Yea, I know. Not likely that it wouldn't be taken if taken 6 months ago.  BCBS isn't on their list and they have taken that in the past.

I don't want to go throught the rigorous checking if I decide to go elsewhere.  I also want to switch job- so it would be great if they had some insurances on their list that I may switch to.

They presently take my insurance- but, I don't plan on staying there too much longer

If you mean the list on their website the only one I saw on there was Cigna. But I have Aetna and we are fine. It is only 60% out of network but it's better than nothing.

I don't expect to be in network... but hopefull they take the insurance if I need them in the long run. I have a falling implant- skin is too thin they say.  Had two revisions thus far.  You insurance paid 60 percent?  PM me :)

Stix, talk to the Center. It really is not a big hassle. I filled out a couple forms and emailed them with my insurance card. Vicki gave me all the numbers pretty quickly. Thankfully I had already met my max out of pocket for out of network, so my insurance paid quite well. The Center also has financial means forms if needed. I had an amazing experience from the start with them. I had both stages done last year and will be finishing up with the tattoos hopefully later this year.

I noticed the "Ask the Doctor" site has been disabled.  I hope it is just because Dr. D is out of the country and hasn't been able to monitor it.  Hopefully, it will return soon!

Oh, I thought it said it was because you have to check it every day and I wasn't. I hope it's not disabled, too.

Is it common to need a blood transfusion after reconstruction at NOLA?

I just filled out my paper work and emailed it. I'm nervous but ready for a consultation

I needed one, but I don't know how common it is or isn't.

    Thanks, mary625.

When I completed the medical history form, it asked if religious beliefs inhibited the use of blood products...this is not the case for me but it freaks me out to think I may need a blood transfusion. Maybe I'm over thinking this...

It is big surgery. I am not sure it is common, but never unexpected with this type of thing. I needed 2 units after my first MX years ago and got 2 after DIEP. I felt so much better both times. Don't be scared of the transfusion, the blood is well tested - think of it as a recharge.

Did anyone on here need their DIEP flap rotated at Stage 2? Thats what Dr D suggests for me as I have lost some tissue to necrosis in the lower inner corner of one flap. If anyone knows anthing about this please share. I'm afraid I don't fully understand what this procedure involves. Thanks :-)

Going to be staying at Hope Lodge after Stage II because of French Quarter Weekend. Any recommendations on getting food? Is Dot's Diner a good and walkable choice

I had a biscuit at Dot's -- it was okay but not stellar. If you don't have a car, Whole Foods delivers groceries for a fee and I've had some good pizza delivered to that neighborhood.

Regarding blood question... I needed 3 pints of blood after my surgery because I had super low blood pressure.

I had a seroma that I had drained after I got home and there is some necrosis in the left breast...neither was/is a big deal. NO infections!!! That is what I dealt with for my year with implants...one after another...4 times on IV antibiotics, and one unexpected surgery because of it. I removed the implants and waited a year before doing the SGAP...best decision ever! I won't be able to comment on results until I'm done, which will be by the end of this year and then I can get my 3D tattoos next year!

Mags - Dr. M told me 6 weeks. I bought a bra with a padded cup in a cup size larger then placed a cotton pad over it to dim the light.

This board has been quiet lately. I am here to end all of that. :) I finally have a tentative surgery date. Sept 1. They offered Aug 25 or Sept 1 but my DD starts middle school on the 25th and I hate to be gone.

sorry I have another question for any who have had lipo.  How long did your doc keep you in compression??  I am 2 weeks out yesterday and getting weary of it already.  You would think I would be used to it.

The nipples look great still.  Glue is coming off so the view is better.  Bruising from lipo is fading and spots are just tender now.  The worst spot is the right side that she tucked up hurts.  It is not unbearable but sore.  I hope she is right and it ends up "falling" just a little to line up with the left side.  I have faith that it will.  Have come too far to not trust her now!

Trvler...congats on getting your date set!
