Has anyone told you lately how great all you women are? Well, you are all fabulous.
Tomorrow is my cancerversary for having my cancer removed. So I have been free of cancer for a year. WooooooHooooo. I am a survivor, it is so strange to think of myself in that way.
Jen, hope the house painting goes well. We had ours done last year and we just went with the same color. We have been in the house for 22 years and it has always been this color or close to it, it is federal blue. I thought about painting it yellow, but my husband almost had a stroke.
Pam, I have been out on the new thread. I didn't go to the older one, seems there must be some trouble there. They have already given me lots of advice and some of it I will try tonight. You know when you think you are the only one experiencing something, it is good to find out you are not alone. That is what I find so fascinating about this site. There is always so much support.
Sherri, I will figure out some way to deal with all of this. It just came on so sudden, I thought I had dodged the SE bullet, but it was not to be.
Michele, I will check out the thread, I am always in the mood for a good laugh.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Juanelle ~ woo HOO Congrats on the good resport from the dr. Sorry about your SE's from your arimidex. I am 4 months in on the tamoxifen and on a 2 week break, due to knee and lower back pain. OF COURSE I feel great now ~ after a good bone scan, but am imagining now it was the tamoxifen. So I start up again Tuesday and we will see how it goes............
Hang tough Girls ! Oh and Happy Cancerversary to those who have passed and those coming up.

Juanelle ~ Woo Hoo !!! Doing the happy dance on your good reports from the Dr. and on your Cancerversary... Boo to your SE's from the Arimidex!! I too had hoped from all your good reports that you had "dodged the bullet", oh well maybe they can figure something out. Remember there still is Aromasin, Femara, Evista and Tamoxifen, besides the Arimidex you are taking so I am sure your doc can find something that will work for you. I take Tamoxifen and I'm post menopausal and I am having some stinking SE's from it. But they aren't anywhere near as bad as what you have described or some of the other ladies and I have found they are managable most of the time.
And even with the creaking knees I was able to climb 203 steps up to the top of the Ponce de Leon Lighthouse at the Ponce Inlet in Daytona Beach, Florida!!! There was NO ELEVATOR!! so you came back down the same way you went up... LOL! I told my DH there shirts needed to say 406 steps not 203. HaHa!!!

jojo, it is good to hear that life is gong on far you. I know how impossible daughters can be. I had a disagreement with mine about 5 years ago and haven't heard from her since. She moved and left no forwarding address, no phone, no nothing. Maybe someday she will return. I did get a strange call about a month ago, she was applying for credit for a car and used me as a credit reference. Boy was that a mistake on her part, long story. Anyway she has not always been the brightest bulb in the box.
Renee, you climbed all the way to the top? Did you just want to fling yourself over the side, so you wouldn't have to walk down all he steps? My DH and I are going to the Grand Canyon next month, there will be no hiking, just walking around.
Alicia, hope the SEs are better. My hands hurt really really bad and I tried sleeping in wrists splints last night, suggest from the Arimidex thread and it really helped. So many good suggestions, I am sure I will find some that relieve all the pain. At least that is my hope.

Juanelle and JoJo, great news on the good tests! It is such a relief to hear the word "negative"! I'm sorry to hear of the daughter troubles.
Renee, good for you on the climb! I'd be huffing and puffing halfway through. And Jen, WOW on the martial arts acheivements! I've always wanted to get into karate - my oldest daughter did it for six years. I tried to start a walking program to increase my level of activity, but I just couldn't keep it up. The only time I could go was at 5:00 in the morning, and that just won't work, especially in the fall when my days really fill up. I guess I'll just have to be ok with how it is now and work on the diet. I have my 20th high school reunion in November, and I'd like to lose some weight by then, I don't know if 20 pounds is unrealistic but it sure would be nice!
Everyone have a fabulous day!

My Doctor about had a cow when he saw me the other day and said he couldn't believe that I had gained so much weight. I am trying, but just can't seem to stay on anything long enough to make a difference. I am working with a trainer 2 days a week for an hour each. He is the only reason I am getting any exercise at all. I hate treadmills and it is just too hot in Texas to take a walk in the afternoon or early evening. It was still 100 degs last night at 8:00 pm

Working just does not leave enough time for exercise! And why doesn't housework count?!!! I walk every AM and the heat just wipes me out for the rest of the day. I am so tired of being hot and sweaty :-( DH and I had to do some outside painting yesterday. Started at 9:00 AM, finished at 1:00 PM. Even after eating and drinking I lost 3 lbs! All sweat!!! It has never been so hot in Florida. And we, at least, have an ocean breeze... supposedly. No relief until late October :-(
I am huddled around the air conditioner today.

Everyone has so much great news! So happy to hear, really made my day.
Hot here too, but we got a new mattress and have spent most of the weekend in bed watching movies with Hubby. With this stupid tumor in my back it's been great!
Wishing all of you a fantastic week.

