Ran a 5k and worked half a day. For the past 2 hours I've been working in my garden. I'm desperately trying to find some shade for my orchids. It's just so hot and humid right now. We skipped spring and went right into summer

Goodness Karen, you better ice & just gentle stretching until things settle down.

It seems like the weather is at one extreme or the other all over the country this spring. Very discouraging!

I bought a bunch of groceries (we didn't even have a loaf of bread in the house!), took a nap (which I NEVER do), and then walked with DS and the dogs & took him (DS) out to dinner as his birthday is tomorrow.

My dad was in the U.S. Army during WWII. He fought in the Pacific Theater of the war and was with the troops who occupied Japan after the war. One of the highlights of my life was when, in 2007, I accompanied him and 200 other WWII veterans on an Honor Flight to Washington, DC. There we visited their memorial and other meaningful sites. I salute all in the Armed Forces who died battle, and all who lived to carry on a legacy of service.

I had an active weekend, first taking care of my Goldendoodle nephew with lots of walks including landing in the mud on my butt. He loved it!!! I meant to get in a ride yesterday, but I had access to a shop vac and a place to spread out, so spent 2 hours giving Rexxie (my Subaru) some love. Amazing what I tossed, and how fab Rexxie looks now. My nephew and I both had baths afterwards.

Today was the 7 Hills of Kirkland. I didn't need more than seven, and have to say that I am noticing the 3000'+ of climbing. Some of this was trudging up the hill with bicycle. That counts. The good news is that at least two of the hills I did make it up cycling are the equivalent of anything on the Seattle-to-Portland, so I am in good shape.

Just ordered a new bicycle headlight and can't believe how cheap USB ones are now. I chose no rush shipping so get some cash to spend on the next cycling item I need.

Legs, waistline, and shoulders are showing results....YIPPIE!!!! Not to mention increased lung capacity.

Not quite ready to face a week of work, but it will happen, and I will prevail. - Claire

MCBaker, you may have something there about the Internet. It is depressing. Hope the doctor gets your blood pressure under control.

Karen and Ruth, we all have veteran fathers, so that makes us almost sisters. Loopy Some of my dad's closest friends died in the Bataan Death March. He was lucky to have gotten deployed Stateside as he spoke fluent Japanese and was being trained as a cryptographer. He was also in the occupation force in Japan, visiting places like Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Jo, sounds like a beautiful area.

We were supposed to go to the mountains but the weather is yucky again. Managed to get a walk with the dog in before the rain.

Thankfully, my back is better today - not perfect, but good!!! Rain and hail last night. Planted a few more flowers yesterday - hope all the hail and rain does them good! We waited till Memorial Day and then hail!! I think it's supposed to rain most of the day. Guess, I need to dig out an umbrella - doesn't get used often in Denver.

    Last week of school :)

    Have a great Tuesday.

claire- you are in incredible shape. When is your next major bike event? Hopefully work settles down.

My father was a paratrooper with the army during the Korean War. Even though my father is a very talkative person he rarely ever spoke of the war.

I just got in from a power walk. I am on treatment 26/33 of radiation, and the area under my arm is very raw and painful, so I tend to walk with that arm not moving much. I feel like that Seinfeld character that didn't move her arms when she walks lol! I'm going to ask my RO if it's safe to sweat while I'm burnt because I don't see how that area will heal well if I don't keep it dry.

My dad WAS a talker! He kept in touch with the guys in his unit, went to all their reunions, & until well into his 80s published a twice a year newsletter about what everyone was doing and some of their memories. When I was teaching, I had him come in and talk to my students a couple different times and I still share his stories when the opportunity arises. I already think of us all as sisters, Heidi! Heart

My POUND class was cancelled this morning so I will go to either a Barre or Strength training class this evening. It's a nice day here so I will for sure walk the dogs this afternoon.

Hi. First post in this thread. This morning I walked the dog 1.2 miles and did 2 swift miles by myself. Then I did a 10 min arm workout. This is my current daily routine.

I used to do more cardio (1.2 mi for the dog, then run 5k for myself), but I tore my calf in March and haven't gotten back to normal. Now BC, so I'm worried my fitness will slip even more. Oh well. One day at a time. :-)

I'm hoping to stay in shape through treatment so I can look and feel my best my son's wedding in September. Cheers!

Happyperidot, welcome and September is not that far off! MCBaker, Pilates is good for working back to wellness. A gentle suggestion, when bridging, don't just hang in the air, just hold for a few seconds and try a rep of 5-10. You could also lift a leg high, if you feel like progressing. Brexit is a mess, and has ripped this country apart. Jo, you are so good!

I too am a daughter of both parent's who served. My father was a air force pilot who flew the "the Hump", a high altitude military aerial supply route between the Assam Valley in northeastern India, across northern Burma, to Yunnan province in southwestern China, flown during World War II. My mother was an air force psychiatric nurse and both held the rank of lieutenant. They are buried in Riverside National Cemetery.

Had my older populations class and Pilates today. Let's keep at it!

OK, that makes sense for the bridges. I tried holding one leg out, could not, but with sit-ups getting easier, I should be able to work up to it. Learned how to do interval work on the exercise bike today. Did 100 calories on the bike, went across the street for the sauna, and got sweaty. Sauna is more effective after aerobic exercise.

