Renee, I think a B cup would be nice. My DD is about your size and she looks great with a B cup. You would be beautiful with any size!

Hello Ladies, I know I am in on the end of a LONNNGGG conversation but I am a 2009 DX also. I am all finished up with TX as of May but I haven't began the journey of reconstruction. Still looking for the right surgeon. Last one said I had to lose 80lbs before he would touch me. OMG I said I'll just run right home and do that!!!! PSSSTTT. Easier said than done. Anyway looking into the DIEP and hopeful.  At this point I don't even care! I am just glad to not be at a doctors office everyday.  I have some prothesis that the American caner society gave me and I am sooo very thankful but those honkers weigh about 10lbs each and they sweat me to death. I think I need to get a professional fitting. There has to be something better than those gigantic chicken cutletts they gave meWink

Jojo, you bad, bad girl....I have heard that some women do take a tamoacation from time to time.  And sometimes when they go back to taking it, all is good.  So lets hope that is the case for you.

    Hi ladies,

I have been on a hiatus with all of the job crapola I had goin on. I am happy to say I am gainfuly employed with a great company and I am really happy. I started my new job last Thursday and it is going well so far. BC has really been the last thing on my mind lately, which surprises me. Although I have been having trouble with my lymphedema the past few days. But, it's nothing I can't handle.

JoJo-Congrats on your good results! So happy for you!

Marie- I am so sorry for all you have been thru lately, I hope you get some relief soon!

    Welcome Tiffany~

Oh and I almost forgot, we are all healthy again in our house and we finished painting it! And it looks sooooo nice!

Hello ladies! I am planning a 1 year survivor sleep over at my home with some of my best girlfriends. I have been friends with this group of ladies for going on 26 years!!! I don't know what i would have done without them when I had surgeries and especially  in treatment. They brought dinner several days a week they had bake sales and raised money to help with the costs and would even come over late at night and lay in bed with me and talk or watch movies when I was all wide awake from taking steroids.  I am so blessed and lucky to have them.  Any good ideas on fun food or baking ideas to celebrate with????? I really want to make it a fun evening for them.

    Hi All!

Welcome Tiffany!  I hope you are able to get the reconstruction you want.

I was also leary that any reconstruction could be done on my radiated side but my PS tells me yes but slowly and not too big - it can be done.

Renee I'm hoping for a B cup too.  I told the surgeon same size (C) or a B but not bigger.  I think that clothes will look better - that is once I lose these 20lbs!

Thanks everyone for the kind words and encouragement.  I am finally beginning to feel better - last night was a turning point for me.  The meds (anti-inflammotories) and heat pockets are having an effect.

So it's not a seroma and it's not lymphatic after all.

It's just my body - mainly my muscles and nerves - complaining about being stretched.  Also I was hunching over and holding my arm in such a way that my muscles were actually  contracting and not relaxing at all - making matters worse.  I think they call it "broken wing" syndrome.

I've had 2 physio therapy sessions and it's now much better!

    What a relief!

The next hurdle will be getting out of this compression bra.  Just 10 more days!

JoJo I was very tempted NOT to go back on the Tamoxifen.  I felt pretty good the 2 weeks before surgery when I stopped taking it.  No joint pain was the biggest difference for me.

    Have a great week all!

    Marie

Hi Ladies, I was diagnosed in 2009. Finished chemo Sept and rads late November. Hope you don't mind if I join in. I have a question. What blood tests are you doing to monitor your health? What tumour marker tests do you do. My PCP does not seen particularly knowledgeable but he says he will order whatever I like, just let him know. Do you know what the standard tests are and how often we should have them done?

    Hi Kimby!

Sorry you have to join this group but glad that you found us!

I don't know what the norm is but where I live (BC Canada) my ONC orders CA 125, CA 15-3 and CEA as well as Hematology and General Chemistry tests every 6 months.

When I was considering an OOPH I asked for FSH, LH (pituary function) and Estradiol (reproductive and gonadal) tests to determine if I was still producing estrogen.  It turns out I'm menopausal (at 47 due to chemo) and I cancelled the surgery since there was no benefit to me.

I signed up for online monitoring of my blood work and now after I have my blood drawn I check it online and then print out the report for my own records.

    Good luck with it!

    Marie

    Hi Kimby and welcome.

