Man it is hot out there today. So looking forward to cool weather. Sitting in the heat waiting on your child to get out of school sucks. My neuropathy is stinging like crazy now. Thank you Lord for central air and a window unit that is on blowing on me.
I agree would rather be cold than hot. I can throw a blanket on me but I can't take off much more.

PauldingMom - Funny post! A walking ball of sweat! And the glasses fogging up - wow, this stuff gets old, doesn't it? Thanks for a laugh/cry - glad to have some pals who know what it feels like to walk around like a furnace all day long.

Have you ladies checked out the thread called You know your a cancer patient when... It is the funniest ever. A must read for your daily laugh.

I have a feeling I will be pissing off my little ONC today. I have an appointment with him today followed by an echo 45minutes later...Little onc is always late. I don't want to miss the echo. lets hope this is the one time, he is on time. I have feeling I will have to walk out on him....

My obstetrician was like that... always late. BUT when he finally got to you it was like you were the only person in the world. It made it worth the, sometimes, hours wait.
My doctors now are all pretty timely. I think I live in a pretty competitive medical market. I haven't had to wait more than a week, even a day, for appts with specialists or tests like PET scans. Still I feel like i have had state of the art care. I wonder if the slow down in the economy has affected the medical business?
This part of Florida was booming with anticipated population growth until a couple years ago. Lots of commercial development has been put on hold. And many empty buildings like restauarants, especially mom and pop type. :-( A new CVS opened in our town and it is practically empty... I love it and hope it can survive until times are better. A small house around the corner sold for $300,000. three years ago, just resold for $80,000!!!! Terrible loss for old owner and bank.

Hi ladies,
I haven't been on in a few days. Been busy painting and taking care of sick kids. Well, we are to the point on the house were we can start putting the color on the main portion of the house. All the trim work is done. The only thing missing to get the paint is the money! Which is on its way!
Michele- Sorry to hear about your heart trouble, I hope that it is something that will just fix itself over time.
Juannelle- How is your dog doing? I tried to read all the posts, sorry if you already stated her status, I may have missed it.
The heat out here in Chicago is finally starting to subside a little. Should make for good painting weather, not too humid and just the right amount of hot.
I go on Friday for my follow up MRI in the morning, then I have to go back in the afternoon for the consultation for the results and then another ultra-sound. Should be a long day, but hopefully all goes well. I am just not looking forward to the IV for the dye injection.
Hope you all are having a wonderful day!
Hugs
Jen

Hi All! I haven't posted recently but had to share this. What a weird week. First, I got my period after one complete year without it due to chemo. It came back with a vengance, in it's usual heavy glory. I was shocked. Now I just went and got my hair cut, only my second haircut since my hair came back and just like that all my chemo curls are virtually gone. I am finding it odd. Is my body just getting back to normal? Has anyone else had such a return to "normal"? I am afraid of the old normal that put me here in the first place. Though, I do eat healthier, do supplements, vitamins and exercise so I guess I am not really the "same". My OCD ( real diagnosis) is making me worry that the chemo is finally gone and now the door is open for a recurrence. I know it is crazy. It is hard for me to not be crazy.

Lisa, Pam and Kittydog I don't know if things have cooled down any in the areas where you ladies live, but I am proud to say, here in North Alabama (in Cullman) we only had a high of 83 today!!! It was wonderful... we haven't had a nice cool day like that since maybe late April or early May. LOL!!! Hope all is well with the rest of you wonderful ladies.
Juanelle, how is Phoebe? Hoping and praying that she is continuing to improve since you got her home.
Jen hope your children are doing better and the house painting has went well! I just hate remodeling. I know we have got to get back on it and finish what we started...still have the rest of the house to paint on the inside and the wood floor to put down in the master bedroom. We've been doing it as we have the extra money. It is really time consuming and I would love to have my house back in order.

hey ladies,
We have had the nastiest of nasty flu bugs fly thru our home. All of us have been sick all week long! it started with Dylan on Monday, Brandon on Tuesday, I got sick Wednesday and my husband got sick Wednesday afternoon. I am back to work today, but still not 100%. I'm just glad I got it out of the way before my MRI tomorrow. BTW, Michele, that is my hand you are holding~ Thank you
Hugs

Howdy to the rest of you wonderful ladies. Juanelle, how is your pup doing?

