Here I am, here I am!  So sweet of you to think of me, Alicia.  I don't come here as often as I used to, but I do check about 1-2 times a week to catch up with everyone.  Good luck to everyone on jobs, doctor appointments, trips and the like.

I am sooooo loving my new job!  The kids are terrific, my fellow teachers and principal are extremely supportive and helpful, and even the parents have been great!  I only wish I had realized this was my calling mych earlier in life.

Right now, I am enjoying our 2-week October break from school (we operate on a year-round schedule).  Work keeps me VERY busy, but it's a good busy.  My girls are just as busy - my oldest, Molly, is in the middle of marching band competition season as the head drum major.  My younger daughter is staying very active with cross-country running and choir.  They keep me running!

Healthwise, all seems to be going pretty well.  I was a little worried last week when my arm seemed to be just a bit swollen and some pain, but it seems to have subsided.  I have an appt with my surgeon tomorrow afternoon, so I'll mention it to him.

I met earlier this week with a PS to talk about the mast/reconstruction I've been considering for a while now.  He's with one of the premier groups of docs in the US that perform the DIEP flap procedure.  I've finally decided to go ahead with the surgery, and now I'm just waiting to find out about insurance coverage.  If all goes well, I'll likely have it done in December during the Christmas break.  Fingers crossed!

Well, I've got lots of errands to run today, so I'm off.  Good to hear from all of you - you're always in my thoughts and so close to my heart!

    Hugs,

    Shelby

Wow this thread has been a little slow... no posts since my last one in October and here is exactly one month since I last posted here.  Where is everyone?  Thanksgiving is soon and we have so much to be thankful for.  I have been down today and feeling a little sorry for myself... I had a job interview last Thursday and I thought for sure they were going to call me.  I knew the lady that interviewed me, but here it is Tuesday and it's been 3 days and I still haven't heard.  Am I expecting too much too soon.  My old job told me they called to verify my employment.  I never did that when I interviewed unless I was going to actually hire someone.  Am I just not being patient enough?  I really need a job.  But I come here and we have all come through so much and accomplished so much in such a short time.  We are achievers and winners!! We are alive and have our families... there are those that aren't.  I realize that I shouldn't quibble over a job.  God is going to take care of that and I have to have that trust in him.  Much love to you all!!!

    Hi dear sisters,

These days passed by two years from my pathological report. I have had lumpectomy, 6 cycles of Taxotere, 30 rads, and I'm 20 months on Femara. Sometimes I've had hard times, cancer is still every day in my mind, and I'm seeing many ladies following the same proceeding...

Wishing all of us the best for the future!

Renee, Keep the faith.  Perhaps you were the first interviewed and they have a few to do...perhaps give them a call to remind them you are still interested...

Well, it is time to reflect and as this year comes to a close, I am hoping that we are all in better places than two years ago.

I am coming up on my two year anniversary of my last chemo.  It now seems like a million years ago.  Especially since I didn't have to go through any reconstruction as some of you are still dealing with.  Shelby, I know you had surgery today and I hope all is well.

As more and more time passes, cancer is not consuming me anymore and life is almost back to normal.  I feel that I am healthier now, than before cancer.  I Zumba twice a week or more and plan on adding more as the new year starts.

Merry Christmas to everyone and that you all have an even better New Year.

Love you all and couldn't have made it this far without you.

Juanelle I definitely feel the same way about you and so many of the other ladies.  You all have been such a wonderful support system.  Life is not consumed by BC anymore and it does go on.  I see so many of you on the other website.  I'm thankful I get to visit with you there, but so glad I still get to come here when I need to.  I do admit it's not as often as it use to be.  It is more than many do.  There are some that don't come at all and had health problems I wonder what has become of them.  I wish they would check in with us and let us know if they are o.k. but our father above knows and I pray for them.

Take care everyone and as I said before have a very Merry Christmas.

