Two more quick comments; one of the ladies in my yoga class has severe arthritis in her wrists. She wears a brace & does dolphins instead of down dogs. Modifies other poses as needed.

If you ever get a chance to met anyone on this thread, do so! It is always an amazing (and fun) experience. In some ways, we all 'know' each other on a level that is more profound (or different anyway) the many of our relationships with 'real life' families and friends.

Now, I MUST go do some of my real life stuff!!!!!

    Ruth- loved the pictures!

I just finished a Lauren Roxburgh rebounding routine. I found a few good one on YouTube. No pool today it's been raining since I got home from delivering Meals on Wheels.

Varga: your church gym sounds fantastic! I'll have to look up the rebounding routine you mentioned. I don't know Lauren Roxhurgh. Please send your rain my way. We really need it.

I agree with Ruth about meeting people on the thread. We hugged 3 times before I left on Monday Heart

Pushed mowed today for 1 hour 40 minutes with a few breaks. Temps are upper 90s and humidity is out the roof. Needed to mow bc the weather isn't going to get any better for several days and the grass was really thick. I stayed hydrated but right now I could use one of those drinks Ruth had at the beach!

Wonderland-the rain is off the hook here in Asheville! Ot has rained so hard that parking lots and roads are getting washed out. Most of the storms are on tje evening and reminds me of Florida. I'm glad you are able to get your yard mowed. DH just mowed and the yard needs it again!

I have made some precious friends on here! BC is not a journey to do alone!

Varga: All that rain and not a drop here. It's scary when it rains that hard and washes away roads. The rebounder looks like fun! It's fantastic that it helps your LE. What an added bonus!

Finally feeling relatively normal after the Big Ride. It's been brutal as I had deadlines and was beyond tired. But we got the report out earlier today! Here is a picture of me at the FINISH. Still savoring the moment. This is when all the training and discipline finally pay off. - Claire

Hi all good to read your updates! I walked outside, earlier today, due to the impending heat. 30 minutes. In DC heat and humidity are generally bad in summer but were heading off the charts this week. Everybody try to keep cool in your workouts! Tomorrow will be a DVD by Leslie Sansone or laps in the pool.

So hot this morning. Per my OT, I ran in my compression sleeve (you can see it in the second photo) which made things even hotter. Ugh. But I got the training run done, and now I'm trying to cool off.

I'm just starting to get in shape. I was about 20 pounds overweight when I got my abnormal mammogram results last month and didn't exercise at all. I totally changed my diet and that (plus stress) led me to lose 7 pounds already. I am trying to work my way up to exercising 5 days a week. I've managed to do two 30-minute walks so far this week. Today is a break day and then I'll do another one Friday along with my hand weights. Once I heal from surgery, I'm joining the gym!

I love this thread - you all inspire me so much!

    Welcome LMS!

    Looking great, Claire!

Yikes, it sounds like I got out of the East Coast just in time. Be careful when exercising in that horrible heat and humidity!

I slept in and sneaked into Zumba about 5 minutes late. I'll go back to yoga tonight.

So far this week it’s been doing hubby’s laundry, cutting grass and my laundry. Too hot and humid for anything else.

Welcome, LMS. Congrats, Claire, on your ride. Varga I hope the bee sting did no damage. I think I will get out my rebounder again. It is fun and harder than it looks! Wonderland and Ruth, good to see you together again. Falconer, if you take the gabapentin, take it at night. It does make you drowsy and I love that for sleep but not during the day.

Tuesday I trimmed another side of the hedge for an hour-all the old fashioned way since we have destroyed three electric hedge clippers in 11years. The humidity was awful. Today we had some rain this AM, and then it is quite breezy after it cleared so not as hot as was expected. I walked the dog around the neighborhood and then went to the lake for a walk by myself. The heat warning is arriving tonight so I was trying to get in some extra minutes today. I am not looking forward to it unless I can get someone to go to the beach or lazy river with me. I know a lot of people are getting the heat so stay safe, everyone.

Dunno if it's truly LE, I see my OT tomorrow afternoon. She recommended using it for my runs this week b/c I'm having a fair amount of arm discomfort to the point of having to walk during my runs to get my arm to stop hurting so much. I don't know that it helped today but it didn't hurt.

Your Blooming Betty sleeve is lovely!

    Beautiful sleeves, ladies!

Varga: We finally had rain! Hoping for more.

Hi Everyone! Yesterday dh and I went to Chapel Hill to visit our ds. Had a fabulous time. There's a dairy nearby that makes it's own ice cream. It was a delightful treat on such a hot day (96 degrees).

I usually walk in the late afternoon or evening bc I'm not much of a morning person. But this morning I was motivated to go ahead and walk and now I'm back home in the air conditioning!

Varga, that is a cute sleeve. My gym is about 3 minutes from my house, so I am LUCKY!!!!!! I went to Aqua Zumba this morning & then cleaned house (as we all know, dust does not take a vacation!). This afternoon I have to buy groceries (as there isn't even a crust of bread in my house) and get vacation pictures developed. Tomorrow I am going to a fund raiser for the United Way in a park. Three sessions: Pound, Zumba, & Yoga. You can attend one or all classes, $10.00 donation per class.

Feeling livelier and just booked another mini getaway for 2 weeks hence. Metric century....Tour de Lavender, a breeze after the Seattle-to-Portland (not to mention, much more scenic). Still want nothing to do with a bicycle seat, so doing a hike with friends on Sunday. It promises to be glorious. Hoping for wildflowers. Love mountain lupins and avalanche lilies.

This year, I want to visit Cape Flattery which is the most NW corner of the continental US. I understand there is a trail you can hike down to the Pacific and that the scenery is spectacular. I won't do the hike my friend Carla did a year ago when she and a friend got stranded and ended up scaling down cliffs in the dark to be able to catch the bus back to Seattle, important since the next one was in three days. I was wondering if they would make it out alive, but they were just fine. For me, it's daytime hiking only, and I am taking my car. Plus hiking poles.

I need to get tighter with my vacuum cleaner and mop....

Plus still could use a bit more rest. I should be fine by Sunday Happy Vacuum cleaner next as I catch up with things... - Claire

Wonderland- no rain for us yesterday but a decent rain shower this afternoon. I'm glad it wasn't a gully washer like we have been having.

Ruth- that's awesome!!!! The church gym is about 10 minutes from the house. I get bored with the machines. When there were Zumba classes close to my house I went to everyone! Zumba or cardio dance are my favorite.

Today I went to the gym again. 1 mile on the treadmill and 3 on the bike. Also do a full rotation of most of the machines. I skipped some of the arm ones. I dont want to over do it with the LE arm. Slow and steady...might rebound a little after I get the kitchen cleaned up after dinner.

I did 100 calories on the recumbent bike, went through the leg machines. Trainer and I set a standard workout on the machines. They said it would take about two weeks to recoup the losses of two weeks not working out. That after about six months of five days a week. Today has been wicked hot and steamy. Went to Mass, and as soon as we walked out our glasses fogged up.

Thanks for the welcome, everyone. I see some of you rebound. I was looking at getting one of those eventually. :) I'm in Florida, so it's hard to exercise here about half the year because it's too darn hot and humid. The gym I'm joining is just 5 minutes from my son's school, so I can drop him off in the morning and then go straight there. No excuses!

I went to the Podanza (Pound, Zumba/Dance, and Yoga) in the Park this morning. You hot/hot/hot girls will be very jealous when I tell you it was 65 degrees when I got there at 9:00 and 72 when I left at noon. It's 4:00pm right now and 77 with a nice, cool breeze.....