Renee I rejoiced yesterday when it was cloudy and 89. It felt like winter sitting in my car waiting on my DD. to get our of school.
Hope all are doing well. I would try to keep up with the post but my brain isn't ready for that yet. I have started cleaning up the house. 9 months of dust is awful on my allergies. I have the den almost finished but taking a break. I am not sure if I am having Lymphedema or whether it is from all the exercise and the work I am doing at home. I have 4 more PT's and hopefully my arm will be feeling better. I was told to take the next few days easy till we figure out what is going on.
It feels good to be able to do stuff again. I still wear out easily but I have come a long way.

Abby-Take is easy on your arm. If you suspect LE get it treated right away. I am sure with all you have going on it is hard to figure out what the pain is from, just watch for swelling. Since you only had 5 nodes removed I would hope you wouldn't get LE, but one never knows I guess. Just be careful and rest as much as you can~
Had my MRI this morning already, I handled it better than I thought I would. I go back later this afternoon for the consultation for the results and an ultra-sound. I will keep you all posted.
Hugs

Prayers and good vibes are with you, Jen.

Well the PT measured it this morning and it is one inch bigger than the other arm. It does not feel as swollen today! PT did massage it today and want me to have DH massage it over the weekend. She thinks I have just done way to much along with doing my new exercises.
Keep your fingers crossed that it's not Lymphedema.

Hey girls! Just thought I'd introduce myself! I'm somewhat new to the discussion boards and just came across this group. I was diagnosed with IDC March 24, 2009. Stage 2B, grade 3, ER+ PR- HER2+, with lymph node involvement. Underwent 6 rounds of high dose neoadjuvent chemo (Taxotere/Carboplatin/Herceptin), lumpectomy (downgraded from mastectomy after favorable response to chemo), axillary node dissection, 33 rads, 1 year Herceptin, 5 years Tamoxifen. I'm 32 (diagnosed at age 30, the day before 31st bday - happy effing bday!). BRCA1 mutation of "uncertain significance". Went through years of fertility issues before the cancer - think my cancer was actually caused from taking Clomid for so long (high dose estrogen fertility drugs). Adopted a baby boy in November. Now living every day thankful but as a hypochondriac.

Danielle, Welcome to the group. I too have become a bit of a hypochondriac. In fact he other day as my little onc is feeling up my chest. I tell him that I check my breasts at least 4 times a week for lumps..He said this is normal and before I know it I will only be checking them once a week...

Danielle ~ Welcome ! Congratulations on your adoption, I am sure your new baby is keeping you busy. Hopefully the hypocohondriac in us goes away a bit over time.
Michele ~ I am the opposite... I don't want to touch or feel myself anywhere for fear of what I may find.

Hi Ladies - Alicia, your photo is beautiful. Your hair is so pretty - is it longer than we see it in your avitar?
Abby, saying prayers for you. No lymphedema allowed.
Jen, how was your consultation?
Danielle - nice to know you. Glad you are here with us.
Kitchen is still under construction. Tile backsplash goes in tomorrow morning. Hope to have my domain back soon. I'm hoping to buy a miner's cap before the cleanup starts. If I don't post after a few days, send someone in for me, OK?
XO, Mary

Just stopping in to say hi. I've been on vacation and am trying to get caught up on all the screens. I hope everyone is doing well.
Mary, your renovation sounds like what I want done at my house. You lucky girl.
KittyDog - I hope your arm is not edema.
JoJo- what a nice uplifting story about you cutting the wig. You made such a difference in the girl's like right now.
Alicia - I'm with you....I'm afraid of finding something, too!
Juannelle - not sure if you did a post with a status of your little dog. If you did, sorry I missed it. I hope the little angel pulled through.
Jen - your painting project sounds like a big job. I'm sure it'll be so nice when it's done.
Michele - hello
Danielle - welcome
Anybody I missed.....helllo!

