I am doing well, thanks be to God! I am currently on xeloda and herceptin after a nasty allergic reaction to tykerb. UPenn is getting a tdm1 trial so I'll be looking into that. Planning and praying on a family trip to Florida the first week of April. I continue to work, attend prayer meetings and bible studies, and of course, love my family. God is good!

Hello everyone! I am two-thirds of the way through radiation. Only 10 more treatments to go!!  I'll be glad to put that behind me. So far, I haven't had any issues other than being very tired in the late afternoon and evening. Thank God!

God bless you all!  Have a great day.

I apologize if this was brought up before, but I just want to let you know that the Susan G. Komen organization donates money to Planned Parenthood - the abortion provider.  http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/13/behind-the-pink-ribbon-komens-ties-with-planned-parenthood/

Kay - St. Jude today?  My Catholic Calendar doesn't show that.  I'll have to look it up.

Penny - yes, I've heard that about Komen and do not support.  It's a shame.

I had a dental visit this morning -- a filling.  Oh, I hate that!!!  You'd think, with getting 2 shots /month for allergies and all the pokes and prods from cancer, that a filling would be a piece of cake!  But No!

Michelle - hang in there!! :-)

Well Kay-----we should find out St Jude's feast day-------It was so successful last year----remember we started it on his Feast Day and didn't even realize it. I'm definitely open to it.

To all, I thought about the controversy I brought here from CatholicMatch.com. Now I wish I hadn't. It was lovely for you all to meet Karla the nurse that start the beginning of Namaste.

What we have said and Laura who started the thread is that this is an ecumenical thread. All are welcome. We have had many faiths represented here. We also repeatedly said that we accept all. CM.com is oh so strict. That has not been our goal we want to share and learn from each other and give each other support. So, ecumenical is a receiving of all-----That's who we are.

    Michello----that's so great-----10 and counting

Kay how is the LE going? Improvement.

If we do st Jude's novena when do we start? Namaste and Pax. Sheila

Theresa60 and mkkjd60, maybe you would like this information ;my daily book, is The Imitation of Christ by Thomas Kempis , he was a German monk, he was born in 1380 and died in 1471,  this devotional book was published around 1418/27.

I was given one for my First Communion., also if you have Netflix they have very good films of Saints.

That Jesus blessed you and Our Lady protects all of you.

I don't think we've done a novena to St. Peregrine.  At least since I've been here.  Just a suggestion.

Dreaming - The Imitation of Christ is EXCELLENT!  My husband reads from it all the time and sends me nuggets from it.

Ellie - I'm sooooo sorry about your break up.  That's so hard... no matter who initiated the break up.  But try to think --- God's will be done.  When I started dating after my annulment, I had to keep repeating that to myself whenever a break up happened.  It was a sorrow I had to walk through but Jesus was walking beside me.  You will walk through this too, and come out more aware of who you are.  Trust in the Holy Spirit to reveal that to you.

Sheila - it wasn't controversy... it was conversation.  No one was mean spirited here... I don't think.  We have all been through one of the most horrible diseases afflicting mankind, we have all found each other as Catholics and non-Catholics because we know there is a God who loves us and wants to teach us personally with every happening in our lives.  Just as each of our cancer is different and unique, so is our relationship with God.  Christ taught in parables so we could intimately understand Him.  He continues to do so today in our daily lives.  We need to be open to that teaching, no matter how hard it is to swallow.

Some people have very strong opinions about their faith and their religion.... and sometimes that comes out as a negative.  Sometimes that strong message needs to be heard by some stubborn people.  Sometimes softer messages need to be heard by other people.  You can look at the different Archangels and see the differences in the way they convey messages to us historically.  Gabriel was much more stern with Zachariah than he was with Mary.  Every one of us has a role to play for God... some sweeter, like Mary and St. Clare, and some stronger, like John the Baptist and St. Peter.

I have been considering veiling at Mass during the Eucharistic prayer until the Host is returned to the tabernacle.  I was a young lass when that requirement was relaxed, and like many traditions in life, when the meaning is lost, it's sometimes good to fast from it until the meaning is returned.  The meaning behind the veil, to me, comes from the words we say before receiving Christ in the Eucharist --- Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof, only say the word and my soul shall be healed.  I am not worthy... none of us are, really.  I believe the symbolism behind covering my head might deepen my prayer and awareness of Who I am in the presence of at that moment in that church.  I know many women of many faiths wear prayer shawls when they are in personal prayer.  So that's my discernment... I might dive into it for Lent.  I'd like to find a veil that suits my intentions and my personality. :-)  I wonder if there are Franciscan veils! More research!

St. Peregrine would be great for his feast day on May 1.... we need to remember that!!

