The Walking Women walked around town today, taking some back ways. I went to mat pilates at noon and am trying to convince myself to do some weights at home tonight.

    Nice trails, HikingLady and Ruth!

Heidi: Yikes on your insurance but glad your neck in better. Maybe one day I'll visit Switzerland!

Hi All! Walked this morning. Pulled weeds for 90 minutes. Severely pruned a neglected camellia bush for 90 minutes. That bush has got to feel better now! One more camellia bush to go.

    Hi all!

Ran 4 miles this morning, walked the dog 2 miles and did 20 min of ab work. Did nothing yesterday....think I had a bit of food poisoning from Caribou Coffee!! Had not had any breakfast only coffee when I got up yesterday. A bit later a friend dropped off another coffee from Caribou for me. It was soon after I had cramping and was in bathroom a few times. Took a nap in the afternoon and woke up feeling better. So weird. Wonder if it was some bad cream in the coffee or something? Tomorrow I have a 3 mile run on my schedule and will go to gym for barre class. Most likely dog will get a walk or 2 in also.

Quick question for those of you currently on or have been on Armidex or any antihormonals in the past. I started Tamox in Jan 18. Last spring I dealt with some PF and a tight Achilles which I chalked up to running and a very sore tender left wrist which I blamed on yoga. The PF and tight Achilles improved but wrist stayed sore thru summer even though I was not doing as much yoga. I had switched to Armidex in June after my oophorectomy. My wrist got better last fall and my feet were fine until March again this year. My PF flared up in both feet this spring and now I am dealing with the wrist pain again also but this time in right wrist. I have seen my chiro for the PF, done the golf ball, stretching it, wear shoes most of time when I am in the house and it has not gotten any better. Wondering if the Armidex could be causing it? I am hell bent on staying on these meds for as long as I need to but dont want to stop running either. At this point it's very stiff in the morning but lessens up with walking. I can still run. I can feel it but no pain. It is painful after my runs. I just am worried it will continue to get worse.

Runner: I had lots of foot pain on Arimidex. It GREATLY lessened after I stopped the med (I was on it for 3 years. I started on Tamox for 2 years then switched to Arim). I figure I have some arthritis in my feet now.

Also, I had wrist tendonitis from Taxol in my right wrist. I had the same in my left wrist 30 years ago. At that time I had cortisone shots, braces, etc. but I knew I needed surgery to correct and so I did. So when the pain started again in my right wrist, I only had one shot, wore a brace for a little time and finally decided to have the surgery.

I don't know where your wrist pain is, but there is a test to determine if it's De Quervain's tenosynovitis. The test really works bc when the ortho did it to me I told him I would hit him if he did it again.

    Here's the Finkelstein test:

Image result for test for wrist tendonitis

Hope this helps. Lots of ladies have terrible pain on Arimidex including the feet and wrists. I have arthritis in my fingers. Arim really brought it out. Figured I would develop it due to family history. Luckily my fingers don't hurt - they just look strange. I'll take that any day!

Wonderland!!! Yes..that is exactly where and how I feel the pain in my wrist! Funny I didn't feel the pain in right wrist as much. I would describe that wrist as more sore. But definitley in the left like you said. Could hit someone. Thank you so much! I too have wondered if chemo brought some of this out since I have had the pain while taking both Tamoxifen and Armidex and prior.. The stiffness in my feet I could feel in the mornings after getting out of bed during chemo. My chiro mentioned that chemo could have started it also.

Runner: Yikes! Hate you have this pain but now you know you need to make an ortho appt. They will at least fit you with a proper brace and maybe give you a shot. If you get a shot, be sure to go to your happy place as it's being injected. It can really hurt. Bawling You have my permission to hit the doctor during your appointment if you need to. Smile

I see you had Taxol. It did a number on me - lots of joint pain. I dreaded getting out of bed in the morning. I felt like I was 100 years old! After my 2nd one I didn't think I could handle the last 2. My onc gave me Vicodin which helped. It was a time when doctors could prescribe Vicodin, thank goodness.

