Mary - Welcome back! Injuries are literally a pain!! Glad you are doing well with your PT!! That's Awesome!!!

Most of the week I just got my 0.8 miles a day in getting to/from/around work, lots of pain from stress, odd positions, bad weather most days that make me hurt more.
But this weekend it cleared and DH and I walked 5 miles in serene northern CA redwoods, complete with active streams, birds, new growth, we did gentle ups and downs. I used Leki sticks for support. On one steeper part DH pushed my butt from behind to get me over the hump when I was short of breath and thigh muscles were inadequate ( we refer to it as giving me a “ turboboost” ). We pretty much had the forest to ourselves and its creatures. Went through a half gallon of liquid due to all the sweating, and had to make up the salt loss with some Fritos afterwards (😲) but I made it.

good to see you back, Nats! I also will be packing for a move when hubby retires August 1, so we can commiserate.
chronicpain, somehow walking doesn't seem as far in redwood trees....
After coming back from the wedding yesterday, we landed at the closest major airport to our home and still had a 2plus hour drive to get home...I could tell hubby was falling asleep so I did all the driving. In bed around eleven pm, and I confess, I've been using the relatively late might (for me) as an excuse not to do much. Heading out for a walk right now though...

Glad to see you, Mary!
Chronic, that sounds like a wonderful walk. Send a picture if you took any.
Welcome home, Octo.
I got 8,000 steps subbing in the 8th grade (think big kids and small hot rooms), then came home and helped DH clean out the garage and planted some raspberries. I think I will go to yoga tonight but not Zumba. I am tired!!
*Falconer, they just finished Anne Frank and are now have a choice of 5 middle school level novels on a Holocaust theme to read, do a report on etc. Besides reading they did a vocabulary worksheet and a pronoun quiz (I couldn't remember the 'who' 'whom' rule so had to ask a smart kid what it was....).
I have just used my fitbit for the steps/exercise record, but since I have NOT been at all serious about taking off my 'Winter Vacation' weight, and it is now MAY, I just started filling out the rest of the stuff too. Water drunk, how many hours slept, food and diet/weight loss plan. You can put down how much weight you want to lose, and if you want to follow a slow, medium, kind of hard, or hard diet to lose it. Based it that, it will tell you how many calories to eat a day, and when the weight should be gone. It already tracks your activity level, and if you put in the food you eat, it will tell you how many calories you have left for the day (and you can 'earn' calories back through movement). Hopefully it will be enough of a gimmick (or motivation) to kick me into gear!

I feel bad I didn't get to the pool for water walking. BF who helped me with all 4 surgeries has a hubby who has a potential nasty disease, so she called to talk. This is one time friend need trumps exercise.
I am going off my second chance of an AI. In less than 3 weeks of this drug trial I'm having severe problems. Maybe the last shot will be a charm, but still so discouraging.
Off for sculpt and scrub!

Traveling today from Phoenix to Missoula with 3 hours kill at SEA-TAC so my workout today, such as it is, is walking. So far logged 6500 steps. Work another 2 hours til takeoff for my Missoula flight I ought to be able to log another 3500 steps, don't you think?
This will be a much needed solo trip to my former hometown to spend quality time with a cousin who's flying in and who is a Triple-Negative survivor and closer to me than any friend or my sisters. Also seeing a best friend who lost her husband last year to early onset Alzheimer's. Looking forward to a lot of therapeutic walking and talking before returning home to Arizona for my lumpectomy

Hi CDV! Good to hear from you...it sounds like things are improving and you are healing and getting stronger!
Poli...congrats on finishing rads!
Hi to all of you...nice job ladies!
Ran 3 miles tonight and just got home from an hour yoga class. My yoga instructor caught me before class and said there was a new gal attending thAt had also been diagnosed. I was able to introduce myself after class and we chatted for a while. Had my first post diagnosis mammogram last Friday. It came back all good and what a relief. Relived a few tense moments over the weekend! Will run 4 or 5 miles tomorrow. Youngest son has a track meet tomorrow so will have to fit the run in after the meet or between his events so will wear running clothes!

