Hi ladies, I have had a busy day. I got up and went to a Cardio Sculpt class. Luckily I know how to modify stuff because everyone else in there was at least 30 years younger than me!! I then washed windows; which IS am athletic endeavor in a split level house. To do the kitchen window, I have to stand in the kitchen sink and reach way out to get to the edges of the panes. For the rest, I need to stand on a step ladder and do the same. It was gorgeous this afternoon so DH & I walked the grandpuppies. We are going to the Elton John movie Rocketman tonight, which will be a good excuse to sit down doing nothing. I think I will deserve some popcorn too!!

I got a good start working in my new garden this morning. Chopped up the soil where it had been stomped on the most by my brother-in-law. Started putting the newspapers down for keeping the weeds under control and enticing the earthworms to the surface. I am starting at the edges and working inwards, but they need to be taught that their role is to become one with the soil, and not respond with joy whenever a slight breeze passes by. Rain will be a great help with that. I was pretty worn out after that, and I only have about half the garden covered, with the paper weighed down by whatever seems to be around. by the time I was done with that, I thought I was done for the day. But I did go to the gym and get on the recumbent bike for a while. I then realized that I already had exercised as much as I needed for the day.

Both he and my sister thought that giving me a new garden (the previous one has been re-seeded; it is a swamp) would encourage me to get more exercise. Yeah........

mary- your garden is going to be beautiful once everything starts growing. Late last night I worked in my backyard. I'm still transplanting my orchids. It's a very time-consuming tasks but I do enjoy it. I'm going to work on the balance ball this morning prior to going to work. Tomorrow evening I have a 5K Twilight run. Unfortunately it supposed to be in the high 80s /low 90s during the Run. It is always fun seeing familiar faces. I would give anything for rain. Keep moving.

Ruth- I remember seeing Elton John in 2005 at the Roman Colosseum. It was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. My friends did not want to go to the concert with me because they believed Elton John was past his prime. Instead he put on one of the most incredible and memorable shows of all time.

I'm doing a 5k charity run (walk for me) this morning (when it will be 50 degrees) & then DH are jumping in the car & going to a casino for a concert, some fireworks, some gambling (for him, I'd just as soon flush $20 down the toilet and call it good). We'll be back sometime tomorrow (I hope in time for yoga).

    Happy Saturday!

There are some storms in the area, and it is predicted to be cooler today, so I will go out and put down more newspapers in my garden. Maybe I will get to the point of planting some strawberries. I think I will end up working until I can't any more; no gym today.

just got back from a 3.5 mile walk. Holy heck it’s humid today!! No fun with my radiation burns. Taking it easy the rest of the day since I slept horribly last night and it’s supposed to storm later today. Tomorrow I’ll be working on my daughter’s school’s sensory garden trying to get the weeds under control with a natural weed spray and planting pumpkin seeds so the teachers have pumpkins for their classrooms in the fall.

Yesterday I walked at the lake in between rain storms. The good thing is there was almost no one there. Today the weather is perfect. I weeded another flower bed and put up a decorative fence and solar lights. Then I walked the dog. image

Here's a picture from my 5K yesterday. A local car dealership & our regional medical center partner for the 'Running of the Pink'. 100% of the money raised stays local and goes to a program that provides free breast & cervical cancer screening to low income people (and helps them financially if further testing/treatment is needed). For encouragement to new gals here, the lady on the left & we three on the right are all breast cancer survivors.

Not that much to report, but I did the Lake Sammamish Loop today. I had been dreading it as "difficult". Piece of cake after the 7 Hills ride last Monday. Amazing what a bit of training can do! - Claire

Happy Birthday to your dad, octogirl! Amazing what he went through. Love the purple flowers, Twohobbies. Love the pink women, Ruth. Great job, Jo and Claire.

Yesterday's exercise was tennis in the hot sun with DH. We were both so bad for our season opener we decided not to play a match, just hit balls. Saturday was a 4 hour bike ride with my SIL.

I decided to do heart rate running for the month of June (while I'm going through radiation). So 4 miles yesterday at a slug pace and 3 today.

GAWD it's so boring. Basically you run by heart rate alone, and stay in the aerobic range--I typically run a lot faster but I can't right now w/o my heart rate climbing out of the aerobic range.

Guess surgery really does impact the body Winking

Today is the first official day of summer break for my kids, which mean no more long walks in the mornings. They're 4 and 6, so too old for a stroller, and too young to keep up over longer distances on their bikes. So until August it's exercise DVDs or the elliptical for me, unless I wait until my husband comes home from work and I go for my walks/runs at night. With the weather getting warmer I probably wouldn't be exercising outdoors for much longer anyway. I don't do well in heat, plus I need to keep my radiation burns out of the sun. My kids will keep me very busy doing other things outside though!

Scheduled to donate blood this morning as its been 8 weeks - I get there and while do the pre-donation work, they tell me that its too soon based on the volume of blood taken over the past year - so frustrated. I can give again June 13th so scheduled an appointment for then. I only started back donating last year after not donating since Dx. Now I want to keep it up while I can.

Had labs drawn last week and all is stable so that is good. But I've had so many blood draws over the past 9 months, my poor vein is disappearing and it is getting harder to get the blood out!!! My right arm is great, but since that is the BC side with axillary nodes removed (left side is prophy) not supposed to use right arm for blood draws, B/P etc.

Heading out for a long morning walk. Then going to go work in the spare bedroom/office tidying up and going through things. Spent time yesterday throwing out work paperwork from way too many years ago!!! Lots more to do. Then its closet in oldest DD's room and crawl space. Out of sight, out of mind!!!

    Have a great Monday.

SickTiredI'm now going to sit in the recliner until it's time to go to bed!!!

    Hi ladies!!

First official day of summer vacation for me! I have been busy and haven't checked for several months! I occasionally come on to read but have not posted. Our youngest son played high school baseball this spring and that kept us going until a few weeks ago. May was the usual crazy month it always is...baseball, end of school year/work craziness, grad parties, opening up our camper at the lake. Somehow I managed to keep up with my running and working out and happy to say I ended May with more running miles than April! I am ready for summer!

Today I did 30 min of strength work, a 4 mile run and off to take the dog for her 2nd walk today!

Two mile walk with dog and husband this morning. Shorter walk this evening due to the heat. I love the morning walk more. If I get out early enough I can see the egret in the neighborhood pond. And geese

2Fun- I will gladly give you my warmer weather. It's been staying in the low 90s with high humidity. Instead of running 3 miles outside this evening I used the treadmill. The treadmill is boring but at least it's cool inside my house.

Runnermom and Ruth- The weather patterns have been insane this year. You guys had a miserable winter. Enjoy the warmer weather.

Well, summer has started, but for those teachers on the board, I have extended the school year by participating at the AP Reading...the grading of the AP exam free response section.  So I am trapped in a convention center for 9 hours a day with only scheduled feeding breaks. I, and many others, break out and walk laps around the center so have been getting 13K+ in steps and 70+ minutes of activity each day.  It is an 8 day event! Hopefully that offsets all the sitting/grading! TT

Today's workout was weights for legs and arms. I'm also still rehabbing my pelvis (fractured it last year). I upped the arm weights and I'm looking forward to getting back to my pre-surgery weight amounts. Oh and abs. Always abs. After 7 major abdominal surgeries, daily abs are required. Ha!

I went to the gym today. Last night I had one last piece of gardening to do, but I decided to do it last night, so I could go to the gym today. Used one of their activity trackers, and discovered that I burned 300 calories!!

All the plants transplanted without even one death. And that includes the one that I thought I had damaged the stem.