Please continue to keep me informed! Heart

Runner - On Arimidex I had horrid joint pain and developed bilateral carpel tunnel - had surgery on right wrist.....waiting on left wrist then went off AIs and the CTS went away in left wrist. Started back on Aromasin and developed bilateral deQuervanes tendonitis requiring surgery. I'm sure that this was due to the Aromasin. I endured them for 3 1/2 years and then said enough is enough - that was in March 2010. My oncologist knows that unless something new comes out, I won't go back on AIs or tamox.

Good conference today but long day. Left at 7:30 and got home at 6:30. Conference is in Boulder which in rush hour traffic is at least an hour if I'm in the toll lane which goes faster. Otherwise it would have been 75+ minutes. Managed to get 2 good walks in this morning and 15K steps. Hope I can do that again tomorrow. Beautiful weather today.

    Sweet dreams

Got my Brave Like Gabe running shirt yesterday so I ran in it this morning. This was on tap to be a heart rate run but I guess radiation is affecting me more than I wanted to think it would. I could NOT keep my heart rate out of threshold and into max rates. I'm counting down the days til rads is over and I can be done with that. Today will be 14 of 20 with the last five being boosts.

I forget who it was who said she ended up running with the arm on the radiated side held out a bit like a chicken wing. I'm doing that now too, I'm sure I look super silly (and frankly I DGAF).

Thank you again Wonderland and Karen. I have been reading a few threads on this site regarding AI's and tendon/joint pain and have a few things up my sleeve to try. Hope they help! I have a 3m check up with MO next week so will talk to him and going to make an appt with my chiro for acupuncture. I did this for a few months following chemo last winter and felt very good. My hubby was dx with arthritis in his knee this winter and had the cortisone shot. It helped him be able to run again. So hoping it can help me too.

Edj3...I ran thru radiation until the very end. I remember having to stop the last week as my skin had broke down pretty bad and it was painful to have sports bra or any friction rubbing against skin. I had 28 treatments + 5 boosts and I started right back up again after I was done and my skin was healing. Have you tried Mepilex dressing yet? It saved me and my skin recovered quickly!I Your chicken wing description made me laugh. Many years ago I fell on ice and fx my elbow in 2 spots. Was in a cast for 6wks. Was told no running. Towards the end I couldn't take it I any more and started to run on a treadmill with the cast on against Drs wishes. Had some pretty funny looks at gym but I didn't care either. Pretty sure I looked like I had a chicken wing also!

edj3- I ran through chemo and radiation. My skin was a little pink from the radiation but it never turned red. I did use a prescription cream abd I believed the cream helped. There were times heavy perspiration really irritated the heck out of the radiated side. My neighbor takes taxol and she constantly complains of moderate to severe joint pain.

I forget where I saw the recommendation, but someone had recommended MiaDerm which I'm using. And it does help--when I got home yesterday from rads, my skin was super irritated and I slathered that stuff on, and then again right before bed. Things looked less angry this morning (of course that will probably change after rads today!).

I think running is as important to my treatment plan as just about anything else.

edj, you are almost there. Remember that the radiation is still working in your system for about 2 weeks after your last treatment (saying this just so you don't get discouraged about the pace of things calming down).

Runner, a couple years ago I ended up in PT with a terrible case of tendinitis (not Arimidex related as I finished that up several years before then). Along with injections & exercises, the PT said that over the years my feet had changed & I needed to go in a totally different direction. I had wore the same style running shoes very successfully for years & I had to ditch them all (plus all my cheapo sandals, everyday shoes etc.). Since I had multiple pairs.....indoor, outdoor, ones waiting in the wings, it was a VERY expensive switch over, but well worth it in the end. Maybe something to check out anyway.

I went to Zumba & yoga this morning. A very nice combination. It is dark & rainy here today.....makes me want to take a nap!

