Corona Virus also causing a lot of school, university, public facilities (like libraries) and other closures. The local Cancer Support Community is closing until April 5th, so no Zumba Gold, Yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi or Meditation classes - all of which I utilize. Bummer on both a mental & physical front. Anyone have some good suggestions for exercise DVDs? I will be suspending weekly training sessions at LA Fitness as a precautionary measure since I am in the "over 60" group - not risking the use of their machines, etc. - do not trust others to wipe things down.

We are in the greater Cinci OH area, which a tri-state area covering Indiana & Kentucky as well. Ohio is being more restrictive than Kentucky (where we live). No incidence where 100 people may be gathering is permitted in OH, per the governor. NCAA March Madness is a really big thing here - so sad that it has been cancelled. Spent yesterday and today shopping for items to tide us over in case we need to "shelter in place" for 2-3 weeks.

    Everyone - Stay safe!

Beautiful pictures ladies. Ruth those grandfurbabies are so cute!

It's a beautiful day out. Walked 5 miles today! 4th day of walking this week. Finally getting into an exercise routine.

This coronavirus thing is very scary! Hope you all stay safe. Enjoy your weekend.

Well, I wish the president would have declared the national emergency long ago or waited two days because they suspended the high school state basketball tournament after he talked right in the middle of a game.......not that it wasn't the right thing to do, but still! School is still on here but all extra curricular activities are cancelled. We are supposed to fly out for two weeks in Arizona on Friday, but are very strongly reconsidering.........sigh!!!!

I went to Yogi Breathing & Nidra this morning, and dognapped the grandpuppies for the afternoon......lots of walking and playing involved with that project!

You could do a run in the sleet like I did today. Great exercise, and for some reason, my skin glowed afterwards.

I saw 4 more people than I thought I would. What I am most worried about is local businesses that have been decimated by the fact that no one is traveling. I am planning on going into Seattle tomorrow and supporting my favorite wine bar. Plus the winemaker will be pouring.

I had to redirect the conversation in a conference call today to cover the business topics at hand.

In other news, most of the cashmere sweaters I got for cheap on eBay earlier this year are now on the roomy side PLUS I fit into the Versace trousers where my verdict 2 months ago was no way. In another 5 pounds, they will look fabulous on me. They already do, but they will look even better then.

One thing I will mention, after facing down and powering through chemo 10 years ago, the possibility of being infected with Corona virus seams like a minor life event. I have no reason to suspect that I am particularly vulnerable.

Need to make dinner including roasting some veg in the fridge. Plus do my weights while cooking. Skiing Sunday, most likely the last good ski day of the season. - Claire

Karen, hope these days of early recovery pass quickly for you, DH and family. What a week you all have had. Truly hope your husband's pain levels are now fully under control. HeidiHill, where in the world are you..in NYC before continental europe flight closures?

My email in box has been inundated with recommendations of best practices in gym fitness, yoga, tai chi and Pilates for COVID-19 pandemic situation. Have been in contact with the community centre that funds and hosts my weekly Yoga For Cancer (stage IV only) class and last night sent an email to the participants, that until after Easter, the class has been suspended. I'll review at that time and make a next decision as to going forward. My weekly yin yoga class has been informed that they now need to bring their own blankets, a clean hand towel for placing over the bolsters I bring in and supply their own eye bags and not use mine and of course suggesting that they now always bring their own mat. Pink Ribbon Pilates is still on. The UK is viewing this pandemic differently than the US or continent, hence, no school closures at this time. I wipe down all that i take to class with a disinfectant used for baby bottles and the like, as it does not degrade rubber. Must go, have a class at 9am and not even yet showered.

Everything closed down here in RI., and Near by CT. My grandson attends a preschool which had a child test positive for virus yesterday. I'm concerned because I picked him up from preschool Wednesday and he was with me for 2 afternoons since. 4 weeks post-op from mastectomy with reconstruction, just started radiation. I guess if I tolerated chemo I can tolerate anything. Just worried about compromised immune system. Self quarentined at home. Will have to work out here, planning on walking beach later with my dog.

