The iodine protocol involves taking Lugols iodine or iodoral which is a tablet. The protocol must be taken with the companion nutrients of vit C, b's, magnesium, selenium and "salt loading ". Just taking a couple of drops or painting in on will not amount to much. The best way to start is by getting dr. Brownsteins Iodine and Thyroid books. Read the books, then let me know if you have any questions.

Truebff, yes, I'm using the pectin, chorella and iodine transdermally for now because I don't know exactly where I stand with my thyroid. Iodine is NOT recommended if one is on the hyperthyroid side.

Thanks again Althea, that movie was excellent !

Kaara,I am understanding now, oatmeal is ok but a bag of oatmeal cookies is not cause it is not low carb.

I have a subscription to Life Extension mag and I read it every month. There are many good articles and my fiance is heart patient and he learned a lot about how to help himself with correct nutrition, exercise and supplements.

I gotta go look at the iodine webcast now thx for the link. I love to educate myself on how to keep healthy cause the dr are busy and cant tell me everything in the 5 min they spend with me..lol.. LE also had an article on how US is deficient in iodine, you could look it on their website. Also, Dr Christine Horner's book on breast cancer, Waking the Warrior Goddess explains a lot about how iodine works in the breast.

I have been keeping abreast of what is happening with a group called, quackwatch, often cited around here, as a source for  "exposing" holistic health businesses. Here is the latest on a lawsuit that hopefully will exonerate those who the quacks at quackwatch are trying to push out of business:

Could the Doctor's Data "Protective Order" Actually Shut Down Barrett,
    Quackwatch, and the Skeptics?

Opinion by Consumer Advocate Tim Bolen

    Saturday, April 21st, 2012

    Yup... Most definitely.

Two days ago I wrote about the "Protective Order" sought by Doctor's
Data against Barrett, his minions, and hangers-on due to their
Witness Intimidation activities in the Doctor's Data v Barrett, et
al, federal court case.. There were some questions forwarded to me
about whether or not the "Protective Order" would be strong enough to
protect Barrett's victims and potential victims from Barrett and his
    co-conspirators.

How so, you ask, since a good part of the sleazy skeptic
(pseudo-skeptic) operation is intentionally based outside the US, so
as to make it hard for the average victim to sue them, or to enforce
    court judgments?

That question is much easier to answer than you would think. And, the
answer is short - and to the point - the world-wide web is based in
the US. Hence, court jurisdiction is in the US.

Example - suppose one of the more well known pseudo-skeptics, Peter
Bowditch, decides to ignore the "Protective Order," and attack
witnesses on his Australian based websites. Easy answer - he'd get
one Order signed by the court, and a time limit to comply, whether he
is in Australia or not. After he refuses to obey, or misses the time
limit, Doctor's Data simply informs the judge of that fact, and hands
the Judge a new Motion - one, this time, ordering the Internet
Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), based in Marina
Del Rey, CA, to seize Bowditch's internet domains - and turn them
off. Poof - in a microsecond, Bowditch is gone from the internet, a
bad memory, like a fart in an elevator.

Hi everyone!  I'm back after an awesome vacation to Nevada and Scottsdale and Sedona Arizona.  The food, shopping, sightseeing, and golf were excellent.  The people were wonderful.  We ate healthy the entire time we were out there because there are so many restaurants that cater to gluten free and vegetarian cuisine, and we came home weighing exactly what we did when we left.  I felt so good out there...maybe the drier climate had something to do with it, but my energy level was really up.  Hope I can maintain it now that I'm home.

I had no computer the entire 10 days so have a lot of catching up to do, as well as the unpacking nightmare (why do I overpack!).  Tomorrow I go for my eye injection for my AMD, but I'm not stressed beause I know what to expect.

Nice to be back online with friends!  Have a great day everyone!

Thanks for the interesting post about Tim Bolen, Vivre.

Sounds like a truly oustanding citizen.  For those interested in a little more information about Mr. Bolen, here's just a a little clip from one of many lawsuits he's been "involved" in (he's a disciple of Hulda Clark....look up Hulda Clark on the Web if you need more information about this outstanding citizen as well):

    Plaintiffs allege:

    1. Defendant HULDA CLARK, an individual, is an unlicensed naturopath who resides in California and operates a clinic in California and Mexico. She claims that all cancers and many other diseases are caused by "parasites, toxins, and pollutants" and can be cured within a few days by administering a low-voltage electric current, herbs, and other nonstandard modalities.

    2. Defendants TIM and JAN BOLEN are individuals who reside in California and do business as JURIMED, an entity whose purpose is to assist "alternative" health practitioners faced with regulatory action, criminal prosecution, or other matters that threaten their financial well-being and/or license to practice.

