Redheaded1 Prayers for you and your Dad. Do you have "elder mediation" in the states? Here there are some non-profit mediation groups who can act as a buffer in a very difficult situation like you have. HopefullyGod will help you to see the best way forward. God bless you and yours. XXX

I'm hoping all felt the love of Jesus & His blessings on Thanksgiving Day....and of course, that goes for every day :).

Feline...how I wish we could've all been there to cheer for you at your graduation! To have accomplished this, while taking care of yourself, DH & a family....oh my!!!

Grammy....I hope DIL had a marvelous birthday & Thanksgiving dinner with your family was yummy! Our dinner was scheduled for 2:30, but I cook my turkey w/a German dressing overnight & it was done at 9 (:->), so we ate earlier!

Penny...I'm glad you had a reprieve from tx but am sad you were feeling "under the weather"...I think my taking Claritin every day helped me to not get the sore throats, headaches, crummy feeling. I had seasonal allergies in the spring but on chemo, it just seemed I was more "allergy feeling" all the time. I don't like taking meds but my onc assured me Claritin was not a problem....maybe worth a try? I am praying so hard for good scans Tues!!!! You're a very special sister...God..hear our prayers!

Red...bless you for caring for your dad. Maybe you'll be surprised that he will understand your concern & care for him is love...another prayer :). So happy your tests look great & hope the ear "noise" goes away...or at least you find out if it's the arimidex that's causing it.

Elaine...being a school secretary, I remember the first 2 autistic children I met...4th & 5th graders, in 1990. It was a whole new experience & the teachers with them were amazing, but I wondered what life would be like at home. As the years went by, and the number of autistic children grew, I learned so much more about how routine & security are so important....and the devotion to their loved ones...so I can imagine even more now, that he's grappling with your dx. I hope you have support maybe from family, to help at home. Love & hope that, I think Penny said, this too shall pass.

I'm thinking the next Novena begins tomorrow....thank heavens!

I had a good meeting with my onc on Wed. He gives me such hope...I do believe God had His hand in my being turned over to this doctor. I feel such peace with my new regimen. And yes, Feline, my little grandies give me lots of reasons to smile...and shake my head :)

    Love to all!

Happy 1st Sunday of Advent! :-) Penny

The word Advent is from the Latin adventus for "coming" and is associated with the four weeks of preparation for Christmas. Advent always contains four Sundays, beginning on the Sunday nearest the feast of St. Andrew the Apostle, (November 30) and continuing until December 24. It blends together a penitential spirit, very similar to Lent, a liturgical theme of preparation for the Second and Final Coming of the Lord, called the Parousia, and a joyful theme of getting ready for the Bethlehem event.

Since the 900s Advent has been considered the beginning of the Church year. This does not mean that Advent is the most important time of the year. Easter has always had this honor.

The traditional color of Advent is purple or violet which symbolizes the penitential spirit. Religious traditions associated with Advent express all these themes. - EWTN

Penny- thank you for that explanation of Advent. . My grandson turned age 4 today so this day will always be my reminder of the start of Advent season.Purple also happens to be my favorite color . May Immaculate Mary intervene for us w/The Lord and bless us w/the joy of season. Stay strong for Jesus.

Bad news. More tumor growth. Waiting to hear back from oncologist to see what to try next. So much else to be thankful to God for - at least I feel ok. 🙏

Not the news we'd all hoped to hear. I know there's a regimen that is going to work, Penny, & I ask God to guide your doctor's decision in what meds to use. You are strong-blessed-to have healed in many situations that others may not have recovered from. We're here to walk this path with you...always! Love & prayers, my friend. XOXO

Hope all are having Blessed Christmas seasons. Just wanted to update everyone on me (in case you're interested lol). I go for a SIR-spheres procedure on the 23rd. Tiny microscopic beads of radiation will be sent through the hepatic artery to the tumors in my liver in one lobe. I may have to go back for the other lobe. It's outpatient. I went for a simulation and it's very doable. Worst side effect was fatigue. I also start Xeloda on the 22nd for two weeks because it's synergistic with the spheres.

    Prayers for all,

    Penny :-)

Penny- so happy to hear they are finding a new way to treat. I had never heard of those type of beads before. Sounds promising. I was all set to start Zeloda in the spring because of a bad looking MRI but after then getting all the CT scans they discovered it much less than thought so I got a reprieve. I may still have to go that way down the road. I pray or a blessed and happy Christmas holiday season for you and my friends here. Happy

Penny OF COURSE WE ARE INTERESTED !

Wishing you the very best with this new treatment. I have heard of the micro beads, they are used in some prostate cancer treatments so ran across those while reading about hubby's cancer. Praying for a good result for you.

Penny: many prayers for you that your new treatment plan does the trick. Now that you have a plan, I hope that you feel more at peace.

