) in remission by going on a vegan diet and practicing meditation, yoga, and tai chi.  She looks like she did 20 years ago.

Now that I am faced with a bc challenge, I am reading everything I can about nutrition and the role it plays in preventing bc and also preventing a recurrance.  I wouldn't consider any form of standard treatment without getting my diet and supplementation in place first.

    Hello,

Loving in Tucson, Az at this time and no longer in Illinois!! I recently had some blood work done and though I am not satisfied with this new Dr at all, the blood work results has confirmed I am pre diabetic and cholestral is high . I am under weight, diet is ok BUT have some work to do and realize that now. I excercise daily and have imorived my stress level so much since moving West. Yoga is so awesome for me and love it out here.

The findings for me is, women who have had higher insulin levels versus those with lower levels are twice as likely to develop breast cancer. High levels of insulin like growth factor-1GF-1 is also associated with a higher risk as it stimulates cell growth and inhibits cell death. Women with invasive breast cancer are more liley to have poorer outcomes if their cells show a lot of insulin and IGF -1 activity.

I have work to do and know i have to control this insulin level issue. My vitamin D level is 55 and has increased actually. I wanted to pass this info out for others IF they feel getting sugar out of us is not impt!!!What I thought was enouhg fo rme, cause I was underwieight could get a way with an occassional dessert etc was ok!!!! I am listening now ladies here and know how much of this topic has been conversed here in!!!

I am on bio identicals given by Dr.Rashid (vivre's Dr . connection). and of course the conversation with this last DR was a major blow out and just know that this move is not always understood, for me, it is the balance I need and thrive with.

Thanks for listening and hope it may shed light for someone who may have not the greatest diet ot think it is not imprt!!!!I am only two years from my BC  jounrey and recurrence is always there in possiblity. I am just grateful to know I have a chance to further improve and balance my endocrine system before it is too late!!!!

I am wondering if anyone out there who has gone the Chinese medicine route has taken Jia Wei Xiao Yao San? If so, what were the results? I think it is given for breast cysts. Probably isn't for cancer, but am still curious if anyone has tried this. I am really fascinated with TCM these days.

Also, I finally got to see "Forks over Knives" yesterday. Very compelling movie. I love meat and dairy, but this might get me to at least cut down what I'm eating quite a bit and get back on the veggie/fruit regiment! "Forks over Knives" is now on Netflix, by the way.

Hi ladies, there's one blog that I keep up with at renegadehealth.com.  They have put together an online event that starts on Tuesday 10/25.  They're calling it the Healing Cancer World Summit.  Each day of the summit will include an audio that's free to listen to anytime during each 24-hour window.  Recordings are for sale, of course, but I'll just be listening for free.  Plus, they're having a free drawing for 5 lucky people to get free copies of the recordings.  All you have to do is write a paragraph.  Winners are chosen by choosing 5 entries randomly.  Thought y'all might want to know about this one.

Do you happen to be one of the affiliates who gets a commission from marketing this "Healing Cancer World Summit?"

I just went on the site and registered for the event.  The first two speakers I have heard before so will skip those and wait until later in the week.  Promises to be interesting, but Dr. Gonzales was taking a little too long to get to the point of his interview...how he teats cancer through alternative methods.

Has to pick up the pace if he wants to keep my interest, and I'm not even ADD!

Kaara, I was thinking the same thing about Dr. G (lol). Kelly's protocol makes sense, individualized diet and supplements, detoxification. He spoke too fast.  I have to research pancreatic enzymes more. Very good presentation though. Let's here what Charlotte has to add about the Gerson therapy.

princess123:  The two doctors that spoke last evening were excellent!  I missed them last night because we were out for the evening, but caught the lectures early this morning.  Great info about how to support your body if you are going to opt for conventional therapy.  The statistics were interesting as well, because they were compared with results from NCI.  It's just common sense to me that diet and supplements, taken in the right combinations will help to halt tumor growth.

Wait what?!! I don't understand why you weren't a candidate for BRAC testing. I am 46 and got BC this summer. My brother is 52 and got kidney cancer this summer. The genetics doctors at Georgetown Uni Hospital have been going absolutely nuts testing me for every darned gene under the sun because they can't believe we don't have a gene. Not that I want you to have the gene but i don't understand this "candidate" business someone told you? Best, Hedenia
