Hi everyone, had a nice 45 minute walk on the beach this morning and then a noon time zoom yoga class.

Wonderland, love the NC dot painting, I am spending the week in Duck, NC on the outer banks, we really got hit by Tropical Storm Arthur for several days. The house was shaking!

It was my mother's 85th B'day yesterday, she should be with us at the beach but with the COVID she is in a self quarantine. I drove home yesterday to be with her...we have been coming to the beach for her birthday for 25 years, so it was a little bittersweet.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend to all who serve and served. TT

Happy Birthday to your mom, TT!

We are having very nice weather here. DH and I had an early lunch outside at a local marina and took a walk out there. I've been cleaning house and he has been doing yard work all afternoon. I should do some abs before I sit down and relax for the evening.

TT: Happy Birthday to your Mom! Birthdays are very different this year.

Edj: I had a breast MRI about 10 years ago. Felt strange while lying on your belly and your breasts in 2 openings hanging low. Good luck with your new one.

M0mmy: I did the same thing with my clothes yesterday.

    Ruth: It's rainy here also.

I mowed last night for 35 minutes before the rain started. Today I mowed for 1 hour (dh finished the rest of the yard) and in the afternoon walked/ran. Right now there's a gentle rain falling as opposed to an hour ago when it was scary pouring with lightning.

Zumba yesterday morning and a walk in the afternoon.

Planted flowers into some patio pots after zoom church and youth group and then a nice 5 mile socially distanced walk with a friend today.

It’s been a crazy couple of days due to a homicide Friday morning a couple of towns away from here. This was followed by everyone in the town where I teach sheltering in place for 2 days while police tried to find the suspect who was hiding in a wooded area. It continued today with stolen cars and the suspect headed south. Last I heard they were tracking him into PA. Stressful and sad for everyone involved.

Great long walk this morning - pleasant temperature; short walk before dinner - drizzling (after heavy down pour) and cold - after dinner the rain had stopped but it was cold!! - I froze - 46!! Won't complain about the rain as the trees and shrubs need it and we need water. Totally unproductive day today except for my walks.

went for a nice long hike yesterday...weather was beautiful! Woke up to rain this morning! Looks like it will rain on and off all day. Since this is New Mexico's 'fire' season, we will take the rain. Thinking of finishing the clean up in the garage today: hubby and I started it a few weeks ago and made good progress, but there is more to do and it seems like a good way to get exercise on a rainy day.

I did a Zoom HIIT class this morning (and remembered why I don't like that class, thank goodness it was only 30 minutes and nobody could see me!), I'll do Zoom Yoga tonight. I lived in a small, close-knit town from the time I was 3 until after 7th grade & have been invited to join a closed Facebook group about growing up there; so I've been digging through my parent's old photo albums for pictures to share. Very sweet memories!!!

Ruth - I think from 3 or 4 or 5 I remember only a couple friends through elementary school. Don't remember anyone from Junior High, but I do remember high school, though I really don't keep in touch with anyone. We moved out to the suburbs when I was in 3rd grade, then in moved in 5th grade moved to the states - in VA for 3 years then to Ohio - over time just lost touch. How nice to get asked to join your growing up town and all those memories.

Productive day - pulled weeds near our deck and put down some mulch, cleaned out my pots/pans cabinets - DH painted the couple shelves as they were all scratched - there was items in there that I didn't remember I had and stuff that I haven't used in years - got lazy and went to foil pans for cooking so I haven't used my pyrex in years. I asked my daughters if they wanted any and they couldn't decide, so basically NO. I'm waiting for more things to open up to donate. I still have more to do in the kitchen. I opened the cabinet right above the ovens and forgot about all the stuff in there. - need to look in the cabinets under the cook tops and the small one under the stoves. I'm sure there will be more to give away. One of my goals for the summer is to clean out crawl space, furnace room and garage (with DH). We both have to go through stuff from our mother's - its been 2+ years since I lost my Mom but only 8 months for my MIL. But we have way too much stuff.

    Only 3 more days!!!!

A good walk on the beach yesterday and today, at 60 and breezy a beach walk with full clothing and plenty of social distance. It was a sunny 70 on Saturday and too many folks at the beach, yikes! Will do a Zoom pilates class later today.

I start teaching summer school on Monday, so this week is crucial to cleaning up from last semester before starting new...so why did we put an offer on a new house! We are still negotiating but each day I feel it is crazier and crazier and adding stress. It is a house on the same street we have lived on for 20+ years, but one with a first floor bedroom and other items that we hope will take us our next 20 years...DH and I are 59/58...so no rush to the first floor now, but houses in our neighborhood go fast and not often. Oh well.

    Happy Monday/Tuesday to all. TT

Oh boy, TT. You are busy! Is summer school in person or online?

Both DH & I have physicals next week so we went to the clinic for blood work and now I am sitting in the car while he ran into Menards to exchange something. When I get home, I have to get on the phone and cancel some June travel plans (boo hoo). Dog walking and Zoom PiYo layer.

Yes, maybe a bit crazier than I care for. My summer school class is a purpose built online offering developed 3 years ago...so it is packaged and not a race to remote learning as we did this past spring, but the students do require daily attention.

My second work assignment for June is being part of the leadership for AP Economics, that is now all online and I will have to commit to 14 days over the course of 3 weeks to an 11am-4pm "ass-in-seat" online meeting format. As I am usually an up out of my seat kind of person, that will be hard. That goes from June 9 - June 24!