2Fun-you are a true dear friend! What a lucky girl your friend is to have you!
Ruth - funny Fitbit story for you. I always update my app when I get in the bed. Then I take my Fitbit off and put it on the nightstand. First thing I do when I wake up is put my FitBit on. Last Thursday morning I couldn't find my Fitbit! I panicked was looking all over the nightstand and it was nowhere to be found! I started looking in the floor and then moved to the bed. That's where I found it on the bed. But here's the funny part my 22 pound cat had slept on it all night it was underneath him and my Fitbit track his sleep! He had slept sound from 10 p.m. until 2:30 a.m. where he was awake for a few minutes and then back to sleep until I moved him off of it at 6:30. I just thought it was funny that it tracked sleep with him just laying on it.

Too funny! I will have to try that and give my wrist a break!

Hahaha.....I am walking around the house right now trying to burn off 108 calories; since the fitbit dashboard said I am that much over my target. Dang, I should have just gone to Zumba!

Hi everyone I'm back. I had a visitor from the U.K. so my exercise has been sporadic and then these past few weeks we've been dining out basically every night so you know my eating habits have been BAD, I mean who can resist a bread basket, the answer is not me!!!!
Claire those tulips are gorgeous. Wonderland hope you are enjoying your beach break. Pat so excited for you, you'll get to spoil that baby and good luck with hitting the gym, I need motivation to get myself back. LB Barre is starting off here too, I had dinner on Saturday night with a friend who moved to Las Vegas but was back in the area to train 12 in the format and next weekend the girl I do Combat with is training 20, she is actually on the TAP team and will present on stage in San Diego at LM Live with Diana Mills.
To get back into the swing of things tonight did a Sh'bam class cause I love to dance.0 -
Welcome back, Cheryl! As you know, reporting here is great motivation. Recording my food on my fitbit dashboard has been working for me (for two days anyway....lol).
I'm going to Zumba this morning and Pound tonight. In between, I'm attending a charity luncheon; from there maybe I'll pick up the puppies and 'walk off the pounds'. We had a lovely rain last night with thunder and everything. Much needed and a nice change from snow!!!

Last Sunday was my 3 year fitbit anniversary! I think it is great motivation. I've never gotten into doing all the food input, but do weigh myself everyday and put it into the fitbit dashboard and that keeps me honest...or at least keeps it in my face!

My DD had her baby boy Malcolm Sunday morning by c-section, after 38 hours of labor. He was just too big, 9 lbs, 21". Everyone doing fine. And if I do say so, he's adorable. We live far from them, thank goodness for face time! Will probably head down there for a visit in a week or two after they get settled and bonded.

Congratulations, Pat (I was getting worried when you hadn't checked in)! What state do they live in? You will be going crazy until you can get your hands on him!

Congratulations Pat!!! Wow, that’s one big boy!
Went to exercise class yesterday. Was able to do some stuff, wasn’t able to do other stuff, and did some stuff in a chair rather than moving on the sore knee. The instructor is great about alternative moves for anyone who has mobility issues so I feel like I got a decent workout in even with my modifications. Also went grocery shopping after class. Took over an hour because I’m limping so slowly and I was sore afterwards, but it was nice to do something useful
Did some weeding and swept out the patio just now. PT this afternoon.

congrats pat and DD!
Am writing on my phone from a hospital where my sister is confined for diagnostics. PET and MRI tomorrow as well as a spinal tap. she's making great use of her time and the picture windows in her room. My brother and I also donated blood samples for research on autoimmune disease.

