edj3....I have a narrow heal, high arch and a wide toe box. And it's been years since I was fitted. Will be interesting to see if anything has changed.

edj3- Brooks is my favorite running shoe. I like the additional support at the ankle. I have never heard of the Hokas shoe but I'm going to check it out.

I wear New Balance for sneakers.

I have a narrow heel and need a wide (and deep) toebox. I used to wear Sauconys until the narrowed the toe box. My latest is a New Balance but I will look at Hokas when I start running again. I think they are a zero heel drop so not the easiest to transition to from a higher heel

Mommyof2- I've never been able to wear a new balance running shoe. I have odd shaped feet. I would never order a running shoe online. I want to try on my shoes to make sure of the fit. One of the great things about purchasing from a running store is they do a thorough assessment of your feet. I'm pretty much obligated to purchase my shoes from a specific running store because I'm part of their running group.

Unfortunately my local running store doesn't carry shoes that work for me. I'm also a member of a local running group associate with that store and I would LOVE to support them more.

Ran 10K this morning, first time since I ran a 10K race a year ago on that stupid fractured pelvis. No that wasn't a smart thing to do, but I didn't know it was broken. But I felt good today, kept it nice and slow and even beat the thunderstorms!

I don't buy shoes online either. New Balance are the only sneakers that fit the inserts that were made for me after my Bunion removal surgery back in '01. The podiatrist I had at the time said for my feet, that New Balances are the best. They may be a bit pricey but they are sure comfy.

Such a beautiful, perfect weather day-75, sunny, wind out of the east pushing that fresh Lake Michigan breeze my way. I would like to order 300 more just like it. I mowed my lawn, went for a walk, weeded, and almost went for a bike ride too, but turns out my tire isflat and needs repair. I just did not want to come inside.

I took a day trip to visit my mother and father. My mother has been a bit under the weather lately so she had a lot of visitors today. The grandchildren become very nervous when Grandma isn't up to par. They're used to my mom having a high energy level. Her balance has been unsteady lately. So physical therapy is going to start on Monday. I set my mom up with a walker today and gave her a home exercise program for strengthening and improving balance. Seeing baby Serenity definitely cheered her up.

I am in training mode so did 25 miles of cycling and have a Metric Century in the early AM. And then, I took the plunge for August 2020 and signed up for the cycling tour of Skye and the Inner Hebrides (Scotland) which should be just fabulous. I realized that I needed a longer term bucket list item to look forward to, and that if I didn't sign up super-early, it wouldn't happen.
I am so excited!!!
I am planning on this being the launch of a series of cycling holidays in fabulous places: Central Europe, Burgundy/Rhone Valley, Germany. I am doing escorted so I don't miss all the great items, and for Scotland, it's really helpful to have a support vehicle in case you get a flat 16 miles from nowhere. The Scotland tour features fabulous food and single malt on top of spectacular scenery. Brew pubs as well.
Of course, there are fabulous places to cycle here as well. But I have wanted to get back to Northwest Scotland for at least 20 years. And now it's going to happen. - Claire

What a cute baby, Jo!
Wow Claire, that trip sounds fabulous!! I am already looking forward to the pictures!
I got up early & did the treadmill before heading south for a day of eating, visiting, and playing games. We just got home and I will take 500 more steps around the house (to get to 10,000) and then go to bed. I am tired!!

Hello! 4 mile run this morning around the resort town in MN where our trailer is parked, 1.5 mile walk with the dog, some beach time and 45 min of kayaking. Now I am relaxing with a beer on the deck enjoying this beautiful summer day at our lake place and celebrating 2 years cancer free today! Life is good. ❤

Claire that trip sounds wonderful!!

That trip really does sound amazing.
And Runnermum, I'm jealous of your run! We had severe thunderstorms this AM with an inch of rain in about an hour. Fortunately I ran yesterday but it would have been nice to have the option today too.

This afternoon, I went to Pound, followed by yoga today. Since it was a gorgeous afternoon, our yoga class was held outside (which I love!!). I also went for a dog walk. Tomorrow I'm meeting up with my old teacher friends in the Minneapolis area (the same group that spends a week together in Florida each winter). They are not 'exercisers' so I will have a couple days off. I'll be back (and back at it) Wednesday evening.
Runner, have you gotten to Zorbas yet? (It's a popular restaurant/bar where she is). Life is indeed good!!!

Was going to do some housework today but got too busy with other things. Tomorrow is laundry day and minor housecleaning

claire- Scotland is so beautiful. You are getting into serious shape. I ran 5 miles this morning, worked all day and then I did 20 flights of stairs before visiting my elderly neighbor in the hospital. She's on the 10th floor so I use the stairs at the hospital. When I exit the hospital the security staff stopped me and asked me if I had a problem. I told him no I just took advantage of having stairs at my disposal.
Runnermum- beautiful pictures of the lake. Enjoy your ice cold beer.

