edj3 - 12 miles, whew!

I made it home in one piece, slept in (as I crawled into my bed at 3am) and helped walk the grandpuppies this afternoon. Fun to go, but good to be home again too.

Welcome home ruthbru...went for a quick jog with my dog this morning. Cutting down on my carbs and sugar and I already feel lighter...maybe its just my imagination. Haven’t touched the chocolate chip banana bread and the huge breakfast spread I made yesterdy for My DD and 4 friends who slept over. That is a big step

Spent most of the afternoon going through closets and drawers. I have a big bag to bring to the Salvation Army, but should actually have a couple bags full. I am not good at downsizing! I also went to Barre Sculpt.
Here's one more ocean picture; the mysterious sea.

I’ve been a little down and out with something that’s given me a bad headache and a sore chest. Still went to yoga anyway- been loading up on ibuprofen and acetaminophen to keep me going through the day. Food helps- of course!

I got in a gorgeous ski today and actually could see something from the viewpoint. Think next Saturday should also be good. Then we shall see. With trees out and frogs singing where I live, I am itching to be on my bicycle. But as long as there is good snow, skiing wins.
Better exercise as well. - Claire

Clair, beautiful pics. I missed out on skiing this year, will be back on them next year for sure.
My seroma is finally going down. compression ball has helped. Going to try yoga this am, need the exercise. Starting to put back on some of the 20 pounds I lost. I walk all the time but need more. Have a great Monday everyone.

Wonderful snow, beautiful beach, Claire and Ruth!
I got the first flu shot of my life in preparation for seeing my brother on chemo. I checked my insurance to see if I'll be covered in the US in case something happens (one case of corona in Manhattan) and they said yes. I am bringing my stack of masks from when I was going through chemo. Hope they are still good. I've got lots of hand sanitizer from when DD was working in the hospital. And have been avoiding the gym (one case in Zurich). Too much heavy breathing there.
Went on a long hike along the Rhine river Saturday. Spent Sunday packing, doing laundry, decluttering and later dropped two big bags at the charity store. Now have to get to the vet as ticks are out already.
Will do some endurance strength training with kettlebells combined with a Swiss ball workout... at home. Also walk the dog. Finally found a vacation place for him for when I'm gone.

Beavers were busy
0 -
Yikes, those beavers were busy!
Got my second of two shingles vaccine yesterday, I guess you could say my immune system is getting a nice challenge. This one is very different from the first one two months ago. But now it's done, and today is a much needed rest day from my training plan.

Great pictures, Claire.
Good luck with your trip, Heidi. People must be taking the 'wash your hands' advise seriously because it was hard to find a full soap dispenser in the bathrooms when I was going through airports on Friday. I guess we know where the saying, "busy as a beaver" comes from!
Glad things are starting to settle down & look up, Martaj.
Edj, I was relieved to get the second shingles shot over with too. I had one day of not feeling good both times.
I guess I better buy groceries today as DH obviously ate all his meals out when I was gone. I also want to hit mat pilates, Zumba & Yoga. I need to LOSE some vacation weight!!!

First vaccine, my arm hurt and I had a red circle below the injection site, so no biggie. This time, my arm feels like a giant slugged the crap out of my arm and now I'm running a low grade temp. I was supposed to see my MO's PA today but the office just called to reschedule me as she's out unexpectedly. I'm taking that as a sign to stay home. Man I feel crummy.

Ruth great shot of the beach
Claire - gorgeous scenery!

Lovely contrast Ruth & Claire. HeidiHill, way too much heavy breathing at the gym and I asked DH to bring home little bottles of gel in a basket that are in the toilets at his London office. Hope all goes well in Manhattan and that your sweet pup is squared away for a kennel. Falconer, I'm down but not out, chesty hacking cough masked with a few over the counter meds, helping me drag through 4 classes yesterday. There was no way I could find cover on Sunday night. Martaj, good that draining is happening had a seroma on my left hip from revision and took ages to resolve.
I'm up early studying, online lectures and quiz for the postural stability course I'm on. No rain thus far and blue sky sunny start to the day. Hey nono, can't get chocolate chip banana bread outta my head!