With the March for Life coming up on 1/23, can we start a Novena to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, as our Mother, as our Mediator, as the woman who said YES to God despite the discomfort it would bring to her and her family?  We could start Sunday 1/15 and end on 1/23 if you'd like.  This would be a prayer for all life-related intentions we may have, from the end of abortion, to the cure of cancer, to the healing and repentance of the women who have had abortions, to the respect for end of life issues, etc.  Just let me know and I will post it.

Theresa---I hope that I didn't convey anyone here was mean spirited-------totally oposite. Here there has always been support for anyone that came. My comments were about CatholicMatch.com.

LMFSM----so sorry about the break up. Will keep you in my prayers. Wish I had words to ease your pain. Best I can come up with is Love and Hugs---------Well perhaps one thing, if you hope to meet someone new, you need to leave the house. I keep hoping , but finally realized I wasn't leaving the house. Sounds simple enough, but took me awhile to have it dawn on me.

Day One - Novena Prayer to the Immaculate Heart of Mary
    Mary said Yes!

O Most Blessed Mother, heart of love, heart of mercy, ever listening, caring, consoling, hear our prayer. As your children, we implore your intercession with Jesus your Son. Receive with understanding and compassion the petitions we place before you today, especially ...

We pray for conversion of our earthly brother's and sister's hearts to know the truth that all human beings are created equal and are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, among which is the right to life; life of each human being shall be preserved and protected from that human being's biological beginning when the Father's sperm fertilizes the Mother's ovum, throughout the natural continuum of that human being's life by all available ordinary means and reasonable efforts, and shall be preserved and protected at each stage of the life continuum to the same extent as at each and every other stage regardless of state of health or condition of dependency.

I pray for a special intention that the life of a co-worker be restored to perfect health as he fights hepatitis.
I pray for all of our brothers and sisters who are enduring the misery of cancer to be healed by the hands of Christ, mentally, physically and spiritually.
I pray for all those souls who you are calling home, that they can do so with peace and dignity.
I pray that all natural and unnatural barriers to finding a cure for cancer be removed.

We are comforted in knowing your heart is ever open to those who ask for your prayer. We trust to your gentle care and intercession, those whom we love and who are sick or lonely or hurting. Help all of us, Holy Mother, to bear our burdens in this life until we may share eternal life and peace with God forever.
    Amen.

I hope you can join me in the novena to the Immaculate Heart of Mary for life issues and any other intentions you may have.  You are welcome to post your intentions here, or the Catholic Prayers page, or keep them in your heart and they will still be heard.  The last (9th) day will be 1/23/12, March for Life day.

We had our SFO meeting yesterday and one of the topics of my formation studies was Love.  Very powerful lesson and I had a lively discussion with my teacher.

Love is willing true goodness for someone.  How easy that is to fulfill with those with whom we agree and like being with.  How we trip and fall over loving those with whom we don't.... with those we fear, with those who get in our way, with those who disgust us.  And out of Love of Christ, how we are being called to daily conversion to step out of our comfort zone to do something for Him... whether it's helping in a soup kitchen, providing a donation that hurts the pocket book, defending the faith when you hear someone put down Catholics or priests or Jesus, adopting a child, smiling at a stranger, teaching religion, bringing comfort to the sick.  It goes on and on because we all have a very different calling and it could change from day to day ... we are all members of the body of Christ.

Pax et bonum!  Have a blessed Sunday!

    Sisters and Brother Frank,

I have learned that a former student of mine, Thomas Lawrence, was tragically killed in an auto accideent last night. I haven't seenTommy in several years but remember him as a joyful, kind, and loving little fifth grade boy back in 1999. He was, at that time, a student at St. Anne Catholic School in Nashville where I was a teacher.

Please pray for the repose of his soul and for the Lord's loving comfort for his parents, Thomas and Teresa, and his brother and sister.

    Sandy

Have been away from the boards for a while. Will go back and catch up.  Sending prayers for each of your intentions.

Funny how it feels like i've been on vacation or something, and now I"m home with family.  Each of you is an extension of my own.  I've grown to truly appreciate and love you all.  Just like with my sister and brother, parents, and my child, I want to check in and see how everyone is.  Sharing my daily "phone call" with each of you as I thank Jesus for the daily bread of life.

I'm so sorry Michelle. It has been quite a week!

Will someone be able to post the Novena tomorrow and include Michelle's intention? My laptop ended up with a virus and our IT people have it for a day or two? I'm using my android and it's cumbersome.

Skip has minor surgery tomorrow morning. Can you keep him in your prayers?

    God's peace to you all!

Michello----thanks for doing the novena Please include James who was seriously burned a few weeks ago. Also, a friend of Veggy's that is in the final days of BC. let hope for the loss of the people we care about, not cause us despair.  Remember all the children whose lives weren't allowed to be.
