ruth- sounds like a lot of travel time on the road. Be careful.

I was scheduled for a freaky 4 Miler this morning. Race time was 6 a.m. . I was dressed and ready to go at 5 a.m. when I realized it was still dark outside. Because of the large cataract in my right eye I'm not allowed to drive when it's dark. I was very disappointed. Most races don't begin until 7:30 but this was an exception because of the location. I'm scheduled for cataract surgery November 26th. When I get home from work this afternoon I'll go for a nice run. Keep moving guys.

Ruth, my condolences to you and family and I'd help with dog sitting if I could. Jo, sorry to read of not running due to light conditions and hope upcoming the surgery goes smooth.

Finished yesterday, 200 hour yoga teacher training. Pleased the final class taught to the public went well enough and now, looking towards November 6th, when my weekly class starts - yoga for those living with cancer. Clocks change tonight for us and can use the extra hour. Let's keep at it!

10 weeks out from last TC chemo - 6 weeks out from prepectoral implant exchange - 3 weeks of work so far....I've been walking about an hour most days through treatment. I joined a gym three weeks ago. The weather has been spectacular so could just keep walking but Sacramento is so flat and at the gym I can put the treadmill at a good slope and use the stairs. I've been going to the gym before work. I still have water retention and fatigue from surgeries and chemo SEs but am just pushing through. I'm looking forward to being able to start with upper body strengthening but have to wait a little longer. I used free weights (5lbs) one day at 4 weeks and started to have pain in one of the implants....bad move. I've backed off and the pain is going away.

    Welcome Rachel!

Went to a very much needed early morning yoga class, came home and did an hour of toning with Denise Austin (two weeks off is too long!), I've walked the puppies and we'll go out at least once more today.

Ruth- sorry for your loss. I will be thinking of you and you DH tomorrow.

Karen- I hope you get an appointment and answers soon.

Welcome, Rachel. It’s a good idea to be careful and tuned into your body when it comes to starting upper body conditioning after surgery.

I got to Zumba today and only had minimal knee pain. It’s getting better. Slowly but I will get there.

I'm still trying the process the horrific murders in the Pittsburgh synagogue on Shabbat. Thanks for your kind words. Thankfully, our synagogue has a volunteer security group that stands outside shul on Shabbat mornings. The door is locked with a combination lock type key pad....My husband heads the security team. My husband wrote a homeland security grant which the synagogue was awarded which will be used to enhance security, but of course its the government so it takes time to get each step done.

I got the approval yesterday for the Nephrologist. I'm calling Monday to make an appointment. Hopefully, it won't take long to get in. My husband and I know the Nephrologist so I may have my husband call him if the appointment is way out to get in sooner. But first, I'll play by the rules.

Of course Monday is a crazy busy day. I have a staffing at 7:00 am, meeting with my supervisor at 8:00 for our monthly 1:1, go out to my Monday school and see students all day and another staffing at 4:00 pm. All at 3 different schools. Thankfully my days aren't usually this long. An at least I don't have class this week, so my only really long day.

Waiting a bit for a long week. As much as I don't like Standard time, this year I'm looking forward to the time change as it is sooo dark at 6:00am....it is making it hard for a morning walk when I have to leave at 7:00.

    Have a great Sunday.

Sad week for freedom when religious and political expression is a fatal exercise.

Went on our first hike with the dog.

Just came back from wonderful long walk - close to an hour - sun is shining and its almost hot out - probably in the high 70s- back to sandal weather for me. I'll enjoy it while its here as come the 31st I'm sure it will turn colder.

Oh Ruth, so sorry to hear about your SIL. Your poor DH, losing his close friend last year and now this. Thinking of you and yours today and in the days to come.

I have fallen off the exercise wagon again - not sure why, just feeling blah. So last night I got a fitbit workweek challenge from my son-in-law, which I accepted figuring it will get me off my butt to go out and put some miles on. And it's raining! OK, I will go to the gym (which hasn't seen me in months!), then remember DH has the car today, with my gym key fob thingy. So they say the rain will stop later, and I will go out and get my 3 miles in. And hello, I do have a raincoat, I am the queen of excuses.

On the other hand, I do have an excuse for not cycling yesterday - flat tire! So I "backpedaled" and did a walk in the off leash dog park, a place of great joy. I hadn't been there in a couple of years, and a change from my normal 3 mile route. It also serves as a nature preserve, so I took the opportunity to learn more about the plants, birds, and mammals that dwell here. I will take in my bicycle tomorrow as it needs the rim strip fixed which is why I didn't finish changing it yesterday.

I am so sorry, Ruth, about your poor DH and I'm still trying to take in the mass shooting in Pittsburgh.

I am now hoping for a good year of skiing as there is now snow in the mountains and some of the passes are closed for the season.