    3. Defendant Jurimed is a corporation with its principal place of business located in California.

Not sure I'd put too much time or money with Mr. Bolen. Just an unbiased comment on my part. As always, it's important to see both sides of the story, particularly when we're dealing with life-threatening cancer.

And honestly, I'm not saying that there are not some overzealous individuals or organizations who are dead set against complementary medicine, but be careful who you throw your time, money and health toward.  Mr. Bolen (and his mentor, Hulda Clark), in my opinion, is a little scary.  But come to your own conclusion.

    Thanks V,

The newspaper described Barrett who runs the quackwatch site as a de-licensed doctor who runs a hair removal parlor in a strip mall.

You can't make this stuff up. He was also on a TV panel here. He really looks sick.

Happy Belated Birthday Truebff-Sorry I missed it before. We really do appreciate our birthdays more now, don't we?

Welcome back Kaara-Hope you got lots of Vit D in that sunshine, though I guess you are pretty use to sunshine. Good to see you did not get lost in any vortex in Sedona. I never could feel the "vibe" but we did go for a hike when we were there that the trail said would be about 45 min. We are not slow walkers, but we walked for two hours and could not find the end, obviously, we got turned around. We saw another couple who were older than us and were suffering from heat exhaustion. Fortunately, we had lots of water and all the antioxidants I am on meant I did not even get a sunburn of any kind. Did you know that protecting the skin from underneath is better than sunscreens? Sunscreens often contain so many free radicals, you can end up with more skin damage. I love Sedona. It is so relaxing. And we saw a double rainbow. It was a year after I finished treatments, so I took it as a sign of good luck. It has been working so far.

Glad most of you enjoyed the article about the quack who runs quackwatch. Just this week, I have been reading that another drug, Cipro is being taken off the market for dangerous side effects. Yet, there are still those who are out there calling people like Gerson quacks because she and her father have promoted a nutrition approach to wellness, with great results. It is mindboggling.  I do not follow all of Gerson's recommendations because I find my own body chemistry is not suitabe to vegan, but learning to eat well, restore enzymes, regular detoxing, etc. have given me the kind of health I never thought possible, and has meant I have no more fear of cancer. So what is so wrong with that! I do not put down those who want to try what I call "alternatives", aka drugs,so why is it that we cannot discuss holistic health without the same person, with mulitiple ID's trying to stoke a fire.

vivre:  It's good to be back but we did enjoy our trip so very much.  I think I appreciate the good things in life so much more now whereas before I just took them for granted.  We didn't go to any of the vorte's while in Sedona, although I would have considered it if my BF hadn't rebelled at the idea.  He would rather just go and play 18 holes of golf..that's his healing fix:)  I didn't get sunburned while out there so I guess those antioxidants are working!

Interesting you should mention that cipro is being taken off the market...I can speak personally to an experience I had with that class of drugs.  I took levaquin for a UTI and got a torn ligament in my shoulder as a result.  I didn't know it at the time, but I later read that the drug causes this SE.  It had come on so suddenly without any provacation, during the time I was taking the med, that I know it was a result of the drug.  I now have it on my "allergic" list of drugs that I will never take.

Went for my second eye injection today for my AMD.  The doc said there was tremendous improvement from just the one shot, so fortunately, it is working for me.  The shot itself isn't so bad, but the burning after is annoying, and it lasts most of the day.

I knew when you posted the information on quackwatch that the defenders would come out again.  I agree with you...if someone prefers diet and supplementation over being experimented with like a lab rat, then that should be their choice.  The doctors certainly didn't warn me when I took the cipro that I could end up with a permanent shoulder injury!  There is now a class action lawsuit over this very problem, so how safe are the drugs we are being given?  I now do extensive research on any drug before I put it in my mouth!

New Research Suggests World's Most Popular Fruit May Also be One of the Healthiest

SAN DIEGO, April 23, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Already one of the world's most popular fruits, scientists are discovering that mangos may also be one of the healthiest. New research, presented this week at the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) meeting in San Diego, not only suggests people who eat mangos have a better diet, but the fruit also contains a substance that may have an effect on breast cancer cell proliferation.

Yum. As if I need an excuse.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, Vivre!

Also, all, I love the information here! Thanks always for this ongoing conversation.

I recently upped my vitamin c after reading an article about how vit c also helps fight cancer AND helps the body produce glutathione.

I have very recently felt my energy better and am curious about the effects of new/increased supplements. I have been taking more fish oil (soy free), a glutathione patch (unscented) for about 3 weeks, more vit c, and 6 vit D drops daily. (Other things too, but those I am familiar with.) My digestion is improving, my exercise more sustainable, my sleep better, and better energy (finally!).