My onc orders CA 15-3 and CBC every 6 months. Also mammograms q 6 months.  She also did a Vitamin D test once. Baseline bone DEXA scan but it was normal so no follow up on it.

Everyone is different and lots of Docs don't do tumor markers.

     Good luck

Welcome TiffanyF4 and kimby!  Nice to have you Smile!!

Pam thanks for trying to show me the bright side to being a healthy B cup... LOL!

JoJo congrats on the good new and here's to staying happy and healthy!

Jen - so glad you found a new job I know you were really down for a little while.  Here's a happy dance for you on finally finishing painting the house... happy dance, happy dance.!!!

I have missed everyone this week.  I have been so busy with work and I'm putting in way too many hours.  I promised myself I wasn't going to do that after I got healthy again and here I am.  I swear it's like a funnel and you get sucked in and drug all the way to the bottom.  You have to climb and scream to get back to the top and get out.  Don't get me wrong I love my job and in this day and time I am very thankful to have a job, but I also want time with my family and friends and my sista's!  Stress can really weigh you down and make you sick.  I hope some of the stress decreases soon.  I have a nurse that gives me a constant headache these days.

    Love you ladies!!

Renee, I know exactly what you mean.  I'm getting all stressed out and stretched too thin between student teaching full time and my grad classes, taking care of my kids, and taking care of the house.  I'm not happy - not because I don't like what I'm doing, but because there's just so much of it to do.  I ended up getting sick this past week, and I'm positive my mental stress contributed to it.  Unfortunately, I don't see an end to it anytime soon.  While I know that essentially, it is a choice I make, I don't see my way to making a different choice.

Stress is hard on us.  It cvan be hard to eek out a few moments in the day to just relax and decompress.  It seems that since the kids are back to school the days get busier and busier.  I have a daughter who clings to me like crazy when I am home.  She doesn't realize that I need my space.  I sometimes get crabby when she is like this.  I know I have to try harder, but it is hard some times.

Welcome Kimby, I am bad, I a am unsure of the exact tests my onc orders.  I guess I just leave that to her.  She is great and I have a lot of faith in her, so I leave the worrying to her.  I saw her this week and asked about getting a  new set of girls for this spring.  She said NO WAY. I have to wait for a year after my radiation.  Oh well.  I guess I can't go topless on my vacation with my DH>

    Hi Marie K,

I live in Caifornia and was wondering if I could just ask you a question. I am a 1 year survivor, estrogen receptor positive. I take the estrogen blocker, Femara. It costs me $500 per month until I meet my deductable at which time, it is only $35 per month. A friend of mine, a nurse for over 30 years, just sent me a link to a Canadian Medical website where Femara only costs $154 per month. I was wondering if you know of anyone taking the estrogen related meds and if I can trust to purchase my meds through this website. Any info or suggestions would be so helpful. Thank you !

    KTMimi,

I think many members here buy their drugs from Canadian pharmacies. Maybe do a search with those key words and someone will recommend a specific site.

I have not posted much as I am struggling with some neurological problems that are driving me nuts. Not sure if Arimidex is playing a role? Trying to get an appt with a neurologist but my pcp is dragging his feet. Unlike him. :-(

    Hoping to feel better soon.

wow life has been busy for me.  I started in the LE Clinic and after a week I had to quit due to an allergic reaction to something.  We are questioning my foob and lanolin.  Got that better and I am now back in the clinic for my two week session.  So far so good.  I will get measured next week for my sleeve.

Forward.  Saw my Gyn today and I will be having a total Hysterectomy on Oct. 25.  Scared but yet ready to be done with it all.

Hope everybody else is doing well!

Abby the hysterectomy will not be a bad thing and once it is over with a few weeks later you will feel like a new woman... at least I did!! I had mine 8 yrs ago now when I was 38 yrs old and I have never looked back and regreted it.  What a pain in the but it was.  I never realized how bad the old menstrual cycle made me feel.  Oh glory days to not have that anymore and then to not have to worry about getting any type of ovarian or cervical or uterine cancer is awesome... or at least I thought so until BC.  But it's a plus in the hat.  Good luck and I will definitely be thinking of you.  I know you have been through so much already.

    Pam I hope you feel better soon.  I really hate to hear you are having some down days.  Hoping it is as simple as medication and some minor changes will fix the problem.  {{{Hugs}}}

Michelle good luck with your cardiologist as well.

Juanelle where are you... can you hear me??? haven't heard from you in a few days!