Working in the crawl space this evening - getting winded carrying boxes up the stairs and they aren't even heavy - and I thought I was in good shape. Heart rate was up to 126!!! 3 boxes of text books that are 35-45 years old to throw away - scraps of carpeting - found a set of dishes Pfalsgraff (sp) that I thought I had given away years ago - so giving them away along with a large soup pot. Straightening all the kids stuff (toys, albums etc) and will go through another time. Want to do that with the kids when they are here -
I have my mother's fine silverware that I decided today that I want my girls to have - I have 2 sets - the dilemma is how do I get it to them - I would never put in checked luggage to be stolen and I don't think I can put in carry on because of the knives. Maybe one day I can take a long road trip to Toronto and fill up the car. The daughter in Israel, maybe when someone I know is shipping a lift they could take one small box for me. I have other silver from my mother that I want to girls to have (that is if they want it) - time to start thinning out all the momentos, family stuffed that I have saved all these years.
Well, going back to the crawl space to do a little more work - then I'll do more tomorrow and Tuesday and I'm done for a while.
Sweet dreams

Did a metric century (100k) cycling event for a cancer charity today and chatted with a woman who does survivorship planning afterwards while sipping on a recovery IPA. Talk about needing a shower when I got home! A new route and areas of Washington State I had never seen. So well worth the effort.
Cycling clothes are in the washing machine as I write this.
I need to have some dinner, but really tired from the ride plus 3.5 hours of driving. I am thinking an omelet with leftover veggies.
Suspect I shall sleep soundly this evening. - Claire

Karen....checked luggage for the flatware as silver is no longer the prized item it once was. Unfortunately, a lot of sterling is being melted down now for the metal. I shipped my great aunt's from the house I shared with my ex when I got my possessions back in March. I used the UPS Store, so that is another option. If you ship it, you can insure it, but I learned that I really didn't need to as UPS is that careful. (My sister wanted neither the flatware nor the gorgeous tea set.)
If your daughters don't want the flatware right now, I think you should hold it in case they change their mind. Silver fits just fine in the back of a closet. Some things take a bit of growing into.....such as wanting to set an elegant table.
I am happy to be home. Early evening for a tired body. - Claire

Claire - thanks - I don't plan on giving it away to anyone other than my daughters at this point in time - no rush to get rid of it - but I'll put the offer out there. The sentimental value is worth more than the $ value - one set was my mother's when she got married and the other set matches one that I have from my mother that was my grandmother's - they had a matching set. Needless to say, these are over 65 years old. My youngest is not married and is starting Engineering school in the fall, so it will be awhile till she might want it - I also have my gandmother's fine bone English china, but in a move all but 2 dinner plates broke - yet the bowls and the cups with "scalloped" handles, two on the bowls, one on the cups all survived the move. I also have my mother's china but it is not bone. I should use my mother's as it is very elegant but simple - white with a silver ring around the plate. I have so many things and they are all just sitting - they are more memories than anything.
Claire - and I second what jo said - you are amazing!!! I think I'm in good shape - which I am - but mostly for walking long distances and running short distances. I have a cruiser bike, but I haven't ridden it in a couple years.
jo - I think I'm done for now in the crawl space. It is pretty organized - but I have saved way too much from when my kids were little - toys, clothes, the crib, toddler bed - some I want to keep if I'm lucky enough to have grand children when they visit.
Night, sweet dreams everyone

karen- one of my dear friends has attempted to give her silver tea set and flatware to her daughter and granddaughter without any success. Neither wants to clean it. They both use China for special occasions but they don't care for the "old look of her China". I find her bone china exquisite. Her daughter is 55 and her granddaughter is 20. The granddaughter might change your mind later on in life but I doubt if the daughter will. I find it sad because I think it's wonderful to pass on family heirlooms

I had a set of sterling from my paternal grandparents who were older than normal when they had children. So my silver was from the early 1900s. My younger son's wife received silver from her mother's side of the family, while my older son's wife got nothing (it went to her sister). So she was thrilled to have my set.
But both of them are far more traditional than I am, both have everyday dishes plus china. So I was glad to pass it on to someone who both wanted and will use it.

It’s going to be hot and humid here today so I got a jump on the housework. Hubby told me to take it easy in this heat and to count my housework as myexercise

Four miles this AM, felt pretty good.

Ruth I'll take very hot salsa with tortilla chips, yumm. Jo, cute Serenity! Claire, you will kill it again (12th time?) Edj3, you are doing the best for your healing with all that running.
Just read about the 103 year old woman who still runs 100 meter dashes. We have our work cut out for us, girls!
Got my heart rate up at a spa and some hiking this weekend. Gym has been closed due to water damage. May have to go for a bike ride then.
