MCBaker, I know it doesn't seem that way right now but two months is just a 'blip' in the rest of your life!

This weekend my town had it's annual summer celebration "Buffalo Days". I started this morning with a charity 5K, went to a parade, then a pancake breakfast at the firehall, then a classic car show followed by listening to a band playing music in a park, and finally a cowboy poet at an old courthouse/museum. My next mission is to convince DH that we should go out for dinner! Winking

MCBaker and edj - thanks for the compliments. I love Israel and now have more reasons to go since my DD#2 lives there. I didn't have the privilege to go to Israel till I was 51!! I've now been 13 times!! I'm hoping to be able to go over my winter break, I don't plan so far in advance so I won't start looking at air fares till later October or early November.

Hot sunny days, so need to be sure to walk early in the morning. Going to go do some more work on the roll top desk. Have a great Sunday.

It's been a busy 2 weeks! I volunteered with vacation Bible school at my church last week. I ran the preschool station outside and it was so much fun! It was after 930 when I got home every night and that's late for me.

Spent Saturday in the pool do in my laps but then went out for ice cream.😜Sunday I went to a pole dancing class!!! It was so much fun! I went with a one of my BFF'S. My legs are a feel food sore today. I would love to do a class a week but there's now way that will happen with my wacked up schedule. I had to be cautious with my LE side and I was able to do everything but spin down the pole...lol! DH is golfing in Naples all week so I have week of taking care of me planned. (Plus getting a few things done around the house) Today after OT I went to Target and roamed around for bit. My girl is with her guardian for day and I was responsibility free! I cleaned up the front flower bed, cut out a burning brush and pruned a yellow bell brush in hopes it can be moved in September.

I scored 4 new DVDs from the thrift store. 2 are Denise Austin and 2 are for rebounding. I will try one of them out tonight after my girl goes to bed.

Love all the pictures and enjoy reading about everyone's adventures.

Pole dancing sounds like a blast, Varga!

My Husky owning friend is also watching grand-husky this week, so I grabbed my puppies and met them at a Dog Park, What a fun time they had running and running and running (you hot girls will be jealous of our delightful 72 degree temperature). I went to Zumba tonight.

Love the buffalo on the hill, Ruth. Karen, great pics with DD. Varga, you must be strong to be able to hang on to the pole. Sounds like so much fun.

Mountain biking and dog walking planned today

No running thanks to the foot problem but I did dust off my bicycle which I haven’t ridden seriously in twenty years, when I was a bike commuter at UCSB. Back then I lived twenty miles from campus, and could bike halfway from campus to the bus depot and then throw my bike onto the rack and get the bus for free, since I was a student, the remainder of the way. Now I live in the mountains and not the beach so there’s always a long hill to climb. Yesterday five miles wiped me out but I’m committed to trying this in place of running.

It wasn't pretty when I started cycling again either, Falconer. I can't believe that I have now been cycling for 24 years now, and long distances for more almost 20 years. You will work up to more distance very soon.

BTW - I find that 20-25 miles works very well for a maintenance ride. You can also ride when it's a bit warmer out than you would be comfortable running because you create your own breeze.

Make sure you oil that chain! Because it needs to be lubricated to negotiate the gears easily. And bike shorts (not those trendy fashionable ones, but the padded variety) are worth every penny. - Claire

I'm on track with my training plan for my upcoming race. This is me yesterday after my final radiation follow up from the actual radiation treatments. I'll see my RO in nine months just to check things.

DH and I headed out for our evening walk - barely got to the end of the street and it started pouring - the rain is coming down so hard - hope it stops soon so we can walk - need the steps (so far just over 11K) plus also I enjoy the evening walk as its not as hot when the sun is not blazing!

Ruth - always love the photos of the WWW.

    edj3 - congrats on finishing radiation :)

As always you ladies inspire me! I'll swim tomorrow if the weather cooperates. As is often the case a recently sore shoulder has been helped by my swimming backstroke.

Congrats edj3 for finishing rads! Yay!

edj3- congratulations on finishing rads! Energy will return to you now that it isn't being sucked away. Give it time.

Claire- thanks for the encouragement. I was thinking of you and your posts when I rode I do need to oil the chain, you're right, going into the upper gears was very sluggish.

Rode 6 miles yesterday. Like you Karen I got dumped on by the rain so cut short.

    Yoga class this am.

Also, I wanted to share a campaign that’s happening about single use plastics. Here in Ulster County NY plastic bags are gone and reusable bags are in. Next up- water bottles. If you’re interested and with me- here’s the link:

edj3- CONGRATULATIONS🥳 now to keep LE away!!

Tuesday I did several things in the yard which required lots of bending, pulling and d re dragging. When that was all done I did routine on my rebounder. Wednesday delivered MOW and had some pool time with the grandkids. The all spent the night (DH is golfing in Naples) my heart is full, my house is a mess and I'm tired! I went to bed at 2 am and got up at 6 so I could flexitouch pump ( I didn't last night and should have after carrying the kids so much) almost done with that and hoping to get the laundry done before everyone gets up!

