Took a ride over to Harrah's Casino in Cherokee after a few hours of walking around in the pool yesterday. I do not enjoy the machines at the Casino but throughly enjoy the people watching. I walked 8 miles at the Casino while DH and MIL gambled. They both won and I got to walk alot and do a few huge sets of steps.

Yesterday was strength work, today is a rest day. The heat wave broke last night and we're on tap for lovely temps this week (low to mid 80s). That will make the training runs much nicer.

I have a sore knee now due to trying to do some dance aerobics. I guess I jumped around too much for my first time. So, I'm going to focus on my upper body and core for the next few days and then just stick to walking until September!

I did an hour and 200 calories on the recumbent bike this morning. I was so busy reading and listening to Irish music, that the time passed before I realized it. Skipped the other exercises, and not yet cleared to do upper body work.

Mat pilates, Zumba & dog walking. I just got a new phone and now will try to figure out how to make it work (before calling DS, the tech guy). Argh, I hate changing phones/computers etc.)

Back at it, four classes today, and chilling. Taught yin at yoga for cancer with my bolsters in tow. They liked it! Nightmare reality and to quote David Schneider: I for one welcome our new lying, racist dog-whistling, incompetent, principle-free, bullshitting, back-stabbing, British-citizen-in-Iran-incarcerating, white-supremacist-befriending, business-fucking, reality-fucking, countrycidal maniac overlord. #NextPrimeMinister

Five mile run this AM, general aerobic pace. My OT is working with me on my left arm/side discomfort so she's got me running w/ my sleeve and wearing a compression running shirt. Good thing I run in the dark, that thing shows every single blip and bump in the world. But it did help so there's that.

Hi all, walked in the humidity today for 30 minutes. I saw that with the rain the temperature had dropped 10 degrees and was excited to get out there. Silly me! Dripping but feeling accomplished. 🙂

We got Ruth’s weather pushed our way for a beautiful day yesterday. What a relief. I went out in a tank top and was cold. LOL. Today it’s back to 80, but hey, NOT complaining. Mowed the back and front lawn lawn and did some weeding-70 minutes. Then I walked the dog.
Lilac, did Trump run in GB too? I feel ya.

I hear you, Lilac. I feel nauseous when I think about the state of the world.
I went to Barre and for a walk today. Still working on the new phone. I have done pretty well getting it organized but do have a couple things I need professional help with (even after looking up tutorials on Google, since nothing comes with direction booklets anymore).

LB:
Ruth: Good luck with your new phone.
We also have relief from the heat. Rained cats and dogs with lots of water pouring into the basement. Ugh. Dehumidifiers are working overtime. Walked/ran this evening. 67 degrees and humid but all I could think about was how cool it was!

Been pretty much MIA the past few weeks. It's been long month - some good and some difficult. DH and I went to Toronto the end of June for 5 days to visit our DD#1 and SIL. He left early as his 91+ year old mother was in the hospital to go be with her. He was to stay 4 days and then go home (which is did). My MIL was in the hospital June 26 to July 2 when she went to rehab where she was till July 13. I went to Israel on July 3rd as planned and DH was to join on July 15. Due to his mother's health, DH cancelled his trip. He went back to his mother's on July 8 for a day for a family meeting at the rehab facility that turned into 10days. I shortened my trip in Israel by 8 days. I was doing a 2 week volunteer program but only did 1 week. At the end of the week, I spent the week-end with my gf in Tel Aviv and then went to Jerusalem for 8 days to be with my daughter #2. I had a great time in Israel with the volunteer week, the week-end with my gf and the week+ with my daughter, but was sad that DH missed out on a vacation. He did what he had to do for for his mother and neither one of us would have had it any other way. Needless to say, I married a great guy! I got back to Denver Monday evening and finally getting back into a routine. Thankfully, my MIL is slowly improving. She has in home help 6 hours/day and we hope that eventually we can decrease the amount of time. My MIL has been in the same tri-level house for since the mid 1970s. I will post pictures. DD#2 will be back in America in 12 days fo 5 weeks - she will be in Denver for a couple week, then travel to visit friends, her sister and her grandmothr and then be back her for a week before she goes back home to Israel. She moved this week from Jerusalem to Givat Shmeul as she is starting Electrical Engineering at Bar Ilan in the fall.
Ruth - what type phone did you get? I love my iPhone as it is relatively easy for me to use and I'm not the least bit tech savvy.
Sounds like everyone is doing pretty well.
Walked early this morning 50 minutes - 6300 steps.
Sorry for the post being all about me and my family. Have a great Wednesday.