I feel everyone on the heat and humidity! The heat index here in Cullman today was 117 degrees!!! It has been One HOT Summer!!! I can remember when I was a child in school I couldn't wait for the summer, but it's just too hot to lay out anymore unless there is a pool or ocean to lay in. LOL! Juanelle I agree with you on the walking and exercising, I hate it. One way I made it to the top of those steps was the fact that I have lost over 40 inches and pounds. It was also cooler on the ocean with the breeze blowing.

I'm back from a great visit with my daughter in NC. I hadn't seen her in almost a year (bad work schedules for both of us). Weather was hot. but bearable. Hubby and I looked at some active adult communities there. We were very pleased with what we saw. I just need to figure out the timing of all of this. I'm not happy about the housing prices in NJ, but I have faith that things will fall into place. Of course, work is also a big factor. Decisions, decisions.

Wow - trips to the beach, master's degrees, black belt tests, house painting, pleasure island, and aching bones. And a few of you are finishing up treatments - hooray. And I noticed a surprise celebrity guest post from JoJo, too. Hello, All! Nice to read up and see what's shaking.
What's shaking for me is newly noticed arm fat. Tamoxifen is a big kick in the back side. Everything is turning wrinkly and flabby. I get the frozen hands, too. And my feet- OUCH! Still, it beats last summer by a long shot.
My DS is going back to work tomorrow. Her exchange surgery is scheduled for late September. This whole thing has been tough, but she is going to look really pretty when it's all done. And she won't have to go through what we're enduring.
Been cleaning out the kitchen this weekend - going to do a little updating in there starting tomorrow morning. Not much - a new countertop, an under mount sink, some updated under counter lights, and new cabinet doors. Wow - I've got a lot of stuff! It was a good to put some things aside to donate, and good to throw some stuff out. Girls, I'm getting it together. Time to start thinking about a new beginning. Gotta get the house in order, and my life in order.
Like the rest of you, I am wilting in this summer heat. Not walking any more until things cool down. Tamoxifen and 100 degree + heat DO NOT mix well. Would like to go to the health club to swim, but don't want to come home and shower with a house full of contractors. I can hardly think of even using the potty while there here. I know - I've got enough issues to fill a book.
Gosh, it's good to read about all of you. Stay in touch - it really has been so nice getting to know you.
XO, Mary

Mary I know what you mean about the contractors. The week I started chemo, we started some remodeling. It was only going to last 3 weeks, but you know how it goes, it always goes on longer. It seemed like forever. The bathroom was torn up and I had to spend my sick days with all these people in my house. What a mess. Maybe yours will go sooner. You do have locks on the bathroom door?
I helped my cousin make jelly today. We had wild grapes and some pears. The grape jelly is just beautiful. I hated summers when I was a child. We lived on a farm and canned all our food. It was my job to wash the jars. I have never wanted to do any canning since. But it is different when you are helping someone. We always have a good time and it goes by so fast. We made pear butter and it is so good. I almost ruined it, Sandra went to get us hamburgers and I didn't watch it close enough and it almost burned. I would have felt so bad. But it worked out.
I have been playing Words with Friends on my iPhone and it is addictive. We updated my phone yesterday and I lost all my pictures and apps. It was not suppose to do that, but we got most of the pictures back, but not the most current and had to rebuy the apps. It took us about 3 hours to get it straightened out. Boy I was not a happy camper. I just told my DH, who was being very patient with me, it is just a F#$#$##$ phone and that is all it should be used for. You get so use to all the conveniences of the phone and when you lose all the information, it makes a dent in your life.
Stay out of the heat and we are suppose to have a cool front come through here and it will only be 98 deg F. I may get out my parka.

Good morning everyone,
I have had close to one of the worst weekends of my life. But it all centers around finances and not disease. You would think that since I have survived cancer, that I could deal with anything. But I am a freaking mess right now. Money is tight and I need to find a new job that will give me full time hours. I am severly stressed about that, along with the house painting project. Anyway, enough bitching for now.
JoJo- so good to hear from you, glad you had a good outcome on your mammo.
Mary- Good luck with your kitchen remodel. I am sure you will love it when you are done and it will all be worth it. At least that is what I am telling myself about our house painting project!
Michele-Thanks for the giggle about pleasure island. Which by the way for me is still working properly as well. My DH would be devastated if I dried up.
Thanks for all your support ladies! Couldn't get thru any of this without you!

Jen,
After spending 4 hours on a small painting job, I can't believe what you are tackling! But you know, it will get done, you will find a full-time job, the kids will go back to school, DH will finish that project he started a year ago, your mother or MIL will surprise you by being nice, Indian Summer will be glorious, everyone will bring covered dishes for Thanksgiving, it will snow for Christmas, your New Year's resolution to loose weight will come true, the new colors of your house will be the perfect background for the jonquils ......and before you know it you will be celebrating your 2 year cancerversary!
I am wishing all of that and more for you!

