    Laura,

God Bless You. I am so sorry to hear of your complications, and will have you in my prayers. I have been reading your blog, and before I read your profile I thought, wow, she is such an incredible writer! You capture moments so well. That aside, remember I am also your triple neg sister, so I understood much of what you wrote. Pull on the love of your family, and take this time to recover. Please keep us posted, and know we are all pulling for you.

Holy Saturday tends to get lost in the shuffle of Easter.  You've had the drama of Holy Thursday and Good Friday, then there's quiet Saturday, then bang His is Risen!  To me, it has two similar meanings... I think of the Apostles and Jesus' other followers scared out of their minds after what happened the day before.  I'm sure there were a lot of hot headed and fearful emotions shared among them.  "What happened? Were we dupped? How could He die if he was God?  What's the meaning of it all?"  They feared for their lives.  And the last who remained at the Cross and tended to His body, was the first to see Him.  St. Mary Magdalene is a powerful example for us.

There's so much meaning there for our lives today.  We seem to live in a Holy Saturday life.  The difference between what we have and what the Apostles had is knowing the end of the story ... Christ Rose from the Dead!  Sometimes many of us live in the Holy Saturday moment, where we've been let down by someone or a group, betrayed, someone close to us has died, we've become ill... and we will say "What happened?  Was I dupped?  How could God do this to me, if He's really God and loves me, why did this happen?"  But we do have hope.  We *do* know the end of the story.  Hold fast to that.  Christ *did* rise from the dead.  Hope in tomorrow.  Hope in His Easter and our Easter.

Even for a little while, out of our busy Saturday of cleaning and getting ready for Easter Sunday, take some time out of your secular Saturday and meditate on what just happened and what will happen... we can all use some cleaning and tidying of our souls so we can be ready for our Easter... the Bridegroom will come, be ready.  God loves you.

    Have a blessed Holy Saturday!

    Sweet Sisters,

Good Friday services at Cathedral were so very special this year! Very long, but so very special! We are a large parish so even with many servers for communion, the services for Holy Days are usually long.

The Veneration of the Cross is so special to me. We have a life sized hand carved cross with Jesus nailed to it. It is taken down only for Good Friday and placed in the center isle. It is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen but it just breaks my heart everytime I do see it.

I generally do not feel worthy to do more than kiss the feet of Jesus during the veneration, but this year, I was unable to kneel (with any stability) so close to the floor so I had to kiss his nail pierced hand. This is so real. so true, so happening right now for me and is an experience I have difficulty describing. This is the "thing" which makes it real and true for me - seeing and touching Our Lord as he hangs from his cross. I am always completely overwhelmed that he did this for me, for all of us as a gift in order that we might have our sins forgiven and have life eternal with him.

I hope this Holy Saturday gives everyone a bit of time to reflect on the events of yesterday so they may prepare to celebrate the risen Lord tomorrow! Please add our Bishop, Bishop Choby, to your prayers for he is unwell and having tremendous difficulty in walking.

    Love and Hugs to All.

    Christ is Risen

He walked awhile among us.  To comfort and to bless,  And touched the earth with beauty,

With love and tenderness.  He rose in shining glory, His promise ti fulfill, And healing, helping, guiding.

    He walks among us still.

    Happy Easter All,

and in addition to the joy of this day of Jesus rising...there is the hope that Jesus brought to the world.

I see great hope and movement on this thread.  I am tickled each time I come on here and see the new faces, mixing with the "old" (sorry gals, but I think we know that old is good :) I see people coming in who have been praying alongside and it is wonderful wonderful.

This is about witnessing Jesus when we all come together to pray and support each other. I know I am probably the least learned here regarding the Bible and history, but I feel we do honor God when we gather together, just as others have gathered before us.

Have a beautiful day, be it with family or alone. (Because we are never alone...) so share your joys and stories aloud with Christ today.

I will spend some time in my "garden," which is starting to take root so to speak. I have planted some seeds, set up some herbs and small plants which I bought at the farmer's market...I hope to create a beautiful magical space on the porch, complete with "fairy lights..."

and all I can say is, I am so blessed to have this day to create and grow.

    Thank you God.

special prayers go out to Laura, who had complications during her surgery, may she be on the road to recovery in body and spirit.

for the family of our Jeannine, may they have comfort and peace today.

for Audrey's family, may they be held close, especially her son, may he be surrounded by Angels and receive their messages of love and support.

Wishing each of you a Happy and Blessed Easter.

I wanted to share a thought from the sermon this morning.  It was about a small child admiring the stained glass windows in a church, and her mother asking if she knew what a saint is, and the child replied that "Saints are people who let the light shine through."

I love to come here because you all let the Light shine through in your words and your lives.  I am blessed to know you.

Happy, Blessed Easter everyone!  Prayers and love to everyone.  Hope you are recovering Beagles Girl.  That sounds like a very tough surgery.

Theresa, I was at Wildwood Crest.  My brother has a house there.  My cousins do as well, so saw lots of ffamily this weekend.  My cousin has 14 grandchildren from infant to 13 and one on the way, and they were all there.  Saturday was cold and windy, but today was beautiful!  Enjoyed a nice long walk along the beach with my DH and dog.  It is such a different atmosphere there now with almost no one on the beach than in the summer hustle and bustle.  Very peaceful and beautiful.

If God is for us who can be against? This was the beginning of the priest's homily this morning.  I prayed for us all today, and I tried to remember each of your names or log on names.  Funny how chemo brain gets me each time, but not this time, I could see all your names on the posts! God Bless each of you on this blessed day and continue to bless you through your journeys.

