Hbcheryl - the song "Halo" reminds me of all the wonderful people I have know - who have gone - too soon. Brings a tear to my eye every-time....
Runnermum - I'm so sorry about your best-friend's loss of her child. Nothing more devastating...

Runner, you're a good friend. I'm happy to hear that you are feeling stronger. You'll be a good inspiration to her.
Wonderland, always loving your artwork
Ran 5k on the treadmill again today. We had a delayed opening bc of more snow in the mountains. Ugh!
Glad to hear of the good weather in the mid states- hoping it'll blow this way soon!

A quick check-in before the Book Club ladies arrive. I went to Pound & Bone Builders this morning, did lots of running around this afternoon.

I also love the painted rocks!
The Marathon stories are a real inspiration, even though my running days are over with two bionic knees....bicycling though: that I can get into!
Today I swam laps for about an hour. Getting the hang of how to do a frog kick with my new knees, and my flutter kick/freestyle feels very strong. The biggest accomplishment/excitement is that I had no trouble climbing out of the pool via the ladder on the deep side (as opposed to the much easier steps with rails in the shallow portion). It's a good sign that I won't have any trouble with boat ladders on upcoming scuba/snorkeling trips! (Next trip is in a few weeks, to Cozumel with friends. Not sure if I will dive or just snorkel, probably depends upon how I feel when I get there. Doc says do what you feel strong enough to do...)
Have a good Friday and a great weekend, all!

hi all and happy Friday Eve. Walked around the Square at noon then 2nite did an hour of Scrub & Sculpt. We're getting the ducts cleaned next week so I am pulling out furniture to swiff & vac. Gotta clean before the cleaners come, right?
Speaking of trips, our annual Sculpted Sisters vacay is coming up in six months. I am definitely going to drive! Anyone want to carpool? Chicago to Nashville is about 500 miles and there's a lot to see/do along the way.

Here's my dessert (for those of you, who like me, exercise so you can eat!).

runner- thanks for that article. She is an inspiration and I am glad she was able to cross the finish line. I wish I had seen her cross it. I was at the marathon to cheer on a friend who also ran and raised over $14,000 for Dana Farber. The conditions were so challenging! He is the one in black and green. He had the names of the loved ones of people who made donations on the back of his shirt.
I have 2 friends newly diagnosed with breast cancer. I went to their appointments with them to be a note taker. I realize how much I have learned through my experiences and this website and am thankful that I can help them through the process.

I have not been able to check in and wow did I have alot to catch up on! All the beautiful stories from the Boston Marathon, yikes the tree, brightly colored rocks, scrumptious desserts and links all worth reading. Runnermom- so sorry to hear of your BF losing a child. No matter the age it leaves a hole inside you that last forever. We lost our oldest daughter at 26. (2013)
We had a couple of days of spring a couple of days of winter and today's a mixed bag I do believe! My bird nest in the wreath on my front door now has five babies! I'm averaging 9 to 10 miles a day walking in the weeks been filled with delivering meals on wheels(2 days) speech appointments for my girl( she's a silent aspirator) met her new neurologist which was super exciting because he actually has a cousin with Angelman syndrome! My youngest grandson turned 3 on Wednesday and oldest grandson has an A B honor roll ceremony today. Being a grandmother to six keeps me hopping! I have been on Anastrozole for 5 weeks and I'm doing well. My energy leverl has increased and i finally have a normal appetite!

Yeah, second week in a row that I have gotten to the gym every day M - F...I am just 1 lb from the mark of losing 10 pounds (since early December) ... which I hope to achieve before I leave on my next business trip next Friday. I am grateful for my ability to exercise and my job, but I seem to gain 2 lbs on every trip...so when I make this 10 pound goal it will have been after losing 20 pounds as I ping pong slowly down the scale to the 10 pounds! But at least it is slowly down...
To a lovely weekend ahead, cheers. TT

I've been sick this week so I just caught up reading posts and only got a little exercise in this work week. On Monday I did a 17 minute walk with my 8 flights of stairs at work - started to feel sick that afternoon. Finally feeling better today and we had good weather finally - so I did a 31 minute walk after work.
Oh, Ginger, that race looks almost as miserable as a cancer diagnosis. Thanks to your dedicated friend.
Badger, if I am able to go on the Nashville trip, I would definitely carpool with you. I am north of Chicago. I still have to figure out if I'm going -between work and family obligations, its always a challenge to plan.