Juanelle - so true about the phone. Remember way back when we used to be able to go out of the house without a phone? How did we ever manage to get our errands done? What did everyone do when we were away from our phones??!!
Jen - so sorry about your worries. So many of us are in the same boat. Just take it a day at a time. And thanks for your kind words about reading my posts. You are so nice to know, too. Isn't this board just about the best thing that could happen to a girl in distress?
JoJo - fabulous avitar. You look really good, and that sweet little baby is adorable.
Pam - as usual, love your post. Jonquils. Love it!
Alright. Went nuts on the poor guys working int he house today. They started sanding while I was away at a dr. appt. They had agreed to put plastic over everything. Got home to find they didn't put plastic over my stuff. Dust EVERYWHERE! On every throw pillow, picture frame, knick knack, and chair. Snakes started coming out of my head - I'm sure they were terrified. I threw one heck of a fit. And I'm STILL mad just writing about it. But this is part of the fun of home improvement. Stay tuned - I want to cut to the scene where I'm sitting on the sofa eating chocolate and admiring my lovely, orderly, clean surroundings. And yes, with a lovely vase of jonquils on the coffee table. And a stiff drink.
XO, Mary

OH you ladies are sooo funny if you keep the good sense of humor running you will get through any thing
And yes finally a new avitar i finally worked it out the little baby girl im holding is my granddaughter ive go two they are 3 mnths appart

Jen, I know of what you speak. But you were right the first time - you CAN deal with anything! I'm surprised at how, just when I think all is lost, someone or something comes through to make it right again. I'm sure that will happen for you, too.
Pam, you do have a way with words! Will you write me some positive affirmations? I'll pay you...
Juanelle, it is rather balmy here in TX, isn't it? I heard one of the newscasters on the morning news the other day say something about a cool front - I perked right up and looked up from my newspaper, then he said it was just a joke. Cruel joke!! LOL
Mary, RAWR at those contractors! Make them vacuum and dust for you. You have every right to be frustrated with them. But it will all be worth it in the end. And good luck to your DS.
I'm enjoying my time off from school - all ten days of it before school starts again for the fall. I read a great book over the weekend, and plan on reading more this week. It's so wonderful to read a book for pleasure rather than a textbook!
What I'm NOT enjoying is the hot flashes from the tamox. Will they EVER go away? Even though I've gotten the Rx for gabapentin, the pharmacist said it could take up to six WEEKS to work, and it's hard to remember to take it 3 times a day. I must say, though, the hot flashes are a good reminder to take it!
Have a GREAT day ladies!
Love and hugs...
Shelby

OH Mary you have every right to be mad. That would get my goat. When I was doing Chemo. we had a flood here in Atl and our roof was damaged. So we had a new roof put on. They PROMISED to pick up all the loose nails that fell to the ground. That was a year ago and I am still finding nails.

Thanks for the positive words from everyone. Pam I cried after I read your post. I am praying you all are right and things will start to go my way, and soon!
Shelby- I love you new avatar, you are so beautiful and you look so happy
Take care everyone

Thanks for the reinforcement, ladies. Today went well - my house is tarped, taped, and draped. They could drop a nuke and I think I'd be able to live sealed up in here for at least a decade.
Shelby, they say the hot flashes can subside over time. I'm at month 6, and still red as a beet and hot as a jalapeno most of the time. But it does seem the hot flashes are farther apart and maybe one ant whisker less intense. Hang in there.
0 -
Mary,
Are you running your A/C? We did a big remodel a few years ago. The drywall dust got in the AC ducts and I know it is still cycling through the house all these years later. :-( With all this heat I don't know how to prevent it.
pam

Good thought, Pam. I went downstairs and checked the vent in the kitchen - that's ground zero. They've covered it up, which is probably a good thing. But I can't cover the air intake or there'd be a meltdown. I think I'll schedule a maintenance appointment/filter change for the heat and AC after the remodel. Thanks for the heads-up. I see a shop vac and haz-mat suit in my future....

Mary, glad things are going better, at least you didn't have to kill anyone.
Well, yesterday when I got home from work my little tea cup poodle was sick, so we called the vet and of course it was after hours, so you know what that means. Anyway, my little baby had a snake bite. (Rattler this time) She was doing well all day today, but he called me about 6:00 and she is not doing well. Her temp is dropping and she is not moving around much. He is not hopeful. She is so small, she just doesn't hardly have a chance. I just do not want her to suffer.
We have never had a problem with snakes and this year it has been terrible. We are going to have someone come over in a day or two to look around and see what we can do to get rid of them. I think it is just so hot they are coming up to get water.
