We spent today doing lake things; morning coffee on the dock, fishing, reading, exploring the lake on the pontoon and docking at a lakeside restaurant for dinner.

That looks very relaxing, Ruth. Wish I was there.

Wonderland I think you need to do those beautiful designs on canvas. On pumpkins they will just disappear.

Octo, I am just as excited about your dream job as your move. Congrats and enjoy.

Thursday I got my overgrown front lawn mowed-40 minutes. We have sun and the fall color is starting to get stronger so I will head out for a trail walk looking for some pretty leaves.

Wonder - your pumpkins are beautiful as usual. I love this time of year when you post your pix. Ruth - looks like you’re enjoying the warmer weather before heading home to the snows of ND!

I had a wonderful time in Nashville with the ladies from this board. I’m not really a country music fan but even I enjoyed the Country Music Hall of Fame, and loved the live music bars on Broadway. However, the country music karaoke bar we stopped in for a while was “interesting”, shall we say, especially the last singer who had more enthusiasm than talent. Shocked But all kidding aside, it was a privilege and honor to spend a week with these wonderful women and these trips are always a highlight of my year. I’d encourage everyone to think about joining us next year, wherever we are.

Finally got unpacked and the travel laundry done. Got back to the gym this week, and with all the walking we did in Nashville I hadn’t lost too much fitness. One thing the trip did show me was that I need more physical therapy on my surgical knee, so I got a scrip from the dr and started back on PT this week.

Went to a talk last night by a retired admiral who was commander of Camp David during the late Clinton and early Bush years. He’s written a book about his experiences called “Inside Camp David” and he shared some highlights from the book with us. Itwas fascinating. He interviewed other commanders and did a lot of research for the book, and dug up some great pix of the people who have stayed there, going all the way back to when FDR hosted Churchill there just before the US entered WWII. At the end they raffled off a copy of the book and DH won! I can’t wait to read it.

Ruth- so glad you went to the Biltmore House!! The village is really nice now with all the restaurants and shops. Cedric's Pub is where we have grabbed dinner at in the past.

Ruth I live retirement vicariously through you.
LB- the big finish is coming yahoo!! Love the photo.
Octo, I moved from SoCal to upstate NY. I didn't even have a winter jacket- the good news is you'll get to go shopping for warm gear!
Jo sounds like you're staying on it and ready for that 13.1. When is it?
Wonder, I admire your artwork always.
Nats, sounds like you're enjoying living up there in the Catoctins.

Well, I took almost a week off from exercise as my upper back and shoulder were really screaming this week following a yoga class that focused on that area. I was really feeling down about the pain. But today I ran three miles and felt good so I'm keeping after it! If I can tell myself I'm strong then I am strong.

My big DS had a playoff game in soccer vs the school where I teach. DS team lost but played well and was named captain for next year.

I'm so excited! Today when I was out with hubby running a few errands he showed me a new way to get to the area of town with the community center that has three (!) indoor pools (including a 50 meter lap pool), gym, ice arena, etc. Of course, I have wanted to go for the swimming and some aquatic classes, but when I tried to go it took a good 15 to 20 minutes to get there...hubby's route home from Target took me right by the center and I timed it: 10 minutes to get back home. So, I have no excuse now....We've got plans for a hike tomorrow to see the fall colors, but I will be checking it out after work this week...

octogirl- the low today was 86 and the high was 92 so I have very little sympathy for you. I want some cooler weather. We're expecting a cold front. It is supposed to hit the low 80s. Hallelujah. Love the picture of the snow on Deck. I bet you have a beautiful view. Only those of us who live in hot weather states 12 months out of the year can appreciate the snow on your deck. I don't want much temp in the 70s or low 80s and I'm happy. LOL

We went to Mount Airy today; hometown of Andy Griffith, and the model for the fictional town of Mayberry in The Andy Griffith Show. Wonderland had told me about a soda pop called Cheerwine and I found some at the old fashioned service station.

    LB: Such a cute picture!

Ruth: The thought of living in the Biltmore house just blows my mind. Cheerwine is SO GOOD!

Nats: How wonderful that dh won "Inside Camp David"!

jo: We are finally getting cooler weather and now I get to wear a sweatshirt!

Octo: That's great that you have a short ride to your pools.

Falconer: Glad your back and shoulder are better. Congratulations to your ds!

Been staying busy - walking/running. It's such a joy to do it in cool, autumn weather. Today was a Carolina blue sky, 59 degrees and a bit windy. After exercising I sat outside and read a book. Pure delight!

jo...you are doing awesome! So proud of you! Do you have a half marathon in the calendar yet? Hope it cools off soon for you!

Falconer...hope you shoulder is better! You are strong! My hammy has been talking to me since my Wed night yoga class!

Ruth...looks like you are having a great vacation! Enjoy the rest of it!

Wonderland...We had similar temps with lots of sunshine and no wind today...absolutely beautiful! I

Had a great time with my sister in laws...lots of shopping, eating and drinks! Perfect girls weekend. Ran yesterday and did yoga at the hotel. Today I took out dog for a long walk but didn't get my run in. Which is ok. Our dog was diagnosed with Lyme disease lastvweek. She is doing much better so it was good to get her out for a good walk in beautiful temps today. She enjoyed it and it is so good o see her up and moving around again. Very scary for a few days last week!