Thanks for the WELCOME girls! I'm looking forward to getting to know you! A little more about me - non cancer related - I like to read (I read about a book every two weeks), have 3 dogs (Sheltie, Puggle, Yorkie Poo) and 2 cats. We got a new pet every year we went without a baby and now our house is a little chaotic. I am the oldest of three sisters (32, 29, 26) and am a neat freak (even with 5 pets). Are any of you girls still in treatment? Any lingering side effects?

Welcome to the group Danielle! Really hate that you're so young and are here... really hate that any of us are here!! How wonderful that you adopted a little boy!! Children are so amazing and such a joy to share your life with. They are what we live for and wait till you have grandchildren someday... Oh my, they are just as wonderful!!
Abby praying for no lymphedema!!
Jen how did your test come out??
Juanelle we are still wanting to hear from you about your pup... Hugs

Welcome Danielle! This is a great group of wonderful ladies. I think you'll like it here!
Alicia, I thought I was the only one who was afraid to check my breasts. I figure that with the number of doctors feeling me up all the time, I should be ok - despite the fact that I found my cancer a short 3 months after a thorough breast exam by the gyn and clean mammogram. I hate that I allow this fear to control me, but what can I do? (By the way, I love your new pic! You look great!)
Mary - keep the faith during the reno project - just keep thinking how happy you'll be with the results!
I have a small gripe - I am relatively young to have been diagnosed with cancer, at age 36. I am SO tired of people telling me "Oh, you're so young!" when they find out about my diagnosis. How do I gently let people know that is just not the right thing to say? I'm tired of smiling and nodding.
Peace to all,
Shelby

Good morning ladies.
Shelby I second your gripe on the age thing. I get it too, I was dx at 35 and I get it from nearly everyone that finds out. I just smile and come back with "Well, unfortunately cancer knows no age limits" But, it is annoying to say the least.
Danielle- welcome to our group, glad you found us, but so sorry you are in our club. You will find a ton of support here.
Well, the consultation went fine. They found one little lymph node that was a little bit bigger than last time, and she wants to see it again in 4 months to make sure it isn't still growing. We concluded that either it was bigger from me having the flu just a couple days before the test or my LE acting up. So, we will see. Other than that it was good.
I to don't check my breasts as much as I should, or as much as I thought I would once I got diagnosed. I am with Alicia on that on, I guess it is just out of fear that something else will surface. Plus I figure I am going in for follow ups so much that the doctors would probably find something before I would. Maybe that is not the best way to be, but it is how I am right now.
Well, have a great day ladies!
Jen

Pauldingmon - said a good prayer for you. Hang in there.
Jen - glad to hear your doc is not terribly worried about the node. Been thinking about you.
Michelle - do you have any updates for us?
Sugar - nice to see your post. Good to hear from you. How was your vacation?
Shelby - thanks for the encouragement. The cleanup is intense! After a day of cleaning walls and ceilings (my nephew has asthma, so it has to be clean around here) I pulled the refrigerator out to clean behind it. Figured I might as well change the water filter while I was back there. Well, the water valve broke at the connection in the wall. Water went everywhere. My friend Jim ran outside and shut the water off to my house. 1. Long day of cleaning, and I was filthy 2. The kitchen had just been cleaned from top to bottom 3. Had to bail water, dry off the brand new cabinets, and floor 4. Could not take a shower or drink water or brush teeth until the plumber got here this morning. 5. Everything is messed up again.
But it all seems like nothing compared to what we've ben through. One thing to say about cancer is that it puts life in perspective. Here's hoping that all of us NEVER let the little things get to us ever again.
Love and hugs to all of you. XO, Mary