Hey HeidiHill, way to go! Hope all goes well for your sis and you sibs are super. Congratulations Pat on your beautiful, bonny grandson Malcolm. Natsfan, good to read you doing all PT offers and that move to country will be here soon. Cheryl, Kylie Gates is coming over in June for Aim 1, I'm so into yoga but thinking of going just to with her. Barre is not my thing and have not heard back from my friend if she passed. IMT's seem more difficult to pass now that the UK bar has been lowered and open to anyone as before you needed at least a gym level 2. Had a friend on a pump IMT in March with 18 others and only 8 passed (she did). Cdv, take good care and you will find a way through and 2FUN, sorry about your friend's DH and Runnermum, good on the all clear and nice to have you there for another newly diagnosed. Welcome PatsyKB.
Pink Pilates later, a Pilates class mid-day and taught Move it or Lose it! a fitness class made up of those ages, 73-89. They make Tuesday mornings so worthwhile, love those lovely ladies.

Yesterday: 40 .mins cardio, upper and lower body weights, 50 mins. Same as usual, not increasing weights on upper body in order to keep DOMs down, need to get the deadlift in hand. Armpit is achy from bench press, but not too bad.
Today: Rest day, if 'rest' means 4 loads of laundry, scouring bathroom & baking paleo bread while sorting out DS's car issues is 'rest'.
Update: A little while back I posted about an awesome lady I met in the gym that is going through chemo presently. She wanted to strength train with me. Well, she has done an amazing job! During 2 sessions so far, she's mastering squats (using pilates ball against wall), static lunges and planks, 2 sets, 2-4 reps. She's been following along on this thread and wants to post soon......really shy, not computer literate. I can't divulge her name(obviously), but a wave on out to her would be nice lol. This week she is taking off as it's chemo today, bless her heart.

Did "Insanity" class last night!! LOVE that class!!! New moves last night!
Sweat dripping off my glasses and had to take them off!! My arms are sore this morning - sore in a good way!!
It's only for 30 minutes. And, wish I could go to the 60 min Insanity class - but it's only offered at a time that I can't make!
But, the instructor makes it into an amazing sweaty/heart pounding/adrenaline rushing 30 minutes!
She does almost all the moves - and calls out all the moves - never misses a beat! I don't know how she does it!!

Dancing - I love drippy workouts too.....very empowering!

Ran 3.8 miles today.0 -
Congratulations Pat! Hope you get the snuggle that new baby soon!
Busy day. Volunteered at a Women's Bible Study this morning. Took my girl's stroller to be repaired. She kicked her foot and snapped her footrest in two. After that had to make a Target run we won't talk about how much I spent there. I will say Pat you need to check out the baby stuff LOL traffic was so bad it took me a hour and a half to make the 20-minute Drive to get home. DD and family came over for dinner. Steps for today 20,595. Flexi-pumping now so maybe I'll add 1,000 getting ready for bed. I need to check out the dashboard!

The dashboard is awesome. I had to dance some more at home to get rid of my extra calories AGAIN......yes, I do very much like to eat, so this is keeping me honest!

Lately I've only managed 10K or so steps most days...so my weight is up a few pounds!!! Not good. My fitbit was definitely a motivator...I still have it but no band and it is not synched to anything so not as good about the steps. Afraid to get on the scale....
Pat, congrats on your grandson...post pictures.....
Almost ready to start counting the days.....4 1/2 weeks.....and counting till the end of the school year. Last week was my last day at one of the schools I've been covering for maternity leave and it couldn't come soon enough. I was supposed to be done my second school (also maternity leave) but found out today that the gals is extending her leave through the rest of the school year. Her husband was going to take May off, but his personnel denied his leave, so most likely I'll be there 2 days/week till the end of the year. I really like the sped team and SW/SP team at this high school. They are going to have a 4 day/week opening next year and I'm thinking about applying for it. I have been planning on staying in my same position (float/guest SP) but when I heard about this, I thought well maybe. Have to really give it some thought. After this school year, I only plan on working 3-4 (most likely 4) years then call it quits...but there are days I think will I survive another 4 years!!! Really, I love what I do, but some days annoy me!!
