Karen: I bet you looked fabulous in your wedding gown. So special!
Falconer: Wow! That's a tight squeeze!
Heidi: Such a cool video! I know you had a blast climbing.
edj: Love your picture in your car. Don't have to be back there for another 9 months!
Hi All! Pushed mowed today for almost 2 hours. The grass is THICK during July and August making it a hot, sweaty workout. I have been walking/running since last posted. Love reading what everyone is doing!

Karen, post a picture of you in your dress! Have you considered keeping it; and if you become a grandmother, you could have an outfit made from the dress for the baby, perhaps for his/her naming ceremony? I had a friend do that for her grandchild's christening and I thought that was pretty special.

Hot & humid here (at least by North Dakota standards). I did the treadmill for an hour while watching the Twins (baseball) game (their young pitcher, who got his first major league win, is a childhood cancer survivor, so it was extra special).

From my weekend adventures. Did my 60 miles yesterday, but not quite the planned route as missed a turn. I took the normal route which had the problem of a closed road. Not one you could sneak by.
I visited the top of the world at Hurricane Ridge in the Olympic Mountains and the end of the world at Cape Flattery, the most NW corner of the Continental United States. I ate well. Got to channel the spirit of The Duke at the resort where I had a campsite.
One casualty was my newish hiking boots which I have since learned had a midsole that was popular a few years ago and which does not hold up to moisture. I was lucky to make it back up the hill to my car at Cape Flattery. So guess what I am getting once my consulting checks come in. For the person who asked, I do a combinate of market research projects and report writing plus grant writing. Very tough when it all happens at once. I have learned that you have to carve out time to make it all work.
Posting pictures from my adventure. - Claire
Lavender farm, the first on the ride.
Pacific ocean. Beach is wild, unspoiled, and mostly untraveled. I know why as quite the drive from Port Angels.
On the north coast of the Olympic Peninsula....straight of San Juan de Fuca.
At the end of the world...Cape Flattery.
Much more peaceful at the John Wayne Marina. I can see why he liked to summer here. He gave this land to the city of Port Angeles....though some greedheads want to develop this into condos.
On top of the world. I have been here before, but the first time I have seen the peaks of the Cascades from this spot. Mount Baker in the distance, something like 100 miles away with the Puget Sound in between.
Another view from Hurricane ridge looking across the Straight into Vancouver Island, BC.
Yes, I was really on top of the world. Note the glaciers in the background on Mount Olympus.
I must explore this further sometime, but I had just enough time to drive up to the parking lot and then back down to pitch my tent.
Speaking of which..... Deluxe accommodations for 3 days. Got in my stretching without needing a workout.
Channeling The Duke at the Dockside Grill. Wonderful food, though I would like to strangle the snotty twerp who neglected to tell them that I was there for dinner, not just beers. Wonderful seafood, not to mention great beer.

Nice weekend with a good amount of activity. Went to a local state park yesterday to check out the kayaking area as DH wants to get into that. Did a bit of walking through the beautiful area. Today was an evening pool party and I also did a 15 minute swim. Needed to to take off the delicious cheeseburger and macaroni!

Gorgeous pics, Claire and Reader!
Went for an early morning bike ride yesterday with DH then we drove to Austria for a spa break. Hiking planned for today.

Claire_in_Seattle, beautiful!
Reader425, would you guys rent kayaks or go ahead and buy your own?
Heidihill, I used to live in a town in Germany known for their spas, never made it to Austria for a spa weekend and that sounds delightful.

Falconer- it took me a minute to even find you through that tiny crack! How long of a squeeze was it?
Ruth- I love rhubarb! We grew up on rhubarb cobbler. I had never thought about making a smoothie with it. My Daddy always planted rhubarb in our garden. Oh the memories that brought up! Hot rhubarb cobbler with vanilla ice cream on the front porch after dinner!
Heidihill- what a climb!
Claire- loved the pictures and view of your part of the world. I havent been on that side of the US since the 90's.
Wonderland- the grass gets super thick here this time of year for sure! DH has a John Deer mower for our yard. He wont let me mow at all. Our yard is a little over an acre and half and I think he must enjoy riding around mowing. Otherwise, he would let me...haha!
Edj3-just keep running!
Reader- beautiful picture!
Busy weekend. Picked DH up from the airport Friday afternoon. He golfed in Naples this week. Traffic was a mess driving home (always like that on Friday!) Saturday was a pool day and my in laws joined us. We ended the day with blacked blue cheese burgers ( I do a quinoa crunch veggie burger...so yummy!) and salad. Yesterday was peaceful. Went to church and then to Harrah's Casino for dinner and a walk along the river. It was raining just a bit but I enjoyed every step of the walk holding hands with my DH. Our girl went to her guardians for the night so he wasnt pushing her in her stroller. Of course the whole time we were talking about how mad she would be if she knew we were there...lol. especially since the baked sweet potato I had was so divine and the sliver of carrot cheesecake melted in my mouth! Lots to do today...beach trip approaching quickly!

I did mat pilates at noon, took the grandpuppies for a meander in the park this afternoon, & went to Dance2Fit tonight.

Edj3 - we are wanting to start out renting a kayak then if we love it will buy. I think he and we will love it. He also has friends with kayaks. The fun part is the park is 5 miles away. I love to hike and the area around is great for that too!
You all give me great ideas for activity. I was active the last 5 days to some degree so today was a housecleaning/dethugging day.