Good news is that my foot is now mostly healed. I think another week until I will be able to run on it. But it doesn't hurt to walk anymore.

As for rain, I hate treadmills even more. So it's outside almost no matter what the weather. The only thing I won't do is black ice as can fall on my butt without that help. This is the woman who has a bump on her head from getting her bicycle down on Saturday. I expect to get good use out of my new rainhat.

Not quite ready for a day of work, but Monday is here. Happy new week everyone! - Claire

40 minutes on the treadmill this morning and 10 minutes on the stair machine. New implants feeling better but am only 6 weeks out from exchange so leaving the arms alone a little longer. I am gently stretching for range of motion.

Hi ladies, a hard day here. We got home from the funeral and family stuff about 5:00 and both went to exercise (DH machines, me Zumba). DH comes from a large family, which is really a blessing when things are rough because there are lots of people to share the burden. SIL leaves behind two adult children and three grandchildren who will miss her very much. Her husband died in a car accident many years ago, so she raised the kids alone & it makes her sudden passing particularly sad.

Claire- I'm with you about the treadmill. I've had to resort to the treadmill when the heat index went into the high 90s.. This am it was a beautiful 67 degrees and by noon it was 80 degrees. A beautiful day. Soon as I arrived home from work, threw on shoes and I was out the door.

    Heidi- what a beautiful picture.

Welcome Rachel! Glad your implants are feeling better.

Karen: Like you and everyone else, I am still trying to process the senseless murders in Pittsburgh.

Ruth: I'm sure today was hard on everyone. Glad you and dh were able exercise after getting home. I know it would have helped me and I hope it helped both of you.

Pat: Get your tail back on the wagon. You know how much better you feel when you're there!

Hi All! My city of about 18,000 has an annual Barbecue Festival. This year was the 35th one. It's grown so much in those years and 200,000 people were expected to attend the one day event. It's crazy and fun at the same time. I parked cars for my church and then walked around the festival.

Weather has been fabulous so I've been walking/running daily. The leaves are finally turning. Best time of the year for me!

Ruth - hugs to you...again my condolences...My family is small, so losses are really felt...

Not many steps today - left in the dark and got home in the dark - had a 7:00 am staffing then one at 4 - 6pm. In between I conducted 7 504 Plans - all at 3 different schools.....thankfully tomorrow I don't have to leave till 7:30 so I can get a morning walk. Sandal weather again today - don't remember wearing sandals the end of October - I think this year I've worn them for 7 months!!! not bad for living in Denver!!

POUND, bought Halloween candy ( if I had bought it any earlier, it would be gone by now!), met up with a friend & walked the grandpuppies with her and her dogs, raked and bagged leaves (I am not so fond of the lovely old shade trees in my backyard at the moment), and that's all I am doing today!

Thanks Wonderland! Happy to report I walked 4 miles yesterday and 4 miles today! Just beautiful out today, and it really cleared my head of pressing family issues. My brother collapsed at exercise class last week, and got a bad concussion when he hit the ground. Long story short, it was his heart and he needed a pacemaker. Since getting home from surgery he is confused and very agitated. He has 6 adult children, 4 who live out of state, and 2 who live with him because quite frankly they aren't capable of living alone. 2 of his away daughters came to bring him home from the hospital, get him situated with meds, etc., and he threw them out of the house and told them not to come back. Another daughter called him today and he told her not to come, and that he's not taking his meds until he can figure out the instructions, because 1st two daughters lost them (not true). Very sad and stressful situation for all, and 2 kids living at home are not prepared to handle it, as he has cared for them their whole lives. 4th daughter has health care proxy, so she called his primary care today to see if he could call her Dad and get him on the right track. So I am going to visit him tomorrow (without calling first) armed with baked goods, just to see for myself how he is doing. If I call he'll say don't come. He may throw me out too, but I decided on my long walk today that if he does all I would have wasted is 3 hours of driving there and back, and some time (which I have plenty of since I'm retired). It's so sad, we just had a lovely vacation in Wales together in september, and now this.

I walked three and a half miles tonight. What a beautiful evening. Low 70s and Breezy. Absolutely gorgeous.

I love all the holidays but there is something special about Halloween. I've turned my front yard and 1/2 my house into a haunted house for Halloween.

Pat- it's a good idea to notify your brothers physician ASAP.

Oh no Pat! Major prayers your way. Will also mention that walking may save your sanity in this situation. I think that baked goods are a brilliant ploy. Good luck. - Claire

Pat, so sorry to hear about your family issues; baked goods are always a good strategy, and keep walking! Ruth, sorry about your tough day also.

I've been walking the beautiful trails around my office, about an hour a day in the middle of the day. I prefer walking in the am, but it is just so dark!

    Hugs to all
