Like it Ruth- thanks! Edj, very inspirational and TrmTab we are rooting for everyone to keep at it- celebrating it all! HeidiHill, thinking of you and waving! I messaged Falconer to see how all was going. She sends her love to all - missing us and exhausted teaching 8 grade online.

Our son had his oral presentation of his final project on Zoom this morning. He has one more ecology product report next week to present and that is it - he is done with undergrad, finished up in his childhood bedroom. Weird way to end university, no doubt about it.

Lilac, I know what you mean. My son defends his PhD dissertation via zoom in a few weeks...of course I am very proud of him, but it isn't the same as going to his graduation and see them put that colored hood over his gown...was really looking forward to that, but commencement is of course cancelled....I feel particularly bad for kids starting University in the fall: for many of them it will be virtual until at least January.

As for exercise, hubby and I cleaned out the garage this weekend. Took a lot of effort, but a major accomplishment. Lots of weight training involved :-) Also getting in daily brisk walks.

My mother used to run marathons; In fact she finished the Pike's Peak Ascent in less than five hours when she was 68 or 69. I definitely did not inherit that gene. But, I am happy to root edj and others on!

Octo, it is strange way to end and no commencement ceremony for us either. Over here, it's in a bit of limbo for September as the exams one sits were cancelled. The foreign/international student numbers have gone way down for autumn as Covid-19 & brexit have had a big impact. Interesting about your mother. I never witnessed my mother do a stitch of exercise.

Took a long walk today and needed it as I felt awful yesterday evening with a gasto picked-up from where? I'm over-all feeling down as death toll here continues to be high with UK death toll now passes Italy to be highest in Europe. Anyway, just trying to keep at it.

Backs of my legs were pretty sore from all the exercise yesterday, so today was a rest day. Back to the grind tomorrow.

Lilac, I was feeling pretty blue today too. Usually I am pretty upbeat or sometimes mad....but not usually sick-to-my-stomach sad. I am very, very disappointed with all the beach goers, protesters, people who push park rangers in the lake when he tells them to social distance, and shot security guard who tell them to wear masks. Apparently we have become a mean, selfish people. Anyway....puppy walking in the cold rain (we need rain, so it was good, cold or not) and Zoom Yoga for me today. Tomorrow I am going over to school and record a talk about Abraham Lincoln that I give for the 7th graders each spring, so that be fun. I was supposed to give it the week school was shut down, in front of real kids, but this will do.

Ruth, thank you and have yet to read NYT or Washington Post this am - of abusing park rangers or shooting of security guard - awful. Is this what Americans have become? I spoke with my sister last night who is in San Diego about the beaches and she said that was a minority - the majority are staying in, working to keep a distance - away from beaches and group gatherings. That type of mentality over here is projected by a small minority. We have individual who is taking the government to court , a legal challenge to lockdown. I immediately thought of you regarding the propaganda stunt at Lincoln Memorial.

I also think that the government over reach is a problem. People ratting out their neighbors for silly reasons is a slippery slope. Sweden simply described the virus situation and suggested ways for people to protect themselves and then let people decide for themselves how to handle it. They have weathered virus and their economy well. The United States (as well as other countries) could end up with an economic depression which will kill more people than the virus.

As for exercise, I am keeping up a great pace. Last week, I averaged more than 20k steps a day with a nice mix of walking and running. But my Snacking is out of control!! I gained weight. Stress/loneliness/boredom, I guess. Though I’m not really bored. Must be stress. So this week, I’m aiming for 15k steps a day And staying mindful. Planning on going to a running meetup with my DH and his friends tonight.

Sometimes people ask if exercise can offset diet so I’m here to say that in terms of body weight, diet is more important.

The Wednesday Walking Women are still distancing. I did run into one of the ladies when I was taking my walk and her husband took this picture. We'll walk the dogs this afternoon and I'll Zoom Pound tonight.

Go Kale, I just wanted to mention that Sweden has almost 3,000 deaths compared to Norway and Finland with numbers in the 200’s, so their plan of just telling the elderly to stay home was not successful.

    Hello everyone.

    Lilac- I loved that video!

Very busy with lots of my day filled with remote teaching.

Only exercise has been walking. Had to put the rest on hold after re-injuring my previously frozen shoulder. I was walking the dog when we ran into an opossum out in daylight. The dog and it were nose to nose and when I yanked hard to scramble away I fell down hard. It is slowly healing and I am hoping to give Zumba a try on Saturday morning. I am cranky when my exercise decreases.

On Tuesday, it was officially announced that we will have remote learning until 6/17. Sigh. It’s really hard not to have closure with my preschoolers.

Ginger: Sorry about your shoulder. Hope it improves quickly. I bet you want to give your preschoolers a big hug.

M0mmy: I'm sure the fish appreciate your hard labor!

