OK, who is next? Juanelle had a bathroom water leak. Now Mary has a water flood. Bad things come in threes so..........
But I will take a water disaster over new medical problems. Mary is right!

Oh No Mary!! So sorry you had to go thru that, it sounds like a horrible mess. My parents have been dealing with water backing up at their house the past 2 days and they are not having fun with it right now. But, I agree with you, these things that come our way are manageable and fixable. We have all had bigger mountains to climb over the past year. I keep telling myself that with this job thing I am trying not to stress about.

So sorry for the disaster. I have hit the point that I just laugh at all the things that have gone wrong in my household since my DX.
It is official. I have Lymphedema. I saw my surgeon today and he agrees. I go tomorrow to rule of a blood clot. Not sure yet when I will get my sleeve but he said most likely they will start with massaging to work some of it out. Oh joy. BC the gift that keeps giving. More appointments.

I bet most of us used to have one doctor, an OB/GYN. Mine treated me for everything... BC pills, babies, "female problems". HRT, mammograms, routine check ups. Occasionally he sent me to specialist like for a colonscopy when I turned 50. Life was so simple.
Now I have a team of doctors! Just hate it!!!

You're right, Pam. Doesn't it seem like we need "all the king's horses and all the king's men?"

Mary - thanks for asking...my vacation was WONDERFUL. Just what the doctor ordered.
I go back to work on a gradual return starting next week. I'm ready, though and am looking forward to seeing all my co-workers and getting back into the swing of things again.

Been MIA this week - I haven't been this busy in quite a while! I'm taking two classes a week for my Master's program in addition to starting my full-time student teaching assignment. In addition to being a single mom of two demanding teenagers. I haven't been this tired since rads was over! I don't think I've fully recovered all of my energy yet. I end up going to sleep around 8:30 every night. That works for now, but once I start having to do lesson plans, I don't know how that's going to work since I'll have to work on them in the evenings. I just have to keep reminding myself that it will only last a few months, then I'll get my Bachelor's in December, and will earn my Master's in May of next year. It will be worth it.
Mary, I'm so sorry to hear of your kitchen problems! No good deed goes unpunished, eh? Cleaning up behind the fridge was a noble idea, anyhow. Water messes are the worst to clean up. They get into every nook and cranny. My parents had a water leak once while they were on vacation, and came home to a nightmare. Their neighbors were alerted to the problem when they saw water coming out from underneath the garage door. They ended up having to replace the ceiling and kitchen cabinets (it was an upstairs bathroom). I don't envy you the work, but it's great the attitude you have towards what we used to consider terrible problems in the past after all we've gone through. It actually helps us reduce stress in a way.
Paulding, sending many positive thoughts your way for good test results.
Sherri, good luck going back to work!
Got to get going (the days start earlier now!). To everyone, happy healthy thoughts!!
Hugs,
Shelby

Shelby ~ hang in there with your schedule ! I am exhausted just reading about it. But how exciting all you are accomplishing after kicking cancers butt ~
JOJO ~ sorry about your headaches and nausea. I am hoping it is just a side effect of the tamoxifen. I hope you get good results, when is your scan appt?

Pauldingmom, Waiting and praying for good news today!
JoJo, It's not hypochondria... we have good cause to be watchful. I am so glad your DR takes your worries seriously. A scan should put your concerns to rest.

Hello Ladies!
I just wrote a post and lost it, darn, I'm too tired to retype all that. It's almost a week since my breast reconstruction surgery. So far, so good. I'm very tired and struggling to do my PT exercises and to start walking. (It's recommended.)
It's great to get back to the computer, though and catch up with folks. Thanks, Mary for your tale of woe in the kitchen. We just had a flood and now, looking back, I can just laugh.
Take care,
Sharkey

Hi Sharkey,
Hope the storm does not keep you inside for the weekend. Seems like "walking" works for everything! So glad you are moving forward.

I'm with you girls on being a hypochondriac, but I wouldn't be that way if the doctors wouldn't have misdiagnosed me for so long! Now I feel like I can't trust when they say everything's fine. I need proof now and agree I wish they would do the scans more frequently. I perform self exams at least once a day and drive myself crazy worrying. I read all the girls profiles who are stage IV and they all seem to have grade 3 tumors like mine and that worries me. But I agree, I'm thankful and trying to stay happy in the current moment.

Hi ladies,
Just checking in. We have had so much sickness going thru our house I feel like I need to be quarentined! We had stomach flu last week, and this week the Illness dejour was soar throat with stuffy nose ala carte! So tired of being sick and tired. Also, the job hunt is not going as planned. I am still on the hunt for full time employment, and it really sucks!
Abby I am so sorry you are having to deal with lymphedema. Stay positive and make sure you do absolutely everything they tell you to. I was bad about the home stuff they wanted me to do, and I am paying for it.
Pauldingmom- Congrats on b-9 results! So happy for you!
Hope everyone has a lovely and safe Labor Day weekend!
Hugs
Jen

PauldingMom: What a relief - great news!!! Have a fantastic weekend.

Hope everybody has a great weekend. I am headed to my moms. It is her 78th. birthday.
I went to the lymphedema clinic today. I am glad to say that this morning I had very little swelling. Unfortunately I thought it was only in the upper part of the arm. It starts below the elbow. She normally would just send somebody in my condition to just get a sleeve but not in my case. lol I have never been normal. She said since my sleeve would have to be special ordered, she is going to put me through the 7 day clinic. That way, I will at least no what to do if it should start up again. She agreed that the PT had me doing too much and a couple things I should have never done.

Hi,
Best wishes to you all waiting to go for tests or get results. It is tough to be wondering.
Thanks for suggesting walking, Pam. Sometimes it helps to hear it here...I'll be more likely to follow through and I know I'll feel better for it. I did do a little bit of Tai Chi the last two days, so I'm pretty proud of that. Now if I can just keep the trend going.
Today was an awesome day too because my Dad and sister visited and they brough my little niece and nephew. It is such a joy to see the kids, they were having a grand time throwing a ball with me and my Dad. They just laughed and laughed.
We had a little scare with my incision. The area above it was getting more swollen and coloring up in the last two days. So I'm thinking something might be wrong. I called the on-call doctor and felt much better. We go back Tuesday to check for the first time since getting out of the hospital. I think I'll be relived when someone actually looks at things again.
Take care,
Sharkey
