Wonderland- I am totally in love with the concept D rowing machine. I have been wanting to purchase a rowing machine but right now the price on the concept D is still between 950 and 1000. My former fitness center had the concept D and it was just a very good machine. Great design. when you look at reviews on rowing machines it is consistently rated number one.

jo: My cousins (my mother's twin sister's children) Pete and Dick Dreissigacker developed the Concept 2. They designed a backpack for North Face years ago and used some of the royalty money to purchase a farm in Vermont. They turned the barn into their design shop. Pete and Dick are so down to earth and just wonderful people! And so athletic! I'm so happy for their success.

wonderland- what a great family and American story. I have been researching rowing machines for the past couple of months. Because I fell in love with the concept 2 D at my fitness center. Maybe I can sell my elliptical machine and offset some of the cost. The elliptical is great but I found it boring. During the hot summer months I love my treadmill.

Concept 2 are manufactured one town over from where I grew up. I have had a whirlwind week, with hopefully a great hike on Saturday to see the autumn colors in the mountains. Off to London in just 5 days!!! Super excited. - Claire

Got lots of housework to do today, so I think that I'm gonna skip the normal exercise routine today.

    claire-have fun in London.

Tomorrow I have to drive 3 hours to Port Charlotte for my nephew and his wife's baby shower. They are ecstatic. They have been trying for approximately 8 years. So I will have a new great niece Serenity. I love to shop for baby girls. Afterwards I'm bringing my mother to Miami for a week. It's time to start decorating for Halloween. From Halloween through New Year's this is my favorite time of the year.

Tonight Im running 3 miles. Sunday morning I have a 5K and the rest of the day is going to be spent decorating with ghosts and goblins and everything spooky.

Got all the housework that I had planned for today done. Even had some time to go drag out the Halloween decorations and put them up! Now I am being lazy for the rest of the day.

Mary, happy belated anniversary to you and DH! Wonderland, Happy Birthday to you! Cheryl, good on your results and sorry to read of your friend; hate this effing disease. Claire, good time to visit London and enjoy! Got my MRI results and been recovering from L3 bulging disc. Back on the mat and delivering new release #82 - very deep, hard core track. Off this weekend-staying in a Brighton Airbnb room as attending a 2 day yoga workshop with visiting Canadian, Brea Johnson. Have a good weekend everyone!

Strength circuit today, with a warmup on the new rowing machine. And yep, Wonderland, it is a Concept 2! The center director said he did a lot of research and the Concept 2 kept popping as the best one to get. Your cousins certainly came up with a quality machine. I told the center director about your cousins - he loved the story!

There’s a fiery yellow ball in the sky today. Not sure what it is, so maybe I need to call 911 and report it. HappyClaire - we have even your Seattle weather beat - I counted up our rain gauge totals since July 1 and we’ve had 46 inches of rain since then. Way way way over our normal. No wonder the lawn squishes when we walk on it!

Happy Friday! My Toronto kids left early this morning.. didn't need my alarm clock to wake me up at 5 as I was up before then....have not been sleeping well and the past couple days it has left me so tired!! Thank you to my DH who took care of the grocery shopping and cleaning today - he always helps, but he did my part as well. I worked again today - next Friday is my last Friday - will be glad to get back to a regular schedule. Making Sabbat dinner, but not nearly as much as I usually do and no baking!!

ruthbru, I'm also just back from a 'Sisters Getaway' but no real exercise. Beautiful location, Panama City Beach, but the sand was too fine and deep and difficult to walk on. We only walked one day to shop and I did some running in the pool but for the most part we lounged on the beach and played in the water. No sustained exercise. But, I know in about 10 days you will have us make up for it!

    Hi everyone!

We will definitely try to make up for lazy vacations! Winking

I subbed yesterday (in a classroom with kids instead of scanning books in the library, so that was a very fun and very busy day). I walked the grandpuppies, did an hour long toning DVD and fell asleep on the couch. Today I tried to make up for my off days; Wake Up Yoga, came home and did a Walk Off the Pounds & a pilates DVD. It's 37 degrees with a cold rain falling, so walking outside was not a very tempting option!

Hi all: I've been away from the board for a while, but I HAVE been exercising: lots of move related stuff, then I went on vacation...right now I am in Hawaii where I've been walking, swimming and scuba diving...so staying active. Will be back on the boards more in another week or so. Have a good week all!

Went to my in-laws today and helped my MIL with washing some windows and changing some curtains. She is unable to do that stuff without help due to a back issues and shoulder surgery last year, so I did the physical work while she supervised and handed me the cleaning supplies. Hubby helped his Dad clean out the gutters at their house.