Not feeling good tonight, I think I have a tooth/sinus infection.

Me too, my dad was a Canadian armed forces Korean War vet. I miss him and am so proud of him.

I had a breast MRI this morning, that is quite the experience, uncomfortable and have to stay still for 30 minutes in a very awkward position. But i survived :). I had physio today so did the exercises with her. Plus a busy day at work taking the stairs.

Our weather has been terrible. But yesterday spent the day outlet shopping, that was fun.

happyperidot-Welcome. In time you will have your strength back

Ruth-Is that a pic of the car bandit?

It was too hot to run this evening so I did 30 minutes on the elliptical machine and thirty minutes on the treadmill. There isn't anything more boring than the elliptical machine. I did spend 15 to 20 minutes playing Fetch with my dogs. They have me very well trained.

The car bandit is adorable! I am still on the recovering end of things. Taking multiple dog walks but nothing more aggressive for now. I developed a seroma which the BS drained yesterday and it's already full again. I think I will be going to the gym and doing the stationary bike. It is hot down here! Dog walks are very early and very late in the day. Hopefully you ladies have a good day

The Wednesday Walking Women took our Annual Field Trip to a larger town 100 miles away. We walked in a beautiful park, met up with some friends who retired there for lunch, did a little shopping and home we came. My Book Club meets tonight, so a busy day!

Springflowers - are you in Canada? My Dad went to the reunion in 1999 in S. Korea and met QWII. I have the album with the invitation from QEII and lots of great photos of Dad with the queen and of the guys. They were all so proud.

My dad kept in touch with many Canadian Korean War vets. He was just a kid when he ran away to the military!!! He was the youngest with two older sisters. Dad was very close with his oldest sister. After Dad passed away, Mom gave me an old photo album with pictures from S. Korea that I had never seen before. I just emailed copies to my brother and a cousin. It was fun to email my cousin back and forth.

    Happy - welcome

Ruth - the pup is adorable -

My back and groin are hurting even just sitting - yesterday it was better so I don't know what is going on. I'm just so drained today and cranky because of it. Took 2 acetaminophen before dinner - but it hasn't done much good. I'm not supposed to take NASIDs due to kidneys.

Tomorrow is my last day of the school year (since I don't work Fridays). Its been a crazy strange year!

    Sweet dreams :)

I went to the gym today. Did everything that I couldn't do at home. Stopped at the Senior Center and had a Penuchle lesson, got home, medicated my hands and feet, then took my oral meds. Then I followed through and finished my exercises. I am proud of myself. Of course, I could have planned my day better.

So many veterans in our parents. That shows how everyone served. My dad was in the army at the end of WWII and during the Korean War. My husband was in the army during Vietnam.

Yesterday I did 35 minutes of weeding and my first short bike ride of the season -40 minutes. Today I mowed both front and back. We have had so much rain this is staying in my exercise cycle pretty frequently.

Hi Everyone, Haven't been on much. We still have 4 more weeks of school!!! And I am really ready to be done! On a positive note I can notice that it is easier for me to get up and down off the floor with the littles at my elementary school, so that is progress and I am only 18 moths out from my last surgery! Yay

I have been doing intervals on the treadmill 2 per week, some light lifting and exercises with my students, and yoga at the Breast Cancer Coalition 1X/week. I need to step it up so I can get thru the last few weeks!

MCBaker, I notice you are in WI...I am from Appleton and worked in Milwaukee where my son goes to school.

Welcome to all the new exercisers!

Tomorrow is Friday and our big field trip to Lake Ontario for a picnic and walking in the sand. I am sure I will need a rest at the end of the day!!!

    Have a good weekend !

I'm officially on summer vacation till August 9th - well really the 12th since I don't work Fridays! I do have 2 different professional development classes that I'm taking - both are 2 days - one third week in June and one the first week in August. I think I get paid for both, but if not, at least I don't have to pay registration fee which is good!

Now its time to get serious about walking again - need to get back above 15K on week days- I've been getting 12K many days but there have been a couple with the lousy weather that I was lucky if I got to 10K. June is my month to do things in the house - look for a few things that I put away for "safe keeping' that I don't remember where, go through the crawl space and get rid of stuff that we don't use or need that the kids don't want and tidy up the rest of the house. We still have to figure out what are work we are keeping from my mother. There are probably 10 pieces sitting in my living room on the floor between the piano and one sofa and between the other sofa and coffee table. It's really just avoidance.

Ruth - 90 in ND!!! We only got to 70 - you can keep the 90s.

    Sweet dreams

I've had a crazy week and haven't been on much either..trying to keep up with the exercise though: mostly hiking, walking, stretches. My daughter just celebrated her first year anniversary as a Zumba instructor: she says it is the therapy that gets her through her day job! Wish I was close enough geographically to take her class!

My father is a WWII veteran, Purple Heart recipient and POW: he was shot and captured by the Germans in the Battle of the Bulge and spent the last part of the war as a POW in a camp outside of Dresden (from where he watched Dresden burn; it was the same camp that Kurt Vonnegut was in and that inspired 'Slaughterhouse Five'....). I am very proud of his service. And yes, he is still here: about to celebrate his 97th birthday!

Heading out on a short camping trip this weekend...Hope all have a good weekend!