LilacBlue, I'm intrigued by the postural stability training you're taking. Would you share a little more about what that focuses on?
Today's training called for some speed work: 1 mile easy, then 3 miles of 3 minutes moderate, 2 minutes EZ, then the final mile EZ. And I did the post run drills too.

Pound, Yoga Nidra, and dog walking today.

edj3, this is the course I'm on. Presently have a general, older populations exercise class and this allows me to deliver evidence based falls prevention within the NHS or on my own in the community. I hold the relevant qualifications and able to book onto the course.
Watching my home state - California on the Super Tuesday results - interesting to me. Cancelled yoga for cancer yesterday as a chesty cough is not good for anyone to be around who has a compromised immune system (one participant is on a protocol of chemo every three weeks). Feeling better today and start with Pilates at 3pm at the local manor house spa and two more classes in the evening @ Folkestone.

LilacBlue what a great course. I wish my mother had access to someone who offered this kind of work. I hate seeing her get frail because she's got bad posture and not much in the way of stabilizing strength. I use her current situation as continued motivation to stay on my own fitness path/goals, I don't ever want to struggle the way she does.
Anyway, today was nearly an hour of yoga. I'm not at all flexible and work at it a lot so I'm slightly less stickish.

Walking Women this morning. I will probably go to both Pound and Zumba tonight.

Mat Pilates, Silver Sneakers Classic & Line Dancing today.
ruthbru - noticed one of your walking companions has a "Lake Ashtabula" shirt. Intrigued me as I grew up in Ashtabula, Ohio (on the shores of Lake Erie). Looked it up & found it is in N Dakota.

Celia, I was curious so googled the word Ashtabula; it's an anglicized spelling of the Iroquois Indian word "Hash-tah-buh-lah," meaning "river of many fish."

Training for today was 4 miles with some drills all the way through plus strides.

Pound and Yoga. We are now on our way to watch our team play in the regional basketball tournament.

Going to walk a little, Yogi Breathing & Nidra. Then back to basketball watching. Our team won in overtime yesterday! If they win tonight, they will be heading to the state tournament.

Eventful day today - 6.5 hours in the ER with DH. He's been having some tightness in his chest, tingling in his left arm and shortness of breath on an intermittent basis - a couple times over the past couple weeks but then yesterday and today. He decided to go see his PCP who sent him to the ER. All tests came back normal but we still don't know what is causing this. He has a stress test on Monday morning. His PCP wanted him to stay overnight in the hospital (PCP is very, very old school) but the ER doctor said NO - happy to not be overnight in the hospital. The symptoms have gone away (as they have been doing) but he's still not feeling great. We are both worried about what is going on. Yesterday when I got home from work he looked awful - I wanted to take him to the ER, but he said no, that he would call his PCP in the morning if he wasn't feeling better. We pretty much knew that PCP would send him to the ER (which is next door to his office). So for now, just hoping the symptoms don't come back.
Gorgeous weather in Denver - sunny, blue sky and near 70 tomorrow!
Time to sign off for Shabbat.

Karen sounds like DH needs a stress test along with cardiac echo

Yesterday was a busy one. My 5 year old grandson came over and we made cookies, then I started prepping walls to paint them and ceiling. Going to be a big job but will keep me busy. Behind pictures was an outline of what color should be. I'm a good housekeeper but couldn't believe how dirty the walls were.Going to do living room 2 hallways and kitchen

Hope they can figure out what's going on with DH, Karen. Scary!
Well, for the second straight night our basketball team won in overtime. I think I burned quite a few calories just watching! We will go back tonight for the regional championship game & then it is on to state. I will walk first; since it's nice out, maybe outside.

Karen, hoping for a quick answer, and that it's nothing serious.
Today's run was 13 miles so I stretched to 13.1 to get a half marathon distance in.

It's so gorgeous out that I called DS and asked if he and the grandpuppies would like to join me for a walk in the park.....which they did, adding much fun to the adventure!