Strength work today. I don't remember if I shared that I've got a painful area on the top of my foot, and given my history of a fractured pelvis from running, I'm a little worried it's the beginning of a stress fracture. I did get seen by an NP, had an x-ray but of course nothing showed. That's also what happened w/ my fractured pelvis, had to have an MRI for it to show (it shows now that it's healed).

So no running since Tuesday. My coach cleared me for an easy run tomorrow to see how my foot is doing.

On the pandemic front, LilacBlue I think the reason the US is handling this so differently from the UK is we have very, very few tests and the standards to be tested if there's even a test available requires you to have either traveled to China, Japan or Italy OR have been in close contact with someone who's been diagnosed. So all the community transfers that are going on are not being reported because those people aren't meeting the standard for the test. Also our pres is a loon.

Kansas City MO declared a state of emergency, and because my company's headquarters is in KC MO, our CEO asked all who can work from home to please do so. So my team and I will be doing just that.

We'll all end up getting this, it's a new virus and no one has immunity. The key is to slow the roll so that when we do get it, we can be treated appropriately and so that our medical professionals and hospitals aren't completely overwhelmed with the demand.

One one reason they want healthy people to stay put is because if an otherwise healthy person gets the virus they will take the resources desperately needed by a health-compromised person.

I'm off to PiYo and will bring my own mat. I will be using my mat, blanket etc. for classes that need them from now on. I just hope they don't shut fitness centers down! Still deciding on the trip.......Argh!!!

Good action Ruth and no shutting leisure centres or gym here yet. edj3, no country is dealing with it the way the UK is and that is creating problems for our PM and government. The UK is using heard immunity, as the way forward: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/13/herd-immunity-will-the-uks-coronavirus-strategy-work This could change as we know, everything is fluid. A poll today only 36% of Britons trust Boris Johnson on coronavirus. Travel ban now extends to UK and Ireland come Monday. Had half the class I usually have on Saturday morning.

edj: Really like your emoji! And yes, I sang it.

LB: Herd immunity! Shocked Now that sounds SCARY!

Yesterday I picked up 3 more 13 gallon trash bags of litter. The area I cleared up hardly had any beer cans/liquor bottles compared to the day before. It was mainly fast food cups, wrappers, plastic drinking bottles. Our household roll out trash can is so full now that I'll to have to wait until after Thursday (our trash collection day) to pick up more litter.

Also walked/ran yesterday. Today is a rest day.

    Take care, Everyone!

edited to add: On a lighter note, a crafting lady who I follow on Facebook has posted crafts you can make with empty toilet paper tubes. Love it!

Weird day here. We cancelled a pleasure trip we were planning on taking at the end of the week. I went to Barre Sculpt & Yoga and came home to find the Governor cancelling school for at least the next week. He & the Superintendents will be having teleconferences and each school will have to have a plan in place before reopening (such as taking the temperature of kids as they enter the building each morning or ?????). I was supposed to sub three days next week so was kind of relieved. Pretty scary stuff. I don't know if the fitness center will stay open or not. Geez, I will have to go buy groceries anyway. Since we planned to be gone, I have zero food on hand (although I am fine in the toilet paper department)!

Wonderland, what a great Idea picking up trash on your walks. I'm going to start that today. I have plenty of bags and those long pick up tongs, plenty of gloves. Being everything is closed down in this area will make me feel good about cleaning up.

My Fitness Center is closed, which makes sense since it's a community center & they don't want all the kids with no school coming over & breathing on each other, defeating the purpose. I'm going to venture out and buy groceries in a few minutes & hopefully beat the crowds. I'll have to figure out a home exercise program for at least the next week. Sigh!

If anyone has Amazon Prime, there are a lot of free exercise videos available. Suggestion: Post the name of any you try and like - that way we can help each other with home exercise, as we weather this storm. Stay safe!

All places where I exercise except for LA Fitness are closed. Will not go to LA Fitness, even though I work with a trainer there weekly - too risky. I have dumbbells & exercise bands at home, along with Pilates & Yoga videos. Unfortunately, left my yoga mat at the classroom last week. Guess I 'll just order one from Amazon. CDC is now recommending cancellations of event for more than 50 people for 2 months!

Got in a 4 mile run this morning with strides--last mile was in the rain. That's OK, it was good to be out running. I'm glad I have workout equipment at home so no hardship there for staying fit.

