2Fun, next year let's meet in Baldwinsville for the 5k. It was billed as a run/ walk so lots of different levels in the event!

Ruth, they're especially weird in the springtime!

LB, sounds like you're a good friend.

    Ran 5k this afternoon.

thanks lilac, I appreciate the link. I'll look into it.

Falconer, if my knee feels better you can count me in for the walk. Would be nice to meet you!

I forced myself to go to the pool and do 45 min of aquatic exercise. They leave 2 lanes open so I did my own private class. Thank goodness I know what exercises I should do.

Yes ruth, 6th graders are interesting. Just goes to show what hormones can do to you!

Hi all, another nice Spring day, perfect for a walk after work. Was cooped up all day at a meeting with a "working lunch" meaning hours of sitting. Fresh air was better than gym air 2nite.

Falconer, so far I have done five years of tamoxifen and three of anastrozole. My onc rec two more years AI and that's ok by me.

2FUN, you have been through the mill and reads that swimming/aqua is just what you needed - pleased for you. Badger, my hat is off to you and all who stick with Al's. Falconer, my friend is supportive like you and by the way, I looked up your yoga studio - excellent (liked your photo too). Is that where you did your YTT? I'm so remiss (an feel guilty) in not practicing my adjustments and with no one available (hope DS will be my guinea pig when he returns for the summer) so I really need to beat about and find some folks to work on. Since YTT 1st. module, feel so insecure about my practice and myself in general - good grief, been hard being me & in my yoga head way too much and not enough on the mat

Not to stir the pot too much, but this photo cracked me up so..hope at least get a smile! Have a super weekend everyone!

    LOL!

I am taking a little break from a working morning. Some friends of ours are having a retirement auction and we're been hauling stuff fro m their business to the auction site. I started at 9:00 and had 10,000 steps by 11,000! I'll go back and see if they need any help unpacking, arranging etc. after lunch. They have ALOT of things. I hope most of it sells, because whatever is left will have to be hauled elsewhere! If I am not too pooped, I'll go to Dance Attack tonight.

LB, Yes that is where I did my training. I looked into a few other places but loved that Linda also had knowledge of Ayurveda. As you would imagine, Woodstock has lots of yoga, including some real celebrities, so I have had lots of interesting experiences over the years. You'll get used to adjustments. Just practice, like anything.

Hello everyone! I had my final radiation treatment today! So happy to be past it. I've been having partial breast accelerated treatments. It delivers the same amount of radiation in only 5 treatments. I've had almost no side effects so far, though they tell me that in a few weeks, I may.

My only exercise this week has been to get myself into Manhattan for my treatments on public transportation. I have to walk a good part of the way. It's not really a workout, but all the segments put together comes to about 2 miles - usually rushing to catch a subway or ferry. Between that and the treatments, I've just been fairly tired and crashing early.

Glad to see everyone enjoying some spring weather. Lilac Blue, that picture is hilarious!

So, I have to find another pool this coming week. Long story short, the pool where I have been lap swimming for the last 15 years ended the individual memberships. There are other options here, but that pool was pretty nice. Sigh.

If the weather is good tomorrow, I'll spend the day in the garden.

I thought I posted last night but I don’t see it.

Falconer-congratulations to you and your daughter on a great run!

Pat- so sorry that your friend has joined our club. I have 2 friends who are newly diagnosed. I know you will be a great resource to her.

I have had no exercise. My mother in law has entered hospice care and I am spending my time at her bedside. We are pretty close. She is in the hospital so the nurses are handling her medical needs which is a great relief. Friends and family keep dropping by and it is a bittersweet time. This is the closest I have been to end of life care.

Ginger, very sorry about your mother in law.

ruthbru..... thank yuuuu! Now onto hormone therapy and reassessing a few life things. I was reading articles about recurrence probability last night. Diet and exercise are so important, as you all are showing me. Keeping my weight down is very hard for me, so I need to be vigilant.

((Ginger)) so sorry about your MIL. Bittersweet indeed. She sounds well-loved.

My onc was at the San Antonio BC Symposium this year. I know because I asked him about the study showing that seven years of an AI was as good as ten for disease-free survival. He pulled out his smartphone and showed me screen shots of the presentation; he was at that session! The study applied to people who took an AI for seven versus ten, so my five years on tamox wouldn't count. The extra two years of AI wouldn't benefit me statistically so he'll follow standard of care, which is to finish up the five years of AI.

    Congrats Poli!

Ginger, so sorry about your MIL.

Badger, my DIL (Oncology Fellow at NIH) was at that presentation in San Antonio too, texting me during the presentation! My son hadn't met her yet when I was diagnosed and undergoing active treatment, she would have been a good resource back then. I did 2 years of tamoxifen, and getting very close to 5 years of anastrazole, at which point I will be done!

Exercising on and off, not feeling all that great the last couple of days. And we are also on grandbaby watch, DD is in the hospital since yesterday, so should be soon! We live far away from her, so it's hard waiting for news. Beautiful day here, so I hope to get outside for a walk.

So sorry about your MIL, Ginger. Sending a hug your way.

Let us know when the baby has arrived, Pat. Exciting!

Poli, I am probably the only person in the world who could get 20,000 steps in one day and GAIN a pound (which I did yesterday......too many donuts for the workers!!).

I went to yoga this morning and am off to check out the auction in a few minutes. DH reports that they have a good crowd.

Ginger, thinking of you and sendng hugs your way.

Pat that is exciting-a new grand baby on the way!

Poliwogli yay for finishing rads. i am a recurrer and so I then did a lot of research. Not gaining weight and exercise are the two things that show up as preventative time and again, I also take baby aspiriin and vitamin D.