For some reason I haven't been getting a post saying there were any?  I mainly post on the LE thread.  I just had my scans the end of November.  Bone, Brain Adominal, Pelvis all clear.  I have to have a repeat chest scan in March.  A small pin size area is in question.  However I was sick on Oct. 26 with an URI and my scan was on Nov. 21.  They are hoping it was just some left over inflamation showing up.

Yesteray I went to a new LE clinic.  Oh joy the gift that keeps on giving.  Not only do I have it in my arm but I now have Stage II Lymphedema in my calf.  I will spend the first two weeks in January wrapped!

Otherwise.  I am getting better and I feel much better than I did last year.  Just real busy with my 8 year old.   What was I thinking signing her up for so many activities.

Hope everybody has a great Christmas.

KittyDog sorry to hear  you are having so much trouble with Lymphedema.  I feel very fortunate that I have not had that problem.  Maybe there will be improvement next year.

Renee, did you decide on the finger food for the party?  There are many good things to choose.  I do enjoy keeping up on FB but we can be so much more personal here.  Even though I don't get on as much as I should.

Happy New Year to all my dear sisters. I think it is good that we are busy with our lives and don,t post as much as we did. We are the veterans, the ones with all the answers and experience. NOT! Nothing changes, all the same old fear and anxiety shows up before our routine appointments and tests. While I am happy to be on a six month schedule with my medical oncologist it makes me nervous to wait so long between reassurances. Guess I am never satisfied.

We had a great Christmas and I got to go to CA for a couple days to see DD and her family. I wish they lived closer. I used to always feel like there was plenty of time to spend with loved ones, plenty of time to say or do the things I want, plenty of time To tell everyone how much I love them.

Sure don't feel that way anymore. Time is precious. Seize the moment. Hope for the best, plan for the worst.

I'm going to do a better job in 2012. I'm going to be more loving, reach out more, might even try to clean my house! Thinking of all of you with love.

michele, don't have any experience with the tram flap recon, but I am sure you will get answers to your questions.  Hope hope you had a very good Christmas and New Year.  Mine has been great.

Pam, good to hear from you and I like your list of things to do better in 2012.  We have stayed around the house and gotten lots of things done, it feels good to accomplish some of the things we have been putting off.  Maybe the momentum will keep us going.

Happy New Year to all and let's all have a great 2012.

Hi to all my sisters :)

Things are going pretty well for me.  I had a BMX with DIEP recon surgery on Dec. 20.  I had hoped to get back to work this week, but that was not in the cards!  My next goal is to start back next week, working only half days.  We'll see, but I'm not optimistic, considering that I still have a drain in my hip that is putting out over 100 cc's of fluid every day.  I think I would be ok as long as I didn't have to do any lifting or much walking.  My abdomen gets really uncomfortable after about 10-15 minutes of standing/walking, and I have to sit down.  I wonder if they would let me go back to work if I still have that drain?  I'm willing to try!  I'm going crazy here at home.

Other than that drain, I'm really pleased with the results.  Of course, it will take another month or so for everything to settle down a bit.  My breasts are still kind of swollen, but not painfully so.  I'm still hoping for that flat belly, but it's still pretty puffy - probably all of that fluid!

I'm really looking forward to going back to work.  I never thought I would say that in my life!  I do so love that job, and I miss it when I'm stuck here at home.  My colleagues have been absolutely wonderful.  They organized a meal delivery, so I have gotten dinner brought to my house every day since New Year's Day, and they will continue it through the end of the month, even if I come back to work!  I was so touched that they cared so much.  It has been nice having the visitors, too, since I feel kind of isolated here at home.

My oldest daughter got her driver's license last month, and today, we went out and got her an old, cheap used car and she couldn't be more thrilled!  Not only is she happy to have her own wheels, but I'm happy that I won't have to drive her and her sister everywhere.  (One condition of getting the car is that she has to play chauffeur for her sister if i can't drive her somewhere.)  I can't believe she's growing up so fast!  And I'm so grateful to be around to see it.

OK, who's next for roll call?