My Dance2Fit teacher is trying to figure out a video chat way to hold our class.

Now might be a good time to contact your senators and ask that they pass the CoronaVirus Response Act that has been sent over to them by the House of Representatives, and that President Trump has already promised to sign.

Things are definitely crazy here in CT. Schools are closed. Some are doing distance learning and others sent home supplemental packets for what was expected to be only 2 weeks. It’s beginning to sound like everyone will need to go to distance learning and that closures may last into or through May!

Colleges are closed and moving to online classes only. All state college and universities have canceled graduations.

As of last night at 8pm all restaurants, bars, gyms, movie theaters and casinos are closed. Restaurants can only do takeout.

No more than 25 people in one place at a time.

No toilet paper to be found and food shelves are getting bare.

I spent the last couple of days helping at a food pantry trying to get food into homes before we possibly get ordered to shelter in place.

On a positive note, I videotaped our last Zumba class and put it on our YMCA Facebook page so we can Zumba from home.

    Stay healthy everyone.

Kansas schools are closed through the end of the school year. I live in the Kansas City area, on the Kansas side, and work on the Missouri side. The mayor of Kansas City (MO) has forbidden any gatherings of 50 or more people. My CEO strongly urged those of us who can work from home to do so. My team and I fall in that category so that's what we're doing. Like you, Ginger48, most restaurants have moved to take out only and who knows, I may order take out both to support the local restaurants I love and also break up the boredom of the house.

I am also Episcopal and our bishop decreed that all parish buildings be closed effective today. So no gatherings at all, not prayer, not singing, of course not church (way over the 50 people limit)--nothing. My priests have moved to online services, which is better than nothing. But I will miss the face to face services during this Lent season.

I see my MO's PA today and got a call last night w/ the screening questions for COVID 19. I'm glad they're screening and equally glad they aren't outright canceling.

And I'm still running. I run outside only, I don't own or want a treadmill, and I run so early in the morning that I rarely see anyone else. Very glad I have running, it's so good for reducing anxiety and also keeping me fit. My husband and I decided to get a rowing machine, which arrives tomorrow. We're heading into tornado season here in Kansas, which means thunderstorm season too. So it will be good to have options if the weather precludes running.

Now I'm off to do a weights workout today. We've effectively turned our dining room into our exercise room--seems silly to have that room go unused. We never eat in there and rarely have guests over anyway.

I'm on extended spring break (2 weeks early). As of now, we are supposed to go back on April 6th, but I'm guessing that will change.

Its great for me to have the extra time off to be able to take care of Craig. Craig came home on Monday. A week in the hospital was plenty. The unexpected school closure is giving me 3 weeks to be with DH. I was off all last week and had planned to take this week off. My oldest daughter was going to come in next week but with all the Covid-19 that has been cancelled. For now, we are happy to be hunkered down at home. He is allowed to go for walks outside with me. I'll also go to the grocery store as needed, but not making any extra trips. Doctors are really pleased with DH's progress, but he'll be off work for at least 4 - 6 weeks and then we will re-evaluate. He sees his surgeon on the 26th. Lots of stuff I can do in the house that I can do and I'm happy to have the time, so hopefully I'll be productive. The weather has been nice the past couple days and will be again tomorrow. Tomorrow we are supposed to get 3 to 6 inches wet snow. 17 years ago, 2003, we had a major blizzard, all schools were closed for the week. I believe the 19th was a Wednesday and we were all home playing in the snow on DD#2 5th birthday. Tomorrow she turns 22! But its only DH and me so I guess I'll be shoeveling snow, but DH will be safe and warm inside. DH and I are young - he is 64 and I'll be 64 in 6 weeks. Baruch hashem, we will live long lives.

    Everyone stay safe. Karen

Karen: I'm so glad to hear that your dh is out of the hospital and doing well! I've been wondering how he is doing. Enjoy your time pampering him during his recovery. And Happy Birthday to DD#2!

    Ruth: Thanks for the links!

edj: Good idea to convert your dining room into a useful exercise room.

Hi Everyone! Virus or no virus, the yard still needed to be mowed. So, dh and I push mowed for the first time this year. I did the back yard which takes over 90 minutes. It wasn't so bad today bc it's mainly weeds and onions. Plus the temperature was in the 60s.