I did some weeding this morning, lots of squats, Then I went for a 23 minute run walk with my three sprint periods. Came home and did planks and a few push ups. The planks are pretty easy but not the oush ups.

Thanks, TwoHobbies. Yes, I've been seeing a lot of expert advice about weight management and exercise.

I worry about weight gain as a side effect of tamoxifen, which I'll be starting soon. Has anyone had that side effect? Have you been able to avoid gaining weight?

    Ginger...hugs to you. So sorry.

Pat...so exciting!! An early congrats to you and your family!

Hi to all!! Nice job on the workouts and exercise ladies!

Ran 9 miles today. My pace was actually very close to pre cancer long run pace! And was about 45 seconds per mile faster than last weeks long run pace. And I felt very good after my run today! Will run 11 or 12 miles next weekend and then I will cut back before the half. I can't believe my training is getting close to being done for this race!!

Wore this on my run today for all my pink sisters! A great organization in our state that gives to anyone recently diagnosed with breast cancer! pinkitforward.org

    Poli: Congratulations on finishing radiation.

Badger: Merlefest was awesome! Dh is still there and will return home tomorrow.

Hi Everyone! Did lots of walking at Merlefest. Came back today and push mowed the yard for 2 hours and 15 minutes. Getting ready to go to the beach tomorrow with my girlfriends.

(((Ginger))) my deep admiration for how you and family are traversing his difficult time. Falconer, you are right and have a friend meeting me today at the gym studio for adjustments practice - thanks! Wonderland, you are having so much fun - great! Pat, boy or girl? Congratulations! Runnermum yay on mileage. Like that shirt and looked up pinkitforward.org - terrific! Poliwogli, good on ya for rad completion and I've said before, a fortune can be made from a book on how to lose weight on tam or Al's. It's tricky to say the least, yet keeping a within normal limits BMI and ideal to try to keep it on the low end of the scale (who lives in an ideal world?). Time we eat and not eat plays a factor, check this clip and zoom to 14 minutes in: Just in from Pilatesclass and the weather sucks, drizzly, gray and chilly. Good day to do invoicing, practice adjustments and read Sunday papers, so a wave and high five to everyone...let's keep at it!

Morning everyone! I have been back walk/running for a few weeks now. Going much slower than ever before due to the cardiomyopathy. Last treatment is in May so I’m hoping with all the meds my heart function will bounce up enough to where I can run. If not, I will find something else to get my sweat on with.

Second stage recon is tentatively scheduled for July. Have to be cleared by the cardiologist first, which means a nuclear stress test. Blech. 😣 Fingers crossed I pass so I can be even and my abdomen can be fixed. I’m ready to be done and those things are just constant reminders it’s not done, I am getting my port out in May. Excited about that because this one has been nothing but trouble. Buh bye, port!

It's a nasty day here. The temperature is fine, but the winds are howling with gusts of 45 mph. I WAS going to do some yard work but will save it for a calmer day (it is also extremely dry here at the moment). So, I opted for a 45 minutes indoor walking DVD (which includes light weighs into the routine) and a hard 30 minute abs DVD. Falconer, I am going to join you in the wonderful world of 8th grade English tomorrow! Happy

Ah, Ruth, you'll have to let me know what they're up to there in ND. We are about to start our final unit- The Diary of Anne Frank- must be close to the end of school there too?

LB, thanks for sharing the video. 40% reduction in recurrence. Wow.

    Ran 5k today.

    Hi to all...

((((Ginger)))), sorry about your MIL...and congrats to all of you who are keeping moving!

I've been at a family wedding this weekend, now in the airport waiting for the flight home, and have spent a lot of time with my kids, grandkids, cousins, sisters...so less exercise than I'd like. I did take a long walk yesterday and then danced for an hour or two at the wedding, so that is something :-)

Thank you Wonderland and LilacBlue! It's good to move on from rads. LilacBlue, thanks for the video! I've watched most of it - very interesting results on the 13 hour fasting study. It seems like a good idea. Also helpful to learn more about current thinking on other dietary changes for preventing cancer recurrence.

Octogirl, the wedding sounds fun. Hope you get some pool time now that you're home.

We had lovely weather yesterday and today. It was nice to finally get outside to clean up and weed my neglected garden. I'm a bit low energy, guessing it's the post radiation fatigue, but did manage to spend about 3 hours outside each day.

Take care and have a good evening, ladies!

Great weather this week-end, though a tad hot today. Yesterday sat outside soaking up Vitamin D while reading. Couple good walks both days.

    Only 5 more weeks!!!

I have been reminiscing about my younger years and how I weighed 118 lbs (5'7") soaking wet. I couldn't gain weight back then no matter how hard I tried. I hated how thin I was. I'd just like to shout out to myself circa 1983 - 'YOU'RE AN IDIOT!!!!"

Off to the gym, will post back, I have an update on the shy chemo lady I met and posted about last. Hope everyone has a healthy and fit day!

Hi everyone! I haven't been on here in a long time and have missed you all. I haven't been doing a lot of exercise for the last few months because my knee has been pretty balky. After months of conservative treatment my orthopedic surgeon and I agreed that conservative measures were not helping and it was time for surgery. I had surgery in March and it turned out the damage was extensive so the surgery was more complex than we initially anticipated. I've been going to physical therapy 3x a week since then and have at least another month of PT before I'm done. The good thing is everything is going well, and the therapist anticipates that I'll be able to run again at some point if I'm faithful about doing the physical therapy work.

In other news DH retires in 2 weeks! Now that we'll both be retired we'll make our long planned move to our mountain cabin to live.So we have a lot of packing in our future!
