Fishing with my dad in our old aluminum rowboat. The little motor would ALWAYS die on the way back, so he had to row. He'd playfully mutter swear-words in Lithuanian as he rowed. 40 years later, just last month, I was at my Grandmother's funeral and my cousin walked up to me and said he still had that rowboat (I guess my dad had given to him many years ago -- my dad died in 2013), and said he's going to bring it to my place the next time he's out this way. (He lives in Mass., I live in D.C.). I was blown away! Now I can take my own daughter fishing in that boat. I can't wait!!

Having toothpaste fights with my sister (catapulting blobs of Colgate off our toothbrushes at each other). Well, except that time she got me in the eye....not so much a good memory. Don’t think it’s a great memory for my mum either...clean up and all. Maybe I should just scratch this memory off the list lol!
Happy Mother’s Day to all those toothpaste cleaning mommas!

Every year my family took a 2-week camping vacation on the Trent River in Canada with my Mom's family. I got to spend 2 weeks with all of my cousins, some of whom I only saw during this vacation and at Christmas. We had so much fun! Swimming, fishing, campfires, fish frys, sleepovers in each other's campers/tents, and just hanging out! All of my grandparents would go - my Mom's parents and my Dad's. It was a 2-week family reunion!! I wouldn't trade those memories for anything in this world!!

Footprintsangel, I just scrolled down this thread and saw your entry about seeing snow in Big Bear, CA! I lived in Big Bear for a few years when my son was an infant/ toddler! We moved there in the summer which is equally gorgeous, with pleasant cool weather and reasonable rentals, especially compared to the Los Angeles area! It was one of the most beautiful places I have lived.
A favorite childhood memory was driving up this same mountain, to Lake Arrowhead, another city closeby, to a lot my dad had purchased. He would drive us there to see and play in the snow. I think he dreamed of building a cabin there. My best friend Jackie came with us.

Lol), jumping out of the swing, gym class, dodge ball, climbing the rope (the dreaded rope!!!), TB tests that left the little circles on your arm, the red tablets the school nurse gave you to chew to show you how bad you brushed your teeth, snowball fights, building snowmen, snow days, the Blizzard of '78 - we got 2 weeks off school!!, school lunches - the pizza was great, the grilled cheese with spinach and boiled egg wasn't!!, the little squares of jello with cool whip on top, getting my letterman jacket, being in the school marching band & pep band, going to football & basketball games, band camp!!!, the bus trips to away football games & competitions, my high school sweetheart (my husband now!!), proms, homecoming dances, Sadie Hawkins dances, so many memories, so much fun!!!!!

Oceanbum,
I was in the 4th grade when the blizzard hit (fellow Ohioan). My brother and I had a blast those two weeks off, but then we had to go extra days to make it up.
Had forgotten about those crazy red tablets!
Great memories, thanks for the reminders!