Been awhile since I last posted. Been walking/running and of course weekly mowing with dh. I mowed 90 minutes today as a matter of fact. Walked in the house afterwards and the phone started ringing. It was my sister who told me I sounded out of breath. I told her she can come mow my yard next time and see how it feels! :)

Ginger - our school year ends the end of this month. We have not had in school classes since March 13 - we went on extended spring break then beginning April distance learning. There is talk of combination distance learning and in school learning when we go back in August. That just scares the begebees (sp) out of me. I did not sign up to do "teletherapy". I miss the kiddos. I need to work a couple more years till I say so long, farewell!!!

Karen -we have not been in school building since March 13th. We had a week off in April and now have another 6 weeks teaching remotely. We don’t know yet if we will be able to return to our building in late August. So much is uncertain right now.

Wonderland- you have no idea how much I want to hug my students. They are so confused right now.

Mommy- sounds like a big tank.

I finally achieved my goal of over 10,000 steps since radiation. Yesterday actually got over 15,000. Lots of hiking yesterday and slept like a log last night.

Ginger- sorry to hear about your shoulder injury. How big is your dog? I think about adopting a dog, but I would need a small-ish dog due to my osteoporosis, I think.

Martaj- great job on getting all those steps. So great that you have hiking nearby

Wonderland- all that mowing is no joke. It will keep you young

    Ruth - great pics!

Mommyof2- I bet the fish tank is beautiful and so peaceful to look at.

I have been enjoying the weather here and getting some great walks everyday and a few runs this week. It’s nice to be able to walk several different times a day. Last night we took a short walk to see the super moon.

Just got some great news from local Cancer Support Community. They will be starting Zumba Gold via zoom on Mon & Fri. On other days, they provide zoom classes on variations of Yoga & Relaxation or Pilates & Relaxation, plus Art of Living Meditation on Weds & Sat, all of which I am taking advantage of. Just did the Pilates & Relaxation this am. Believe my flexibility is improving since doing these classes 4 days a week. MIssing my Tai Chi classes, though. Have been doing an Amazon Video, Jenny Ford Low Impact off an on for some cardio. Walks outdoors about every other day - however, nasty weather coming through starting today, so will not be outdoors again until next week.

    Martaj that is great :)

I've been really down about the shooting in February of a young man who was out for a run, and shot while running as a black man. Today would have been his 26th birthday. Finally, finally the GBI arrested the two who are on video shooting him. I will never have that fear of running as a person of color, knowing that racist idiots might shoot me because of my skin color.

Tomorrow I run a virtual half marathon, it's the Running with the Cows half and I ran it for real two years ago before all this breast cancer nonsense. Debating what route to take, but the weather will be nice and brisk (upper 30s).

    Martaj - good for you

edj - its appalling that it took the video going viral for the shooters to be arrested.

    Nice spring weather here

Its been a good birthday day!! DH got me beautiful roses - red, white and pink and 2 pairs of Chaco sandals - 1 pair I bought on sale awhile back and said they would be for my birthday - put the package in the garage. He surprised me with another pair. I live in my Chacos in the summer. I have several pairs, but some are 4 - 5 years old and worn out as I walk so much. The kids got me 2 beautiful hanging baskets for the front of the house (a tradition) and youngest daughter sent her dad a nice picture collage for him to print on photo paper for me. And most importantly, I got to talk to all 3 of my kids. All 3 kids and me have b'days during quarantine - youngest DD in March, the 2 big kids and me in May (3, 8, 12) plus Mother's Day is always been the 8th and 14th - so May is a busy Month.

DH turns 65 in October (yes we are babies) and I would like to do something special especially in light of his open heart surgery in March. We are still staying home (except me to the grocery store with a mask and hand sanitizer/wipes) as we are both considered at high risk beyond our age. Coronary artery disease is number 2 or 3 on the list and CKD is #6 or #7.

Been a pretty good walking week - but still need at least one more walk today.

    Have a great week-end.

    Happy Birthday, Karen!!

Same old, same old here; puppy walking & Zoom exercise classes. A Polar Vortex has swooped down & it's about 20 degrees below normal. I haven't planted any annuals yet but last night I covered up the perennials that have poked their little heads above the ground because the temperature got down to 24 degrees. It might SNOW tomorrow!!

Happy Birthday Karen! And Edj3 I totally agree with you, It's really sad and disgusting to see what is going on in this world today. I wish you the best of luck with your half marathon!

I have only been walking 5/7 days for most weeks! And lately have been pushing myself with all of this pandemic stuff going on. You girls are awesome!

Well done Martaj - you go girl! Happy Birthday Karen! Welcome LLL2020! Edj3, drilled into this awful shooting and this is what evil, injustice, racism, and ignorance is. Enjoy your Running with the Cows half! Ginger, glad you liked the video - will we really have 2020 hindsight? CeliaC, reads as a terrific initiative in your area . Myself and other trainers nation-wide are involved in a new trail that is just to start, where we are matched to work one-on-one, via Zoom & phone to help those in cancer treatment - during Covid-19 - spanning six months.

Beautiful day here and plan on mopping the kitchen floor, do some yoga & Pilates and take a walk . Enjoy your Saturday everyone!

An icy rain is coming down & I didn't feel like getting on the treadmill, so I did a 5 miles walking DVD with Leslie Sansone, which was actually pretty good.