Vagradol....so very sorry to hear of your daughter too.. It does leave a hole in your heart. I have been best friends with my friend since we were in high school. We grew up together. Nothing can prepare you for watching someone you love go thru that. Losing a child is an unbearable pain. I send you peace and love.
Ginger...wow that picture!!!
Ruth your dessert looks wonderful!
TrmTab...wonderful job in the exercise!
Two Hobbies...hope you are in the mend soon!
Had the day off today...Had 2 checkups at my cancer center....graduated from radiation oncology!! Yay!! Spent some time with my friend at her first chemo. She did great! Saw a few of my infusion nurses when I was at the infusion center! They were surpised by all my chemo curls and got lots of hugs!! Took puppy for a 1 mile walk, ran 3 miles in shorts (we hit 55*) and hit the penny wine sale! Cooked salmon for supper and enjoyed a new bottle of wine! It was a good day! Getting ready to bundle up and enjoy the sunset on my deck this evening. Tomorrow is my official diagnosis date...1 yr ago today I had my biopsy. It was a little rough going into the infusion center today...I held it together and lost it on the way home. All I could think, is it feels so good to be 1 yr out. But hard to see my friend going thru it 1 yr later. Brings back so many hard memories.I
Peace to all of you! 💗

Geez, I think that everyone who participated in that Boston Marathon (either by running or coming out to cheer people on) should get a medal! What crummy weather!
TrmTab, I always gain weight on trips; no matter how active I am on them, because I love to try out all the local cuisine!
Congratulations on graduating from radiation, Runner! It is hard when friends are diagnosed because it reminds you of what you've been through and you know the hard road they will have ahead of them.
I subbed yesterday, went to Dance Attack and then napped in the recliner until bedtime. I was tired! I went to Early Bird Yoga this morning. I am dog-sitting today as DS is out of town, and have (so far) taken two long doggie walks. We will probably take another one before the day is through to keep everybody happy.

Badger said something about a Road Trip. For you new gals, here is the information:
Some of us on this thread take an annual Road Trip. Last fall we went to Daytona Beach for Trip #7 and next fall we are planning a trip to Nashville. Anyone who would like to come is invited. The only requirements are that you have to like to laugh, eat, move, and are flexible about sleeping arrangements, sharing bathrooms, schedules etc. etc.
Here's the information. You don't have to decide right now, but if you would like to be on our group email list to stay up with our plans, PM me with your 'real' name and email address. We will want a 'who's coming for sure' list out by sometime this summer so we can get tickets to shows etc. ahead of time.
What? 2018 BCO Road Trip
When? October 9-15
Details: October 9-12, we'll spend 4 nights in Nashville (at the Wyndham, thanks to patoo who is sharing her timeshare with us), and October 13-14, we'll 2 nights in the mountains (thanks to hbcheryl, we will be at her friend's Bed and Breakfast in Mount Eagle, 90 miles from Nashville). Home again on the 15th.
Why? Because it is really, really fun to meet up in person; and there's lots of interesting things to see and do in the Nashville area!

Ruth- I love that deep friendships have been made here on this thread! I wish I could meet everyone in person!! If you ever plan a trip to Asheville I would love to meet everyone. I'm a package deal so that limits me sometimes.

Stopped at the gym this afternoon for an hour on the way home from mom's. She's doing really well after recent troubles. We had a nice visit and I took her to the library and grocery store.
Last night, I finished the living room. Looks so nice all clean and de-cluttered. Took two boxes of books to Goodwill this morning. Now procrastinating on cleaning out the bedroom closet. Started this afternoon and there is stuff everywhere. Must finish by bedtime so there's somewhere to sleep LOL. We have stuff that's been untouched for two years in the back of the closet. I see many more trips to GW in my future. Anyone want an old mink stole?

Ran 10 miles today. The run was almost too warm...60* by the time I finished. Last week I was running in the 30s and 40s. I didn't bring water and had to stop at a gas station to get some towards the end. But ran the entire 10. My half is 4 wks from today. 2 long runs left!