Yoga class today--still modifying down dog a lot, and honestly I think I need to stop yoga until this arm issue resolves

Here's the Wednesday Walking Women (along with two daughters and a granddaughter). I'll be off to mat pilates in a few minutes & maybe walk the puppies since it's a nice day.

Karen, it sounds like you are having a whirlwind summer. So glad that your MIL is doing better. I have a Samsung Galaxy so upgraded to a 10Se, which is very similar.....but different enough that I will have to get used to it. I actually only have one question for the professionals, so that pretty good.
Edj, I would wait with the yoga and concentrate on legs, abs etc. until the arm is better. As much as you want to jump in, if you do too much too soon it will just take longer in the long run.

A pretty picture from where we walked today.

Happiness is.....a U-pick flowers Happy Hour where you can get a bouquet of sweet William and snapdragons for $2.50, not to mention the exact colors you want. Dinner guests arrive tomorrow evening for a vertical wine tasting dinner. (The same wine, three successive vintages.)
Otherwise busy, and thankfully recovered from the Big Ride. Headed out to do the Lavender Ride one week from now. Last Sunday, I did the Naches Peak Loop hike with a couple of friends. I was feeling it towards the end. The wildflowers were enchanting and the views sublime. Perfect day, though on the hot side.
In between all these activities and work, I have been getting reacquainted with my vacuum cleaner and mop. Plus, I had to clean the oven the old way. BLECH!!!!
Mostly delightful weather here with some days not getting out of the 60s. Need to get a couple more items for tonight's dinner, and of course for tomorrow evening. The stew is made, so just have to do all the surrounding items, veggies, salads and a dessert (German sponge cake base with blueberries on top and vanilla whipped cream - it's been far too long since I made one).
Off to finish up my walk. - Claire

Karen: So glad to hear from you. I've been wondering how your MIL was. Glad to read that she is doing better. You've had an exciting summer with your travels. Congratulations on your dd studying Electrical Engineering!
Ruth: Your pictures look so cool and refreshing.
edj: indeed. Hang in there.
Claire: Can I come to your dinner party tomorrow night? Please? Sounds like a lot of fun as well as delicious.
Walked/ran yesterday and today. I bought a pair of new earrings today (on sale: had been $60 and I bought them for $25) and wore them during my walk. Big mistake bc I lost one. I walked the path slowly looking for it. I mentioned it to a man there and asked him if he saw it to lmk. As he was leaving he found it on the edge of the path hidden by grass. I never would have found it. So thankful that he did!

Hi all, I walked to and from the pool today and swam laps for 15 minutes. The humidity is gone today and the swim was delightful! Tried to move gently as my right shoulder is a bit sore but it felt good while I was moving it anyway. 😉

Wonderland, lucky you found your earrings. I lost my keys once in the dead of winter, but found them in the snow bank when I retraced my steps. Lost my phone once too, but a nice young couple found it on the trail.
That is a pretty picture, Ruth. Love the trees lining the road. Reader, that pool looks very refreshing after my hot walk.
I walked the trail at the lake yesterday-38 minutes, and then walked the dog around the neighborhood. Today I walked the other end of the lake, just 30 minutes, and then walked the dog. I am not mixing it up much! Here are the wildflowers of the week. The hills are just covered with bee balm and rudbeckia this week.

Wonderland so glad about the earrings!
Twohobbies what a great view! Lovely.
Also a good view of the grand puppies Ruthbru.
Another walk and swim day for me. 40 minutes. I'm astonished at the low humidity and loving it!

I posted lots of pictures on fb -
Hope everyone is well. It's quite hot in Denver today. Yesterday, I cleaned out the drawers in my roll top desk and can't believe how much paper I threw out (yes I can). Still have a little more to do to have it done. Still more work to do in the crawl space.
Have a great Friday night and Saturday

I've never been to Israel and have always wanted to go--love those photos. Your daughter is beautiful, and so are you.

Something to ponder:

Karen, you have a beautiful daughter who lives in a beautiful country, which has special meaning for well over half of the world.
Ruth, that page tells so much about how we ought to be.
Since getting cleared for lower body exercise, I have gotten to the gym every day. Yesterday I did the leg machines first, then did the hour on the recumbent. That seems to work better, because once I finish that hour, I would rather walk out. I just noted through the patient portal that I will be two months post-surgery before I will be allowed to resume upper body work.
My daughter was here from California for a bit; she played with her phone when we went to the gym.