Update on my son with autism: His behavior has moderated in the past two weeks -- he still has days where he is agitated and unfocused, but his episodes of violence (throwing things) are much fewer, and he's been having more good days. Now, if I can only get him in to see his new doctor (appointments are backed up). Thank you for your prayers.

Penny...they moved fast at finding a new regimen-that's good!!! We want them to take good care of you & it seems they are! I really don't know much about the seeds but I'm praying this works, along w/xeloda. Tis the season of fatigue, so you may not even notice...and the season of new birth & life everlasting!!!! Praying we all experience Christ's birthday with renewed hope & peace! We had Reconciliation last night...a most beautiful message of forgiveness, love & salvation!

Tomorrow I am taking my 87 year old father to the doctor to have him evaluated for physical and mental health concerns.  My hope and fear is that the doctor will indicate that my father should stop driving, and recommend guardianship over my father's financial and physical care.  My father is totally resistant to all of these things.  My father  still thinks its ok for him to live alone.   I don't know how this works, but I know that my father will never forgive me for my efforts to keep him safe when he believes that he already is.    It is an impossible situation about to become worse.  I am pretty much his only family as his only child, who never married.  His siblings all reside out of the state. He is so angry and hateful to me when I try to help him with day to day tasks.   Please pray for me and my father.   I am more stressed over this than I was the B.C.

Redheaded -- I have added you to my prayer list. I'm sorry that your Dad is so resistant to your efforts to help him. I hope that his doctor will find a way to bolster your position so it is more acceptable to your Dad. You might also want to talk to a lawyer about guardianship. Many blessings to you both.

Thanks ladies, it means a lot to read your words.  In IL you have to have a doctors statement to pursue guardianship, so this is the first step.

I guess I do not pass go---on pursuing guardianship.  Doctor breezed in asked my dad what day of the week it was, who is the president, is it a.m. or pm., asked about his driving, told him he didn't want him driving after dark, or on busy streets, had him put his foot on his hand and press down like it was a gas peddle, etc.  Asked him to describe his typical day......Told him he wasn't going to report him to the Secretary of State, but he would be evaluating him at each 3 month visit.     so we chatted about his blood work, etc. and my Dad got angry and told me to shut up when I said I have a question, and kept trying to talk about things from 1976, etc. and doctor sent us down for a lab PSA and said see you in three months.  I tried to ask Dr. about confusion in the evening (clearly sundowning) and dr. cuts me off and says that's why I am saying no evening driving.   So I said, Dad will you do as he says, and dad says I'll consider it....So that ticked off doctor, is my guess.  Then the tech came in with the lab order and leaned over and said, Dr. is going to send a letter to Sec. of State Driver Services.   So that's a great thing, right---tell your patient you aren't, but then do it.....  I just keep telling myself God's hand is in this someplace and he hears my prayers....

Update from SIR-spheres procedure: I'm doing ok - thanks be to God! Next appointment January 28th. Procedure went well. Didn't feel a thing until recovery - had to lay flat on back with one leg straight for four hours. It caused such bad back pain plus I had to go to the bathroom - wasn't allowed up for that so I had to use a bedpan - how humiliating. I may have to do it again for the other liver lobe. But it could've all been worse so I'm grateful to God for getting me through it. And I'm grateful for all your prayers. Thanks, all. <3

penny- I am so glad the procedure went off OK despite the back pain and my prayers for the good things it will do. I made it to Christmas Day Mass today and was rather glad we glad we had a help out priest who used incense. The smells and the carols brought me joy.

feelingfeline- Wishing you a happy and peaceful Xmas season too. I think that your same nativity picture was being passed along on FB also as Catholics and Christian both want to stress what Christmas is about..

    Peace be with us all.

Penny...it's hard to not move your legs..my back hurts thinking about it & they probably pumped you full of liquids so my guess is the bed pan was really a must :-). Hope you're rested & hoping Jan 28 appt shows great results!!!

    Feline...I love the picture...radiant beams!

Rene...when we weren't able to go to the children's mass at 5:30 on Christmas Eve, due to no seats (in the cathedral, an hour before mass!), Tom & I went this morning & for a fleeting moment, thought of calling you to go with us. It was a most beautiful mass...and we always have lots of incense :). Maybe New Year's Day mass? Our choir director is retiring after 33 years. It was announced on NPR. He's James Savage...and his choirs are truly amazing.

I hope you all had a blessed Christmas.

Happy, Blessed New year to everyone.   I think I had an angel prescence in my bedroom yesterday.  I've been sick and over the headboard of my bed, I have a china Madonna plaque and on the wall opposite the foot of the bed, is a mirror.  When I woke up I saw a perfect halo of yellow and blue in the mirror.  (no Madonna, just the light in a circle rimmed with colors).  I must have laid there for an hour just looking at it.