I am wondering what supplements you are taking Vivre? Also which antioxidants -and amounts- ward off sunburns?

    Thanks!

Interesting, Vivre.  Who's the one you're referring to with the multiple ids?  Hope it's not me, as anyone can tell I've had the same user name throughout my entire time here on BCO.  Nothing to hide, you know?

Just wanted to offer some balance for those who were curious about Tim Bolen.  I wasn't bashing complementary or holistic in the slightest, just pointing out that perhaps there's more to Tim Bolen and his motives than meets the eye.  Not sure how this all fits into Cipro, but whatever.

digger:  cipro is a class of antibiotic drugs that have been prescribed for years to prevent UTI's and a number of other infections.  It was causing severe SE's like torn ligaments and rotator cuff problems in many people...so much so that a class action lawsuit is now underway.  I suspect that is why the drug was taken off the market.

While quackwatch is busy trying to shoot down those who promote alternative cures and use of supplementation, a nasty drug like Cipro slips through the cracks and causes permanent injury.  My shoulder took almost a year to heal and will never be right again.  I made mention of my issues to draw the parallel between the two.  I've had no such issues with the supplements I've taken.

As long as we're on the subject of Bolen, what about Barrett who runs quackwatch and the claim made above?  He doesn't sound so squeaky clean either....just saying.

    Kaara,

I've heard of Cipro before, I know what it is.  All I'm pointing out is that seldom in life are things so black and white, i.e. you're totally for or against a certain person or organization.  Seriously, if you read up on Bolen and his organization and he's your man and what you stand for, then go for it and hitch your wagon and your health to him!  All the more power to you! I was just stating that perhaps there are two sides of the coin here, and each person should come to their own conclusion rather than just jump on a bandwagon.  Some interesting you tube videos on Bolen and his agenda, for those who want to do a little of their own research.

    Kaara,

My suggestion...do some due diligence on both gentlemen and come to your own conclusions.  My only point is there are certainly some "interesting" you tube videos and other information on the good Mr. Bolen.

But, people are going to believe what they're going to believe.  If you're all for Bolen and find his view on the world "interesting," then more power to you!  I'm just saying if thinks he's a prophet, scarrrrry!!

But again, come to your own conclusions not based on what someone cuts and pastes on here.

Hulda Clark - she passed over in 2009.  Her llife was spent with conviction to help heal people.  To say that she did it all with the zapper is simply over-simplifying.  She tested for toxic elements in the body and helped people understand how to stop the exposure.  Before a person zaps her, take some time to read some of her books and understand her dedication.

    http://inmemoryofdrhuldaclark.com/dr-hulda-clark-memorial/in-memorium-of-dr-hulda-clark/

As she aged, she spent time in seclusion due to the persistence of the FDA and the legal system, when all she wanted was to help others.  She is one of my heroes.  She is also the reason I did not persue a career in alternative medicine though homeopathy is my passion.

Been moving, taking a few at old house and on computer, but have to run in a minutee.

    HAPPY BELATED BD TRUEBFF

I seriously don't want to get into a controversy about Hulda Clark and her disciple, Mr. Bolen, but here's just one bit of information on her claims taken straight from her writings:

All cancers are alike. They are all caused by a parasite. A single parasite! It is the human intestinal fluke. And if you kill this parasite, the cancer stops immediately. The tissue becomes normal again. In order to get cancer, you must have this parasite. . . .

This parasite typically lives in the intestine where it might do little harm, causing only colitis, Crohn's disease or irritable bowel syndrome, or perhaps nothing at all. But if it invades a different organ, like the uterus, kidneys or liver, it does a great deal of harm. If it establishes itself in the liver, it causes cancer! It only establishes itself in the liver of some people. These people have propyl alcohol in their body. All cancer patients (100%) have both propyl alcohol and the intestinal fluke in their livers. The solvent propyl alcohol is responsible for letting the fluke establish itself in the liver. In order to get cancer, you must have both the parasite and propyl alcohol in your body [5:1-2].

I guess it could be so simple that 100% of all cancers (not just breast, her claim covered virtually all cancers) is caused by this parasite and the FDA is covering that up.  But maybe not.

Just do your own individual research and come to your own conclusions.  Again, if you think the parasite is the culprit for your cancer, then great!

digger:  I personally don't care about either one of them, as I have a program that I'm following that I'm quite satisfied with;  however, I fail to understand why you would go off on one and then ignore the issues with the other one if you are really interested in presenting both sides of the story as you claim. That was the only point I was making.