Runner - my little pupper was dx with Lyme a few years ago. He’s 14 now and doing fine. Apparently it tends to be far less serious for canines than for humans. Hope your pupper is doing OK.

    Ruth - beautiful pix!

Cardio circuit today, plus PT. Apparently the calf/ankle muscles tightened up a lot as compensation for the bad knee which is why I was having so many issues.Surgery has fixed the knee, but the muscles and tendons remained tight, causing issues. So my PT is concentrating on stretching out those muscles and tendons. So PT is relatively easy - mostly heat, massage and long stretches.

The dark mornings are interfering with my morning walks. Its hard to get out of bed and then I don't have enough time to walk. I don't look forward to the time change but at least it will be lighter in the morning (but not after work)!

I'm having a pity party the past few days. How many diagnoses can a person have!! Last month when I saw my oncologist my Creatinine was elevated so he wanted it repeated in a month which I did last Monday. Got the results on Wednesday, the numbers continue to creep up. I say my PCP on Friday and I have Chronic Kidney Disease, stage 3A......She has referred me to a Nephrologist. I don't fit any of the type characteristics - my P/B is good, my weight is good and my AC1 is good.....so is it from Chemo (which I'm not finding much connection with TAC chemo) or from all the ibuprofen that I took while on Ai's especially on Arimidex. I've been off AI's for 8 1/2 years. I'm scared about the unknown. BC, the gift that keeps on giving!!! I'm not saying anything to my kids until I've have concrete information and even then I"m not sure what I'll say. Till BC, the only time I was sick was a cold....oh, I broke my leg, but otherwise healthy as can be.....no BC survivor and g-d willing it never comes back, osteoporosis (thank you breast cancer, chemo and AI's) and add kidney disease to the list!!!

Going to see my DD#2 over winter break. Airfares are outrageous and horrible connections. I look everyday hoping to find something decent....I wanted to stay till Jan 6th but all flights get back a day later and I need to be at work on the 7th. Need to keep looking! I'm going to stay in the same apt (hopefully) that we rented last summer.

    Sweet dreams...

Karen I am so sorry. Saying prayers for you. I completely understand how you feel. I went to my Dr once a yr for my yearly checkup and had the occasional cold. It just doesn't feel fair does it.

Natsfan...thank you for sharing about your pup. It made me feel much better as a friend shared a story about her neighbors dog that had lyme disease and how the dog passed away a few yrs after his diagnosis and the vet said it was most likely from the toll the disease had on his body. Made me feel so sad. Our girl is back to her usual naughty self this week! 😊

Rough Monday after a long fun weekend but got a 4 mile run in after work today.

You may have heard this song before but thought I would share for those who haven't. I knew Melissa Etheridge was a survivor but recently heard this song for the 1st time. I now have it on my running playlist. Think of you ladies and my many friends who were diagnosed prior to me or after.

Oh crap, Karen!! So sorry you have to deal with this too! Runnermum, glad to hear of your girl's speedy recovery. We now have our girl home from the shelter. She only wants to go potty in the forest. Love the pics, Ruth and Lilac.  I did a double take with that Biltmore pic, it looks just like one I'd seen in the Loire Valley of France. Or very similar.

OMG, thank you for sharing that song, Runner. Magnificent!

Karen, as the kids say "that sucks". hopefully the Nephrologist can give you some answers. I wouldn't say anything to the kids yet either. If it's a 'chronic' thing, maybe it's something that you just monitor. ????

We had a long but uneventful travel day. As it is now 1:00 in the morning, I better hit the hay and save the rest of the unpacking, sorting through the mail, reading the papers activities until later. With all the airport walking, I finally hit 10,000 steps for the first day in awhile.

karen- good luck with the nephrologist. Im sorry you have to add another dx.

Runnermum- Saturday I have a Halloween for my freaky run and Sunday I have a 5K. I haven't registered for the half-marathon yet. I have a 49 flight stair climb March 9th for the American Lung Association. Last night we had lovely temperatures of 82, so I was able to go for a 5 mile run. I'm not sure when I should register for a half marathon. They have them almost every weekend within driving distance of my home. I need to register in advance where I can start a training program. Any suggestions?

I love all the pics that I've been posted. Love the Melissa Etheridge song. Thanks for sharing

Oh Karen, so sorry for your latest troubles.

Ruth - just love the sunset pic, what a magical setting.

Varga - my Alta bit the dust recently too - I chatted with their tech support, but they were not too helpful. I did manage to revive it. I went online to the fitbit support forum, and it turns out tons of peoples Altas are dying simultaneously. So far no word from corporate, but I smell something fishy here - planned obsolescence? If you call them they will give you a 20% off coupon on a new fitbit. Hmmm...

Karen: I'm so sorry to hear this. Glad you have been referred to a specialist.

Went for my fast walk/run this afternoon. It was 67 degrees and a tad bit of humidity in the air. Doesn't take much humidity to make me sweat, sweat, sweat!