Thank you Ruth! Yes I am beginning to wonder if I should look into switching my running shoes to help with the PF. I have worn Asics Nimbus for running, for many many years with no problems. A few years ago I bought a new pair and I noticed they fit different. The last 3 pairs I have owned I have actually had to go up a half size. They have definitely made some changes to the Nimbus model the past few years. I bought a new pair this spring. Many years ago ( about 8-9) I had some issues with my IT band which caused a minor PF flare up as well. I ditched the cheap sandals and shoes at that time. Invested in custom orthotics. I now wear quality shoes all the time, the only sandals I wear regularly are chacos, birkenstocks, oofos, sorels, etc and wear a pr of running shoes inside all the time. Thinking it may be worth it to stop over to my local running store and get fitted for shoes again. May help!

Ran 3 miles and showed up at gym for Barre class only to find out there was a sub who had never been to Barre class so it was now a yoga class. It was actually a good 60 min yoga class with a very knowledgeable instructor so was happy so decided to stay.

Ruth- thanks so much about bringing up your feet assessment by your PT. It is especially important for people as they age to have feet assessments done. The changes are usually subtle. Our feet like the rest of our body changes shape, direction, etc. It is especially important for people who exercise regularly. Walkers and runners need a good fitting shoe. Sometimes that means making the ultimate sacrifice, throwing away shoes which don't meet the needs of your feet/body and buying better fitting shoes. If your feet don't feel good ; the rest of your body isn't going to feel good. It can effect your ankles, knees, hips and back.

jo6359, so true. I finally, finally embraced the fact that I have a low volume, narrow foot with long toes and if the shoes aren't perfect right out of the box then they are not the shoes for me. As much as I want to be able to wear Vans or Converse, my toes prohibit that. I'd far rather run than damage my feet or my toes.

Runnermum - I hate it when I get a really good running shoe and the company goes and changes it. My husband got a pair of Hokas and he loves them. I can't go to that low of heel drop. I'm working on it gradually. I am walking as much as I can and to start run walking soon. Still trying to get into the Qigong yoga

July 13th, training begins for the Halloween half marathon . Last year I attempted to train for a half marathon via a running app . I was unsuccessful. I made it to eight and a half miles but I began experiencing knee and ankle pain . In the back of my mind I blamed the TCHP I was still receiving every 3 weeks. This year I'm coming up with new excuses. Stifling heat, expense and extensive training time with a group. I cannot do my training on a treadmill because I have to be prepared for the extreme heat. My mind wants a new physical challenge but I'm not sure if my body is up to the task. I ran 5 miles on the treadmill tonight and 30 minutes on the elliptical machine.

Runner - I too wear Asics Nimbus - but I rarely wear them as I walk in my Chaco sandals in the summer and my Blundstone boots or Sanitas clogs the rest of the year. But the newest pair I bought of the Nimbus run bigger than the pairs I owned before.

Second day of conference was good - except the last session I went to - I should have left it and go to a different one. But overall the two days were great information. Next training is August 5 and 6 a week before I go back for the new school year.

Nice long walk at the lake yesterday-55 minutes.

I had trigger thumb when I started anastrazole, and my MO said it is the medication. I was able to resolve it on my own by getting a new ergonomic computer mouse and lots of heat packs. I have also changed AI but not sure if that could be a factor or not. So I feel its a combination of physical aggravation and the medication.

Continued thanks for the advice and suggestions ladies. It is wonderful to have groups like this for support. Many friends just expect that I am now "fine" since going thru al! of this. They don't understand the ramifications of our diagnosis, treatments, medicine, ec. It is nice to have others that have been thru it and continue to go thru it as well. 2 Hobbies...about the time this started with my right wrist last year I had just upgraded to a new larger kindle. I wanted the larger screen as my 48 yr old eye are also aging. 😜 Very well could be contributing to the wrist issues also.

6 mile negative split run and post run foam rolling.. Heading out now to pick up groceries for the weekend. Will head to our trailer at the lakes this afternoon and will Get in a nice long walk with our dog this evening down there. I

Runnermum, nice on the negative splits!

I run in Brooks. I've tried Hokas but I have really narrow, low volume foot so any shoe with a wide toe box (looking at you, Altras, and you, Hokas) is right out. I slosh side to side in them which is no good at all.

Aqua Zumba this morning. I will try to get a walk in this afternoon between all the rain showers we've been having & maybe do a little toning. Tomorrow we are in S.D. all day for a family reunion with DH's relatives.