So on top of all that we go buying a house with a June 29th closing! Good grief.

We have been looking for a new house for probably 4 years, very slow burner, really only interested in 2 over that time, but we might find ourselves trading in our 1930's Dutch Colonial for a 1940's Colonial Revival, wow what a jump to the future! Now don't call me old-fashioned.

Zoom Yoga & Relaxation for an hour, 1/2 hr break, and then Zoom Barre-Lates today. Felt good. Off to the bank in a few minutes to deposit our Economic Impact check. Too bad it will all be used to offset our $6,000 HVAC replacement, which was done just before the rain & heat wave here in N. KY. 86 today!

I saw the orthopedist this morning, and I'm pretty down at the moment. He wants me to continue wearing the boot for the next four weeks (when I see him next). No exercise, although he did relent a bit and say anything seated but I'm to put no pressure on my right foot at all. I asked about rowing and he said no, too easy to use my foot. I might get cleared for some walking in four weeks but he said this kind of fracture takes six to eight weeks to heal.

I also asked about continuing to work with my running coach--no, not for probably three months. So not only is my summer marathon not possible, no marathon is possible this year.

I know others have far greater things to bear but this has just gutted me. I went through this two years ago when I fractured my pelvis and was just getting my running base built back up when I was dx'd with breast cancer.

This Weeble is tired of getting knocked down.

edj3 - So sorry for the bad news about your running endeavours. My sister fractured her pelvis in two places several years ago & I know she had a long battle back from that, but has ultimately emerged with bones stronger than prior to the fracture due to all the rehab exercise. You sound like a strong woman, and I firmly believe you will be able to get back up and resume your running goals. Healing thoughts coming your way.

No wonder you are discouraged, edj. Better do what the doctors say so that recovery doesn't take even longer.Sad

I'm thinking there won't be any marathons for a long while if that is any consolation what-so-ever.

Edj, I'm so sorry to read of this difficult recovery. What do you have planned for upper body work? Ruth, love the photo! Wonderland, love how the creative flows from you out of everything! TT, you are so funny!

Over this past weekend we turned our guest bedroom into my yoga room. It's a small box room but with the bed out I can fit a number of yoga props and a couple of mats. I'm typing from it now, laptop on some blocks and ready to take a couple of online yoga classes. Let's keep at it - anyway we can.

LilacBlue your yoga space sounds lovely!

I checked in with my physical therapist about the work she'd already given me. None of those exercises stress my foot so I'm going to continue them as they do strengthen my legs and hips and also work on mobility. And yes, upper body weights are still on. But I can't get cardio, partly because I'm in good shape. Was telling my sister I rowed super hard for an hour on Saturday, was nice and sweaty, legs were good and tired and my heart rate never got above 124. So that part will be hard to manage w/o two working feet.

Edj, reads as though your strength and cardio will remain high. If you'd like to go down the wellbeing route, seated yoga (you'd have to really watch that no weight is subconsciously bearing down on your foot) and seated tai chi might be enjoyable. Ruth, the weather looks great and nice to see WWW back on track.

I attended a webinar by Les Mills yesterday for both instructors and gym owners. One gym that I presently offer a weekly Pilates class want's me to keep at it and add yin yoga. To be honest, I don't get much satisfaction from teaching on zoom, yet personally, I take zoom classes and find a sense of enjoyment - kind of get lost in it as a participant. This quote by R. D. Lang comes to mind: don't adjust your mind there a fault in reality.

Here is an article from the Washington Post titled: Should you return to the gym?:https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/wellness/gym-return-coronavirus-decision/2020/05/26/fc031e5c-9f86-11ea-9590-1858a893bd59_story.html

Off to get this day going and need to make a start on creating quiz questions (it's our turn) for our UK family zoom chat on Sunday.

It's like you read my mind, LilacBlue. Been looking online at seated yoga, I hadn't thought about tai chi. But my flexibility is going to be shot so I need to do something like that.

I had partial mastectomy with reconstruction in Feb. 2020. Doing very well, except I tried tennis yesterday and my armpit is killing me today. I did have lymph nodes removed I've been using 3 pound weights daily to strengthen that arm and prevent lymphadema. Might have to call surgeon tomorrow. I'm supposed to start golf league on Tuesday. I'm very nervous now.

Hope things settle down, Martaj. I think it hurts because of the repetitive movement of tennis. Probably back off and when you do try tennis, or golf, again don't go full force when you start. Maybe just a game or two of tennis, or a couple holes of golf just to see how it goes. If your arm feels okay afterwards, add a little more at a time.

Dog walking & a 45 minute Pilates DVD for me today.

Martaj, how does the armpit area feel today? Edj, you are totally on track! Ruth, I have always admired your consistency.

Taught my best zoom Pilates in our living room yesterday (of course open to a completely different interpretation by participants :) as I did not record it for self-flagellation afterwards. Have been so up & down. We are to start coming out of lockdown next week and the numbers - if following the science - shows we should be staying in lockdown. I'm following the developments in the US and omg, it's beyond awful and here, we have our populist PM who continues to balk at the government being held accountable for the shambles the UK is in. The PM's closest advisor (unelected, who takes direction from Steve Bannon and doing his best to dismantle the structure of the civil service), has proven this past week through clarity of actions - is irreplaceable - the curtain was drawn back - surprise, he is actually the one who runs the country. I'm trying, really I am.