Snow in Denver this morning. No accumulation though. Great moisture for the trees. Curious how much snow the mountains got. Was so exhausted last night went to bed at 8:30 (really, really early for me) and took a long nap this afternoon. DH also didn't feel good today and slept most of the afternoon. He has a surprise 80th b'day party for a friend, so he forced himself to go stop by for a bit.
Tomorrow morning I'm doing a health fair from 7-11 so need to be out of the house by 6:15 or 6:30. Hadn't planned to do it but the person who planned to do it had a family emergency and didn't feel like I could say no. Lots of work paperwork tomorrow for Monday - 2 IEP meetings and the evaluation for my intern. Other than that nothing exciting to report.
Sweet dreams everyone.

Did the Tulip Pedal with my friend Jim today. 40 mile route that is roughly the equivalent of a half marathon, especially when windy, which it was today. You had to brace yourself to make sure you didn't get blown over! Not to mention cycling into a stiff headwind at times.
Sharing some of the highlights. Note the snow on the Cascade foothills. Feel so lucky to be able to do these events. Not to mention that they are brain-cleansing. Admit to being a bit stiff, even after a hot bath.
On another note, I have a Nashville connection. Roy Acuff was the cousin of my Aunt Nancy. I got to visit the city 12 years ago for a conference where I also took a side trip to see my Uncle one last time. I had a blast in Nashville, seeing the Ryman Theatre, attending a show at the Grand Ole Opry, and being shown one of the Top 10 Men's Rooms in America by the concierge at the Hermitage Hotel that I chatted up. I will be thinking of all of you, but not too much, as I shall be in London at that time. It's been far too long, and it's the city I love the most. - Claire

Hi everyone, I'm glad I found this thread. This week I will be 9 weeks post-op from my BMX. My ABCD Co-ordinator gave me some stretches that have returned my range of motion fully. I look forward to adding more activities to my routine. Before this surgery I had participated in triathlons and also enjoyed yoga and weight lifting. Now I feel like jello after the weeks of resting and sitting around. I'm wandering how my life will be now. I enjoy reading these posts and seeing the photos as well.

So glad to find this thread and have somewhere to share that I did my first post-lumpectomy run today! Surgery was 12 days ago, and when I tried a few days ago, I thought 'nope' after a few steps. But today, it was spring, it's sunny, and I did 3 miles easy with no pain to speak of! I'm delighted—I haven't been working out a lot the past few months so it was nice to feel like myself again.
Claire, those tulips are stunning!

Welcome, Chelsea and Jt. Claire, such beautiful pictures. There's nothing prettier than fields of flowers.
I did squats, squat jumps and push-ups today and then went with DH for a 42 minute beach walk. Sunny and no winter coat needed!

Great pix Claire!
Runner, congrats on the 10miles!
Welcome newbies!
So today was the Earth Day 5k and half marathon. I realized before today's race that it was the first time in 30 years that I'd run in a race. And, I was pretty surprised by my results: 22nd for women and 56th overall (out of over 300 participants). Since it was an out and back, I was looking at the faces that passed me and realized I could actually do alright for my age group (40-49); 4th place. 😊
My DD ran a great half, placing 85th overall out of over 600 runners. She came in 5th for her age group (15-19).
Like all of you said, the blue skies were wonderful to exercise below

Welcome Jt3 and Chelsea!
Great picture, Falconer. Congratulations to you and DD on your races! Very awesome.
I had a project that HAD to be done today, so I spent most of my time and energy working on it. I did a pilates & cardio dance DVD tonight.....I should get on the treadmill for awhile but probably won't as I need to call some relatives to try to pin them down for a family reunion date. Fun, fun!

Awesome job Falconer to you and your DD!! You both did awesome! I hope you celebrated with ice cream or something yummy!
Welcome to all the new members! Great job on your workouts and runs post surgery. I agree it feels so good to do your normal activities again!
Claire love the tulips!
Yoga and foam rolling today! Will run tomorrow! We had beautiful weather and got few outside projects done!

Hi all and welcome Jt3 and Chelsea. Great pix everyone! Beautiful here 2day as well. Took two boxes of clothes to Goodwill this morning then finished spring cleaning (round 1) with the screen doors open and a nice breeze. Got out for a walk in the sun as well.

One of the neighborhood realtors had a shredding truck today...I was not organized so didn't get as much ready as I could have....but I took several boxes to taxes to be shredded going back to 97 and 99, then 06, 07, 08. Wish I would have planned better because I could have gotten rid of so much more from the crawl space. I have journal articles and journals from my dissertation which are from the late 1980s....I haven't read them since then, so what is the likelihood that I will every read them!!! Most shredding trucks are on Saturday so that doesn't work for me....so next year, I will be ready!!!