Happy easter to everyone so many beautiful thoughts.

Laura(beagles) so sorry you had such a tough experience, but glad to see you able to be back that says a whole lot. Prayers for NO NO NO more complications.

Theresa please add your thought about Holy Sat. to the prayer thread. Very appropriate to our situations. I still owe you a pm.

Betty, wow I felt in my heart that when I put down the location of the Fatima Shrine, there would be someone close. That will make two novena's in a row that Intentions will be taken too. I think that is so significant.

Tori-----hope you are healed and that the shingles are GONE.

Jv hope your seroma is no longer is a problem. I have a question for your doc. Since mine was handled by passive reabsorption, are there any studies that show any connection with LE increase with passive reabsorption?  I had the added injury of catching Greg, But evrytime I do any work I do get axillary pressure and upper inner arm and breast pressure--------So, it was double whammy. If I asked my doc, I already know what he believes in. If she's willing to just give her thoughts on it Thank her for me. She may side step it--------if she does no big deal. Thanks

Squid----should you be in dirt yet----how far out from surgery are you sweetie?  Where gloves, please, please  What are you planting? and what zone are you in ? I know Washington, but not gardening zone. My sis is a gardening wiz. One of my favorites that she planted I think it's name is coreoporis(sic)? Wispy &delicate.

Ren----check on the notes re: the next two novena

mnmom---please come join us------you don't need to be Catholic. also add your intentions on the intention thread if you would like

    Sagina ------beautiful thought

Kay ------chemo continueing to go well? I think you are heading for your 4th Such a blessing that you are tolerating ------Can't say tolerating so well-I know you get what I mean.

    lmfsm--you sound better--------:)))) hugs

    SAS,

Sorry that sleep is evading you! You are right...I should be wearing gloves...I didn't have too much dirt time, but that's all it takes. I was doing my LE exercises last night....cause I need to.

    All,

I'm up because I am back to work today....so 20 days nicotine free. still cranky about it, pouting at regular intervals, but not as much of a danger to the general public. No more than usual.... :) I miss my little nicotine "candy." My mantra needs to be "nipples or nicorette." My good friend (MD) suggested that I take two pieces of nicorette and use them for nipples. Dr.'s orders!

I kid, but know that I am not alone in this struggle with nicotine, smoking and addictions in general. Theresa, you had mentioned the need to take better care of ourselves from something I had written. This is such a foreign concept to me, and becoming more of a counseling topic.

as women, we have so many care taker roles. I bet it must be incredibly hard to take time for yourself when you are taking care of your children and family, but I am going to toss this idea out for all.

The belief that our bodies, mind and spirit are linked (which I know intellectually,) but do not put into practice. So what does it look like when you are taking care of yourself? What do you do each day that benefits your health and body?

so with those thoughts....off to work!

Have a blessed safe day all :)

Happy Easter Season!  We were very busy yesterday, with Mass, then the Fire Hall's annual Pancake Breakfast, then finding the Easter Baskets, then Egg Hunt, dinner, thunderstorm, and late afternoon gardening.  My son and DIL brought our granddog over, who LOVES our Lucy.  Poor Lucy is getting old and is very good as Nanny-dog.  Andrew says, "Dood, Lucy is a PIT BULL, she can put your entire head in her mouth!" :-)  She's so gentle with him.  So she knows she's not allowed on the furniture, but has learned that when Doodle is there, and Mama is sitting on the sofa, and Daddy isn't around, she can hop up on the sofa and I'll protect her from Doodle (a pug)! She's so funny... thinking she's a lap dog yet she's this big Pit-Beagle.

Sheila - when I get home, I'll find the Holy Saturday post and post it to the Prayers page.  I had such difficulty with Good Friday's mediations in the church (as posted earlier), so I decided to go to the Monastery on Holy Saturday to do my Morning Prayer from Liturgy of the Hours.  As my luck would have it, one of the monks was working on the monk's benches in the chapel.  They work and do everything in slow motion compared to us.  So he slowly walks into the chapel with a piece of wood and a hammer.  Places the wood on the bench, bang, bang, bang.  Slowly walks back to the hallway.  A minute later, he comes back with more wood.  Bang, bang, bang.  He did that about 3 more times, then left the chapel area for good.  I could still hear him rustling around in the hall. LOL!!  God's trying to tell me something.  Becky told me that God's trying to tell me that I don't need quiet to meditate.  If I don't, then I sure need some training!

Novena - yes, we start St. Therese on Thursday, April 28.  I have some intentions from last week's post and will check on Wednesday night to make sure everyone posted to the Intentions thread.  If not, I'll post them for you, so that as Sheila said, you can print out those pages or cut and paste and take them to the Shrines.

Follow up on the St. Joseph novena --- I had asked for help in selling our NJ house and we got an offer/counter offer in with the bank (short sale) during his novena, but not an approval.  Last week, we got the bank approval!  Now we need the buyers to confirm that they won't back out now, then we'll be settling by the end of May!  Thank you St. Joseph in advance!!  Thank you sisters, for helping out with the novena!

Traci - congratulations on 20 successful days!!!  You can do it!  I've been thinking more about the food addiction thing.  It's so powerful.  I need to lose some weight, even though I feel like I'm fighting against nature (menopause) and chemicals (tamoxifen).  At minimum, I need to step up the exercise.

Sheila - I'm so sorry that sleep is still evading you. :-(

    Blessings to everyone today.