Hard evening. My uncle passed away this afternoon. He was my mother's younger brother. He has been in the hospital since mid-August. Its just over 8 months since I lost my mother. I have such fond memories as a young child with my uncle who was like a big, big brother. Lot of memories over the years. My aunt is having a memorial service in the spring. Hopefully I can make it. They are in Montreal. One cousin is near Ottawa and the other is in Banff.

Karen: I'm so sorry about your uncle. It's pure sadness to loss our loved ones.

M0mmy: I know your MIL was thankful for your hard work today.

octo: Great to hear from you! Enjoy Hawaii.

Nats: Happy rowing! It's a workout!!!

Ruth: Really? 37? Send a little bit of that to me.

Pushed mowed the yard today for 1 hour and 45 minutes. The grass was so thick! Dh came out to help after I had mowed for over an hour. I was one tired, hot mess!

I am so sorry, Karen. It is hard to lose those with happy family connections. The last uncle on my dad's side of the family died last winter, and a whole era of family history went with him.

    Hawaii sounds wonderful, Octo!

Mommy, come clean my windows, please. Happy

MIL was practically in tears over my helping her. She felt so bad that she had to have me help her. I told her that I was glad to help her and that any time we are visiting if she needs help with something I’d do it. Have to go there again today and help her wash her floors and do more cleaning.

I got in a hike yesterday and was rewarded by sensational autumn colors and amazing views. Legs are talking to me today, though I do need to get in a short bicycle ride. Also need to get most of the packing for my London trip done as I leave in 2 days and tomorrow is a work day. - Claire

Claire, the views are breathtaking, can you tell me where it is? Sooo beautifull!

I have troubles with my walking... I mostly get a lot of steps just through daily tasks and running after my small kids... But now I have started Taxol and my soles are on fire. I'm trying to walk less, but am not succeding. Today I have over 10000 steps again, with a lot of trying not to walk! I still have 10 Taxol treatments to go, I really don't know how I will manage... If the burning gets worse... stupid cancer

Jaboo, it's Mount Rainer, as seen from Cayuse Pass. Trail is the Naches Peak Loop as it circles Naches Peak.

I had to wear hiking boots after my last AC infusion as feet were just very sore. They might help, so think could be worth a try. I am sorry about the burning with Taxol. I was spared all that.

Speaking of which, I need to get new hiking boots as mine are starting to fall apart, with the sole detaching. That will be after my return from London.

I wonder if my friend who did a different trail near Mount Rainier has figured out that I had much better scenery??? Posted these on FB, and saw her photos. Guess whose win? - Claire

Beautiful pictures, Claire! I KNOW that you will have a fun trip!

JaBoo, I didn't do Taxol so don't have any good tips. Does it feel better when you can stay off them or doesn't it make any difference? Hopefully someone can along with some advice.

I went to Yoga & Pound and then came home and danced around with Marshall Fitness for awhile (on utube, so fun!).

JaBoo - stupid cancer indeed and sorry you are dealing with this shitty side effect. Beautiful autumn photos Claire. Octo, wow - so cool you are in Hawaii! Karen, sorry to read of the death of your uncle. Admire you rowers! Well, had a wonderful weekend workshop in Brighton - 18 woman and 1 man in attendance. Brea Johnson is truly a remarkable instructor who offered us each what we wanted to take away. Saturday was hips and Sunday shoulders. Printed out my weeks worth of lesson plans and have included what I've learned. It was such a treat to be instructed by a such a lovely, loving caring woman for a few days (my YTT teacher is male - very strength testosterone driven). Sunny, clear chilly October 1st. morning here and need to get showered and changed for Pink Ribbon Pilates at 11am. off I go and Happy Movement Monday!!

jaboo, this may be hand-foot syndrome in which case there are ways to deal with it. Ice packs during chemo is one.

    https://www.cancer.net/navigating-cancer-care/side-effects/hand-foot-syndrome-or-palmar-plantar-erythrodysesthesia

I did not have this with Taxotere (given simultaneously with AC) but it's possible the steroids they gave me directly after prevented it.

Another gorgeous bike ride this weekend, this time with DH.

Claire, thanks for the info. Mt. Rainer is wonderfull!!

Ruthbru, I think the feet get worse when walking. my hands were OK and then both feet and palms got worse after I mowed the whole garden (and we have a large one).

HeidiHill, yes, I actually think it is... I have zero problems with coordination or the like, so I don't think it to be neuropathy (at least not YET). It really burns just on the skin of the soles and palms. Thank you very much for the link, that is indeed a helpfull page!! I have been aplying a cream for dry heels very generously and it seems to help. According to your link I am doing the right thing. Thanks a lot. No pictures this time from your biking? 🙂 Where did you go?