Happy birthday trmtab! I'm back to work the end of the week (actually, I'm at a training today and tomorrow) and the kids start in 2 weeks!
DD#2 arrived in Denver this afternoon. Her flight was on a 747-400, the largest plane - 300 - 400 people. Only 80 pieces of luggage made it to Denver. The belt broke and they didn't want to hold the plane to hand load the luggage. She was in tears (and also jet lagged and over tired). The luggage is supposed to arrive tomorrow afternoon on the next flight!!! I felt so bad for her as she has no clothes here anymore - or should I say no clothes that she wears. She was so tired, she went to bed at 7:00, too tired to eat dinner. I sure hope she sleeps through the night!
Sweet dreams!

Karen, did DD's luggage ever show up? I think flying has been really 'iffy' this year. Last Thursday, a friend of mine & his son were supposed to fly out to California where the kid is looking at colleges. They had so many cancellations that they finally gave up & went to the lake instead! Another friend was suppose to fly out of St. Louis at 2:00pm yesterday afternoon & was still waiting for her plane at 1:00am....I don't know if she ever got home or not. Yikes!
I went to PiYo this morning, dog walked & went to Barre tonight. We will be out of town this weekend so I want to get in a lot of exercise before then (since I know that I will be doing a lot of sitting & a lot of eating!).

Ruth - DD's luggage arrived in Denver and was loaded on the truck for delivery around 7:30 tonight. They hope to deliver it by midnight! It's after 9:30 and she just got a text saying it won't be delivered till 2:40am. While writing this the doorbell rang and the truck driver ask DD to help identify her bag as he has so many on the truck. She's one happy girl with a big smile on her face!!!

Happy Birthday, TT!
Vargadoll, I love thinking of you and DH strolling and holding hands. So sweet
Karen, enjoy your DD time.
Biked 7 miles yesterday - only had 30 min for exercise. I am starting to understand how the miles can add up, so 20 seems possible, Claire. My bottom is sore 😕 even after wearing the padded shorts! Maybe I need a new saddle?

Happy birthday, TT! Great idea, Ruth, on using a wedding dress for baptismal fabric. I am also wondering what to do with my mom's bridal finery. I never wore a wedding gown myself (got married in shorts) and DD is unlikely to ever want to wear a dress of any kind. But miracles happen.
Speaking of which...DH and I just celebrated our 25th with a spectacular hike. Will post a video from my phone. It had to be a really good one because we were also celebrating 12 years since my diagnosis of Stage IV de novo. Then during the hike we got a call from DD saying she got in to medical school in her first choice, Zurich University. She's wanted to be a doctor after going to hospitals so often to visit or accompany me. I was so excited I jumped on DH and we nearly stumbled over the cliff. That would have been so tragicomic!

Heidi, stunningly beautiful. What a privilege to see such landscapes in person. That city isn't Zurich, is it? I thought I heard someone saying S--ch as it panned past.

Stunning pictures, Heidi! Congratulations on all fronts! Do not fall off the cliff while celebrating, jump up and down once you reach flat ground!

The Walking Women today. I'll do mat pilates at noon & probably walk the dogs again this afternoon.

Claire: Your pictures are gorgeous!
TT: Happy Birthday a couple of days late!
Heidi: Your video is breathtaking. I can almost smell the freshness. How exciting for your dd!!!!!!
Karen: Enjoy your visit with your dd. Glad her luggage finally arrived.
Ruth: Always love your WWW pictures.
Hi everyone! Just returned from another hot, sweaty walk/run. My dd is coming over tonight and cooking dinner for us. Then we are going to watch this week's Handmaid's Tale.

Heidi - congrats on celebrating 12 years! and to your DD on getting into her first choice medical school.
DD renewed her drivers license this morning - she had to go in person since she turned 21. Then dentist. Out to lunch and then to see The Lion King. It was great. I had forgotten most of the story as I hadn't seen it since it first came out. DD is tired (or jet lagged). Tommorrow dermatologist and annual check up for DD - she doesn't like going to the doctor so she likes me to go with her. Next week the orthodontist for annual check and to check her mouth guard/retainer. She needs to also get her eyes examined.
The training I went to on Monday and Tuesday was quite good - and I get paid for it as well as professional development credits - both for my CDE license and my national certification. Summer vacation is just about over. Friday is official first day back, but since I don't work Fridays, mine is Monday. Busy week next week with meetings.
Sweet dreams

Hi all, enjoying everyone's posts as always. Happy for you Heidi on 12 years. A dear friend was just diagnosed de novo to the bone and is terrified. I pointed her to this site.
I enjoy hearing about the Walking Women, biking and all the daughters visiting!
I walked 30 minutes or so in the instense heat outside right before more heavy storms rolled in. Then spent the day cleaning and cooking.🏃🧹🗂

HeidiHill, Congratulations to you and DH and to your very clever daughter!! What a wonderful week all of you have had - best news I've read! Falconer, getting to the studio more often this summer? Vargadoll, good to read of downtime with DH - alone. TT, happy birthday! The photos are fab everyone - thanks for sharing.
August is my busy month as DH will not travel in August due to crowds. So I have been fitting in substituting/cover for many instructors who love vacationing in August. Teaching yin to my yoga for cancer members and really like it. Sadly, cancelled Pink Ribbon Pilates for next Monday as we have a funeral to attend for a regular member of the class, who died last month of this stinking disease. Let's keep at it!