Delicious cool morning here. I am off on my cycling, hiking and camping adventure in about 2 hours. Yesterday afternoon, I had a facial and makeover at Nordstrom, followed by a haircut and then a visit to the wine bar where they had a Popup Piano Bar. Got home about 9. So fun.

Especially since I have a couple of large checks for recent work headed my way so felt comfortable spending a bit of extra money. Skincare isn't cheap!!! My hair looks fabulous!

Speaking of recycling, I brought 2 wine carriers back to the wine bar (which is legally a retail outlet) so they can be reused. Amazingly, it was not me using them this time. Though I may stop at the tasting room of Camaraderie Cellars later today after my hike on Hurricane Ridge. I know the owners, and it's such a lovely place. It's also fun telling the "exclusive inn crowd" that I am tenting it!

I unintentionally did a good deed with my facial. Someone had neglected to book the spa room, so they had to do it in the regular makeup chair. I think I was the only one who thought this was OK and who showed up. I am so glad I did as my salesperson is off on a new career after Saturday. She is just lovely and I got to wish her well. The lady doing the facial and makeover is amazing and she spent over an hour on me. I learned a couple of slick tricks with concealer. Came away with travel samples for my upcoming trips (NYC and London).

Edj3 - congrats on finishing radiation. Onwards from here! Your whole life lies ahead of you. Nine years ago, I could not have imagined what lay ahead. Most of it has been wonderful, though I do miss the friends I have lost. I had a couple of rough patches getting my career back on track, but I succeeded, perhaps a bit too well.

Great adventures lie ahead! - Claire

Continued heat and humidity mandated that swimming be the choice. I did about 25 minutes and also walked to and from the community pool. Refreshing! I was tired all day so the late afternoon swim seemed to do me some good as always.

Yoga & Dance2Fit for me. After class, one of the ladies invited some of us Dance2Fit regulars over for rhubarb slushies and hor d'oeuvres on her beautiful patio, so any calories lost during class were soon found again!

Happy August, everyone. Where did the summer go! We have had a nice break in the weather, too, and had a couple of 70s days. 82 today which is also good in my book. More walks for me this week-two around the lake with my husband and one with my son and dog. Yesterday was time for my lawn mowing with a weeding cool-down. I reminded myself I cant run. I tried a one minute run since I was thinking about the study that says one to two minutes help bone mass. My spine hurt all week. Since it hasn’t hurt in ages, I now know for sure it is the running.

Falconer I so agree with the plastic reduction. We stopped buying bottled water years ago, I always try to take reusable shopping bags, and I recycle but still feel it is not enough when I read about the quantity of plastic in the ocean or see the pic of the turtle with a straw lodged in its nose. My environmental geology teacher predicted this is 1981 and here we are.

Karen lovely pictures of Israel and your daughter. Ruth, love the vista with the big buffalo in the background and the WWW at the pier. I always seem to find my lost calories too!

    EDJ- woohoo, done with rads!

Claire it’s nice to have a spa day. All that beauty stuff is expensive. I went to get color matched at Sephora this week and spent too much but would have spent triple if I didn’t control myself. I have a list!

After my wedding, I had my dress preserved (dry cleaned and sealed in a box). I decided after almost 42 years that its time to give it away. At one time, I thought maybe my daughters could wear it - well my daughters are built very different than me so it wouldn't fit them. I took the box upstairs last night. DH asked me to try it on, so we opened the box - it still fits!!! But I could really figure out how to put the head piece/veil on properly. DH took a few pictures of me wearing it. Now I have to find out who takes donated wedding dresses - I want to give it some place that will give the dress away, not sell it like Goodwill.

Have a great Friday and week-end. Will be back tomorrow night.

Karen so lovely to give your dress away. Meaningful.

Ran errands today then took a lovely, breezy walk around the lake at the shopping center complex. I came prepared, wearing sneaks so that i could finish what I had to do then walk. Kind of a motivator like putting workout clothes aside, handy for the morning.

Love that--I'm pretty claustrophobic so would probably never ever do that but I sure love seeing others do it.

Six mile run this very humid morning. It's so nice to feel my energy returning.

Congrats, edj, on finishing rads! I'm also claustrophobic, so I'd be outside waiting with you waiting for Falconer, cheering her on! Still dreaming of running 10K 11+ years out from rads. Will get there some day.

Claire, great to have a spa and makeup day!

Ruth, rhubarb slushies sound like a good way to find lost calories.

    On a recent hike:

Scaled the mountain towards the Italian border.

Today was Zumba and weight training.

    Wow, Heidi, awesome hiking video!

Falconer, you are very brave. I couldn't do that Lemon Squeeze for any amount of money. I feel queasy just looking at the picture!

Yoga, followed by a Strength & Conditioning class for me this morning. I need a very cold shower after the second one. Hard!
